I'm currently here for Mother's Day and I'm sad to report that this is officially the longest I've ever waited for food in any establishment. For a steakhouse, you would expect a higher standard of service. Our rvsp for a party of 6 was at 1:30pm. We got seated at 1:45pm. Our server right off the bat mentioned he is not familiar with brunch and is usually only here for dinner and couldn't help us on the menu. We ordered our drinks and one appetizer which came out in about 10 mins. We ordered our food at 1:50pm. It is now 3:10 pm. You do the math. People around our table who got here before us still didn't get their food either. The server came by after 45 mins and apologized and admitted they were not prepared. The server offered complimentary bottomless mimosas which was appreciated but didn't make up for the wait. Literally 3 tables next me were so unhappy. I had to apologize to my mom for the wait at I hope this would be a great steakhouse experience. Sad to report I won't be coming here again. My daughter and I came here for our annual pre Valentine's Day dinner -- a tradition that means so much to me because she's my first love, my first true love, and my forever Valentine. The drinks were also so good. They didn't have exactly what I was craving on the menu, but our waiter was incredibly accommodating. I told him I wanted something similar to a lemon drop, and he went to the bartender and had a custom berry cocktail made for me -- and let me tell you, it hit the spot! I would honestly go back just for that drink. It wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The vibe was lively without being overwhelming, and one of my favorite things about this place is the music. They play such a great mix of R&B, hip-hop, and a little bit of 80s -- it's the perfect blend and always sets the mood. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. Fries are to die for! Such a funky shape. You can ask for them without the beef tallow, ask for the veggie fries. Service is friendly and they check in often. We made a reservation for 7 people at 1:00 PM to celebrate both my mom and mother-in-law. We waited to eat all day and were really looking forward to it. First disappointment was being told the trio option that's on the website wasn't available. Not a huge issue, just a letdown. But then things really went downhill. We didn't even order until around 1:30. Long wait, but we tried to be understanding because it was a holiday. The food finally came out after 3:00 PM and was honestly terrible. My child's pancake had to be sent back THREE times: * First one was freezing cold * Second one came out burnt to a crisp * Third one still wasn't edible My chopped salad was basically a bowl of cabbage. Nothing "chopped" about it besides cabbage overload. The steak and eggs my husband ordered tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. At the end, the response was essentially: "Sorry about that." They said we took off your drinks... two sparkling waters, and apple juice, and comped the brie appetizer. To top it off, they said they also automatically added gratuity because we were a large party. Like the last reviewer, I was also here on Mother's Day and also had a negative experience. Our server also told us off the bat that he normally works dinners, not brunch. Our food took about an hour to arrive, but we were the lucky ones as the tables around us waited much, much longer. My husband had gotten bottomless mimosas, but was only able to get two refills as our server wasn't around. Some of our items also got mixed up, and two dishes that we didn't order came to our table, while other dishes we did order never arrived. Each time we asked for the dishes that didn't arrive, our server asked if we wanted to just take it off the check - making it quite obvious he didn't want to have to get them. Unlike the previous reviewer, we were not offered free mimosas or steaks. We did see the owner there, but he did not stop at our table the way he normally has during previous visits. If this were my first time at PSP, I'd never return. However, I've been here numerous other times and had great experiences, hence the three stars and not one. TL;DR - gigantic whiskey/whisky options! Amazing cuts of meat. Tomahawk steak (for 2) was tender and perfectly cooked. Great service and ambiance. I'm so happy to know an awesome steak restaurant with a HUGE whiskey library exists in the south bay! Seriously, look at the two pictures of their Whiskey menu that I included in this review...That's literally front and back lol. The owner is a big collector of them. So if you wanted to go to a nice steak restaurant and expand your whiskey palate, then this is a solid place to go. They have a variety of cuts and we went with the tomahawk. It was so delicious. Truly Exceptional in Every Way! From the moment we walked in, the experience at Pacific Standard Prime in Redondo Beach was absolutely top-notch. A warm, friendly greeting from the host set the tone for the evening, and the service only got better from there. Pacific Standard Prime is situated in an interesting complex. The facility is a mix of residential and retail. Retail and some parking are at street level; residential is above. Entrance and egress of the parking structure is easy. Just pay attention to which parking spaces are reserved for businesses, and which are for residential guest parking. On this visit, our table ordered: an appetizer of sugar cube melon and prosciutto ($20.00), and a bottle of wine ($60.00). For entrees: The Australian Lamb Loin & Riblets ($60.00); Norwegian Halibut ($60.00); and 16 oz Black Opal Rib-eye ($95.00). For sides: