Wing flight for LB food scene week.

Every once in a while I have a craving for Rance's. The small Chicago style pizza is great when you're craving extra cheesy goodness, and it reheats well, which is good because a single slice is very filling. The wings are big and juicy and they have some great flavor options.

Rances for some wings. I love that you can choose three flavors for your nine wings. I tried the Cherry, Fresno chile, and rounded it off with the old favorite the Bacon Bourbon. The two new flavors were really good. The cherry is very unique and it's served with a wedge of lime for squeezing over it. These wings are all so flavorful that you don't even need the ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces.

I heard that there was good Chicago style deep dish pizza here down in Long Beach at Rance's Chicago Pizza. Deep Dish pizza is one of my fave things to eat, but I don't find places that serve it or at least do it well. I grew up eating deep dish pizza out here on the west coast, so I'm more used to and like the west coast style, as opposed to the true Chicago style where they cut their thin crust pizzas in little squares. It's a pie, cut it in triangles like a pie! They use too much cornmeal in the crust too, but that's just me. I first had deep dish stuffed pizza at Zachary's in Berkeley, so I kinda compare everything else to that. It was another long day of work and the crew just wanted to stay at the hotel and have me go out and get them some of this deep dish pizza. Ok, I'll keep the crew happy. I go in and order and it's very nice inside. Kinda a little upscale over some pizza parlor joint. I get 2 medium Chicago Classic, I think that was what it was called. Mostly it was sausage, green pepper, onions and mushrooms and lots of cheese. They had an option of half baked, so I got that cause I wanted the pizza hot and crispy and we had a full kitchen back in my room, plus all the plates and stuff. We serve it and I gotta say this is some dang good deep dish pizza. I hate place where they say deep dish, but what it ends up being is deep crust pizza with thin toppings! This was filled nice and I really liked the crust. The crew said we like to eat that this place again.

OK the food was really really good! I've never ordered the pizza from here by myself but today I took my son to show him what Chicago Pizza deep dish Chicago pizza tastes like. We were not disappointed! The ambience there is really nice. Has an outdoor open front and plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy the company of friends and eat really good pizza. I want to say I want to give a demerit to the fact that it's a very open place and there are a lot of tables and there was a single person doing the entire service for the whole entire restaurant, including the bar paying for stuff and serving all the tables. However, this person was really really really good at handling the tables. Thank you for making an enjoyable day

Took so damn long to get my pizza... it wasn't that busy. Maybe 3 other full tables already dined in. 30+ mins for 2 thin pizza?? A deep dish pizza they already state it's 45 mins. A sign is posted at the bar. So how long does a THIN pizza take?? I guess just about the same amount of time... that should be disclosed because I'm under the impression don't order deep dish if you don't want to wait long. Sit and wait, sit and wait, sit and wait.... The least the waiter could do was check in and update. I had to grab waiters attention myself to ask for an update. They said it usually takes 30-45 mins. And as we asked, we were told our food was being plated. Almost was about to leave too... Ordered a salad & meatball panini too. Salad came first per request, my aunt finished that way before the pizza were even served. And the panini... it's a sandwich with fries. How the heck that also take so long??? See another table who came in way after us get their fries. We ordered fires too with panini. So what's the hold up on the panini??? Maybe they want to serve the food all together. Overall, the salad and panini were basic items on the menu. I'd skip on it & focus on their pizzas. The pizza was delicious. Other reviews say it's worth the wait. I'll give credit to that. There is a nice cheese pull and the texture in the thin crust was awesome. It was a soft crunchy crust. We got a regular pepperoni & the Bestseller with added sausage & garlic. Recommend if you like garlic. It extra flavor.

May 11, 2026 Never tried this style before and today seemed like a good time. I grew up in central New Jersey, between two powerhouse pizza cities (New York & Phila.) so when it comes to pizza, I can be a pretty tough critic. This style has a cracker thin crust with a buttery taste. It was cut differently than regular pizza and I found that easy to eat. I ordered a 10' and for one, it's enough. Besides, I took a few pieces home. The taste of the sauce and toppings were good. I usually drink beer with my pizza but today, I just wanted a cold Mr. Pibb. Went perfectly with the pizza. Now, whenever you dine on 2nd street in Long Beach, parking can be a challenge but I lucked up this time. I was there just before 1pm. Service was good and given with a smile. All in all, recommend to those who have never tried this style of pizza. Always remember to tip your server!

The maple bourbon wings were delicious and bacon was a nice touch really added to the flavor profile. I also prefer the fried pickles they were deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was nice and they had the World Cup games on. I also prefer Rance favorite deep dish. It was tasty but not a tru deep dish but close enough. Overall I would go again. The service was good as well.

