    CK Breakfast Burrito

Ok, so I'm going to be brutally honest here, their breakfast brunch buffet isn't too impressive; however! Their À la Carte menu's pretty amazing! I loved the chocolate vegan parfait with the chia seed puddings, their potatoes are sooooo goood, my son was going at it with their breakfast burritos, pancakes, etc. My husband loved their smoothies, he would be getting a smoothie from here with every meal! Service was wonderful, our waitress was super nice. The ambiance is nice, I would recommend sitting outside~ their outdoor sitting area made me feel like I was back in Hawaii :) it's a lovely place, just don't expect the breakfast buffet to be like Ritz Carlton.

First time customers at the wonderful Catalina kitchen at the beautiful Terranea resort! Upscale options and portions, enjoying the outstanding striped bass, delicate French dip au jus sandwich with superb brussels sprouts, and perfectly seared salmon with tasty fries. Excellent Customer Service, gorgeous ocean views... Can't ask for too much more.

Decided to have lunch here on a lovely Saturday afternoon! We had to wait about 5-10 minutes to get seated. Our server was Alyssa and she was very nice. I had the mushroom sandwich(vegan) with a side of macaroni and cheese. And husband had the crispy chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. For dessert we had the caramel cheesecake creme brulee. Everything was delicious and even though it looked like it wouldn't fill you up, it definitely did. We were welcome to the outdoor seating and it was very lovely! Definitely a great spot to come to for lunch! I would definitely come back!

You pay for the view not the food! I wish I could say we loved the food, but everything was mid besides the fig pizza. ‍ much rather have left the resort & picked up food elsewhere.

Catalina Kitchen in Rancho Palos Verdes, within the Terranea Resort is such a great spot for a family meal or special occasion. You can either self-park or have your car valeted ($10 with restaurant validation). The outdoor seating is perfect for kids - plenty of space and a relaxed vibe - plus you get a gorgeous view of the ocean while you dine. I ordered the Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass, which was perfectly cooked and did not smell fishy at all (like a previous Yelper had mentioned.) The fish was fresh, and a nice portion for the price ($38). I also had a cocktail, the Caliente Kiss, which was good for a nice summer night. My daughter had the Kid's Mozzarella Cheese Flatbread, which she liked. I just wish the kid's plates would offer a veggie or fruit on the side. I appreciate it when restaurants actually have a kid's meal that offer healthier options. They also do an amazing job celebrating birthdays. We were surprised with a beautiful complimentary birthday dessert board that really made the experience extra special. It was large enough for our table of 8. The board consisted of small pieces of the Caramel Cheesecake Crème Brûlée and a full-size Chocolate Lava Cake with icecream on top. There were also fruits and flowers decorating the board. Probably the best complimentary birthday board I've ever seen/had. Between the thoughtful service, scenic setting, and tasty food, Catalina Kitchen is a wonderful place to enjoy with family and friends.

Came here for breakfast 2 times during our stay and dinner 1 night. The crab eggs Benedict were delicious! As were the normal Bennie's. The side of potatoes really didn't need to be included. Staff was attentive during breakfast.

The staff were very friendly. We went for dinner since it was the only option when we got in late. The mac and cheese was good, very creamy. The burger wasnt anything special. The floral (old) fashioned was made great. We went for a couple breakfasts and everything was fine. No complaints, but nothing stood out. They have a huge seating area, but sit everyone right on top of each other for some reason.

Gorgeous ocean views from the patio. Service by Chanel and Mario was perfection. We enjoyed the ham, cheddar and spinach omelet with crispy red bliss potatoes. The bagel with lox was beautifully presented alongside sliced tomato, red onion and capers. The bagel was toasted perfectly. My experience has been often under-toasted bagels. Our servers kept the coffee coming and were attentive and cheerful. Outstanding breakfast experience.

One of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in a while, especially with what would be expected at a "luxury resort." We had a reservation, and also a dining credit for "dinner for two" though couldn't get a clear answer from anyone working there what that covered, or even from the front desk. When we called, they said it supposedly covered 1 appetizer, 1 dessert, 2 entrees -- but we ended up being charged for at least one of those things (which we wouldn't have ordered if we knew it was not covered.) The Service when we were greeted and brought to our table was great, but our waiter was not. He was very frantic, running around (despite there not being that many tables full), and mumbling, barely staying at our table long enough to get our orders or anything. It also took forever-- our reservation was for 7:30 and we didn't get back to the room until 9:30 or 10, and all we did was wait for food and eat, we didn't linger. To start, got the Garden Party Mocktail, which was just a thyme-berry-soda, not worth the price, and not very sweet, had to add splenda to it. Fried Devilled Eggs - Didn't taste like an Egg, the frying of the white made it kind of like tofu or a not-cheesey mozzarella stick, the yolk on top lacked flavor -- overall was very bland and not a great combo. Also $13 for 2 eggs is steep. The Entrees. The Chicken was incredibly bland. Like, no seasoning at all. I never salt/pepper my food but had to here because it seemed like they just threw chicken into an oven and called it a day. The texture was also rubbery/a bit overdone. Horrible tasting and there was no flavor or elevation to it, just a hunk of meat. The fries were also soggy and bland since they were dumped on the plate with the meat juices. The Filet was cooked well, very tender BUT also lacked any flavor. Just meat. The mac and cheese... was just mac. Actually, it was just pasta. It barely had butter (unsalted) and a little powdered parmesan on top. Crazy for the prices, even with it being partially covered, the bill still ended up being $55 (from ~$140) for horrible food and service, and being told that it was a complimentary dinner. The one star is for the Creme Brulee Caramel Cheesecake, which was very tasty.