Brussel Sprouts ($15.00) and Sautéed Mushrooms ($15.00). For dessert, the table shared a mixed berry sundae ($15.00). With tax of $33.15, out ticket was $373.15, before gratuity. The lamb was prepared well. The caption "loin and riblets" describes the presentation. (They're fancy lamb chops.) The lamb had all of the best features of lamb, without gaminess (a reason why some do not like lamb). The plate included moussaka. If you are dining alone, I consider this a complete meal, without the need of an à la carte side dish. The halibut was prepared well; but it verged on dry. I attribute this less to kitchen preparation, and more to this one piece of fish. The dish also came with lobster ravioli and asparagus, in a lobster-cognac sauce. If you dine alone, this is a complete plate, without the necessity of side dishes. The "Opal" rib-eye was described as beef derived from a cross of wagyu and European cattle. The steak had a good flavor. It was aged, but not gamey. It was moist, but not fatty. The steak was the plate. If dining alone, consider ordering a side dish. This restaurant has an indoor dining room; some outdoor seating; as well as a bar section, with a limited number of tables. Overall, the decor is quite nice. It was not busy during our visit. I attribute this to the fact that dinner service starts at 5:00pm, and we dined at 5:30pm. Regardless, our server (Stefani) was very good. She was personable; she explained the menu accurately; and attended to our needs appropriately. read more

This review is for a cooking class I took recently at the restaurant. The best part is the honor bar, so if you're into drinking generous amounts of wine this is your place! They had a Chardonnay and a cab that day. The cost of the class included the food, honor bar and gratuity so a great value for heavy wine drinkers all for $100. In terms of the food it was also good, with the best dish being the Jidori chicken mushroom and scallion crepes. Dined here last night for the first and now only time. The service was extremely slow even though the place was 25% occupied. The $10 sourdough bread was enough for about 1 person, the calamari was good, and the server himself was educated on the menu. The food itself was insanely overpriced and very small portions. Each side came in a bowl about the size of a cereal bowl and wasn't enough to split between two adults properly. The steaks were fine and the temps were correct. I truly don't believe mine was SRF or that the filet's were prime, or the ribeye was Tajima. They lacked marbling and texture for all 4 of them. I had wanted to try this restaurant for a while, since we were looking for a higher end steakhouse near us, but sadly I was mostly disappointed. We ordered take out, which might have been one of the problems, but let me go down the line and let you all know what hit and what missed... we ordered Tempura Lobster lollipops which were the highlite of the meal ( though pricey), perfectly cooked with a nice dipping sauce. There were 4 pieces, but at $35 it was way overpriced. Next up, we ordered two salads... the BLTA wedge salad. It was a slight twist on the regular wedge, with bacon and avocado with a tasty green goddess dressing. It was too pedestrian to be anything but average. The second was the roasted beer salad, with Arugala, roasted beets, fried goat cheese , and pistachios ( well, that is how it was advertised. In reality, it lacked beats, pistachios, and fried cheese!!! Ok... a slight exaggeration, but only slightly! There were so few beets that I should sue this restaurant for false advertising! The very few that I found were so tiny, and NOT fried!! There might have been 4 or 5 small diced pieces in total. There was a single very small cube piece of fried cheese, maybe 1/4" piece. There were 0 pistachios!!! This was the biggest rip off I might have ever received!!! $18 for a heaping box of arugala with almost no beets and a tiny square of cheese was criminal! If I had dined in, I would have returned it for sure! We ordered the scallops which were spot on, and the only reason they got two stars from me. We also ordered the tagliatelle with meat sauce... good, but not worth $34. To round out our meal, we ordered shaky shaky beef with sticky rice and broccolini. The beef was nicely flavored and tender but the rice was definitely bit sticky rice... it was regular steamed rice with a sweet glaze on top. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

This steakhouse features Australian wagyu style beef steaks. I wish I had known this before I went. The only reason for the 4 stars is the flavor of the steaks was just not what I wanted. The non steak menu items were great! Service was great! But our steaks were just not satisfyingly "beefy" in flavor. And for $650 for a party of 5 (no alcohol) I wanted the steaks to satisfy. My husband and I recently came here for dinner for a date night. Reservations were easy to make via OpenTable. When I walked in I noticed a very casual bar with a TV. But the rest of the space had a more formal vibe more appropriate for a steakhouse dinner date. We sat at a lovely velvety booth that was very spacious and comfortable! We shared the following: - Kumamoto Oysters - very fresh! Loved the mignonettes it came with! - Warm Sourdough Boule - underrated item! Wow this bread was SO good! I'm not a big bread person but I really enjoyed this. It was perfectly baked, warm, soft on the inside with a delightful chewy and crispy thin crust. It came with a delicious aromatic olive oil and a compound butter with edible florals. - Porterhouse Steak - made up of a filet and New York strip, served cut from the