I sat with this for a couple of weeks before posting so I could reflect more so here goes. I booked a reservation for drinks before dinner for my sister and best friends birthday a couple of weeks ago. We walk in cool vibes, hostess Corrie greeted and walked us to the table we were warmly greeted by Lawren and she stated that we had another server but she would be helping us until she returned from break which I thought was interesting since it was only 6 and they opened at 5? Either way we have a short timeline since we have to be at dinner by 7:15p everything goes well until the server shows up. I wish Lawren had time to transition because we would've tipped her in cash before she left bc this Ani character was inattentive and gave poor I wouldn't call it service because one would have to do something. She came over briefly to offer an excuse to why she wasn't there, I had to flag down another waitress to get her attention to come back to the table instead she just brought the check and dropped it on the other side of the table before leaving again. My favorite part was around the 20% tip which was audacious and tacky since she did enough to make me question even providing any tip at all. My partner summoned the manager Colby or Cody not sure which but his non-reaction was indicative of this being a regular occurrence. The cocktails weren't good enough to return and even if they were, or the parking confusion was resolved, the service was a big enough deterrent for me to not think twice about considering it. 5 for Lawren but everything else sums up to a 2 experience for me. Do with that what you will.
This place is really cute, with plenty of photo-worthy spots throughout. After a quick ID check at the door, you're in. The night we visited, most of the tables in the main dining room were reserved. That's where you'll find the DJ and one of the bars. There are also two patio spaces with open seating--one outdoors and one covered. The covered patio was my favorite, with another bar, plenty of lounge seating, a fireplace, and great views of downtown. I told the bartender I wanted something cute, and she recommended the Catbird. It was definitely cute, but don't let that fool you--it packed a punch, and I wasn't mad about it. The crowd was lively, the music was good, and the overall vibe was fun but relaxed. It's a great spot to grab a drink and hang out for the evening.
It was alright. We arrived about 7:30 pm on a Friday night. It's on floor 9C. When you exit the elevator, you're in a reception / host station area. ID's are checked, then you're directed down a flower-lined hallway to the bar / restaurant interior. The bummer part for us is that while the place was not yet busy at all, all the open tables were reserved. We looked outside and found no viable places for 2 people to be comfortable. They have a second bar and seating area that was not open tonight and we were allowed to sit in there but we needed to come to the main bar to order and wait for our drinks. Only a minor inconvenience considering we found nice seating in the unopen bar space. The drinks were okay. Cost was $19 to $21 each for what we had. We expected that. We asked the bartender to order us a piece of cheesecake. At first it was a no - "you have to order from a server". But since we weren't seated in a space with any service, the bartender agreed to make it happen. And he did and the cheesecake was good. Over the next 40 minutes or so, the music got louder. Really loud! And the place really started to fill up. I'm thankful I carry Apple AirPods with me as it was the only way I could survive in this loud environment. A lot of people hung out outside on their two outside terrace-like spaces. There was little seating outside but the young folks were content to stand, chat, take pics and such. To me, this is definitely a younger crowd space, but we're glad we went - so now we know.
When mapping out all of the restaurants and bars I'll be trying during my time in Dallas, I knew I had to end it with Catbird. The ambiance here is so comforting and the dj really sets the tone with every track. I was beyond satisfied with every drink and dish I tasted here (get the fried rice)! If you're looking for a night out with friends or a fun dinner date, Catbird is the place to go.
I visited Catbird during one of their R&B themed nights. With this theme, they served ramen and bao buns while a dj played RnB music all night. When my friends I arrived for our reservation our table was not ready. We waited a few minutes and then was sat in a more private area of the restaurant. Aesthetically, the restaurant is very pretty with moody lights and lounge seating, great for grabbing drinks with the girls or a date. The lounge seating was definitely not meant to indulge in a meal. The music was extremely loud. To the point where when we left we all complained of our throats hurting from having to yell at each other just to have a conversation, so that was unfortunate. As for service our waitress seemed ok at first, but it quickly became apparent she had a problem with one of my friends. She was very short with my friend and then tried to give her an espresso martini that was suspiciously bubbly. There were so many bubbles, that the drink continued to fizz and bubble over onto the table for 5 minutes straight. Finally when our waitress returned, I told her to take that drink back because it was obviously spiked. The waitress tried to push us to keep the drink but I insisted we did not want to keep that at our table. As for the food, no one at my table was happy with their order, and we were hesitant to drink after that encounter. Overall, this was a strange night and left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not suggest dining here, or at least be very careful on what you order and who serves you.
