This was a new find on our annual visit to Hilton head. Daisy was the greatest with welcoming smile and helping us way beyond our expectations. Husband in wheelchair and came out into parking lot to help us. The service and food were great from appetizers to dessert. We chose 3 appetizers calamari, crab cake and sausage pepper polenta - all were delicious. Our party of 4 had different main courses and no one had a dish they didn't like. The pork chop comes highly recommended. All and all a great time. We will be back next year. read more

We have stayed on HHI many times and have eaten at numerous restaurants. On the recommendation of a friend, we tried Catch 22 for the first time last Tuesday evening. It was the best food we have EVER eaten on the island ! Six adults in our party and everyone loved their dish. The food is amazing and Derek our server was excellent. Food was good but undermined by bad service. Our waiter completely disappeared toward the end of our meal. To get the check we waited, and waited, and waited. After a 15 minute wait he showed up and said he had to "reset" the credit machine. All this time he was MIA, nowhere to be found. Waiting fervently by the machine no doubt. We won't be back. Food not good enough to overcome what appeared to be deliberately bad service. Maybe we just got stuck with a jerk. Or...Perhaps this is why the place was not even half full on a Saturday night. Terrible! Everything I had, from appetizer to special entree was over cooked! Second time in 5 years - decided to give it a second chance (dining room was empty, now I know why). Disappointing meal. We had high hopes based on a personal recommendation and the online reviews. Nine of us went to dinner on a Monday night in July. The restaurant was three quarters full. Drinks were good. Appetizers were terrific... We ordered five. The eggplant pizza and tuna appetizer were particularly good. The meals were tough. I got the cracked pepper tuna. It was not sushi grade as advertised. It was also over cooked. The meal was bland. Several people ordered the mixed grill special - a mix of lobster, steak and duck. The waitress came back to say that they would need to replace the lobster with snow crab. There was no reduction in price. The special was too saucy, too salty and over cooked. Others who ordered the scallops said that they were over cooked as well. I would not recommend Catch-22. read more

Great food and a nice, quaint location. It is locally owned by 2 couples who are very accommodating! I loved the martini menu. We had a party of 6 and all if us cleaned our plates! I appreciate the use of local ingredients. Even with all of the options on the island for restaurants, we will definitely be returning to Catch 22! read more

My husband and I decided to try the restaurant for the first time since we have been residents here. We also love to cook, and when we do go out to eat, we appreciate a nice place and pretty atmosphere and good service, but of course most of all, good food. We were not disappointed. We sat at the bar with bartender Kelly and she did a great job of serving drinks, explaining new offerings on their new menu and providing prompt and friendly service. Not sure why this place was empty. Food was amazing - beefsteak tomato salad, diver scallop appetizer, specials, drinks. The atmosphere was relaxing and our waiter, Derek, made our visit even more pleasant. My only regret is that we waited until our vacation was almost over. The food was average. They had a unique menu for a seafood restaurant - less seafood than other items. The restaurant was very hot - 85-83 degrees (we only know this as we were sitting by the thermostat). We ordered a bottle of wine and the waitress couldn't figure out if they actually had it. She was not very knowledgeable about wine and came back to the table several times to figure out what we ordered. This would not be a top choice for a restaurant in this area. read more

Fantastic service - we have been coming to HHI for 7 of the past 9 years and go out to eat often- and this place ranks right up there. Definitely recommend the bone-in filet and the almond crusted tilapia. Wine selection is strong, yet not so much that it takes 2-1/2 hours just to get through the list. read more

Mediocre at best! Prices are high for quality of food, filet was lacking in seasoning and flavor. Restaurant atmosphere was loud with Christmas party poorly seated and our 3/8 plywood table was a little wobble to say the least! One of our party ordered a lobster tail and when it arrived, had a nice, big, fat, black ant cooked on top of it...we were mortified. We received a mere "oh so sorry, I haven't seen that in 15 yrs!" 15 mins later another one was brought - by this time we had almost finished our meals. No comp, no visit from the manager or owner - in fact it was stated to us that the owner was also the chef...maybe he was too embarrassed. I fear it may be the "tourist syndrome" - perhaps had it been a local it may have been different. To make matters worse, the lobster was little and tough. Shocked there was barely an acknowledgment that a BUG was cooked in the food. If finding a bug in your food isn't worthy of a comp, I don't know what is. Will never go back to this place. I wonder about their pest control - wish we'd taken a picture! read more

loved the fun atmosphere here. although not on the water like a seafood restaurant should be but the majority on the island are not anyway. their shrimp and lobster stuffed portabella appetizer was delicious and both the almond crusted tilapia and seafood pasta had tons of flavor. where they really excelled was with the sweet potato cake and desserts. the key lime pie was top notch but the highlight of the night was the peanut butter sushi. not sushi at all as you may expect but it was the shape that made it seem that way. it was basically whipped peanut butter covered in oreo crumbs then sliced thinly on the plate. quite the idea and absolutely fantastic. read more

