I'm currently here for Mother's Day and I'm sad to report that this is officially the longest I've ever waited for food in any establishment. For a steakhouse, you would expect a higher standard of service. Our rvsp for a party of 6 was at 1:30pm. We got seated at 1:45pm. Our server right off the bat mentioned he is not familiar with brunch and is usually only here for dinner and couldn't help us on the menu. We ordered our drinks and one appetizer which came out in about 10 mins. We ordered our food at 1:50pm. It is now 3:10 pm. You do the math. People around our table who got here before us still didn't get their food either. The server came by after 45 mins and apologized and admitted they were not prepared. The server offered complimentary bottomless mimosas which was appreciated but didn't make up for the wait. Literally 3 tables next me were so unhappy. I had to apologize to my mom for the wait at I hope this would be a great steakhouse experience. Sad to report I won't be coming here again. Stopped in Friday for a light bite and WOW, was it great! They had tomato bisque as a special with delicious croutons. So smooth, creamy and flavorful. Four of us had dinner here to celebrate a birthday. The food was generally good, with some hits and misses. The shrimp cocktail amd Brussels sprouts salad were good, but the crispy lumpia were just ok with not much flavor. The steaks were well prepared and properly seasoned. But the mac n cheese was mostly mac and not much cheese. The asparagus was creative and it was nice that they brought us a birthday dessert. Our server was also a bit inconsistent - disappearing for long stretches of time. We waited over 15 minutes at the end of our meal to get our check and finally had to flag down a different server. My daughter and I came here for our annual pre Valentine's Day dinner -- a tradition that means so much to me because she's my first love, my first true love, and my forever Valentine. We had such a wonderful experience! I ordered the ribeye steak, which was cooked perfectly, and she had the shake beef with sticky rice -- it was absolutely delicious. We each ordered a dessert (because why not?!) and both were amazing. Oh, and I must add -- their lumpia egg rolls are our favorite. Definitely a must-try! We order them every time. The drinks were also so good. They didn't have exactly what I was craving on the menu, but our waiter was incredibly accommodating. I told him I wanted something similar to a lemon drop, and he went to the bartender and had a custom berry cocktail made for me -- and let me tell you, it hit the spot! I would honestly go back just for that drink. It wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The vibe was lively without being overwhelming, and one of my favorite things about this place is the music. I should have known better... Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are probably the two days you just don't go out to eat. But I thought brunch would be different, and honestly, I thought if anyone could pull it off, Pacific Standard could. Wrong. We made a reservation for 7 people at 1:00 PM to celebrate both my mom and mother-in-law. We waited to eat all day and were really looking forward to it. First disappointment was being told the trio option that's on the website wasn't available. Not a huge issue, just a letdown. But then things really went downhill. We didn't even order until around 1:30. Long wait, but we tried to be understanding because it was a holiday. The food finally came out after 3:00 PM and was honestly terrible. My child's pancake had to be sent back THREE times: * First one was freezing cold * Second one came out burnt to a crisp * Third one still wasn't edible My chopped salad was basically a bowl of cabbage. Nothing "chopped" about it besides cabbage overload. The steak and eggs my husband ordered tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. At the end, the response was essentially: "Sorry about that." They said we took off your drinks... two sparkling waters, and apple juice, and comped the brie appetizer. Pacific Standard Prime is situated in an interesting complex. The facility is a mix of residential and retail. Retail and some parking are at street level; residential is above. Entrance and egress of the parking structure is easy. Just pay attention to which parking spaces are reserved for businesses, and which are for residential guest parking. On this visit, our table ordered: an appetizer of sugar cube melon and prosciutto ($20.00), and a bottle of wine ($60.00). For entrees: The Australian Lamb Loin & Riblets ($60.00); Norwegian Halibut ($60.00); and 16 oz Black Opal Rib-eye ($95.00). For sides: Brussel Sprouts ($15.00) and Sautéed Mushrooms ($15.00). For dessert, the table shared a mixed berry sundae ($15.00). With tax of $33.15, out ticket was $373.15, before gratuity. The lamb was prepared well. The caption "loin and riblets" describes the presentation. (They're fancy lamb chops.) The lamb had all of the best features of lamb, without gaminess (a reason why some do not like lamb). The plate included moussaka. If you are dining alone, I consider this a complete meal, without the need of an à la carte side dish. The halibut was prepared well; but it verged on dry. I attribute this less to kitchen preparation, and more to this one piece of fish. The dish also came with lobster ravioli and asparagus, in a lobster-cognac sauce. If you dine alone, this is a complete plate, without the necessity of side dishes. The "Opal" rib-eye was described as beef derived from a cross of wagyu and European cattle. The steak had a good flavor. It was aged, but not gamey. It was moist, but not fatty. The steak was the plate. If dining alone, consider ordering a side dish. This restaurant has an indoor dining room; some outdoor seating; as well as a bar section, with a limited number of tables. Overall, the decor is quite nice. It was not busy during our visit. I attribute this to the fact that dinner service starts at 5:00pm, and we dined at 5:30pm. Regardless, our server (Stefani) was very good. This review is for a cooking class I took recently at the restaurant. The best part is