When I first walked into Catbird, alarm bells started ringing. This bar has been on my list of Dallas places to go for a while, especially because I heard the views were exceptional. However, upon first entering you are greeted by a flower tunnel that screams "social media bar". Social media bars tend to be great for pictures, but terrible dining experience. As a fatty without any social media, these bars are never enjoyable to me. Catbird, unfortunately, fell into that category. First, service is very slow. I had to go to the bar to order a drink because of the wait at the table. The drinks, however, are tasty. I appreciated the bartenders craftsmanship and it was fun watching him make the cocktails. I ordered the Fuji Lady to start, which I really liked. It comes with burnt rosemary which smells so good. Next I had Locked In, which was tasty as well. However, the drink menu in person is different than online, and they are out of EVERYTHING. My friend tried to order three different tequila based drinks, only to be told different products were out for each one. Food is just okay. We snacked on the Crab Dip and French Fries. Crab dip was had a very heavy lemon taste and was a little too gloopy for my typical taste in dips. The French fries were so basic and sounded so much better the way it was described on the menu. For dessert, I brought in a cake. There is a cake fee, which I expected but isn't posted anywhere on their website. I also brought in candles, which they completely left off the cake and just put in matches???!! I was so upset, but they had switched servers halfway through, and the older server told nothing to the new one (including our drink orders which were never put in). I just think that's terrible service, not even telling the other person about the cake and basically stealing my candles. The only redemption is the validated parking. Overall, do not recommend Catbird, as there are a thousand better "social media bars" around Dallas
I am obsessed with catbird! The interior is always so iconic and gorgeous. We had a lovely booth, that was also nice for people watching--the fashion is incredible. The drinks are so fun and tasty, I love that they change out the menu. Not pictured is the crab Rangoon Dip and some other tasty treat that I can't remember. It was too cold this particular night to go out much on the rooftop area, but it has great views!
Catbird is easily one of the best spots in Dallas if you're looking for a great atmosphere and beautiful aesthetics. The ambiance was absolutely my vibe, stylish, inviting, and the perfect setting for a night out. The drinks were well-made and enjoyable, adding to the overall experience. A good Tuesday night outing. I attended an event there, and although the venue appeared to be a bit understaffed, our waitress, Gabby, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She checked on us regularly, kept us updated, and brought our drinks out as quickly as they were prepared. Her enthusiasm, welcoming personality, and positive energy truly stood out; her energy was a 10/10. Gabby's outstanding service made a great experience even better. I will definitely be back!
Came in for Ramen & Bao x RnB night The DJ was in there going his thing, music was great all night! Unfortunately the service did not match the musical vibes at all. Politely put the service was slow at every turn. It was a mission to get water refilled. My request for a bottled beer, didn't get filled until after the food arrived and flagging down another sever for assistance. One of our burgers had to have been forgotten about because we were practically finished with all the other food before we had to remind our sever that we were still waiting for it. And once we were finally able to track our server down to close out, we asked that she come back ASAP because our Uber was outside waiting, we finally got our bill back to sign 15 minutes later. Which is especially frustrating for an establishment that auto adds gratuity to your bill. Thankfully most of the food was delicious, so the experience wasn't a complete bust. If you're willing to risk the poor service the teriyaki burger and fries were both amazing. And the brisket ramen was also really good. Both the crispy chicken Bao and shrimp po Bao were good, but overpriced IMHO for them to only come with 2pc. As an additional service note: our group found it frustrating that they left the normal food menu on the tables if they were only going to serve from the specialty menu, as there were items in the regular menu that we really wanted, but were told that we couldn't have, because they were only serving from the themed menu.
The environment of Catbird is fab, mood lighting, lounge seating, great views. The service? Terrible, you are limited to an hour and a half--which isn't mentioned anywhere. You won't be able to change tables, mind you some of their chairs are below sea level. The food was good, drink are an interesting asian fusion type, which is alright. Feel like the host had more say on what went on in the dining area, which wasn't accommodating at all. Also idk if I trust valet, saw them speed peoples vehicles in the garage. Maybe come during the week?
I visited Catbird for the second time recently and this time I got food in addition to drinks. Overall the atmosphere keeps me coming back with the nice aesthetic and rooftop views as well. The food is excellent; we ordered the fries, smashburger, bao buns, waffle, and chicken karaage and everything was so delicious. For drinks, the table got a good mix of everything; the white lies (for coconut and gin lovers this one is a classic), matcha made in heaven, and suki says. My faves were both suki says and white lies. Lauren was our server and she was so personable and friendly! She definitely made sure we all had an enjoyable, unforgettable, and warm experience for our girls dinner. It was a pleasure to dine in at Catbird and we will be back soon.

