Catch Oyster Bar is my favorite restaurant in Patchogue and among the top 5 restaurants that I bring out-of-town guests, colleagues, and friends to dine at. I wish that we had a restaurant like this in Merrick! It is a bright, cozy, friendly spot on North Ocean Avenue, with plenty of parking in the rear. If you can score a seat at the bar, do so. You can see right through to the open kitchen and watch your clams and oysters being shucked, fresh fish fried, tacos assembled, and soup stirred. I love the visuals! Another plus is that you may sit next to the fisherman that hauled in your catch! (Like I did) Definiatley start with a dozen oysters and/or clams. The mignonette that is served with the oysters is delicious! I also recommend the tacos, New England clam chowder, and crab cakes. Check out the oyster board and the beer board featuring a wonderful selection! Shucked Up Happy Hour is offered weekdays from 1500-1830. It's a great time to get 1/2 priced raw bar and discounted apps, beer, wine and cocktails. Don't leave HH without a mermaid shooter for 5USD! Sunday afternoon in Patchogue in early August. The town is somewhat quiet for some reason. We choose Catch because of the variety of oysters that they offer. So so so good! Came here this afternoon with one of my besties and ate everything. We're both still concerned about COVID, so we called ahead to ask about outdoor seating. Macy assured us that there were picnic tables outside and that the aperol spritzes were flowing. We were in. The picnic tables were in the parking lot, so patio dining - it was not. But the food- THE FOOD! We ordered a dozen oysters, calamari special, fish and chips, the lobster roll (hot and buttered. I would absolutely recommend coming here for their lobster rolls! The bread was super soft and buttery and they did not skimp at all on the lobster meat! They put large and juicy chunks inside and had a really zesty lemon creamy aioli to bind it all together. Seriously, one bite in and I was in lobster heaven. Finally made it to Catch Oyster Bar in Patchogue. I ordered (and ate every flavorful spoonful) of a delicious Seafood Stew. The base was a deeply layered, full flavor broth piled high with clams, mussels, scallops, tomatoes and 2 slices of bread for dunking. Make sure you ask for a spoon, OMG sooooo good. My friend had a fried shrimp po boy, which was also delicious. Service was really good too. I also watched oysters get delivered by someone wearing long boots so I know this person was a local oyster farmer delivering "the goods". I will be back!!! read more

We were out car shopping on 112 and found this place through Yelp! What an AWESOME find! Parking was around back and limited. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table for 2 at 8pm on a Friday. It was worth the wait! One of the specials that night was a soft-shelled crab BLT. It was so good!! My husband ordered the crab cake slider with chowder which was also very, very good. The food came out pretty quickly. The kitchen closed at 9 and we were sure to order some chowder to go because it was sooooo good! The waitress was super nice for being the only server, hostess, and cashier. We loved the decor and the fact that the high tables had hooks on the wall for bags and jackets. It's like being on vacation. My wife and I finally sat for a beer and was compelled to try the food. The friendly atmosphere is great. The kitchen is open so it's as if it's a " show" as you sit at the bar! Great selection of beers, whiskeys and of course oysters. The owner recommended try west coast and eaSt coast oysters and compare the two.. my wife had the calamari and it was great. I would love to come back and have more food. Although I don't believe this deserves all 5 stars,maybe 4.5... it's bc the place is small. Catch Oyster bar has been around for some time and this is one of the places I frequently used to visit pre covid times and it is one of the most unique things that Patchogue Main Street offers. The establishment is located right in the heart of Patchouge. Their menu, decor and drinks are very simple but unique. The place is super tiny, very small only a few tables inside. In therms of food their fried oysters and clams on a halfshell are always super fresh. We found Catch Oyster Bar by accident on a Sunday afternoon and it was amazing. The people that served us were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. It was the best accident ever. The oysters were fresh and delicious and the loaded fries were loaded with clam chowder which was so filling that I had to take them home bc I couldn't finish them. What a Gem of a spot! We had raw the oysters and they we sweet, succulent and buttery. We came to find out that they are farmed in our Great South Bay! I was delighted to hear this news. First off the food is rated 5 stars. Service and particularly the bartender/server rate 0 stars. Came in on a Monday sat at the bar and my wife and I ordered our drinks. My wife's drink came right away. I had to ask a second time "she forgot". Ok it happens. Ordered a second round, same thing she forgets mine. This is a problem. Ordered oysters, they were delicious. No plates, no napkins, had to ask for them. Ordered some hot apps, no problems. Bill comes, I'm charged for three drinks a piece, we had two apiece. Asked for a corrected bill, and received an attitude. "I had a long day" was the excuse. I then received a correct bill. It should also be noted there's a surcharge for using a credit card. I'll return, however if the same bartender is there, I'll find another restaurant. There are plenty to choose from. The food is excellent the service severely lacks. read more

Because we had our dog with us and the weather was a bit chilly today, we chose to order take out and eat in our car. We ordered the fried oyster platter, oyster Po Boy and red snapper tacos. The oyster platter contained 6 large pieces of perfectly fried oysters on a bed of amazing crispy fries. The fish tacos (3) were also very delicious and served with tortilla chips and guacamole. The best seafood place around in my opinion. Super fresh and well executed. Every time i would order clam soup somewhere it was always chewy and in edible but not here! This is the best manhattan clam chowder ive ever had, just perfectly seasoned and the clams are delicious! Not chewy for once! I should have ordered a bigger bowl.. The fried jumbo shrimp were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly on the po boy, the bun and sauce was really good. Also ordered their version of poke which was more like a tuna tartare but still really good and fresh. The chips were soo good and home made. Well, damn...Catch has caught me hook, line, and sinker! I've been itching to go to this place since it opened and finally found the time last night. It is a small place, seating about 25 people or so between the bar and the tables (mostly for 2). We had no problems getting a table. Monday's they offer happy hour all night starting at 4pm and other nights it goes until 7pm. The happy hour menu is where you want to be! Fish tacos for $3 each, bowl of chowder for $3, crab cake and fried oyster sliders $6 each, and there are drink specials too. I opted to go the more expensive route being my first time, but you bet I will be back here for those tacos! We ordered their special of Clams casino to start and two lobster rolls for dinner. Any time I hear "lobster roll" it's no questions asked, plus I've heard from friends that this place had a legit one. They are market price though which I wish I would have asked that first as they were a little expensive. The clams casino were smaller clams, but the flavor packed in the juice and the clam itself were amazing. They have the right idea serving this with bread so you can soak up the juices after inhaling the clams. The lobster roll: comes out on a platter served with chips, coleslaw, and a pickle. It's faily sizeable in comparison to others I've had, and it's not overworked. It's large pieces of lobster, seasoned with some Old Bay and pepper, assuming probably braised in butter, on a buttery, toasted roll with just a hint of lettuce, and a lemon mayo. WOWOWOWOW. Welp, I died and went to Heaven right then and there but had to bring myself back down to continue eating. Awesome spot! Loved the décor, loved that it's not a crazy big place, loved the food.