I finally had the opportunity to try Rance's and I really wanted to love it since it's in the perfect location and Chicago style pizza isn't easy to find in these parts of town. Sadly, the cornbread crust isn't for everyone and it makes for a really thick consistency and overpowering taste. However, the waitress was really sweet. The bourbon wings were so delicious and the ranch dressing is what I will be back for.

The Food was great. Service was great. Definitely going back next time in Long Beach.

Spicy Thai Wings-close runner up to best wings of Long Beach!

If you're looking for the best wings in Long Beach (or the entire WORLD!) then come to Rance's! It's a toss up between which of their wings are the best and I'm ALMOST at a dead tie between the maple bacon bourbon and the spicy Thai peanut. BUT there is a winner and I've decided the msple bacon bourbon wings take the CROWN as the official best wings in along Beach! They also serve up a killer a Chicago-style deep dish with a cornbread crust (pro-tip: order a side of honey to dip your crust in!) I'm also a fan of their thin crust pizza. But the wings are TRULY the star and should be world famous. There is metered street parking and a nearby lot that usually has spots to park in. The service is fine, I used to have a favorite server who no longer works there and now I'd say the service is fine and I typically get takeout. The ambiance is open windows and lots of dog watching on Long Beach's beautiful 2nd st on Belmont Shore. It gives open seating and bar vibes. Check this place out for the wings and the Chicago deep dish!

I was not prepared!!! I was only a little hungry when I came to eat lunch here with my buddy. They have a great selection of beers and some cider.and seltzer too. We got the buffalo wings for the appetizer... Best I've had in a while. We ordered a medium stuffed pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and olives. Soooo good but I had to take a couple slices home. I've never been to Chicago bit people have said this is the place to go for thatvstyle.of pizza. GREAT PLACE.! Service was awesome. Environment is awesome too... can't get any better than a patio seat on an 80* January day near the beach. Highly recommend... that you come hungry.

What would I do without Rance's?! I am not from Chicago, but find their deep dish pizza to be the best I've ever had. Crispy crust, GENEROUS toppings, always hot and fresh, and served by genuinely nice people. The space is open and airy, and it's a great place to go when you want to watch a game or have a leisurely day or evening out. The pizza takes an hour to cook, but it's SO worth it! Awesome salads and wings, and a very robust beer menu too!

Decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. Our server David greeted us with a smile. Food was ok. Staff extremely friendly. I ordered the thin sausage and it seemed a tad big watery in flavor however all the other items were delish. Metered parking on the west side of the building or you can park on the east of the restaurant and earn some steps! One thing I will say is I wished David stopped by more to check on us!

Rance's Chicago Pizza Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Rance's Chicago Pizza

Do they show games with the sound on or do they show games with music in the background? I want to go see Game 7, but I don't know if they will have the game on with the sound.

Do they still have outdoor seating?

    Yes, they do.

Is there any valet parking or a paid parking lot so you don't have to hunt for a parking meter or look for side street parking? How much do they cost?

I only seen street parking that's metered . I doubt they have Valet parking right now even if it was…

Do they have gluten free options available?

    Yes they do !

Do you offer outdoor dining currently? If so, do you take reservations?

Good Evening, we do have an out door dining area set up however seating is limited and we do not except parties over 6 guests and we only offer tables as a first come basis. We seat our last dine in at 9PM, Friday Saturday, and 8PM…

Im a relocated Chicagoan & always on the prowl for some semblence of real Chicago Pizza. Are Owners from Chicagoland? The reviews mention butter crust which is very authentic deep dish crust . Willing to travel from SFV to LBC for authenticity.

Nothing will compare to the original. This is a very good alternative to home and customer focused. I am used to Detroit deep dish and have been to Chicago a few times for pizza. This has been one of the better pizza's we have had west of Las Vegas.

    Do they deliver?

We deliver through postmates, doordash and grubhub.

Do you play the BEARS games?

Yes we Proudly do! Every Bears game will always have sound on. In addition, we will be holding a raffle this season, one entry per game in store only for a chance to win autographed merchandise on the last game of the season. We also have weekly…

Do you have a Wednesday special?

Yes 2$ off Wings Wednesday when you order a Pizza, in house only.

    What time is happy hour?

    Mon - Thurs 3pm to 6pm

    Any vegan options?

I would say no. I just had to look at the menu again myself.

Does this restaurant allow dogs on the patio?

    Yes, pet friendly

    Are dogs allowed?

They absolutely are welcome on the patio.

    Is there a corkage fee?

I believe it was $5 when we went. It was very inexpensive compared to most restaurants.

    Are there any public parking?

Metered parking on the street and a few close by lots all metered though.

