We've pretty much been regulars here for years, and have found the food and service to be consistently very good. My husband and I ate here this past Saturday, and it turned out to be a really special meal. Every single item was perfect. We started with the salad bar. Catfish Parlour always has the prettiest and freshest lettuce. I had the fried jumbo shrimp, with fried okra, and rice. Hubby had fried oysters, with fried okra. Both came with french fries, of course. Every single item and bite was delivered to our table hot and cooked perfectly. The shrimp were large, crispy and tasty, as was the okra and the rice. My husband said his oysters were perfect, and cooked exactly like he would have fried them at home - hot and crispy. The french fries were crispy and tasty. Even the iced tea was terrific! Zak was our server and he did a great job of taking care of us. As I said above, this place has always been good, but it's really difficult to get everything just right - from main course to the sides to the drinks to the service. Haven't been in ages but lots of reasons not to go back. My first is anytime I see a TV on the wall tuned to Fox News I walk out if I can. I was with a group and could not. It tells me A LOT about the management. Second lunch express is a fail. They bark at you to get fries and your server will bring you your fish. 15 minutes later cold fries and we finally had our fish. I happened to notice the salad bar and we got a plate. It was never mentioned by our "waitress". They shared with me they are short staffed but much of the above could be cleared up with better customer service AND put the TV on HGTV or the weather channel. This turned out to be exactly like I thought it would be. Unfortunately, I was overruled by family to go here. The catfish was tasteless and mostly breading which was pretty much also tasteless. The best part of the meal were the sides. The beans and the green beans were both good so if you could order those things I'd recommend the place. Super disappointed considering I grew up eating at the Austin location. Good Place was clean... hostess was nice and for the most part too care of use initially. Difficult/Different Wait staff didn't seem to worried about taking care of a simple 4 top and more concerned with table of 10. Had to ask for every single item, silverware, refills, sugar fire coffee, napkin's all the basics. Food - fish over cooked, shrimp rubbery, chicken fried steak tough... Took an hour and half to get our food, when our food finally arrived I took a bite of my chicken and it had a weird taste and was very chewy, I then cut into the chicken finding out it was raw. Funny how a bowl of romaine, some tomato wedges, croutons and 3 choices of dressing could be mistaken as a salad bar. Then came the gumbo - pretty sure if a Cajun ever showed up here they'd march into the kitchen and explain how to make a proper roux ( by the way that doesn't include opening and cans). We have always loved catfish Parlour! We have gone a few times this past month and our last visit was horrible. I decided to have my birthday dinner here and ended up leaving unhappy. There was nine of us so I do understand how hectic a big party can be but our waitress was new and had no idea what she was doing and she had no help. She kept rolling her eyes when we would ask for something. Most of our meals came with 3 sides and she told us we couldnt have most of our sides because we have to get the family sides. I wanted fries, okra and cabbage. She told me I couldnt have okra because no one else was getting okra. We have been there 3 times this past month or two and have not been told that I cannot have okra. I was shocked. Over half of us ordered sweet tea, no lemon and they all came with lemon. My dad is allergic to lemon. I'm not sure we will be coming back for awhile. read more

I've lived in Georgetown my entire life and wanted to finally check this place out. My wife and I ordered to go and this is our experience with the food. I ordered the All American plate which is 4 pieces of catfish, fries, slaw, beans, hush puppies and tarter sauce. The catfish pieces were so TINY. For comparison, McDonalds chicken nuggets were about the same size of the catfish pieces I received. Little to no seasoning. Slaw, beans and fries were OK. The only thing that really impressed me was the jalapeño tartar sauce. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes with white gravy, hush puppies and beans. She also added a side order of fried okra. The chicken fried steak was so CHEWY and didn't feel like it was seasoned. Everything else was OK. While the food was not impressive, the staff was extremely friendly when ordering and picking up. I advise those looking for catfish to go to Bob's Catfish. read more

On our way to Austin we got hungry and yelped places to eat in Georgetown, Texas. This place popped up! With generally good reviews, we decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised! This place is huge! Nicely decorated and full of atmosphere! The theme was a Hawaiian one this day as the owner's wife was celebrating her birthday! It was kinda cool seeing all the waitstaff dressed up Hawaiian style! As we scanned the menu a charming server by the name of Heather came up and was so friendly and helpful! After we ordered they brought these incredible hushpuppies out as appetizers before our food came out and they are the best I've ever had! So good! I couldn't stop eating them! With each entree you can also help yourself to a great Caesar Salad bar! The greens were so fresh and the Caesar dressing was so good! I could feast on the salad alone! Once the entrees came out they were accompanied by "Fixins"..a really good cole slaw and beans! Nice additions they really complimented the catfish, shrimp & coconut shrimp that we had. We also ordered a blackened tilapia filet that came with the Catfish Parlour entree. So good! If you're ever in the Georgetown, Texas area check this place out! Ask for Heather...a very sweet server and so helpful! The owner, Chris came by and he was very nice also! Wanted to make sure everything was ok and very personable! Delicious catfish! Great restaurant! The location is easy accessible off Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas. This about 30 minutes North of Central Austin. The staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant is very clean. It has a great ambiance and it has at least one TV, so you can watch a game. The Menu includes a fantastic variety of food and the food is very fresh. I highly recommend the onion rings, the catfish, hush puppies and shrimp. Try it spicy! On the way home from my parents' house in Sun City, we realized we were pretty hangry and decided to give the north location a try. It had been a while since we've been for fried catfish and all the fixins. I had been dreaming about this specific coleslaw, and had been all over town trying to find it - and it was the stuff at Catfish Parlor. So, so good. It's herby and vinegar-y and wonderful. The beans were just ok, but the hushpuppy sticks are out of this world. The salad bar is lettuce, dressing, and cheese, but hey, you're here for other things. As for the main course - just as you'd expect from a place that specializes in fried seafood - it was awesome (fresh, not soggy, etc). The jalapeno tartar sauce is just about the perfect accompaniment to any fried food. The only thing I remembered differently, and this may be that it was dinner, not lunch, or this location does it differently, was that there was a buffet bar of sides. And I think there was a larger variety. Not that I was lacking for food (oh my gosh, no), but that was different. The service was great, the restaurant is cute and kitchy, and we even got sent home with the recipe for the coleslaw!!! I've passed this particular Catfish Parlour location quite a few times since my parents moved to Georgetown. Been wanting to try it out, so we finally stopped in on Sunday for lunch. The somewhat new building lead me to believe the interior would feel new as well.... but it actually seemed pretty dated. The decor really made me feel like I was in a hole-in-the-wall, which is fine if that's what they were going for... just didn't seem like the exterior and interior really went together. I was fully expecting a plethora of fried foods, but I'm currently trying to watch my figure so I greatly appreciated the assortment of grilled plates on the menu. All entrees include a "ceasar salad bar" and side. The salad bar kind of grossed me out, not sure why restaurants still do anything buffet style. Just seems unsanitary...and would it kill them to whip up a couple of salads in the kitchen? I was really happy with my actual meal though. The Spicy Grilled Catfish Filet was perfectly prepared.... but be forewarned: their version of "spicy" does have a kick to it, so don't order unless you like your food pretty fiery. The staff seemed pretty cold. Our server was an older lady and wasn't really into conversing with her clientele. This might not be the job for her. Would have probably had a more pleasant experience if she had even 10% more personality than what she gave off. But then again, this is Georgetown... not exactly hopping with young, vibrant people in the service industry. I'll probably be back to try out some of the other grilled menu items.