What an amazing & surprising find! While on a recent "Girls Trip" to HHI, we wanted to get some great seafood. Our hotel recommended Skull Creek Boat House but when we told our cab driver (shout out to Craig!) where we wanted to go he, very nicely, steered us to Catch 22 instead. We we're a little worried when we pulled into what looked like an office complex but gave it a shot anyway. It was Saturday night & the place was empty. They were running a special where you could get a half price bottle of wine when you eat at the bar. We were in. We ordered two bottles after getting great recommendations from our wonderful bartender, Janelle. There were four of us and we wanted to try a little of everything so we coupled up to share. We had two of the appetizer samplers & picked raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller, crab cake, hush puppies, ravioli and the shrimp & crab stuffed portobello. While everything was delicious, the standouts were the ravioli & the portobello mushroom. Amazing! For our entrees we ordered the seared scallops with more of those delicious ravioli & sautéed spinach and the stuffed lobster tail. The lobster was a little overlooked but the scallops & ravioli made us want to lick our plates. We were in food heaven. Everyone at Catch 22 made us feel like one of the family. Daisy, Janelle & "Coach" were awesome & had us laughing all night. I'd recommend Catch 22 to anyone looking for delicious food & a great dining experience. read more

I really wanted to post a better review but I just couldn't. As first time diners, we read the reviews and were very much looking forward to our meal. The space was lovely and welcoming as was our server, Megan. There were a few issues in the beginning (delay in finding the wine we ordered, several requests for ice) but then things settled nicely. Our appetizers were nice , the hush puppies really were good, and a special cheeseboard with a nice selection. (We wanted the brussel sprouts but they were out of them) But then the entrees came out. They were delivered by servers with rubber oven mitts indicating the plates were hot. Only one of the dishes was actually hot. A special mixed grill had a lovely piece of filet, a lobster tail and a piece of duck. The lobster tail had some unknown sweet sauce on it and was overcooked. The crispy duck was nowhere near crispy. It had a dry rub which make it look like way but the fat was not rendered and it was dry and overcooked. Each bite had an unappetizing glob of fat. For the scallop dish, they were fresh and well prepared but were covered in a "sherry cream sauce" which had no taste of sherry, just a bland white sauce which took away from what should have been a simple fresh dish and made it look unappetizing. The fish of the day, cobia, was grilled and would have tasted better had they not cooked the heck out of it. It was dry and hard. I told our server about the duck when she took the plates away. She said she would let the kitchen know but there was no mention of it even though we lingered at the table for a time finishing our wine. I thought maybe someone would acknowledge it? I am thinking maybe it was an off night especially after reading other reviews but I hope the owners take note and quality control the kitchen a bit better. read more

Our family has been coming to this restaurant for many years and the quality, creativity and service have always been first rate. Tonight was no exception, and our server Derrick was most helpful. The 3 onion pork chop was excellent-very tender and a lovely sauce, although the cheese grits that accompanied it were so good as to be distracting from the pork chop. Food was good. The special flounder was delicious. Cod dish could use a little more flavor. It's a very pleasant atmosphere. The service on this particular evening was slow and a little off. Looked like there was just one server and he had his hands full. Very slow in coming to take our order. Didn't get a refill on bread which he offered twice. Water glasses went empty. Went on a Sunday night for the early bird dinner (4 adults and a 3 year old). I thought the service was outstanding, our waitress was great. The house wine (had zinfandel) surprisingly good, as part of the early bird special, also had the mixed greens salad (very good) and beef tips as my entree - also very tasty and presentation was very nice. We were welcomed by Daisy who was very friendly and sat in a corner table next to the aquarium whch kept us amused. We ordered the crspy duck and steak tips, both wellprepared and cooked to order. Harold our waiter was also friendly and efficient and was clear on the waiting time for our meals as well as responding to a request for infromation on the resident artist's contact information.The side dishes were also prepared well-simple , and fresh. For dessert we shared the triple chocolate cake which was like eating a box of truffles. All told, a very pleasant meal that was served in a friendly atmosphere and I would definitely want to go back! read more

We knew we needed a reservation since we just showed up last year and they were booked. This time, with a reservation, our table was ready. Background music was very good and at the right volume - choice 60s oldies. Jayce ( my spelling) was our waiter and did a very good job for us. The food was excellent. We noted our disappointment in the bread, though. It was not up to the standard of the rest of the experience, being slightly burned and tasted like Melba toast. The owner is on a first name basis with what seemed like all of the customers, including myself. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home.
