I didn't think it was worth the extra $. $30 for a half tray of garden salad that fed about 8-10 was pricey, considering putting together your own would cost about $10. If you like doing business with a local owner who is appreciative of your business, this is the place. The finished product, referring to the pizza since I've not tried anything else here, is outstanding. While it may seem pricier than other pizza places, the amount of toppings is generous, the finished pizza is cooked to perfection and a large is a large, not a bunch of fluff. I think the dough is hand stretched. The owner is particular about the quality of the finished pizza. Compared to other "mom and pop" shops in the area, Catalano's I think has better cheese, crispier and yet substantial (not skimpy) crust and a full flavored sauce. We just tried it (twice so far this week) after buying their 25th anniversary coupon book. It seems that they have done their homework. I've spent all of my nearly 23 years eating Catalano's pizza almost once a week. My family and I were friends with the previous owner, Dave, and have met the new owner. I think she's great! Super friendly and seems very hard working. Catalano's has always hired young people from around the area and the guys who work there are always super nice. The food has always been great, and it still is under new management. Last night, my family ordered a large piazza and their delicious turkey salad. The piazza was heavy with toppings and the crust was great. The salad was cold and fresh and I love their Italian dressing. (Try it on their piazza!) The service is always extremely friendly and today I placed an order for delivery and found out that they don't charge for delivery!! Their people are as great as the food! I've experienced Food at this pizza place for lunch, early afternoon, dinner time and even delivery. I am impressed on how the food always tastes soooo good every single time! Hot and fresh and extremely delicious! We always get the meat lovers pizza and there is an abundance of quality toppings and fresh ingredients. My personal favorite is a Pepperoni and sausage Calzone(I didn't order it tonight though). I've never had anything so delicious and it's huge, so I had to mention it! My son loves the spaghetti with meatballs. So, we can never go wrong with satisfying all appetites in this house! But the main reason I wanted to do this review was not just for the obvious(tasty quality food) but I wanted to give recognition to their employees. No matter what time of the day you show up, and even the delivery team, have all been genuinely nice! Kudos to the staff! Delicious! Had the Beef Lasagne. Cheesy, juicy, flavorful. I hate a dry lasagne. This was very good. Buttery Garlic bread, fresh salad made to order... the tomatoes were the right size for eating, and didn't overwhelm the salad. The fried green beans were amazing!!! We had to have two orders they were so good! Fried crispy, the coating was not overwhelming or thick. They weren't overdone and greasy. They were served with a spicy Jalapeño sauce that complimented them. Addicting! The service was wonderful! We were there with friends. This place was very clean. It's small, but there was more take out traffic than dining in. If we come back to this area, we will definitely be back! Especially for those Fried green beans!!! read more

The service here is horrible. I waited 35-40 minutes for a 12 inch pizza. The wait baffled me because there were only 2 parties there when I was there, my boyfriend and I and another family (who ordered an appetizer that came out long after their meal). The food finally came out and at least it was a good pizza. The cost of the 12 inch pizza was $16.95 plus tax. A little on the pricey side for me. The crust was crispy and the toppings were good. I couldn't wait to leave. As we were leaving my boyfriend noticed that they were having a party behind the counter. They were drinking beer and eating on the clock. This place is now under new management since the last time I went there. The calzone used to be really really good, but now it is only a shadow of its former self. It was very small and extremely dry. It had very little stuffing and very little cheese it was like eating a dough ball. I also ordered the hot wings. The hot wings were totally gross and tasted like freezer burn! I couldn't even eat more than one hot wing they were so disgusting. The hot wings tasted like they had been in the freezer for a long time and they had no sauce on them. Did I mention they were gross. I contemplated about trying this place for 6 months and I finally did it last week. I thought the pizza was fine. They asked us if we wanted thick crust, thin crust or NY style. We went for the NY Style. Like I said, the pizza was a-ok, reminded me of Shakeys back in the day. The thing that stunned me was THE PRICE. For a large pie with most of the toppings on the 'Special' - no drinks - our check came out to $26 dollars. Wow. That's pretty pricey. We were told that the place is being revamped by new owners to make it more like a pizza bar with beer and wine. Here's some advice for the new owners: ADJUST YOUR PRICING. For the quality of pizza and what we got on it, it was not worth what we paid for. It was also not worth our repeat business. For the record, I could get 3 Excellent Gourmet style pizzas by PitFire Pizza for $10/each. And I can also vouch that PitFire is so DAM GOOD. So delicious that I go there once a week with our team mates. I say copy them! But if you want to survive, make sure you have downright great pizzas and reasonable pricing. Have lived in Bixby Knolls since 2000. My wife and I finally decided to give this place a try after being told there was an 1hr and 45 minute wait at "Me n Eds". We should have waited. Not sure how Catalano stays in business. I ordered an 18" Pizza and hot wings for $35 and counted 15 peperoni on the pizza. Very disappointed with toppings and crust. So I've decided to retract my previous review. I think the first time around was just a rare occasion with my pizza being a little over cooked.
