This new all-you-can-eat sushi spot is seriously delicious! For only $19.95 for late-night AYCE after 9 PM, it's hard to beat. You order everything on an iPad, which makes it really easy to try a bunch of different things. You can order up to 15 items at a time, and there's a 7-minute wait between orders. One thing to keep in mind is that 2 pieces of nigiri count as one item. The fish-to-rice ratio was perfect, and everything we tried tasted fresh/cooked to order. The charcoal skewers were also excellent and definitely worth ordering. The wait staff was super attentive and friendly and the restaurant was very clean. It was pretty empty when we went but that's understandable since they just opened and it was a Wednesday night. Hopefully they get the word out because this place deserves some attention! My favorites were the Cajun albacore, pepper tuna, black garlic ramen, and garlic Parmesan beef skewer. Everything came out fresh, hot, and flavorful. Pretty chill. $24 for lunch is pretty good. Their lunch menu has a good variety of appetizers, sushi, and skewers. However, their menu is a lot smaller than other AYCE out there, not bad considering the items they do have were pretty tasty. I'd rather have quality over quantity. We went to Catch and Fire to celebrate a birthday and it was a great dining experience. We did the all day dinner during lunch time without any issues. Tiera was our server and she did a great job explaining everything to us. Basically all your orders are done via a tablet. You can only order 20 items at a time and there is a 5 minute wait. We started with all the one per person items and the toro and uni were delicious. I did notice that the nigiri selections were limited but that's okay. What they deserve was very good. As the name implies "fire", the skewers were also very tasty. The beef and pork skewers stood out. The decor was high end. On the side of the restaurant, there were also like 3-4 small divided dining areas. Catch and Fire is located in the Macy's furniture place on Spring Mountain and Arville. Catch and Fire is absolutely incredible! I love they are a la carte and not AYCE Sushi. You'll find them on Arville and Spring Mountain, next to Silverlake Ramen. There's plenty of parking. Soft opening was on May 20, 2026. Grand opening was on June 1, 2026. Inside has good lighting with plenty of seating and awesome background music. Menu offers a nice selection of appetizers, salad, tacos, charcoal skewers, soup & noodles, nigiri, basic rolls, special rolls, sides and desserts. They have a Catch & Fire Special for 2 people ($49.99) which includes 6 skewers, 6 orders of nigiri sushi, 1 specialty rolls, 2 fresh oysters, shrimp and vegetable tempura, 2 udon or ramen, and large hot sake or 2 draft beers. For beverages, there's assorted soft drinks and alcohol including nigori sake, flavored soju, sapporo and asahi draft. I ordered Shrimp Tempura Roll (8 pieces, $6), inside has crispy shrimp tempura paired with avocado and cucumber, rolled in seasoned sushi rice and nori, topped with tempura bits, and has a satisfying crunch. Also had Fried Gyoza ($3), which is crispy deep fried Japanese dumplings filled with pork and vegetables, nicely seasoned and good flavor, served with a dipping sauce that's a little salty. I tried with regular sushi sauce, and it was better with the fried gyoza. Since fried gyoza is flavorful, it doesn't need sauce. For dessert, they have honey toast, cheesecake, tiramisu, ice cream for lychee, red bean, green tea, and vanilla, as well as frozen melona Korean bar with flavors for melon, ube, strawberry, and mango. I tried Oreo Cheesecake ($6), amazingly delightful! It's soft and creamy with a lovely Oreo cookie texture, served with light whipped cream. I paired with Vanilla Ice Cream ($3), it was served frozen. I had to let it thaw for a little bit to soften, it tastes pretty good with whipped cream and Oreo Cheesecake, and not too sweet. Catch: great. Fire: not so much. Noodles: don't even bother. Catch and Fire is a new izakaya that has taken over a former sashimi spot next to Silverlake Ramen. I followed them on social media after seeing their sign up and started seeing ads for a grand opening special for 2 people, and I convinced my friend to go in with me. The special is $49.99, which is certainly savings over the individual items' cost of ~$75; it was pretty easy to add those up since their current gimmick is that most food items are priced at $3, $6, or $9. I guess the word hasn't spread since it was pretty empty when we got there, so we were seated immediately. The food also came out really quickly, almost too fast to keep up with, which is interesting since that also happens in AYCE sushi and these guys might be positioning themselves as an alternative. Either way, maybe building in 1-2 minutes of delay between prepping dishes would have been nice. I'll just break down the items roughly in arrival order rather than how they're listed on the menu. Peach Soju: unlisted option for the included alcohol, and probably the more interesting than a hot sake on a summer day or a basic draft lager. Sweet and pretty smooth. Good palate cleanser for some dishes that may run a bit bitter or otherwise strong. Nigiri: aside from the squid running a bit chewy, all were good or great. The yellowtail, salmon, and tuna all tasted fresh. For 2 pieces at $3 regular price, these are a great deal. But they also have Toro for 1 pc at $3, and it tasted much like any great chu-toro I've had but at a relative steal. Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura: all crispy and nicely cooked, just a bit inconvenient to dip into the one shared small bowl of tempura sauce. I would totally smash one or both of these if I were to return. Black Tiger roll: our choice of specialty roll. Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, unagi, sushi rice all seemed pretty standard. It's the eel choice of the relatively limited specialty roll selection, so it worked for me. Oysters: seemed a bit bitter on the backend much more so than sweet. Haven't gotten sick yet after the meal though, so that's a plus. Skewers: quite underwhelming overall compared to the stronger izakayas around town. Beef Japanese Chimichurri was tasty enough but too chewy, while none of the other items which we chose truly impressed. These were the original Chicken, the tsukune (which they can't even write or pronounce), the Pork Truffle Parmesan, the Butter Shrimp, and Spicy Baby Octopus. The flavors weren't very intense and they obviously don't grill the skewers over binchotan like other local spots do. The soups were the real dealbreaker if anything might be. My friend said his Mini Udon was bland, and somehow I got the exact same if not worse experience in my Black Garlic Ramen. There was just really little flavor of any sort in the broth, which is the whole point of ramen. I had to make it a "shoyu" on my own by adding soy sauce, and it was just tolerable enough after I fixed it. It's not worth considering whether the noodles softened while I ate the other dishes or the pork belly is that good when the base of the ramen was so carelessly prepared. Lighting is a bit too dim for great food pics. Service is attentive and responsive enough. Music seems to be a lot of k-pop and some western pop. Parking might get a bit rougher toward peak dinner or when these guys finally become more popular, which they should at least for some of their foods. Come to Catch & Fire for their $49.99 deal or for a solid, cheap sushi alternative for when you aren't feeling quite hungry enough for all the AYCE spots. It's been pretty good every time we've come here we've visited 3x in the past week lol The food has been consistently fresh and delicious, which is why we kept coming back. The only issue we had was during our 3rd visit. We ordered fresh wasabi, and they only gave us about a teaspoon. 888 Sushi & Robata had a 2hr wait (on a Monday) so we randomly ended up at Catch and Fire when I saw the ayce sign and got curious while stuck at a long red light during the search for a backup dinner spot. It's a similar concept but without a ridiculous 2hr wait so why not. It looks like they only opened about a month ago and have already pivoted to ayce 3 days ago. $36 ayce skewers, apps, ramen, sushi rolls and nigiri is a great deal considering what ala carte would've been a few days ago. Skewers... it's not Raku but it was never going to be for the price. Anywhere that serves scallops with the mantle gets automatic stars from me. The toro, uni and scallops were highlights, but the other skewers were just ok like most didn't have much taste. I ended up dipping them in the overly sweet teriyaki-like eel sauce that was on most of the sushi rolls. Nigiri quality is good, sushi rolls weren't the best but it's the level you'd expect for an ayce place that doesn't specialize in sushi. Great service - really sweet and attentive servers. Ordering is self-service and you can order up to 20 items on the iPad at a time. There's a 5 min wait till you can order more and the food came out quickly but in random order, with a couple things forgotten. I wasn't really hungry, but I saw this on Yelp and couldn't believe sushi options were $3, $6, or $9. What an incredible value! Since I wasn't hungry I decided to dip in and just grab a few things to go. $30 and two bags later I left. Just a few things- Lol Let's talk about it! Yellowtail nigiri for $1.50 each- 2 for $3. Holy cow. Taro nigiri for $3. It was all fresh and the blue fin and taro featured little roe toppings or wasabi. Of course I needed the yellowtail carpaccio. And edamame for only $3? Yes please! An octopus skewer and a $6 tuna hand roll special, and I was on my way. As the friendly staff gathered my order, I wandered the restaurant taking pictures, making sure to stay clear of the other customers. They were super sweet about it because I told them I was Yelping. There is a $49 special. I'm bringing my husband to try that. It looks amazing, and total deal! I can't wait! This please is charming. It reminds me of that Korean restaurant next to the Palms with the private seating. I'm truly excited about coming back. I got home and opened all my little boxes. I started with the yellowtail carpaccio which was similar to sashimi, but had fresh tomato and jalapeno on top. It was just a little burst of flavor. Next came the nigiri. Blue fin for $3. This is wild. It was succulent and rich. I savored that little morsel of joy. Then the octopus skewer - it was crunchy and it had a thick sauce across it that was savory, tangy and not overpowering. There's a tablet to do all the ordering unless you do their $49.99 special. I was really impressed with this place and I didn't expect to like it so much! Their $49.99 for 2 people is a great deal and it was plenty of food for both my fiance and I to feel full. You get the choice to choose your own 6 skewers and nigiri's along with 2 orders of either udon or ramen. To top it off, it also came with hot sake or draft beer. It's a well rounded meal if you ask me. After trying out everything, all their nigiris were so fresh and tasty! The skewers were seasoned nicely and the portions seemed very appropriate for $3 if I were to order it à la carte. The yaki udon was okay but we both really liked the black garlic ramen. We also ordered another order of carbonara tteokbokki. Compared to most places where the rice cakes are usually on the harder side, this one was so chewy and soft! Ended up here after being told the new AYCE omakase place down the street had an hour wait, even though the place was half empty. And I'm so glad we did, because the food here is fantastic! They do AYCE sushi and charcoal grilled skewers among other things for $35 which is a great deal, in my opinion. Mainly because they offer some of the premium cuts of nigiri, such as blue fin/fatty tuna, uni, salmon belly, etc. The uni was excellent: definitely a higher quality uni than your run of the mill AYCE sushi place. I highly enjoyed ordering through the tablet; made me feel like I was in Japan again. Honestly, this place gives me authentic Japanese vibes. The skewers actually almost tasted like the ones I just had in Tokyo, so that's a good thing. It's super clean and modern too, and the service is excellent. Almost 95% of items you order through the iPad like Chubby Cattle BBQ, you can also get the check and server via the iPad as well. I do wish it's a little less rice but they used to only offer à la carte so I understand the ratio because it's perfect for that setting, which they still do both non AYCE and AYCE. I ordered the Tokyo Blaze roll and a Tiger Roll, and both were fresh, flavorful, and really well made. Even after taking it to go, the sushi held up perfectly. The staff was super friendly, my order came out quickly, and the restaurant still had a great atmosphere with people dining in even that late.
