    Beef Tips Au Poivre
    Olivia Y.

We made a last minute reservation to eat at 5:30. They were gracious about us having a toddler with us (high chair available) and were extremely accommodating, with our sever Derrick even procuring some orange slices from the bar after our toddler got fixated on the lemon slices in the water... If you dine in before 6, they have some early bird specials that include salad plus the entree which are a great deal! My spouse got the beef tips au poivre and I had the sheepshead fish special which was delicious. I also had their crab chowder and my only complaint was that there were too many potatoes. Their bread and whipped butter were delicious and we may have gone through 2 baskets. It's a beautifully decorated moody restaurant and one we would rather not bring our toddler to if possible!

My husband and I were just turned away from this establishment, as the owners made it abundantly clear that our presence as people of color was HIGHLY unwelcome. There were SEVERAL people welcomed inside after us, who were dressed either similarly or FAR more shabbily than us, and being that this is a BEACH TOWN and there were no notifications regarding dress code on the website, we thought nothing of it. To be clear... this experience was disgusting, embarrassing, and he have NO intentions on simply "letting this go". Out of respect for our intelligence, though, we would request that owners forgo any half hearted apologies, explanations, expressions of welcoming environments of inclusivity, decrying of discriminatory practices, or announcements of proximity to people/organizations of cultural importance, as consistency in your messaging will ensure your patronage isn't sullied by any more unsavory characters.

This restaurant is best selection near Hilton Head. Good chef skills, Romantic dinning, Early bird special can be found here. I would said go to their website search for their early dinning specials. The table decorated with crush seashells glass table top. We were serve with compliments bread and main dish accompanied Cesar salad. My dish is the Pan Seared Scallops and Ravioli. This dish come with sautéed onions, spinach and shiitake mushrooms. It also comes with spinach ravioli. The dish top with prosciutto creamy sauce. My wife dish is the Carolina Trout. The trout is dusted in cornmeal deep fried. My wife cannot take the onion and the exchange with grilled Brussels sprouts. It also serve with garlic potatoes and top with red pepper aioli. Food is perfect, service is good. Definitely recommend. I would said 4.5 stars.

Definitely check out Catch 22 if you're in Hilton Head! It has an elegant, old school vibe. Sit at the bar. Bartender Derek is a doll and has been there 20+ years. He's eaten everything on the menu except the tuna. He's full of stories and suggestions! We started with the crab and shrimp hush puppies with whipped butter and key lime sauce. These bad boys will make you hurt somebody! So decadent. I'm searching for the words. Just get them. They're unlike anything you've had. So satisfying and meaty with a hint of sweetness. We only got half an order, which was a good thing because the entrees would have stood no chance of being eaten. But ate them we did... The 8 oz. salmon filet was perfectly baked and served over an interesting five-grain salad which hit many notes from savory to tangy. It's topped with an apricot Sriracha glaze, which rounded out the flavors to include sweet with a little spice, and the lemon aioli drizzle added the needed citrus bite. The chef seems to really pay attention to detail and is so creative! He took the time to grill the half lemon served with my companion's dish which unfortunately I can't recall the name of. I do know it was a daily special. My companion was also allowed to change his vegetable to sautéed spinach, and the plating was beautiful. Finally, Y'ALL....the salted caramel pretzel brownie--the chef was clownin' with this one! It was pure sin. The brownie was so rich under the mound of fresh, creamy vanilla ice cream. It was a perfect bite with the saltiness from the pretzel crust in the bottom and the salted caramel drizzle. One bite and my companion and I just looked at each other speechless at how incredible this dessert was. Do yourselves a favor and try this place. A local musician we met at another bar recommended it to us. So glad we listened to him.

We went to Catch 22 for the first time last night. We enjoyed the food and the ambiance was good. Our server was attentive and helpful. So, we would definitely go back. We started with the Daufuskie Hushpuppies, which are stuffed with shrimp & crab. They were good with butter or the dipping sauce, which was slightly sweet and had a subtle citrus flavor. We would order these again. Hubs had the onion soup and I tasted it. It a different take on traditional French Onion Soup. Their version uses a chicken broth instead of beef (good for me since I don't eat beef). It included yellow & green onions as well as leeks & shallots. And was topped with swiss cheese & croutons. We both thought it was delicious! For our entree hubs and I both ordered the Cracked Pepper Tuna. It was shashimi grade tuna that was served rare & came with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinich. It was very good although hubs was not a fan of the spinach, lol. We went on a weekday night before peak tourist season and they weren't too busy. But I imagine on weekends & peak season it gets much more crowded.

The service was fantastic! Derek was a terrific server and really rounded out the experience. The food was tasty and everyone in our large group enjoyed what they order, some of which included the brussell sprouts, onion soup, scallops and ravioli, beet salad, prime rib, daily catch, etc. We'll definitely be back!

Highlights of this restaurant: best hush puppies on the island served with Keylime aïoli followed by the beef tips and the scallop potato side. Also notable is great old fashions and the service is wonderful. Each server knows what all of the dishes are made up of. Most knowledgeable servers I have met regarding the dishes they are serving. The favorites of our group that I tried was the beef tips with crispy potatoes and horseradish cream sauce. French onion soup was good too. A different flavor than I've had before. Not so favorite was the pasta dishes. Extremely bland, with very little sauce. While the title says creamy it is anything but creamy. I would highly recommend avoiding ordering a pasta or a Italian dish here. Stick to what they are best at: meat entrees.

    Is there a dress code?

Island casual. I would not go for dinner in tank tops etc but definitely shorts and a nice top are ok. Just be aware that with air conditioning it can get a bit cool for some people.

I was able to make a reservation through Yelp, and although our reservation was pretty late at 8 PM, we walked in and luckily grabbed seats at the bar instead. That ended up being the best part of the night. Both bartenders were absolutely amazing. One was incredibly knowledgeable about wine, while the other knew everything about spirits, so we ended up getting a mini education on all kinds of drinks and even did a little tasting. It made the whole experience so much fun and interactive. We eventually settled on a bottle of red wine and shared a filet mignon. I highly recommend ordering the potatoes because whoever prepares them is seriously talented. They were thinly sliced and stacked into this beautiful cake-like structure that completely melted in your mouth. Between chatting with the bartenders and the people sitting next to us, we ended up staying much longer than planned simply because we were enjoying ourselves so much. I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. It's more than just dinner -- it's an experience, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Some of the cuts were a little overdone but most of it was delicious and well prepared. The restaurant is simple but nice with tables for both intimate parties and large ones. My only qualm is that there was no menu anywhere. They had an extensive wine list that had a small selection of cocktails and beer, but nowhere did they have information about pricing or optional add ons like dessert. Not even on the website. While we weren't worried about the cost, there wasn't even a list of options available if we had wanted something besides what was coming to the table automatically and the salad bar. They also kind of swarmed us as soon as we sat down, offering bottled water and bar drinks and all kinds of extra stuff we didn't even know anything about, which I would've appreciated just a moment to settle down. But overall I would go again.

We had lamb that was cooked perfectly - best part of the meal for me. We had filet, also delicious, we had sausage, we had picanha, which is steak with a crackling layer of fat - really everything was great. They also have a salad bar (yay salad bar!) and a long table of hot side dishes, like black beans, rice, mac and cheese, lots of options. I had the black beans, some rice, and the Brazilian greens, and honestly I could've just eaten that :) the greens were delicious. Also the salad bar options were fresh and nice to have to counterbalance all the meat :) Our server recommended the least expensive Malbec on the wine list and told us the owner said it was the best one on the menu (!). Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. Rare 5 star from us.

I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.
