Stopped by for an unplanned visit as tire pressure warning light came on, clicking sounds and tire looks low again. I had added air about 2 days ago but finally noticed a nail while pumping gas...sure enough warning light back on. Castro Valley Tire Pros was an immediate option as was in the area...good reviews and checked if they did tire patches. Beto helped me this first visit and was friendly, no nonsense and just the facts. Advised it would be about an hour wait (Saturday, 9:45am) as first come, first serve. After 20 mins of waiting, staff worked on my car but told based on the placement of the nail it would need to be replaced....so 2 new tires! *sigh* not what I had planned this Saturday morning but glad to get it taken care of. Overall a seamless experience replacing 2 tires within an hour...they do offer the option of adding a 3-year warranty and tire rotation. Consulting with a friend he said it would be good peace-of-mind to get the warranty ($40) but skipped the rotation ($110). Beto educated me on the tire pressure, what tread I had left on the other tires and mentioned to consider other factors such as extreme heat for wear-and-tear on tires. Excellent and professional service! I came here since I noticed one of my tires was extremely low compared to the others. It is first come first serve. They did a great job checking on the tire and found a screw had punctured it, so they fixed it up. It was $40 for the repair. I have to dock a star. This place is so popular that going here can be hit or miss (it's sort of assumed that customers can go here at any time). My wife was also lied to on 5/4. My wife has a Honda CR-V. For months, a buzzing noise could be heard on the right side (it was tricky to pinpoint because it was only heard at certain times when the car was going 35 mph or more). We thought that a bad wheel bearing might be the cause (we also wondered if the noise had something to do with the dashboard). Early on, we thought that some work done at America's Tire was behind the noise. They did a tire adjustment for free when we went back to them, but the noise continued to be heard. Going here about two months ago was a waste of time because it was raining. The technician couldn't hear the noise when driving the car. On 4/27, going here was a waste of time because the mechanics were all tied up. The guy who talked to my wife really didn't care, and he just kept telling her to return here on a weekday first thing in the morning (appointments can be made, but not for everything). 5/4 (Saturday hours are 7:30 am-3:30 pm): We arrived at around 7:15, but it was raining again (we groaned because we knew that we would probably have to make another trip here). It didn't really cost us, but a young woman entered the office and was helped a few minutes before 7:30 (I glared at her a little, but I knew that we should have gone in before her when we had the chance). The technician who helped my wife was friendly and thorough, but he lied (to be fair, part of what he said simply had to do with a wrong assumption). We were here for over 70 minutes, and no work was done (this turned out to be a blessing). My wife was given two estimates (the one for new rear brake pads was for over $600, and the one for a new wheel bearing was for over $700). Labor: $225/hour. This is largely why both estimates were high. My wife was told that the rear brake pads were at 10%. Nope. They didn't need to be replaced at all. A new wheel bearing wasn't needed either. The technician wanted us to return here so that it could be determined if the left or right wheel bearing was the issue. Sigh. My wife called our mechanic (Mike). She regretted not contacting him earlier. On 5/20, the source of the noise was finally discovered (it had to do with the windshield molding). My wife going to Quick Quack regularly probably played a role (car wash brushes can cause some damage). Some other work was done too, but Mike only charged $590.95 (when he was testing the car, a tire got punctured by a small blade that was on the road, or the total would have been $491.13). He charges $175/hour for labor. In terms of Castro Valley Tire Pros, Jeff is very friendly, and customers easily open up to him (on 5/4, a few people basically told him where they live). The atmosphere is casual, but that's kind of an issue (I mainly blame customers for this, but so much chatting goes on that it makes wait times a little longer). I'm upgrading my review to five stars. They are certainly efficient and they try to make the process swift as possible. We've had many jobs done from new tires on multiple vehicles, a brake job, and most recently today, an alignment. Francisco helped me today, but during my last visit, Beto helped me. What I particularly appreciate with them is as a woman, they do not talk down to you at all. Many places do that, even in this day and age; sometimes it's subtle, but sometimes it's overt. Don't let the many cars deter you. They got me in and out inside of an hour. Sometimes they do indeed get swamped, so an appointment may be necessary, but it's totally worth it. yesterday i discovered a nail in one of my tires. ugh! but first thing this morning--after coffee, of course--i went straight to CVTP. i've had the pleasure of the outstanding service in the past and knew that i could trust them to do what needed doing. they are beyond friendly, and despite my being a total moron re cars, they never make me feel like one. i described what i thought was another problem. they could have said "yep, it's a problem. that'll be $XXX.00," but they never do that. after the tire was fixed and an oil change, they told me there was no problem and i'm good to go. i love these guys and trust them completely--with my life obvs. hands down they're one of the best and i'm grateful i recommend them without reservation!! thank you, gents read more

These guys are like all about FACTS! I went to my normal Mercedes dealership for a tire repair only bc I was close by and they told me the nail is on the sidewall. Ok one tire $750 all in. I get it it's the name sure. But I am still going to get the best deal I can! Went on tirerack.com found the tire for $440. Ok cool let's get it installed at my neighborhood favorite tire pro shop.. brought it in and guess what?!?! (Say what!!!) dude in the glasses was like ummm we can repair this... he is so smart, always looking out for the customer, not trying to scam someone like me who doesn't not sh*t about tires. Anyhoo don't hesitate, these guys will make sure you are set up the correct way. I do have to change out my back 2 tires soon (I have the staggered bs ugh) but I still got a month or two to go so I will take it. At least I have 1 of the tires ready to go! My son needed a rear brake replacement, he made an appointment the day before. When I met my son here for his appointment, one morning, we were met with a bitter service tech that stated that they don't make appointments. It's first come. He also stated that they don't have a set price for services. Not basic set prices.... It's all evaluation only. Even the nearest HONDA DEALERSHIP gave us straight forward price quotes on services. SUPER SHADY IF YOU DONT HAVE A BASE PRICE ON SERVICES!!! Brake jobs start at..... tire services start at..... rotations start at.... And absolutely no time commitment. There were only 4 cars ahead of us and we couldn't get a time commitment. If you only have 4 cars in service and can't service a fifth car, with 4 bays..... red flags. Your intake guy is horrible. While they didn't have the specific ones I needed in stock, they pointed me exactly where to purchase online to save me money, and walked me through the best options for my particular driving needs. It's interesting to read the reviews for this place. Their overall rating is 4 1/2 stars, but a closer look shows a lot of 1 and 5 star ratings. I guess you either love this place or you hate it. I remember awhile back, calling here to get some information, and feeling like the person I spoke to on the phone was a bit short and rude to me. I was disappointed, as I wanted to support a local shop Today I wanted to get a nitrogen tire fill for my car and discovered that this was the nearest place (and will be convenient when I need refills). I decided to give them a try. Right away I could see how this would not be everybody's type of place. Having grownup in the Central Valley, the guys here remind me of my old days. I'm guessing they've been working here forever and you're definitely on their turf. That said, even though I was a little bit intimidated, I played along. It's $19.95 for nitrogen fills for car tires with free refills. It's first come, first serve (no appointment). It took about 30 minutes as I think I was 2nd in line. They charge extra to use a credit card, which surprised me. For what it was, I'm happy. We also do this on our pickup and we love it! The tires maintain the proper pressure for much longer than air fills. I felt that by the time I left, the guy I was dealing with at the desk was a bit more hospitable, so that's cool.
