I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a review. This is one of our FAVORITE places. It is our Happy hour hot spot. We also came for Valentines Day!! Fantastic. The staff is super friendly and professional. Everything we have had was amazing. Small space but that's on of it's MANY charms. We go every week sometimes twice a week. The food is off the hook. Literally.. I love the Raw Bar, SUPER fresh, fish tacos are insane, i love the Linguine with clam sauce is so delicious, BEST CHOWDERS hands down. I'm a huge Ahi Tuna fan.. best I've ever had! The name is right for this place. They offer oysters from 6 to 8 different areas and they are all good. The waitress did an excellent job at recommending what she called her favorites and did a good job describing them. The menu is great for seafood lovers and I had a hard time deciding which meal to go with. The fish tacos were excellent. I had a combination of blackened fish tacos and grilled fish tacos. The lobster roll appears to be a favorite because several people around us seemed to be enjoying them. This may be my choice next time. read more

This was my second time here. My husband had the lobster roll, i had the tuna poke bowl and we shared the Thai calamari. Everything was delicious and so fresh! Lobster roll was a bit more expensive than I thought it should be ($36) but i guess that's the market price now? The waitress was nice and attentive, we will return. read more

This place is great. I ordered the oysters Macy recommended and was blown away. Followed them up with the fish tacos that had just the right amount of spice but the homemade hot sauce gave it that extra kick. I happened to notice that Catch Oyster Bar was open last night, so I stopped in for dinner. The inside was brightly light, with a couple of booths along the window, a few tables along one wall, and lunch counter style bar with a view into an open kitchen along the other wall. It's a nice looking place. They had a couple of waitresses working, who were busy with other guests when I walked in, so no one greeted me when I walked in. Since there wasn't any obvious hostess stand (and not really any room for one), I assumed it was a sit yourself kind of place, so I went over to an open spot at the bar and sat down at a spot where there were some menus already laid down. I ordered the grilled octopus salad, which had plenty of meat on top of a nice salad. I would have liked a bit more salt on it, but it was still quite delicious. I also ordered the oyster po'boy. It comes on a butter roll rather than a sub roll so it's not exactly authentic, but that's forgiven as soon as you taste the bread. The oysters were crispy and tasty, and the whole sandwich was quite satisfying. It's more art than fact to call this a po'boy but I'm not complaining. I definitely intend to go back. read more

