My Son wanted a steak for his 8th grade Graduation so we landed on this place. Luckily we beat the crowd, waited less than 20 mins to be seated. The atmosphere was good, western and I like the dim lighting. They have a bar that seemed to be rambunctious for a Tuesday but didn't get to that area. It was our first time. Ordered the steak bites with mash potatoes which came with your choice of soup or salad. I picked the beef stew soup which ended being really good. The starters came about family style. Rack of bread and butter, a small pot of beans ( this we didn't know was shared) but that's ok. My friend got the lobster Mac n cheese. Everyone (3) got the prime rib with either fries or salad. We stopped by Cool Hand Luke's as we came into town and absolutely loved the western vibe -- such a fun and welcoming atmosphere! My daughter had the steak bites, and they were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. I went with the BBQ tri-tip sandwich, which was a great choice. I really appreciated that the BBQ sauce was served on the side -- kept the sandwich from getting soggy or messy, and the flavor was spot on. My boyfriend ordered the seared ahi tuna, and wow -- it was packed with flavor and definitely a complete, satisfying meal. Had dinner last night with my family. I ordered the steak sandwich. It came with fries. Bread was soggy. But the meat was super flavorful. We had potato skins for appetizer and it was very good. That said, the food was just okay this time. We visited about a year ago and were surprised by how different the atmosphere felt now. The restaurant had a musty smell, like dirty carpet, and the décor above as well as the window curtains were visibly dusty. First impressions matter, and the entrance was noticeably dirty. There was even a Swiffer left out near the front desk, which looked careless. This used to be a great steakhouse. I decided to order something off their specialty menu and omg it was a huge mistake. Laugh at me for ordering a country fried steak but if they're claiming it's a fan favorite it better be good. But it was soggy and somewhat cold again. I was really sad :( It was warm/room temp which made me feel like maybe it was pre made but idk.. whatever. Bottom line is that I could've gotten better from Pappys. My boyfriend had ribs, brother had steak bites, and my cousin had a steak salad. Those were pretty good but again also not hot. The food was meh, but the portions were large. Beans on the table before the meal is strange but hey, it's certainly a conversation starter. Went in today January 1st 2026, there was no hostess to greet anyone we stood there fir a good 10 minutes. I walked in dining area to see if someone was there, but only saw 1 server and 4 tables with people seated, 1 table was a larger party. I went to bar ask the guy if anyone was out front to help us. She asked for name, and how many...I turned around with no one else behind us...ahh 2. She them asked for our phone number " in case you leave something " What the heck!!! She then tells us it will be about 20 to 25 minutes for a table to be ready.....there were only 4 tables with people at them the place was empty. Unless they were only using just those 4 tables.. So I went to the bar and asked if it would be quicker at the bar, he said "Well maybe" you can sit at the pub tables and I'll be with you as soon as I can. I said can we sit and eat at the bar. That is okay but the tempura shrimp was not served right away and unfortunately the dish was not even lukewarm. The chicken fried steak is not good. Bad batter and mushy texture. No flavor in steak. Truly disappointed and quite unsatisfied. I came in about 12:40pm and was quickly seated and helped by my server Karen. I ordered a Sundance shrimp and a 20oz steak with mash potatoes and clam chowder soup. My food came in at 1:38pm. The shrimp was quite salty and very vinegary. The steak I ordered a medium red and it was well done. I waited a long time so I didn't send it back but it wasn't to my liking very dry, the mash were quite cold as well but decent in flavor, the clam chowder was tasty. This was a huge disappointment. We have come here several times over the years and never had such terrible food... I ordered the sizzling steak bites, ya there was no sizzle about them. Ice cold, the skillet was not even hot!!!!! The cheese never melted. Don't get me started on the steak, ya it was actually medium rare but it was the weirdest cooked steak I have even seen. I don't even know how to describe it. It was like they cooked it, cut it up and served it maybe? I have ordered this plate numerous times and it has always been cooked on all 4 sides, not cooked and then cut for you. It was dry and in my honest opinion, looked like the scrap pile. Two of us ordered hot dishes and they were all ice cold as soon as we got them. Mashed potatoes were cold even in the middle to were the butter would not melt at all!
