    ITALIAN SANDWICH
    Patty A.

First time customer, not sure if I'll be back. Ordered an Italian sandwich, it was lackluster, not much flavor. My son did love the pepperoni/onion calzone. The staff (Juan & Brandon) were so nice, Brandon even feeds the pigeons that hang out by the door! BTW, the bathroom is Very small, efficient & got the cutest sign above the commode!

Tonight for dinner we decided to skip cooking and go out instead. I've had this pizza place saved on my YELP for a minute now that I had saved from a reel or TikTok video I saw. At first glance we arrived just after 5pm and the place was empty. Good for us since we could sit anywhere we wanted to. Nice decor on the walls. It kinda had the same vibe as Buonos pizza in long beach. An old school authentic new York Italian kinda feel to it. Overall the place was very clean. After looking over the menu we decided to go with a special 18" pizza, chicken wings plain, lasagna, meatball appetizer, and some extra marinara sauce for dipping any crust if needed. Brandon was a one man army tonight and did an amazing job. He practically single handedly had all of our orders ready, hot and on the table in less than an hour. Great job bud. The meatballs i was expecting to be bigger. They were still delicious. The sauce...OMG THE SAUCE! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. It was thick and so homemade kinda flavor. The lasagna was next and it too did not disappoint. Right from the first bite you taste the ricotta cheese. Very hot and filled with flavor. I ordered plain chicken wings because I can't do spicy anymore. They were good. I just wish they had larger orders because I love me some chicken wings . Now the pizza...it was perfect. I could only have two slices it had so much toppings on it. It was just right for this evening's dinner. Still had plenty leftovers for lunch tomorrow . Final call and Overall review...definitely coming back here for some great food. Besides...we still have to try the subs . Highly recommend to anyone looking for good pizza and Italian dishes. Great job Brandon and Juan.

They block most of the seats so best to do a take out

Mom and pop pizza shop. Friendly owner took our order and was just great we have a small business that is providing good food to the community! They said they were affected by the pandemic but also now it's hard to find waiters in this inflated economy. So most of the seats are blocked with pizza boxes but they are open so don't worry. The catalano's pizza had lots of toppings and the pizza was great. My toddler also liked it (she just picked out the pepperoni). I saw the 24" pizza challenge but I saw the pizza box and can't believe someone actually ate it all!! Actually don't know if they do it any more because most of the seats are closed but you can ask...

I got the 15" Catalano special pizza. If you love cheese, you'll love this pizza. The ingredients tasted fresh. It had pepperoni, sausage, ham, mushrooms, olives, onions and bell peppers. The owner was very nice and welcoming. I drove about 30 minutes back to San Gabriel Valley and by the time I got home, the pizza was still hot. Before this, I had Thai food at LB Thai food. The pizza was so good that I ate 2 slices and tempted to eat a 3rd slice. The location is in a small plaza next to a Dollar Tree. This is a local mom and pop's hole in the wall pizza joint. Love the interior decorations. The owner is so sweet! I was a little shy, it was freezing in north LB around 8pm on a Saturday night lol.

So I've been sitting here this morning trying to think of words to describe Catalano's Pizza let me start by saying my friends and I are here from Columbus Ohio that's right Go Bucks and we leave today for our cruise to Cabo so last night we decided early on we would do pizza for dinner so my task is always to research and find the best place to eat at first glance on yelp I knew Catalano's would be my pick but to be fair I still look at a few others and of course read reviews to see what the city had to say about each place after about 2 hours sitting by the pool reading and looking at pics I stayed with my first choice and MAN LET ME TELL YOU hands down absolutely amazing DA BOMB.COM and yes I am certified to say that cause I was born and raised in Chicago and everyone knows we have the best pizza lol when I called I let the gentleman on the phone know we were not from around here so make sure send us the best and when I say they brought their A Game each pies was piping hot the cheese pull on these pizza's had us going crazy each bite the flavors of this deliciousness was like a party on the inside of our mouths then to take it up another notch they sent us this amazing chocolate chip cookie pie on the house with the sweetest special note on it just had us going crazy each bite so if you're in the Long Beach area please please please give this place a try you will not be disappointed thank you to my friends at Catalano's for such an amazing dinner and dessert last night my friends and I were extremely happy by the way we finished it off for breakfast this morning we will back be and you already know where I'm coming!!!

