"Application" process was easy and I did a virtual tour via FaceTime with Millie (one of the owners). She was super calm and answered every single question I had & showed me every nook and cranny or the school and where kiddo was going to be. PK2 here we come! 1st day I don't think it ever gets easier sending your kiddo to a new school. Kiddo was a touch apprehensive of a new environment but Teacher Nikki was so incredibly warm and welcoming to kiddo (and hubs and I)! Immediately I knew he was going to be just fine. We met Teacher Monique the next day or so - they coteach PK2 - and she's a gem. Both teachers are warm & caring (like aunties) and their love for teaching shines through! The classroom Together Monique & Nikki have created a thriving classroom full of areas to explore with defined spaces & boundaries. There a reading circle, pet fish, reading pod, and then nap mats for the kiddos to use after lunch before afternoon activities. If the kids don't nap they do have the option to read/look at books quietly. The PK2 classroom has two restrooms with kiddo sized toilets and sinks. Each season brings new decorations to the classroom (and school). There are days when kiddo is having a rough morning and both Teacher Nikki and Teacher Monique are angels getting him into class quickly, settled and then sharing with us that he's ok which I so appreciate because there's nothing worse than leaving your kiddo in tears! The school overall Goddard does a host of extra activities- summer bbq, Father's Day celebration, Trunk-or-Treat, holiday concert to name a few. Each brings the Goodard teachers & families together in a special way, along all to get to know each other a little better, enabling us partner for our kid's. Goddard is a pretty special place. One that is developing our kid in an amazing way and preparing him for kindergarten!

I ended up needing to cancel the tour and replied via email that I needed to cancel (as the email instructed) and stated I would contact the school when I needed to reschedule. I've received phone calls almost everyday for the last 2 weeks asking to reschedule and every time I've answered I've explained and made it explicitly clear that I would call to reschedule and they did not need to call me so frequently. I've started letting their phone calls go to voicemail.

When I say beautiful, I mean the materials the children get to interact with every day are next level. Everything feels so intentional, carefully chosen and really aligned with the Montessori method. Our daughter has attended Rocklin Ranch Montessori from 16 months old through age four, with some pauses along the way while I stayed home with her and later had two more girls. But we have always come back to Rocklin Ranch, and Aman and the teachers who have had our girls have been excellent. One of the best parts of the school is the communication. They send daily updates, especially for children in the 16 month to 3 year age range, and weekly photos. Their newsletter is wonderful and keeps parents updated and it is so special to regularly see photos of your child with their friends throughout the week. They also have a great skills chart where they track what your child is learning and working on. The outdoor play area and playground are gorgeous. There is a beautiful little garden and outdoor space where the children get to eat lunch and the whole environment feels sweet, calm and thoughtfully cared for. I also really appreciate that the children have the opportunity to nap for up to 2.5 hours, which is such a gift for young kids. They also have an option for the girls to play soccer during the day, which has been really great for our family and has simplified the need to put them in an extra soccer program after school or on weekends. Their pick up and drop off hours are also extremely flexible which has been so helpful for us. We currently have two daughters enrolled in Montessori and one of the sweetest parts is that they get to see each other during the day. That has honestly changed childcare for us, just knowing that they are both there together and near each other, instead of totally separate all day. Our eldest had been attending preschool for a few weeks already where we lived previously so I was less concerned about his adjustment but I was concerned about him napping as that is a requirement and at his old school he would skip naps, that concern was quickly relieved when his teachers told me he was actually napping and one of the first to fall asleep. He is especially fond of one of his teachers Miss Lily and I am too. We both work which is why they go to school which means when they have field trips we can't take them and recently they went on one and Miss Lily drove some of the kids including ours which I was incredibly nervous about since we had never had anyone else drive our children. Miss Lily made sure we knew where they were, was understanding of our concerns and assured us he was in good hands which he absolutely was. He loves miss Lily so much he wants to invite her to his birthday party. Overall, we have had a great experience so far. It was rough the first few weeks attending as we were getting hit with illness after illness but I think that was more to do with our youngest never being in a school environment before and putting everything in his mouth catching every bug possible but that's how that goes anywhere. We hope to be able to send our kids here as long as possible!

Our story is a bit unique when it comes to Grammy's Playhouse. We have twin girls and tried to send…read morethem to Grammy's shortly after their 2nd birthday. Prior to their first day, Grammy had us over to the preschool a few times, free of charge, to just spend time and try to get the girls comfortable for the transition. We cautiously hoped they were ready and gave it a shot. After the first official week, with tears in both of our eyes, Grammy and I agreed that one of our twins just wasn't ready. We waited another 6 months and again, Grammy gave much of her time allowing us to come 2-3 times on her days off to allow the twins to adapt to the preschool environment without all of the other kids. It took a couple of weeks but before we knew it, our girls were thriving. Grammy was so gentle with both our children and our mama hearts during this time. I think you can look at the website and instagram to get a feel of the type of curriculum and style Grammy has, but I want to speak about Grammys heart and passion she has for helping each of her students grow and succeed. She is dedicated to her kids, spends countless hours "off the clock" planning, organizing, attending birthdays, creating care packages, hosting events, all for the kids and their families who are lucky enough to be a part of Grammys circle. She truly cares and is gentle and soft and understanding. My daughters, who used to be terrified to step through the doors, now love going to Grammys and can't wait to tell me everything they learned and all the friends they have. The pure joy I have seeing pictures of them learning, playing, creating, THRIVING. I've never felt so proud. Grammy has been such a blessing to our family and I couldn't recommend her enough.
