Dinner good but did not meet expectations. We felt very rushed to order, then entree arrived before we were finished with our starter and same with dessert. Took only my husband's order for dessert I guess it is common to share so they didn't even ask me and didn't offer any bevereage with dessert. I requested a coffee which unfortunately didn't come until my dessert was done and a communication disconnect on cream w\ coffee. Food was okay but I've definately had much better. There were plenty of open tables and no line...not sure what the rush was all about. Resturant is loud and seating is very tight. They also add a 3% charge for kitchen staff onto your bill and 1% for some local situation... We won't be back and if these things bother you when you dine... well you decide what to do. read more

I found this amazing place thanks to the Yelp community while looking for a place to celebrate my brother's graduation. I'm not familiar with anything in the area because we come from Miami and had little to no clue on where to go for dinner. So, after some browsing and reading I made my reservation through open table for 12 people. Upon our arrival, it took almost no time for them to sit us, amazing! We were starving! As soon as we sat down the very friendly waitress was able to get a hang of our crowded and loud table with excellent professionalism (were Italians, were loud! Lol) She offered me to try a few wine options before I could pick our bottles for the night and everyone loved it. They also have cocktails that blew our minds off. The food is tasty without being salty. Great mixture of flavors, greatly executed plates and beautiful presentations. The pizzas were also delicious with a very traditional Italian thin crust. My brother had the steak, he didn't love it but I think it was good. All the pastas were off the roof! Desserts were mouth watering just to watch them arrive, and even better when we tasted them. I went with a group of 8 friends on a Saturday night. Parking was pretty hard to find and I ended up parking at the King Soopers. We had a bit of a wait for our table, but we're able to find spots at the small bar to wait. A couple in my party arrived well past our reserved time, but they still sat the rest of us which was appreciated. The service and food was very good. If you enjoy Italian food then Cattivella is a must!!!!! Surprised it wasn't as busy as it should around 9:30pm on a Saturday given the food was phenomenal. All the dishes we ordered blow us away and they were generous with the portions as well. We, party of two, went with the rabbit gnocchi, the Italian dish of the day which was braised beef with risotto and got the rib eye pizza. Man oh man oh man that was deliciously a lot of food but we were happy to eat it all! Everything in this place is perfect. The food, portion, price and service. Thanks to my brother's recommendation I had my first, of what i hope will numerous times, experience enjoying the cuisine at this restaurant. This first time I enjoyed the outstanding Drago, The Dragon cocktail (ideal for bourbon lovers); snd the delicious food: surprisingly delicate charboiled oysters; perfectly* grilled (*without overly wilted) romaine insalata w/anchovy dressing & croutons (~ Caesar salad); and their Quattro Formaggi pizza (with very light crust). Stopped in to Cattivella for a birthday dinner on Monday.had Happy Hour all day- note their happy hour is only food! We ordered a ton of appetizers but my favorite was definitely the burratta. For an entree I ordered lamb Ragu. It was good but the pasta itself was not the best I've ever had. Service was 10/10. The tiramisu would be the main reason I return! It was delicious!!! read more

Food was very good. Menu has a lot of good options. Service in the other hand was not good. My wife ordered a mushroom pizza but said please hold the goat cheese. Well guess what, it came with goat cheese. They took the pizza back and said we would get another but they basically just scraped off the goat cheese and then had the audacity to tell my wife, you should have told us you were allergic to goat cheese. Well she isn't, she just didn't want it in her pizza. Since we were entertaining at a restaurant recommended by our guests we did not want to make a scene, but I will never go back there again and be treated like that. Cattivella checks all of the expected boxes for a restaurant owned by the former executive chef at Panzano. It's a beautiful restaurant with plenty of windows to take in a Colorado sunset. I loved the open kitchen with plenty of seats at the counter. I couldn't stop watching the chefs do their thing. Opening day at Cattivella for me started with charbroiled oysters and a charcuterie plate from the happy hour menu. If you are a fan of oysters, you'll love the buttery oysters charbroiled on the wood-fired grill. If you're not a fan of oysters, you'll love the buttery oysters charbroiled on the wood-fired grill. For the main courses, we ordered