Spent the morning of my birthday at the beautiful Catalina Kitchen! Had the most amazing waitress Chloe who helped with the menu and remained very attentive to us the entire time. We ordered: Pancakes 1000/10 Crab Cake Benedict 9.5/10 Eggs Benedict w/ Chicken sausage 8/10 Herbal Tea excellent presentation 10/10 Steak & Eggs 3/10 Loved every moment of this experience. The ambiance, the food, the servers, the beautiful cozy blankets they give and the patio heaters were ALL AMAZING!! 10/10 Recommend

Service here was great. This is the restaurant located inside of the Terranea resort, overlooking their pool area and the ocean. There is a nice variety on the menu and considering the location the prices are fair. The food was made to order quickly and everything was delicious. The tempura asparagus was very good, as was the salmon and my husband enjoyed his steak. They have delicious cocktails as well, ideal, easy lunch or dinner while staying at the resort.

Is the Sunday Brunch dog friendly?

Catalina Kitchen is not dog friendly (not even out on the patio).

Does anyone know if the Catalina Kitchen answers the phone? I have been calling for a week and no one answers. Is there a way to get information? When I do get transferred the phone just rings and rings. Has anyone ever gotten someone to answer?

The Catalina Kitchen is at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Call the Hotel.

    Is this place Dog friendly?

    Yes!

Is there a dedicated phone line for them? Whenever I call, I'm put on a long telephone hold and it only talks about the spa. Can reservations be made just for the Kitchen?

Do they still offer friday seafood buffet?

    No they don't since covid

Do they still have Social/Happy Hour as of September 2020?

Is there a dog friendly patio?

I don't know. I have never seen dogs in the patio.

Do they still have the Seafood Buffet for 2019 on Friday nights and what is the price for Adults?

They stopped doing the buffet. Terrible decision and so disappointing. This used to be our favorite place to celebrate and take guests from out of town. No longer anything really special here unfortunately. We miss all the amazing servers there…

Looking to visit for Sunday brunch January 2019. Is there crab legs still? Two different price options: Snow & Alaskan?

Honestly lately their menu changes daily it’s really annoying I don’t recommend it anymore

    Any vegan options?

Yes my favorite one is the Hummus appetizer

Do you have to get the Sunday brunch buffet if dining on a Sunday? Or, can we order off of a regular brunch menu?

7-9 am is a limited breakfast menu 9-3 brunch only no menu 💕💕

With the renovations, are there any changes to the menu? And do they still offer the free entree surf turf for a diner's birthday?

No free surf and turf entree. Complimentary dessert given instead.

Sushi, free flowing champagne, prime rib, crepes, crab, waffles, eggs Benedict, pancakes, chocolate dipped fruit, breads, bagels, cheeses, salad, Korean short ribs, shrimp, shrimp scampi, pasta, omelettes, oysters, fruit & figs, and sausage & bacob. I got the swordfish tacos and was very disappointed. There was barely any fish in it or cabbage salad, only two tacos. Everyone else seemed to be satisfied with their food. First, the positives: The location is unmatched. Having dinner while watching the gorgeous sunset over the Pacific was unforgettable. The tall male host at the entrance was also wonderfully kind, professional, and set a great tone for the evening. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag but mostly good. The burgers and tacos were flavorful and delicious. However, I would skip the Fried Calamari--it was almost entirely heavy batter, and it felt like there was barely any actual squid inside. Unfortunately, our dining experience took a sharp turn for the worst due to our female server. We were served our main courses before our salads or appetizers ever made it to the table, and we weren't even given any utensils to eat with. After waiting and searching for our server to no avail, I flagged down another staff member to ask for utensils and let them know about the missing appetizers. Shortly after, our server marched over to our table with an incredibly defensive and intimidating attitude, asking us if we had "complained" about her to another staff member. The hostile tone was shocking. To top it off, she forgot our drinks, and when we had to ask for them again, she gave us an exasperated, annoyed look. It is so disappointing when a beautiful, special occasion is ruined by someone's terrible attitude. While the scenery and most of the food were fantastic, management really needs to address the service standards here.

It's the kind of place where you settle into a chair, sip something strong, and suddenly two hours disappear. What makes it special is the live music. They have people on golf carts take you all around the grounds to where you are going So I highly suggest not just coming to the lobby bar and to check out more of the resort. I could spend hours here I can't wait for the gingerbread lounge for Christmas 2026.