Atmosphere is a vibe. Love the inside/outside flow and the drinks are really good. I would try this place again - I came for an event so I'd love to check this place out on a regular night. read more
Reservations for 4:15. Arrived late, but courtesy called to let them know we would be running a little behind. There is a 15 min grace period before cancellations. Your credit card is out on file on Resy ($15 per person is the fee if there's a no show. Your card is NOT charged, but you have to put your card on file to book) $10 card only valet. Pay when you leave. Floor 9C is where the restaurant is (inside the Thompson hotel. Monarch is over there too) It's cool inside (temperature wise). Our waitress, London, was great. Sit near the windowwww Ordered the Crab Rangoon dip ($$20) - the bell pepper jam on this appetizer made it taste "different" I would re order though, maybe less or this jam. And lamb chops ($23) 4 of them on a small bed of spinach. They were good, but you may still be hungry after. The lemon drop had smoked rosemary. OMG, I liked this drink. The rosemary did it for me. ($17). The place is empty around the time we went. More people came around the time we were leaving. I would return. read more
Catbird gets 5 stars from me! One of my weekend goals was to check this place about and I did! And I wasn't disappointed As soon as you get off the elevator and walk into Catbird, you are immediately greeted with their beautiful decor. The lovely floral touches really had me hooked (fun fact: I love anything floral). We were a little early for our resy, so you know I had to do a mini photoshoot. Once we were seated, our waitress ran down the drink and food menu to us. It wasn't crowded at all. We got there right when they opened and it looked like there was a private party going on. But our table wasn't in the mix of the party and we had a cute little spot next to the window. I was a little sad the weather started acting crazy, I really wanted to check out the patio It was all good though because the food made me stay right in my seat Y'all, the lamb chops and lobster would have to be my two favorite dishes!!! My only complaint is the small portions. The food is suppose to be "shareable" but you may have to get two orders of each to make it enough. First time visiting Catbird. The vibe wasn't for me. It's a be seen spot. Didn't care for the loud music and dancing. Catbird is a lounge not a restaurant. The atmosphere is more situated for cocktails and small plates than a proper meal. In spite of that every dish was fantastic. The drink selection was top notch as well. The loud music may be off putting for a more intimate dinner. The service was sub-par. It seriously is a place where you just go for the drinks because the food menu is very small. Not sure it's worth all the hype on social media though. It's alright. read more
Visited for a birthday dinner and it was ok. The host sat us in an area that wasn't suited for eating. The table was too low. We had to hold the plates in order to eat This is the place that you stop by for a drink only. No split checks Valet is now $10 Customer service is just ok The food was brought one item at a time as well as the drinks. My first time here was for a Galentines dinner, and it was quite fitting! The entryway decor for the month of February was pink pampas. A very instagrammable moment. Upon entering, we were offered free cocktails with garnishes. You just can't go wrong starting off the night with free drinks! A few of us arrived earlier than others, of course, so we had to wait for our table until then. It was a Tuesday night, which meant it was Jazz night (live jazz musicians performing in the restaurant)! What a special treat, on top of the free cocktail. It really elevated this special night with my girls. Their menu is meant to be shared, family-style, if you will. Their cocktails each have a "catbird" option as well, adding a unique spin to traditional cocktails, including the infamous espresso martini. I had both the Catbird cocktail and the espresso martini - I would recommend both! Unfortunately, we stayed until closing so we did not have the chance to check out the outdoor patio which I have seen all over instagram with the incredible flooring and view. Another Instagram worthy place, that is super cool looking. All about the vibes. But food was mediocre and expensive. They charge for water and for refills. welcome to 2023. We ordered and was so excited about the chicken. We were told that they didn't have that anymore. Not when we were seated but when we ordered. So we had to quickly find something else. The menu is very small. Everything had a tang and spice to it. The ribs has so much fat we barely could eat. So definitely recommend if you want a cocktail and a gram worthy place. read more