I only use yelp here and there, and that's how I found this place. But I wanted to make sure I didn't leave here without RAVING about how amazing it is! Macey was so sweet and helpful I can't even put into words what a pleasant experience it was. I came after work around 330pm when it isn't crazy busy, 3-630 happy hour, but they are the nicest people you've ever met. Such a cute and cozy whole in the wall, that I had been dying to try since I moved to Patchogue. 100000% worth it. Tacos and oysters are to die for! I kept ordering extra. Wow. Just wow. My girlfriend and I snagged the last 2 open seats at the bar last night and we are so glad. Wasn't expecting the place to be as small as it was so you may have to wait when it's busy. Lobster and corn soup was on the special's menu so had to try that it was very very good. We got mussels in white wine sauce for appetizer and it was a generous portion without being overwhelming. Good size meat too! I really enjoy a cold lobster roll and my girlfriend likes warm with butter--so we compromised and got the cold lobster roll. It was unreal. Huge chunks of meat, lots of flavor and nice texture. The bread was perfectly toasted as well. My girlfriend said it was the best lobster roll she's ever had. We had the shrimp po' boy and that was very good however we can't stop thinking about the lobster roll. The fries were excellent! Would love to go back and try some more dishes, from the bar seats you can see them cooking in the kitchen and the pasta looked amazing. The Avino's have done it again! Formerly of The Chowder House on Porter's Lane in Bellport (now Porters on the Lane) and currently of Avino's Italian Table (also in Bellport) the restaurant pedigree shines through. Helmed by their son, Catch will prove a welcome addition to the Patchogue dining scene. Across from storied Reese's 1900, Catch offers a variety of oysters, both local and shipped in from the Left Coast. We opted for the #9 and Naked Cowboys (hold the jokes, please) which were savory, briney and fresh! (Ever go to a joint and their oysters are room temp? I just threw up in my mouth a bit at the memory.) The menu is small but PERFECT offering a nice range of apps (fried calamari, raw bar offerings, tuna poké, mid-range grub (fish sandwich, hot dog ((actually a sausage)), po' boy, crab cake slider) and slightly higher-end entrées (grilled octopus, etc) Full bar, decent wine selection (some on tap! Woo!) AND... a REALLY GOOD CRAFT BEER line! 10 taps featuring Barrier, Blue Point (of course), Greenport and Crooked Ladder to name a few. The selection of the beer was intelligently done as well as they all served to compliment oysters: Blue Point Oyster Stout, Barrier's Kölsh, Greenport's Tidal (a Vienna lager). Wife and I had the fried oyster Po' boy which, though fried, proved light and crisp. The mayo seasoning was just right and not overpowering. Even the chips were good and not the super-salty mess you get with a lot of sandwich platters! It is a SMALL joint. I don't know if they take reservations but be prepared for a wait or, come early. There are three, two-tops along the south wall. Bench seating and some more two tops run along the west wall that faces the street. These can maybe be combined for one larger group (not recommended) or several couples. A modest bar runs along the center separating diners from the bartender and the kitchen. IMO, the best seats will be somewhere along the center of the bar. We sat at one of the last two tops and whenever the back door was opened, there was a wind-tunnel effect that froze you to your huevos. But it is March and that's not the fault of ownership. It's sparsely decorated with a maritime theme that pleasantly does not go overboard (no fake netting or plastic crabs like at Long John Silver's, matey!) The only thing I **might** change is the lighting. I love the fixtures (caged bulbs reminiscent of marine vessels or inside a submarine) but the white lights kill me. But that's just me, not a major issue. Also, I **might** sacrifice one seat at the bar (perhaps the small, trapezoidal area between the two plastic cases) to make a server station. Our waitress was quite attentive and friendly but struggled mightily to get drinks from the bar out to patrons without spilling them on folks. Parking is also tight. There's a small lot behind the resto (off of Oak). I would either try to park along Oak (FREE!) or in the lot on the south side of Oak and walk over. Though it has 2 TVs, I wouldnt come here for the Big Game or a UFC event. It has a fun, casual vibe. This is a perfect desitination for Sunday afternoons or maybe to get some oysters and cocktails in yer belly before hitting the rest of the town. First time visit, went for my birthday with family for lunch. Took a chance and was extremely pleased! -Beer selection: local breweries on tap, other more common brands bottle/can -Mixed drinks: Someone at my table got a Bloody Mary. Plenty of horseradish "it was a chewy drink" which the recipient thoroughly enjoyed, he ordered a second one. -Apps: We got the Thai calamari. Had candied walnuts and apple chunks and a tangy sauce. That's a winner! -Entrees: lobster roll had large chunks of meat, not the scraps found at other places. Shrimp PoBoy was a winner with 2 at the table. Fish tacos got a good review too. So far, I've been here a few times and I have to say, all the seafood is super fresh. My daughter loves their fried oysters and she hasn't deviated from that. I loved their crab cake special with this light mango salsa which is out of this world and should be on the regular menu. It's served as an appetizer but I was happy with it as a main. One of my favorite spots to visit, mostly for happy hour. Can't beat $6 mussels! I also love the $5 crab cake slider and fish tacos. It's a tight squeeze so it's usually hit or miss for a seat. I do think the customer service could improve. The best oysters you will find on the island. Hands down. Next would be little creek in green port and then salt and barrel in bay shore. Future husband and I go adventuring for oysters all over the island and I must say that if you are ever in the area and wanted to try oysters for the first time DO IT HERE. Only negative is that you will forever be comparing other oysters spots to Catch oysters and they will never measure up. It was a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't really packed and the food came out fast. Happy hour was well worth it for those oysters, $1.25 each. Loved this charming little oyster bar. Feels like your in Montauk without the traffic and prices! It was early in COVID when we went but everyone was doing their best to both accommodate diners and keep everyone distanced and safe. SO GOOD. Their oysters are so fresh. I had a pretty basic meal, chicken Caesar salad and seafood bisque. The chicken was grilled to perfection and the bisque was out of this world. Thick and creamy, but didn't upset my lactose sensitive stomach. My bf had tacos that he won't stop talking about. I think it was the fish tacos. Strong drinks too.
