We stopped by Cool Hand Luke's as we came into town and absolutely loved the western vibe -- such a fun and welcoming atmosphere! My daughter had the steak bites, and they were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. I went with the BBQ tri-tip sandwich, which was a great choice. I really appreciated that the BBQ sauce was served on the side -- kept the sandwich from getting soggy or messy, and the flavor was spot on. My boyfriend ordered the seared ahi tuna, and wow -- it was packed with flavor and definitely a complete, satisfying meal. We also grabbed the Jim Beam bourbon salmon to go -- haven't tried it yet, but it looks absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this spot for great food, a relaxed vibe, and friendly service!

My order was abruptly canceled no explanation other than that they were "unable to fulfill the order."

We placed an order at noon today for a Thanksgiving dinner, which was confirmed. Ten minutes before our scheduled pickup time, the order was suddenly canceled. This left my family and most sadly, my kids, who had specifically requested dinner from here without the meal we were counting on. I understand things happen, but if they were unable to fulfill the order, it would have been considerate and professional to let us know hours before pick-up, not just 10 minutes prior. That would've given us time to make other arrangements. Very disappointing experience, especially on a holiday.

Came by this past Sunday before going across the parking lot to the winery to listen to live music. They have an all day everyday happy hour. What a great deal. They had tables set up in the parking lot as well as an inside dining room and separate saloon (bar). I ordered a $7 well drink, one of their $5 shots, and $5 potato skins. Food and were delivered timely. Food and drinks were fine. Service was efficient and mildly friendly.

Great ambience, walks in no reservations party of 6, friendly and patient accommodating staff. Great service and great portions and food delivery as prompt! Would come back in the future. Fun spot to grab a good steak I would say.

We had good customer service, our server Megan was very polite and attentive, even while juggling multiple tables. The wait time was short, which we appreciated. That said, the food was just okay this time. We visited about a year ago and were surprised by how different the atmosphere felt now. The restaurant had a musty smell, like dirty carpet, and the décor above as well as the window curtains were visibly dusty. First impressions matter, and the entrance was noticeably dirty. There was even a Swiffer left out near the front desk, which looked careless. This used to be a great steakhouse. I hope management takes steps to address these easily fixable issues, it would make a big difference.

We came here for my Dads birthday party in November 2024. We originally wanted to go to other local spots but unfortunately they don't take reservations and we were a large group. It's all good, I've been to cool hand Luke's a few times and it's always been good? Our waitress was amazing and literally remembered everything. She deserves an award. Truly. Drinks were good. Apps were mid. We ordered their Sundance Shrimp and it was very disappointing. Looked nothing like the picture and was soggy. Fried shrimp dipped in sauce should ideally come out warm and somewhat crisp. This dish came out room temp and soggy. Huge disappointment. I decided to order something off their specialty menu and omg it was a huge mistake. Laugh at me for ordering a country fried steak but if they're claiming it's a fan favorite it better be good. But it was soggy and somewhat cold again. I was really sad :( It was warm/room temp which made me feel like maybe it was pre made but idk.. whatever. Bottom line is that I could've gotten better from Pappys. My boyfriend had ribs, brother had steak bites, and my cousin had a steak salad. Those were pretty good but again also not hot. Very room temperature or warm which was concerning. We took our unfinished plates to go and warmed it up today and omg it was like wayyyyy better than it was fresh bc it was super hot. Idk if that's a good thing? All I know is my $300 check wasn't worth our night out. Will I be back? Possibly... we'll see..

My husband and I came here on a Friday night for my first visit. We were greeted with great customer service--our waiter was friendly and attentive, which really stood out. We started with the onion blossom, but unfortunately, it didn't meet our expectations. For my main dish, I ordered the Luke Western-style ribeye with loaded potatoes. The steak was absolutely delicious--cooked perfectly and full of flavor. However, the loaded potatoes were underwhelming and didn't pair as well with the entrée as I had hoped. I also tried the clam chowder, but it wasn't to my liking. The overall vibe of the place was nice and relaxed, though it was quite loud due to several company parties and birthday celebrations happening at the same time. Overall, while the service and atmosphere were great, the food was a bit of a letdown. I'd consider coming back, but I'd probably try different menu items next time.

Oh the outstanding disappointment We can start with the positive and that is the fact that their fries are good, and they have ranch so that's a plus. Both of our entrees were below par - the salad wasn't too bad except the pieces of lettuce that should have been discarded when they were prepping but I can see they are tying to save money where they can The staff is maybe under staffed ? We waited - party of 2 for about 25 minutes and the whole restaurant had open tables when we walked in. Very misleading. I understand sections being closed but this was weird to me. Staff is nice, sweet, and we'll trained. The decor is so darn cool in there, I LOVE IT !!!!! I really like the idea of this place but I wish the food was better :)

That misleading listing is what caused me to book in the first place. When I discovered the error, I called to cancel. I asked three times whether a refund would be approved. Because I trusted their word, I lost the window to just bite the bullet and make the hour drive to and from family. I had to book a second hotel out of pocket, stretching my budget in a way that was genuinely costly. All because a staff member couldn't simply say "I don't know" instead of giving me false assurances to get off the phone. This isn't a miscommunication. It's a lack of integrity. The building is from 1917 and you can feel it everywhere.... dark wood, stained glass, a ship model in a glass case, an old house telephone booth, a hand-painted figurehead hanging from the ceiling holding lanterns. It's not trying to be charming, it just is. The tri-tip sliders and pretzel bites were so good I forgot to take a picture before they were gone (especiallythe tri tip sliders). Happy hour pricing made the whole thing even better. Seriously, if you're anywhere near Santa Maria, make the drive. I'll definitely be back and I'm a little annoyed it took me this long to find it! Tim the bartender was also outstanding. Friendly, warm and informative and of course a great bartender.

To give an idea of how much we like these, we stayed at the hotel for a few nights so we could drink a few extra rather than drive. I used to get to NYC and LA a lot, and particularly when Tim is bartending you are definitely getting drinks that would be competitive in a major city's better coctail bar. The other bartenders are also solid (e.g., some of us preferred Lorene's Espresso Martini and Dennis down in the Barrel Room is great but does drinks with a different style/mixers). The food is also quite tasty now. We were there in winter 2024 when there was some kind of big turnover on the kitchen area, and it had been hit-or-miss. New kitchen for 2025 does well on bar staples (e.g., burgers, sliders). The fish and chips is also pretty great: I'm a hard grader on fish, but everyone realy enjoyed them: light, crispy breading that goes great with lemon. For kids, the popcorn maker was a huge hit, though they could use one or two more kid-friendly entrees. Service is friendly, with good decorum (e.g., fine to have plenty of drinks, but pretty obviously not a place to get wild). As there is often only one bartender on duty, I usually just ordered up at the bar and they'll take it to you. Happy hour was 3-5 PM, daily I think- a few bucks off of drinks and most (all?) food half-price. Overall, had a great time. We'd definitely get back again.

Me and a buddy of mine had some issues with a few of the self pour taps where we just believed they were out of beer and it also over charged us. I told a server about my single issue where it over charged me and he said he would take care of it but my friend had the worst of luck. 2/3 beers he attempted to pour were simply out.