Best meatball sub ... hands down
    larry b.

Went back a week later to try their famous meatball sandwich and I was not disappointed! To be honest, it's a science making a meatball sub and they got it down pat. Their bread is the key and it doesn't get soggy. The meatballs and sauce and the crazy amount of cheese is so delicious!

Stopped by to get a slice of pizza, ended up getting a mini pizza and having a really good conversation with the lady in charge. The lady was very pleasant and friendly, she talked to me about business and the ingredients in their pizzas. I watched her make a pizza. They use a great grade of mozzarella and a good kind of olives. They put the a layer of cheese, they pepperonis, then another layer of cheese. They pizza looks extra cheesy BUT it actually didn't taste to cheesy at all, great flavor. Olives where delicious too. The actual establishment has a lot going on, the setting area is more of a storage area, so pizza to go is definitely a better option. But everything was clean and organized. I enjoyed getting to know a bit about the business and how they made their pizzas, I also really enjoyed the pizza; definitely recommend. #SupportYourNeighborhoodPizzeria

I was coming down carson street and wanted to give this place a try! I ordered the honeycup pizza with mikes hot honey! Pretty good pizza. Pretty pricey for a 12 inch for $26 bucks total but i understand inventory of items goes up as well. THe cheese was good and crust was ok, lacking a bit of flavor still. They share a huge parking lot with the 99-cent store and a donut shop and bixby burgers. No issues parking getting in and out. Very nice people who run this place though and they have a health code A in the window which i like. If you never tried it give it a shot and see what you think.

    Thin crust available upon request

Do you offer a whole wheat crust?

The small waiting area had a cozy charm, and walking into the outdoor back patio--with a live saxophonist playing--felt genuinely magical. The food absolutely delivered. The spaghetti carbonara was spot on, and the lasagna was just as impressive. We finished with tiramisu and cannoli, and honestly, it felt like we were transported back to Italy. Visually, the burger was impressive and looked exactly like something you'd want to dig into. However, the salt level was overwhelming to the point where I genuinely could not finish it. What made matters worse was that our server was not attentive with refilling our waters, and when you're working through an extremely salty dish, hydration isn't optional. I left the meal feeling dehydrated and honestly a little frustrated. The bright spot of the visit was the Brussels sprouts, which were genuinely well done and showed some real kitchen care. If I were to return, I'd probably stick to the vegetable sides. For a restaurant with a 4 PM lull and minimal table traffic, there's no excuse for that level of inattentiveness. A simple water refill and a quick check in would have saved the experience. As it stands, the combination of an over salted entrée and absent service made for a tough sell on the value. If you're in the area craving a burger, you might want to save your money and head down the street to Louis Burger instead. Ellie's may shine in other areas; I've heard good things about the pasta, but this particular visit missed the mark.