CatBird is the most happening place in Dallas Downtown. If you are looking for a bar with great ambiance, good food, and best cocktails, with DJ, this is the place for you. I visited a catbird with my friends and enjoyed our evening. We ordered cocktails and lamb chops and both were fantastic. Catbird is located at Thompson Hotel on the 9th floor, and the view is heart taking. If you want to enjoy DJ with your friends, inside sitting is for you, and if you want to stay quiet with the best view, I suggest go with alfresco sitting. Service and ambiance are so good. read more

I had a fun time here! My friend made reservations for us at 8:30 pm. We got there early and was able to be seated right away! Catbird is located at the top of the Thompson Hotel. I ordered the classic Paloma - I wasn't much of a fan. Our server was super nice and brought me a Catbird Collins instead - which I enjoyed much more! The vibes here are everything!! I had the pleasure of going on a Monday during their social hour. The hostess was very warm and welcoming. The ambiance was so pleasing .The bartender, I believe was Jason he was very attentive, and made me two tequila cocktails that were very tasty. Everyone was very hands on . I was even able to small talk with manager Martanique regarding recommendations and events -he was very personable .Overall I give it 5 stars I'm a sucker for great customer service and by far I received it hands down! read more

I chose this restaurant based on the reviews and photos of the menu as my birthday venue. I went lastnight with a group of friends and was disappointed to say the least. Our server was Savannah, she was great, she explained that the menu changes every 3-4 months due to the season (understandably) I was disappointed because I loved the menu selection I had seen on yelp, and to not have that was a let down. I had another venue that I would have chose otherwise, based on the food. I ordered the Duck carnitas tacos, they came out on a hot plate, but the tacos were cold. One bite and a huge bone was in my taco. I had them sent back, and asked them to be made fresh and hot. Again the let down when they came back cold as if they were sitting out for a while. There was such high volume I don't think the kitchen could keep up. The manager came to apologize, she was so kind, offered to take care of us if we came back, unfortunately this first impression was less than satisfactory, and we will not be returning. They also ran out of the Yuzu Making me Blush drink by 8:30pm, I had one which was incredible, but alas, the night was early and they ran out. read more
Came here on Friday for a birthday get together as our second stop of the night. We probably should have started here as it's a nice vibe to dress up and do some people-watching but the menu was pretty limited and the drinks weren't memorable. Best bite were the fries due to the truffle ketchup, honorable mention goes to the oysters as well. Unfortunately, we were seated near outside right after a thunderstorm so it was also uncomfortable humid/muggy, but the view was nice! Service was friendly, but not very attentive. We asked for extra ketchup for our fries and it came out around the same time as the bill, long after the fries were gone. Also, I came early with a cake for the birthday girl and staff brought out the wrong cake. A member of another party came over and said it was their cake, everyone was a good sport about it but..yikes. After that embarrassment we asked for our cake back in the box so we could take it home. I came to Catbird off of a recommendation from an IG friend who lives in Dallas. I highly recommend this place and reservations are a must. The moment you step off the elevator to enter the restaurant staff is very attentive. The ambience is perfect. Perfect crowd. I The first night we went we did not have reservations and we were not able to get a table. We immediately went online and made reservations for the next night. The food was amazing. The prices were not bad. The drinks were beautiful and delicious. I 10/10 recommend. read more

