We had a very nice dinner here tonight! This restaurant is a bit hidden in a shopping center, but it is well worth finding. They have a creative drink list and a varied menu that is not only seafood options. Both my husband and I really enjoyed our meal. The hush puppy appetizer was quite tasty. We Went there during Restaurant week. Really wasn't all that busy. Our server was very personal and friendly. So we placed a drink order along w our appetizer, and our appetizer came out almost a half hour before our can of beer and glass of wine. While waiting for our drinks we watched a booth next to us get up and leave because they never received their drinks. We did watch the bartender/ owner chat it up w the bar patrons, while ignoring the service bar. With 20 years of bartending under my belt,I'm aware to make money you put the bar patrons ahead of the rest of the customers. But on a Saturday night it's unexceptable. I finally mentioned to our server we were about to leave. Note; we arrived at 7:30. Got our drinks at 8:20. It wasn't that busy. Now it was a pretty fix menu. It only took a hour a 15 minutes to get our entrees. The food was actually very good. We made sure that our dessert was ordered when our food finally arrived. Our server gets an A. He was great, very friendly , knew the menu we'll and made wine recommendations . Food was a solid B. I can't say I'd go again just based on this experience. read more

I'm not a huge seafood person, so this restaurant was a nice place to go to get both seafood and meat based options as well. It was relatively easy to get a reservation here on a Saturday night surprisingly and service was really great. I ordered the short rib and it came with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. The short rib was literally falling off the bone, it was so tender and the perfect amount. Apparently the short rib is placed in a longterm brine, so the flavor was delicious and the potatoes made for a great classic side dish. I wasn't expecting to like the Cole slaw as much as I did, but after finishing, I wish I had more. It was a great palate cleanser and a good size veggie to have. I was in town for a wedding and came here for dinner while visiting the area. The meals are pricy but very good. The restaurant was quiet, our service was attentive, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Now onto the food. I had the Crispy Roasted Half Duck. It may be the best duck I have ever had. I am picky with food and was hesitant to order the duck because I have had lots of dry duck in my life. This duck was perfectly crispy and juicy. It was accompanied by potatoes au gratin and green beans. The potatoes were amazing and I enjoyed every bite. I've spent the week in Hilton Head and this was the best meal I had the entire time! We started with fried Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer which were very delicious. The bread was warm out of the oven, the Lobster was a good portion and I had the Chocolate Ganache cake with ice cream and I enjoyed it all. Catch 22 was such a treat for us on our annual Hilton Head trip. We were specifically looking for a less touristy restaurant and we were SO happy to find this gem of a place! We had a later than usual reservation @ 7:45 and missed out on the shrimp and lobster stuffed portabella mushroom appetizer. As disappointed as I was, our second choice, the blue crab Rangoon was still delicious. I asked our server for suggestion and went with my gut and one of his suggestions - pan seared scallops with mushroom and goat cheese ravioli (one of my favorites!!). The raviolis are made in house and were so delicate and light. My boyfriend had the seafood sampler and enjoyed every bit of it - it was cooked and seasoned to perfection! I highly recommend this place for the food, but the service and wait time for the food was extremely slow. We were past the dinner "rush" but it look over 30 minutes for our appetizer. We just had a delightful dinner at catch-22. Our waiter Derrick was knowledgeable and attentive. We started with thehush puppy appetizer it was fresh and light. The key lime tarter sauce went perfectly with the light and crispy puppies. I had the ravioli and scallops,they were perfect, the ravioli are home made and were filled with spinach. The scallops were seared and sweet. My wife had the tile fish with wild rice that was delicious. I only wish I could have had desert. That will have to wait for our next trip to HHI. I was disappointed with the decor - we sat in the area just above the bar. It was finished plywood ( not what I would consider upscale dining ) I also thought the place smelled of mildew. I kept it to myself and then another in our party brought it up. The restaurant is dark - too dark. Michael was our waiter. He did a good job. Three of us had the tuna. Good size portions. Just average taste. The risotto as good and I liked the spinach. Good solid drinks. As we left we had to pass a pretty sketchy crew at the bar. Overall good food - not fine dining. We saw this was one of the top steak places in the area so we decided to check it out. PROS: -ribeye was cooked to perfection, green beans were deliciously salted and had such a good amount of garlic, fried brussel sprouts were delicious, and the seafood chowder was BOMB. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating as well! CONS: -risotto was crunchy initially - they replaced it right away (still a bit crunchy but not as bad as before), and it might be a local thing but the water had an "interesting" taste to it. Also, this place isn't really suited for young children (toddler age). Young adults, sure (as per their kids menu said) but if you have younger children, their seating and menu don't cater too much to that age group. The bread was the only thing that was great. Other than that, the filet was over cooked (should have been medium but it was more like medium well to well), the salmon was crispy on the outside and slightly over cooked. The five grain salad wasn't a great choice as a pairing with the salad. I would have much preferred broccoli or asparagus. Caesar salad had a good flavor but there was way too much dressing. I couldn't finish because it was too strong. We made a reservation for outdoor dining. Having never been here it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the sun would be beating down on us the entire time as we sat outside and watched the parking lot. I expected a nice patio. It was just tables on the sidewalk. The curtains hung to keep the sun off didn't help at all. After a long term we decided to go back to Catch 22. Happy we did. We ate in the back room where our server Alena took great care of us. Very pleasant person checking in with us without bothering us. Area was quiet. The menu offers many nice choices but has not changed much overs the years. However the specials menu made up for the unchanged long term menu. The specials menu is outstanding with a nice number of great choices. The wine menu was appreciated! Started with 5 onion soup--the best around. Wife had an outstanding trout dinner with 2 fillets. It did have a sweet balsamic sauce with a no-no "sugar". The shrimp cocktail showed up with 7 small shrimp that had not been peeled. The fried seafood plate featured shrimp and trout. It was pricey. The beef tips Au Poivre showed up without the requested green beans, and without an hint of Poivre. Service was average but prices were high. That is not a winning combo. read more

Wow! This culinary experience was out of this WORLD. My wife and I are in Hilton Head celebrating our first anniversary and decided we wanted some seafood. Catch 22 did not disappoint and as a matter of fact far exceeded our expectations. The staff was warm and friendly (all wore masks), the aesthetic was warm and inviting, the music was off the charts. However, the main event was the food. Our favorite was the Seafood Portabello (there are no words). Every dish was cooked and seasoned very well and the Manhattan was great as well.