I decided to check the Resy app to try somewhere new besides the 3 restaurants across the street from me, and surprisingly found an opening at 7:45pm on a Saturday night! I walked there from my house so thankfully did not have to worry about parking. I felt completely comfortable from the moment I sat down. The atmosphere is warm and casual, there was live music and a lively group of people on the covered outdoor backyard. My server was lovely as well, attentive, but never felt rushed. Everything I ordered was delicious and perfectly paced. I started with the fried artichokes which I had never had before, but I love artichokes thanks to my Italian grandmother. So light and crispy. Then I had the caprese, what a stunning salad this is! The avocado was a bit random to me as I have never seen one with a caprese before and it was hard as a rock, but still ate the whole thing. I ordered the pasta alla routa Cacio E Pepe which I did not realize was $65 upon the time of ordering, but that's on me for not looking that closely. They told me ahead of time when it was coming out so I could video it being made inside the cheese wheel if I wanted since they couldn't come to me being that the backyard is covered in rocks. Thought this was nice since I paid so much for it, may as well be able to share the experience with others. I enjoyed two glasses of sangria with my dinner and finished with some pistachio gelato. All in all a great experience, I just wish the pasta was like $20 cheaper but lesson learned. I don't know that I would come here often since I spent $190 on dinner for myself, but I would come back for date night, or an anniversary, or a special occasion, and have already recommended since going.

The first indication that something was off was a minor one- I had called in for a reservation and the reservation had been made for the following week. It seemed like a simple mistake and they were going to be able to seat us anyways, so it seemed like a "no harm, no foul" situation. In retrospect, it was a sign of disorganization and ultimately, poor management. We got seated and immediately noticed two things: 1) there was no A/C and it was sweltering inside and 2) there were tons of flies. To make matters worse, no one is doing anything to address those problems. There was one measly little fan in the whole restaurant and no countermeasures for flies, i.e., electric fly traps, bag traps outside, or sticky traps. We were offered water, but it was room temp, which in that room meant that it was warm. Service was lackadaisical, and when I ordered a bottle of cold sparkling water, we waited about 30 minutes and then pointed out that it had never come. We ordered, but before the food came out, I took my son to the restroom. That was a mistake. The restroom was dimly lit, the waste bin was overflowing, and there was feces smeared on the toilet tank. Obviously, restaurant staff can't control what patrons do in the restroom, but I would expect that a restaurant would routinely check its facilities throughout the night and clean them when necessary. And if this is what the public-facing side of the restaurant looks like, what does the kitchen look like? I got back to the table where my wife and sister were waving menus to keep flies from landing on the food. I shared my concerns about the cleanliness of the restaurant and we considered abandoning dinner, but since we had invited guests and weren't sure if we could get a table anywhere else at the last minute, we decided to power through. An unfortunate aspect of this dinner was that the food was as good as my wife and I remember it. I say unfortunate because the food was almost completely overshadowed by the terrible conditions in the restaurant, lackluster service, and my continuing concern that we were going to end up with food poisoning. The roasted cauliflower with pepperoncinis was as good as every other time we've gotten it (and since recreated at home). The pasta dishes we got were rich and flavorful. The pork chop was so tender that you could cut it without a knife. But trying to get a bite in while sweating, swatting away flies, and inspecting every dish for some indication that's unsafe is far from an enjoyable experience. I didn't want to stick around and order dessert, but one of our guests optimistically believed it might change our minds about the experience. Instead, it only amplified my concerns that there was poor food handling going on. The single chocolate budino we ordered was more like chocolate soup, meaning it either wasn't cooked enough to set up, or was melting because it wasn't being refrigerated adequately. I don't blame the staff for the poor conditions in the restaurant. They looked like a bunch of kids (relatively) who didn't know any better or weren't empowered to make improvements. I do, however, blame management. Ellie's used to be a great little restaurant. My wife and I had been there a handful of times and recommended it frequently. The food shows that the restaurant still has potential to be good, but the conditions in that restaurant were gross and it's very obvious that management isn't interested in making them better. It's a real shame.

It's classy, the kind of place you'd see in a late-90s/early-00s romcom date scene. The staff was attentive and kind, though we asked for coffee at the end and it never came--we had a show to get to, so unfortunately had to leave without it. We started with the melanzane pizza. It was tasty, but I just realized later it was missing the nduja sausage listed on the menu. For my entrée, I had the paccheri pasta with braised short rib. The beef itself was rich, tender, and full of flavor--reminded me of an Italian birria, which I loved. But the rigatoni tasted undercooked, which was disappointing. My fiancé ordered the tagliata, and wow--she definitely picked the better dish. The steak was perfectly seasoned, cooked to a beautiful medium rare, and paired with a silky potato purée that was absolutely delicious. Overall, it's a romantic spot with some standout flavors, but the small misses kept it from being a perfect experience.