Don't let "small plates" scare you away from checking this place out - SO GOOD! Everything on the menu that we tasted was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. There is indoor dining and a patio, both setups are gorgeous and spacious! My boyfriend made us an early reservation here during Valentine's weekend. We had a 4PM reservation on a Friday, and I kind of liked that it wasn't filled with people yet. It was so nice! We sat inside next to the fireplace. There was social distancing and masks were required. We started out with cocktails. I loved that they had a classic side and a Catbird (their own spin on a classic drink) side. We ordered drinks from the Catbird side - my favorite was the Paloma! So good! For food - our server did such a great job with recommendations. I'm so glad she recommended the Miso Salmon - AMAZING. We had Pork Belly, Lamb Chops, Texas Beef Bao Bun, Miso Salmon, and Pan Seared Filet. Now again, order it all, but my favorites had to be the Pan Seared Filet and the Texas Beef Bao Bun. We ended up ordering another round of the Bao Buns because we loved them so much. The only thing I would change about the menu - better desserts. An assortments of sweets didn't scream at me. After eating all the small plates - I really wanted a chocolate cake, brownie, something yummy with a "catbird" twist. Will be back - Catbird is great! read more
If you're looking for a super sexy vibe for a date or girl's night out...this is it! I had no idea this place existed! It's situated on the 9th floor of The Thompson downtown on the rooftop. As soon as you step off or the elevator you're greeting with a lux picture that literally sets the mood! The floors are gorgeous and the hostesses are super nice. My friend and I met at 4 pm (reservations highly suggested) and requested a view so they sat us on the patio. As I was walking to our area, I realized we could have sat inside. The decor and lighting made it for a sexy and cool vibe! The outside patio is all weather, which is great! So if there's inclement weather, you could still sit out. It was a little toasty considering the time we went, but once I sat down, had a glass of water and an employee opened the door to the rooftop, it felt much better. The rooftop area was very breezy so we were able to cool off. The food is served tapa style. So small portions but they were great. My friend and I each ordered things that we'd both enjoyed so that made for great variety. The food came out 'as prepared' but it was no issue because once they sat one dish down we were literally getting our others. The drinks...phenomenal and refreshing. Service was excellent and the employees are very well educated on their menu/drink choices (which was great for a first timer). Decor...chic, sexy, inviting and gorgeous views or downtown. The rooftop made for amazing photo ops (which a lot of patrons took advantage). Even the bathroom was super cute! We legit did not want to leave. Our reservation was at 4 pm and by 7 pm the hostess advised that our reservation was good for another 30 minutes. But by that time we were wrapping up. But that's something good to know especially if you're going for a birthday or special occasion. I realllllyyyy enjoyed myself. I went on a Saturday afternoon and was home by 8. I'd really love to experience it on another night. But again, if you're debating on whether or not to go, please do yourself a favor and try it out. read more
Came here during Valentines weekend and this place does not disappoint! As you walk into the bar/restaurant on the 9th floor you're greeted by a corridor of floral arrangements into a room full of good smells and vibes. Each drink on the menu has a classic the version you know or love, or you can take on the Catbird version for something new and exciting! When it comes to shared plates, we tried the miso salmon, oysters, and the giant prawn skewers! All we're delicious but personally would say the miso salmon took the cake as it was such a great mix of flavors graciously placed atop a fresh leaf of lettuce! Highly recommend coming here if you're in the area, and make sure and try the pink baked Alaska while it's available! read more

Good for the rooftop views and vibes, they decorated for Christmas and right now Valentine's Day. But I don't really get reservations because we waited over an hour for our table when we arrived so that was hella annoying Pork chops and brussel sprouts were great, drinks were refreshing. Do not get the charcuterie board, it was underwhelming for $20. See photo. Lots of seating, booths, tables, couches, and outdoor seating. Bathroom was super cute for photos. I work downtown Dallas and never knew about Catbird until recently. Catbird was recommended to me and was pleasantly surprised. This is a great date night location for a drink or two. I haven't tried the food yet but the ambiance was spectacular. The service at the bar is attentive. read more