bone and sliced. I especially enjoyed the filet side. Overall, it was a good steak but not amazing in my opinion. Not as good as Mastro's, but for the South Bay, it's probably one of the best in this area along with The Arthur J. - Charred farmers market chimichurri broccoli - skip this. I wouldn't get this again. I was expecting more of a charred flavor but it was overpowered by too much acid/citrus. It had a sour taste and an unbalanced flavor profile. Maybe it was an off day. Service here was excellent! It really stood out as a notch above the usual standard service at other restaurants. Every staff member we encountered was great. Our new favorite brunch spot. Food is delicious and ambiance is very chill. Our waiter, Chase, went out of his way to take care of us. Our favorites are Eggs Benedict and the Bulgogi breakfast (perfectly cooked chunks of steak). Service here was great. Our server (wish I remembered his name) was super attentive, had a great attitude, and really carried the night. Definitely a highlight. We started with the sourdough bread and infused olive oil. Simple, yes, but surprisingly tasty and a nice way to begin. The porterhouse was where things fell short. At $125, I was really looking forward to it. We ordered medium rare, but it took quite a while to arrive and came out more like medium to medium well. Parts of it were dry, and for the price, that was pretty disappointing. They did comp a dessert, which I appreciated, but it didn't quite balance things out -- a $15 dessert just doesn't make up for a $125 steak being off the mark. Dessert itself was good, and overall the experience wasn't bad by any means. The service and starters helped, but when the main event (the steak) misses the mark, it's tough to ignore. There were some good moments (service, starters, and sides), but not quite what I'd hoped for at this price point. Oh, and it took forever for the food to arrive. Our dinner was very good. The food was such a unique experience of flavor, however the real deal of the experience was our waiter Mark. He was superb and made sure we were well taken care of. Anything we needed, he was there. He knew how the different foods were prepared and was able to answer my many questions as being a picky eater. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We were on the lookout for a great spot to celebrate my wife's recent work successes, and she had her eye on Pacific Standard Prime, especially after seeing the stellar Yelp reviews. Our evening began with a warm welcome from Christina at the host stand. We were seated in a cozy booth with comfortable high-back seats and decorative extenders that provided a semi-private atmosphere. The restaurant's decor was charming, featuring elegant chandeliers and a wooden trellis ceiling. The white color scheme, accented by stylish green plant motifs on the walls and beams, created a fresh ambiance. A standout feature was the impressive wine wall, which added to the overall appeal. Plus, they passed my bathroom cleanliness test--an essential for any place aiming for five stars! For those just wanting drinks, the well-stocked bar had televisions, and that night they were airing the ALCS, where the Yankees triumphed over the Guardians, 8-6. You will get a few menus when you first sit down. They have an enormous whisky menu, which happens to be a favorite of mine. One of the evening's many highlights was our waiter, Seth, who was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also had a fantastic personality. When the owner, Kevin, stopped by to check on us, he described Seth as "dinner, AND A SHOW." We definitely enjoyed the show--great job, Seth, we enjoyed dining with you. Now, onto the food, which truly impressed. Chef Christine deserves applause for her culinary skills. For appetizers, we shared the Wedge salad, which was crisp and topped just right. The star of the show was the incredible country bread served with infused butter. Kevin explained the FRESH, bread-making process, and you could truly taste the difference--it was divine. For our main courses, my wife had the 8oz Wanderer Filet Mignon, cooked perfectly to her liking, while I savored the Cioppino, brimming with the ocean's treasures. The broth was delightful, complemented by three delicious pieces of bread. For beverages, I enjoyed a martini, and my wife loved her scratch-made PSP cocktail. EVERYTHING was perfect! I am a total foodie and this is the first time every single dish was made PERFECTLY on point!! My friend and I have had a monthly dinner for years and we both agreed this was one of the best! Cream of broccoli soup: Delicious, flavorful and NOT too creamy. You could see and taste the broccoli. Filet Mignon: cooked perfectly medium as ordered. We chose the Peppercorn Sauce (recommended by our server) and it was delicious and not overly spicy. Brussels Sprouts: the gochujang was not overdone. Hint of heat, but could still taste the vegetables. The sprouts were not overcooked. Very tasty! Scalloped potatoes: made with three cheeses. We thought it may come "too cheesy", but no! Perfection!! Potatoes were not soggy and it was served with just the right amount of the sauce; wasn't drowning the potatoes. Lemon curd tiramisu: what a nice twist on this dessert! Not overly sweet. We were so full by then but couldn't stop eating this! I want this again for dessert! Pinot Noir: unfortunately don't remember the label but it was delicious! Though lighter than a Cabernet Sauvignon and the Bordeaux, it was balanced and went well with our meal. Service: Mark was our server and he was fantastic! Very upbeat and pleasant demeanor. Professional. Just the right amount of "checking in", each course served in the appropriate timing and made great recommendations for wine and sauce for the filet mignon. He also explained the quality of the meat, where it is from, etc. PSP serves quality protein and fresh vegetables from farmers markets. When I lived in Texas I would partake in the local fair- steak. Now back in the south bay I took my family to the top rated steakhouse. 