Right from entering the hotel lobby we were met with a beautiful restaurant that made me feel confident I had chosen the right place. The lighting, the table settings, the decor, all culminated in a beautiful restaurant for a wonderful evening. We had the special spinach ravioli which was divine, and the carbonara (was great but slightly salty). The cocktails were absolutely delicious, i highly recommend the old fashioned and the nettuno spritz! The calamari was fantastic, and the bone marrow was okay and awkward to eat. Our waitress was amazing and provided top-notch service that made my friend feel extra special, especially with a complimentary dessert for her birthday! We didn't expect that and felt extra cared for. Will definitely be back for more special nights or just on occasions where I'm craving a high quality meal and experience.

Let's start with the win: the burger was "the best he's had in a long time"--which says a lot. Kudos on the burger! The banana smoothie also got a thumbs-up. Everything else? Meh. The pancake was okay. The scrambled eggs were... weird. Tiny little egg bits that had me wondering, are these real eggs? I asked for crispy bacon; it wasn't, so I couldn't eat it. The breakfast potatoes tasted reheated--no crisp, not much flavor, no joy. And the London Fog? Don't expect Starbucks loveliness. The plain black coffee was better. I also had the grapefruit juice, it was bitter, but tasted fresh squeezed, which I appreciate. Service was good. My server saw that I didn't eat my food and tried to make it better. The venue is nice, but if you're coming for great food--burger aside--we didn't find it here. The velvet chairs are comfortable and beautiful, but the stains and spills were evident. I was worried when I sat down about what was on the chairs getting on my dress. Overall, it's a place we'd only return to if we were craving that burger, everything else was a fail. I left hungry. Last morning here at the Fairmont. Tried breakfast at Nettuno again... disappointed and leaving hungry again. This time we had oatmeal (needed to add water, so dry we stuck the spoon in it and it stood straight up and didn't fall over), fruit (good), boiled eggs (took 20 minutes), and the avocado toast with a fried egg. It was not good. The menu says it comes with kale, but I received mixed greens with it, not kale and the flavor was bad. It's hard to make bad avocado toast, but they did. Disappointing. Plus, service was very slow today. Our order came out incomplete and out of order. The atmosphere is beautiful, but this restaurant has a lot to work on to be worthy of its prices and the Fairmont brand. Second fail.

My wife has an appointment at Lather this afternoon so we decided to have lunch at Italian homemade…read morecompany near Lather. We had a great time to find some new hand care products @Lather and went to discover an authentic italian restaurant which lots of Yelpers mentioned. My wife said, we have to order at the front, then they bring the foods to the table but the owner took our orders, and brought the foods so fast just like other Italian restaurant. We love meat lasagna, pasta w bolonese sauce, and some flat breads like appetizer pizza. We ordered 3, lasagna, tagliatelle bolonese, flat bread sandwich called Cassone w sausage, bell pepper, onions. I had some italian red wine per glass ($14). First, I loved so much my lasagna and kept eating until finish my entire portion. I give 10 stars. My wife's pasta, she said pasta is too thick, might be on purpose? She likes soft, thin texture handmade tagliatelle. For the first time, we ordered flat bread sandwich. The sandwich flavor was good, but not the dough for flat bread. Well, we tried here for the 1st time after shopping. Today was almost 81 this afternoon. Hot and humid.....unluckily AC was broken so he opened the entrance door. One big fly bothered a lot annoying us eating the foods. And so hot inside restaurant. Overall, I liked my lasagna a lot, not really tagliatelle bolonese, nor the flat bread sandwich. If AC was working during lunch time. We felt much comfortable to enjoy our foods. One thing, I loved the red wine but the portion was not enough for $14. Even my wife said, not much for this price. I got 2 glasses of italian red wine, not enough. The view was great ocean side from the patio. This is a strong point eating here for the view. My wife saw the live pasta cooking show, a chef made the pasta, stretching the pasta dough in the kitchen....great show! Fun! Hopefully AC runs well especially hot summer season, the portions of pastas and wines might be more generous for the future.

A very pleasant lunch! Was at 2nd and PCH attending a YEE and found Italian Homemade afterwards…read more Service is top notch. The staff are welcoming and kind. The owner or manager? chatted w/us. He mentioned that many customers come in for a quick bite and the portions of the lunch special seem adequate for that. Hubby got chose the meat lasagna that comes with a side salad. I wanted something plant based that day so vegetable lasagna and side salad was for me. Buonissimo which is very delicious in Italian! From my photos, you can see that they have various items for sale such as wine, oils, ground coffee, pasta and more. They also offer pasta classes Delightful Italian food for sure. You can find them by the marina side on the main level. Grazie, Italian Homemade!