This fancy bar/dining spot is fun and happening all at once. I have to say the security guard who helped us find the elevators in the hotel lobby was hilarious! He knew we took the wrong left! He actually found us and steered us to the "other" elevator bay! Give that guy a raise! One thing I have to say about this unique inside/outside spot: It is so welcoming! From the efficient bartenders to the waitresses everyone was so nice! No stuck up people were to be found. Very encouraging and made for a lovely time. There is an outdoor rooftop that is accessed by glass doors. They would grab the door for you!! Nice touch! The drink menu is fun and not overpriced. There were people dressed to the nines and then people who had probably been site seeing and came for a fun drink. Fun, welcoming, gorgeous venue and we will be back! read more

The host and hostess were not friendly greeters. Our friend and walked in to the restaurant area to look at the Christmas decor while the rest of us checked in and then the hostess made her walk all the way back to the foyer so our "party was complete" and THEN walk back to exactly where she was. After we were seated, we waited 15 minutes before approaching the host stand to let them know we had not been greeted or offered water, etc. She said there was a "communication issue". Once solved, our waitress was great. However, such a snooty place serving $20 drinks should definitely be more welcoming and offer a more enjoyable experience. Especially when you're pushing the holiday decor and vibes. read more
So cute! Various places to sit and enjoy! - parking is valet only, downtown so no street parking nearby that's easy so be prepared to pay and tip - location is cool because the views from the balcony area are outstanding. Take elevator up from valet and building entrance - ambience is chill low lighting indoor with a very beautiful bar architecture and decor. Patio area is bright and balcony area is like sitting in the midst of cool downtown buildings and skyline lighting - food and drinks I didn't eat but had some nice wine from the bar which is a FULl bar - music was down south rap kind of good on Sat night - great for parties or groups of 4+ read more

Came here for a girls night out. The rooftop was amazing and we were definitely there for the view! The customer service was outstanding, particularly from Savannah! She was detailed when asked about the menu and recommended yummy drinks to us! She went above and beyond and we had a great time! I was very impressed! read more

Vibes are excellent. Dark and cozy with both couches and tables. Tapas style offerings with a middle eastern twist. The lamb lollipops were amazing, served with falafel. Crispy cauliflower was also delicious. I would bathe in the sabayon sauce on their bread & butter plate. Decent wine menu and very friendly service. Definitely stop by. We came just got drinks to celebrate a bach and the bartender was so nice and paid for our drinks! Very gorgeous rooftop with a lot of space and the ambiance is there. The food looked delicious, wish I had time to try it! read more

Not a place for bachelorette party as advertised. Not a friendly atmosphere and possibly racially related . They accused the party of being drunk - they were not. Two glasses were broken due to them 1. Being cheap and 2. So much crap on the tiniest table for 10 people I've ever seen. The server had attitude when told that the espresso martini was separating in the glass , curdled and wasn't very good. We were asked to leave . No one was loud or obnoxious or causing a scene. I was shocked when I came out of the restroom to hear this. No thanks pearl clutching Catbird. Take your business elsewhere. An 1100 dollar bill for subpar food and service. Catbird is an upscale cocktail and tapas bar with the matching price so be prepared to spend money. We mainly came for the esthetics and Catbird did not disappoint. Lovely location with ig worthy decor. My favorite was the flower entry way. Soooo pretty! I believe the decor is seasonal so come quickly before they change out the flowers. The patio views are amazing. We were there on a Saturday from 4-7:30pm and it was too crowded. The service also matched the price point as well. Our waitress was super nice and she graciously took pictures of us. Tapas bars can be difficult for greedy people like me. There were 5 of us. They got full but I didn't :( What we ordered; - waygu beef (delicious), - the lamb chops on a savory bed of cooked spinach (super delicious), - the fries(nice & crispy), - the brussel sprouts (tasted burnt but still edible) - crab rangoon dip (yummy...love the chips that came with it but I wish it came with more bc a lot of the dip got wasted( - chicken katsu sandwich (not really shareable so I didn't get to try it) I enjoyed my mojito mocktail and my friends enjoyed their drinks. Are infants allowed and if so, do they have high chairs?
Even if allowed (which seems unlikely), Catbird is most definitely not a place where you're going to want to take an infant. The music is deafening and the environment would be a very uncomfortable one for your child.