We'd be happy to come down again in traffic, because it's absolutely worth the drive here. Some find the pizza sizes small or the prices high in comparison to your average pizza joint - but your average, everyday pizza place in California is just...ew. Their crust is very thin, Neapolitan style in a brick oven, beautiful and a little chewy, slightly-charred from the brick oven. Amazing texture. Traditionalists, so we just got the Margherita and Bianco, adding some mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle. SOO good. We also tried the fried zucchini blossoms, which were very light and not oily at all. Caesar salad was very delicious and fresh, also had the octopus, which was perfectly grilled and like eating steak. To finish, we had some amazing coffee with tiramisu. Wow. Not usually a fan, but their tiramisu was super light, not overly sweet, and super good. Thanks to our wonderful server, Diana ! Super friendly and everything came out quickly. Max told us they're the only place in California that has the ground pepperoni pizza, which makes sense because it was definitely the standout. The calamari was also excellent. Big pieces, soft inside, crispy batter, and plenty of marinara. We also tried the creamy garlic salad and chicken marsala, which were both good. I loved the upscale New York atmosphere Our lovely waiter, Scott immediately greeted us. I was so happy we had him. He was so knowledgeable about the menu, the building, making small talk and etc. when I asked what drink he recommended he said they have a full bar, but he did say the espresso martini. I told him that's my go to drink but I can't really do caffeine. So Scott had it made decaf. This was a life saver and it was the first time a waiter ever asked if I wanted it decaf We already knew what we came for. We wanted their tomahawk. This is where my mother and I usually have beef with each other (yes, a steak joke). Because we each want it cooked a different way. But it came out nicely done, we were both happy. Also, it came with pasta and carrots. The pancake was okay. The scrambled eggs were... weird. Tiny little egg bits that had me wondering, are these real eggs? I asked for crispy bacon; it wasn't, so I couldn't eat it. The breakfast potatoes tasted reheated--no crisp, not much flavor, no joy. And the London Fog? Don't expect Starbucks loveliness. The plain black coffee was better. I also had the grapefruit juice, it was bitter, but tasted fresh squeezed, which I appreciate. Service was good. My server saw that I didn't eat my food and tried to make it better. The venue is nice, but if you're coming for great food--burger aside--we didn't find it here. The velvet chairs are comfortable and beautiful, but the stains and spills were evident. I was worried when I sat down about what was on the chairs getting on my dress. Overall, it's a place we'd only return to if we were craving that burger, everything else was a fail. I left hungry. Last morning here at the Fairmont. Tried breakfast at Nettuno again... disappointed and leaving hungry again. This time we had oatmeal (needed to add water, so dry we stuck the spoon in it and it stood straight up and didn't fall over), fruit (good), boiled eggs (took 20 minutes), and the avocado toast with a fried egg. It was not good. The menu says it comes with kale, but I received mixed greens with it, not kale and the flavor was bad. It's hard to make bad avocado toast, but they did. Disappointing. Plus, service was very slow today. Our order came out incomplete and out of order. The atmosphere is beautiful, but this restaurant has a lot to work on to be worthy of its prices and the Fairmont brand. Second fail.

That was very much appreciated. This is a fun casual spot in 2nd and PCH shopping center, so you get 90 minutes of parking free here. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food pretty quickly after. You can eat inside or outside, both are lovely options. You basically pick your pasta type and sauce, so it's kind of a create-your-own-dish. They also have weekly specials and a few other specialty dishes on the menu. I will say, the lasagna looks to be the dish to get. The person next to me ordered it and the dish was massive. Looked delicious! I got the pappardelle bolognese. Pappardelle is my favorite type of noodle, and they make a great pappardelle here! Perfectly toothy. The noodles themselves were 9/10. The bolognese didn't have the deepest flavor I've ever tried, but it was solid. I loved the beautiful plate that my pasta was served in. I would definitely come back here. It's great to "make your own dish". It's a fun spot right along the water as well.

Food: 4/5 Portion: 3/5…read moreCustomer service: 2/5 We ordered Alfredo fettuccine for take out. Asked for chicken and the cashier said they had no chicken. Not sure if they were out or if they don't serve it (which seems odd). He offered meatballs, which we said yes to, since we didn't want seafood. The pasta portion seems rather small for a $30 take out meal. The actual pasta was very tasty but there was hardly any sauce. The meatballs were served with a good amount of sauce (marinara) and were tasty but not the best I've had. For the price, we were expecting a small side of garlic bread, but I suppose it's not included. For the location, we were expecting superb customer service. Perhaps they offer this for patrons who dine-in, or perhaps for patrons who look only a certain way. Based on this experience, we will not be returning.