1 exec summary Great ambiance. Great service. Above average food. Easy access. Premium price but a place you want to dwell in and enjoy. 2- food The steaks are above average. But not quite to the level that you find in Texas. California struggles with great steak and bbq. Texas struggles with great Japanese and Mexican. The calamari appetizer was a 3.5. It was slightly better than average being not greasy. But the coating flaked off readily The side of mashed was quite good. I got the filet mignon at medium rare and it was easily a 4. I'd say it was missing just a bit of the "crust" flavor that you expect from a high temperature sear- which is why you go to steakhouses 3- service Really great support and banter with the waiter. Very attentive without being overly pushy. Great suggestions in helping to navigate the menu. The bar staff screwed up my first drink order but they fixed it immediately. 4- ambiance So cal cool. A sophisticated place where you never feel rushed (there are South Bay trendy restaurants that give you a time limit. That stresses me out). Relax, enjoy .. we ended up having too many desserts (the crème brûlée is to die for ) and after dinner digestives because they were so awesome with us just sitting there and enjoying the experience. Some of the basics were there. Decent ambiance. A perfect Old Fashion. An amazing bourbon list if that's really all in stock. The server was super nice. The bread boule was kinda perfect. The steak (Black Opal New York?) was great... as it should be for $75. The drink arrived pretty quickly. Downsides... Everything else showed up about 45 to 60 minutes later. That's too long, right? At least get me my bread within 10 or 12 minutes. We were there when they opened and there could not have been more than 6 people in there when we sat down... are you really waiting until game time to start baking the bread that half the tables are going to be ordering? I mean, my back-of-house restaurant expertise kind of ends with four seasons of The Bear... but I've been eating in them for over half a century so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. And it wasn't this. I could see what the issue was... a party of 8 people got seated about five minutes after us and that was all she wrote. But if one semi-large party is going to impact other tables... you gotta figure out a better game plan. The last thing you want... the last thing I want... is to have me, the customer, craning my neck like an owl on meth, trying to catch the server's eye to see where the f the food is. Aside from that, the only other two things we ordered were brussels spouts and a salad. I get that you are trying to do something with a basically inedible vegetable (brussels sprouts)... you have to "jazz it up"... but these were smothered in some vaguely asian semi-spicy sauce and it didn't really work and the LAST adjective I'd use to describe them would have been "crispy". (Bit we complained and the very nice server brought out some without the gochujang. They weren't any crispier or tastier but appreciated the attempt.) Last... can we talk about the "Unclassic Wedge"? Not sure why they think it was not "classic"... all the ingredients seemed pretty typical for a Wedge Salad... it was just not very good. To me, a Wedge Salad is just a big chunk of iceberg lettuce and the only think that makes it fun is the decadent addition of bacon, blue cheese crumbles, shallots and tomatoes. This had some kind of ground up bacon and not much of it or anything else. Anyway, out food arrived at about the hour mark. My wife and I came there for "classic" steak house... playing The Strokes 10 decibels too loud did not add to the ambiance. It might be the PERFECT ambiance for some people but since I'm writing the review... I want classy/mellow tablecloth-and-candles. And I love The Strokes. I went to PSP for the first time last night with a friend and sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. None of this should be shocking to anyone that knows me...lest I digress. Cory and Jesus were behind the bar and were attentive from the moment my jeans hit the barstool. They offered suggestions on cocktails and specials as well as the regular menu. I went with a gin gimlet, my buddy had a classic old fashioned. Very generous pours and nicely proportioned. I had the Vietnamese Shaky Shaky Beef with sticky rice and the plate was hearty when they put it down and empty when I was done. He got a Wagyu Strip with scalloped potatoes. I had a couple of bites of each of them and I was impressed. IYKYK - he's a KC Guy and raved about the quality of the beef. That says a lot. He even took some home (he's 6'3 300lbs) for a breakfast burrito in the morning. Both of us finished up with a quality Smithwick's in an ice cold glass when the owner Kevin stopped by to ask for feedback if we had some. Very nice down to earth guy and we let him know our servers were great, the food was delicious and speaking for myself it will not be my last visit. We had a lovely experience. We went for brunch on Sunday and the service and food were amazing! My favorite is always the classic "eggs Benedict ". But there are many other delicious items to choose from! I definitely will return soon! read more