the honor bar, so if you're into drinking generous amounts of wine this is your place! They had a Chardonnay and a cab that day. The cost of the class included the food, honor bar and gratuity so a great value for heavy wine drinkers all for $100. In terms of the food it was also good, with the best dish being the Jidori chicken mushroom and scallion crepes. The $10 sourdough bread was enough for about 1 person, the calamari was good, and the server himself was educated on the menu. The food itself was insanely overpriced and very small portions. Each side came in a bowl about the size of a cereal bowl and wasn't enough to split between two adults properly. The steaks were fine and the temps were correct. I truly don't believe mine was SRF or that the filet's were prime, or the ribeye was Tajima. They lacked marbling and texture for all 4 of them. Like the last reviewer, I was also here on Mother's Day and also had a negative experience. Our server also told us off the bat that he normally works dinners, not brunch. Our food took about an hour to arrive, but we were the lucky ones as the tables around us waited much, much longer. My husband had gotten bottomless mimosas, but was only able to get two refills as our server wasn't around. Some of our items also got mixed up, and two dishes that we didn't order came to our table, while other dishes we did order never arrived. Each time we asked for the dishes that didn't arrive, our server asked if we wanted to just take it off the check - making it quite obvious he didn't want to have to get them. Unlike the previous reviewer, we were not offered free mimosas or steaks. We did see the owner there, but he did not stop at our table the way he normally has during previous visits. If this were my first time at PSP, I'd never return. However, I've been here numerous other times and had great experiences, hence the three stars and not one. Some of the basics were there. Decent ambiance. A perfect Old Fashion. An amazing bourbon list if that's really all in stock. The server was super nice. The bread boule was kinda perfect. The steak (Black Opal New York?) was great... as it should be for $75. The drink arrived pretty quickly. Downsides... Everything else showed up about 45 to 60 minutes later. That's too long, right? At least get me my bread within 10 or 12 minutes. We were there when they opened and there could not have been more than 6 people in there when we sat down... are you really waiting until game time to start baking the bread that half the tables are going to be ordering? I mean, my back-of-house restaurant expertise kind of ends with four seasons of The Bear... but I've been eating in them for over half a century so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. And it wasn't this. I could see what the issue was... a party of 8 people got seated about five minutes after us and that was all she wrote. But if one semi-large party is going to impact other tables... you gotta figure out a better game plan. The last thing you want... the last thing I want... is to have me, the customer, craning my neck like an owl on meth, trying to catch the server's eye to see where the f the food is. Aside from that, the only other two things we ordered were brussels spouts and a salad. To me, a Wedge Salad is just a big chunk of iceberg lettuce and the only think that makes it fun is the decadent addition of bacon, blue cheese crumbles, shallots and tomatoes. This had some kind of ground up bacon and not much of it or anything else. Anyway, out food arrived at about the hour mark. My wife and I came there for "classic" steak house... playing The Strokes 10 decibels too loud did not add to the ambiance. We were seated in a cozy booth with comfortable high-back seats and decorative extenders that provided a semi-private atmosphere. The restaurant's decor was charming, featuring elegant chandeliers and a wooden trellis ceiling. The white color scheme, accented by stylish green plant motifs on the walls and beams, created a fresh ambiance. A standout feature was the impressive wine wall, which added to the overall appeal. Plus, they passed my bathroom cleanliness test--an essential for any place aiming for five stars! For those just wanting drinks, the well-stocked bar had televisions, and that night they were airing the ALCS, where the Yankees triumphed over the Guardians, 8-6. EVERYTHING was perfect! I am a total foodie and this is the first time every single dish was made PERFECTLY on point!! My friend and I have had a monthly dinner for years and we both agreed this was one of the best! Cream of broccoli soup: Delicious, flavorful and NOT too creamy. You could see and taste the broccoli. Filet Mignon: cooked perfectly medium as ordered. We chose the Peppercorn Sauce (recommended by our server) and it was delicious and not overly spicy. Brussels Sprouts: the gochujang was not overdone. Hint of heat, but could still taste the vegetables. The sprouts were not overcooked. Very tasty! Scalloped potatoes: made with three cheeses. We thought it may come "too cheesy", but no! Perfection!! Potatoes were not soggy and it was served with just the right amount of the sauce; wasn't drowning the potatoes. Lemon curd tiramisu: what a nice twist on this dessert! Not overly sweet. We were so full by then but couldn't stop eating this! I want this again for dessert! Pinot Noir: unfortunately don't remember the label but it was delicious! Though lighter than a Cabernet Sauvignon and the Bordeaux, it was balanced and went well with our meal. Service: Mark was our server and he was fantastic! Very upbeat and pleasant demeanor. Professional. Just the right amount of "checking in", each course served in the appropriate timing and made great recommendations for wine and sauce for the filet mignon. He also explained the quality of the meat, where it is from, etc. PSP serves quality protein and fresh vegetables from farmers markets. Terrible atmosphere. Paper menus. Old wine bottles used as water holders. The price did not meet the experience. The food was poorly seasoned and lacked any flavor. Both the ribeye and the filet were dry and terrible. Just terrible. read more
