The bartender was really on top of things, and I could tell he really knew what he was doing. I asked to taste a couple of the reds, and when he didn't have one downstairs, he poured me a taste of another Pinot Noir to sip while he ran upstairs to get the one I'd asked about. They serve many good wines, both very local and from other California regions. Some of the interesting local ones include a few varietals from the local Allan Hancock community college's viniculture program. The Allan Hancock ($9/glass) 2023 Pinot Noir was pretty impressive! Fruity and young. I also very much enjoyed the Kleemeier (also Santa Barbara County) 2024 Pinot Noir, which belied its young age in the best way ($12/ glass). This space has the bar and some soft seating, and around the corner is another seating area that looks like a wine cellar. Very cozy and cute. I will return.

I ordered the pork ribs and hash brown casserole while my friend ordered the ravioli. We enjoyed the beans, pickles and crackers while we waited; it wasn't long before our meals arrived. The ribs were delicious and huge! Very meaty, not skimpy at all, and just enough seasoning to make them pop. The hash brown casserole was also terrific, and I enjoyed those leftovers the next day. The ravioli is stuffed with meat, and the meat sauce was thick and, well, meaty. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! I recommend you make a reservation if you can. They do take walk-ins but you might be waiting a long time.

I've attached some pics I took of some maps and pages of books that Homer shared with us. We actually came the first time and got schooled on wine for 15 min. Bought a bottle. Went back to our hotel room and got a pretty good buzz. Boyfrand said "let's go get another bottle and see Homer my guy". Served on a traditional tea tower, the tea sandwiches were egg salad, cucumber and cream cheese with ham and strawberry's and cream on cinnamon bread. I also was served a banana muffin with clotted cream, an Angel food cake and fresh cut fruit. - Thank you to Nancy for being such a kind hostess and for offering this tea service with honored dietary restrictions such as dairy-free. I went for the $20 tasting and spent a lovely hour at the tasting bar, learning about the wines, the Stellers' history in Orcutt (as well as his great-great-great-great uncle who named the Steller Jay!). There are nice seating options, a few pretty couches and room for large or small parties (21+ only - them's the rules, peeps). If you like to sip and shop, be sure to visit Mrs Steller's boutique (Steller Home) a block away as well as the Deja Vu antique mall- about a 10 minute walk.

They have a small menu which changes monthly. I think this is my new favorite place in Pismo Beach. This a great little tavern. I highly recommend it.