the lamb ragu and the pollo. The pasta with the lamb ragu was amazing. It may have been handmade on site. I finally gave this place a try! It's been on my "date night" list for quite some time especially since we live close by. We ended up meeting some friends there instead on a snowy night. We had some really nice cocktails while we waited for our food. They brought some nice crusty bread and some oil and vinegar for the table. For the life of me, I can't recall the name of my dish (and it's not listed on their website so perhaps it's seasonal?) It may have been the Cozze? Whatever the name, it was unbelievably phenomenal! It was meatballs over stuffed tortellini in this incredible red sauce! Honestly, those might be the best meatballs I have ever put in my mouth! *drooling is ensuing just thinking about them again!* My BF ordered the petite steak dinner special of the night and then we paired their house Cabernet's with dinner. He ate every single bite on his plate! It was a bit much for me to lick my plate, so they delightfully packaged up mine as leftovers. I ate it for breakfast! It was that good! After dinner being so good, I ate dessert! I almost NEVER order dessert, but I thought, if dinner was that good, I KNOW that Tiramisu is gonna be good! Yup! Can confirm. Don't say no to dessert! I failed to take a picture of dessert. I was probably in a food coma at that point! Service is outstanding. I mean really, I think we were the last patrons in the restaurant (we didn't realize it from taking away) and they never shushed us or made us feel like we needed to rush off. Hi. I am obsessed with you Cattivella. This place is awesome. I wish I could eat here all the time and if I lived closer it would be very dangerous. We started off with Buffalo Burratta. This was amazing. Creamy oozy cheese atop delicious flatbread pieces and marinated tomatoes. We also enjoyed charbroiled oysters which were to die for. I don't know what they put on top, but it was a mix of buttery parmesan goodness. For dinner, I had the Agnolotti Dal Plin Di Fonduta Con Tartufo. I made my waiter say it three times fast and quizzed him a couple of times. ;) The flavors were just as complex as the name but played together in a tantalizing way that left my plate clean. Who wouldn't like sage, browned butter, cheese and truffle? YES YES YES! I was also able to try the Pollo Valdostana which was my absolute favorite. I will definitely get it next time. It is a super thin cutlet of chicken fried and resting on truffle mashed potatoes. YUM. They also have some amazing looking pizzas and their cocktail game is on point. I love this place. It can get a little pricey for a regular night out, but it is worth every bite and a great place to meet friends and catch up for a nice evening out. Four of us ate here recently. We were a little puzzled by the sign on the door that says no one will be admitted without a mask after August 13. We were there well after August 13 but perhaps 2/110 customers were wearing a mask in addition to the servers and employees. Aside from that oddity, we loved the restaurant. Unfortunately too late to consider this restaurant for a second try. Food was ok but not mouth watering as in my previous meals with this chef . Cattivella went through some changes in personnel as most restaurants have been impacted through the pandemic. We haven't been in awhile because we were waiting for things to come back up to par again. Recently I went gluten free and was very excited to see so many GF options on their menu. This review is specific to the GF options. 1. The charbroiled oysters were as always great, maybe a little too much cheese for the balance of the flavors but tasty! 2. Buffalo burrata, as someone who absolutely loves the original I was hopeful the GF option would hold and I think they've done the best they could with this. The base is more like a cracker or corn tortilla and is quite chewy and hard to chew at once. They also changed from fresh tomatoes to sun dried tomatoes, i prefer the fresh version. A good effort for GF but not quite a good translation for me. 3. Lamb Ragú GF option was FANTASTIC. So glad I got to try their GF pasta, a little heavier than normal pasta but truly that was the only difference I noticed. Ohhemmmgeee! This might be my new favorite restaurant in Denver (sorry vesta!). We started with the calamari which had a great crispy breading. Everyone at the table thought it was some of the best we'd ever had. For dinner I tried the risotto of the day - truffle mushroom risotto topped with a filet. It was amazing and a good portion. It had a nice Smokey flavor to it, and the risotto was perfect. My fiancé got the rabbit gnocchi which was also outstanding. The gnocchi were so decadent and soft! The meat had good flavor and the sauce wasn't too rich. Someone else in our party tried the 4 cheese pizza and shared a slice with us- it was also great, but I was partial to the pasta dishes since they were so well done. I'm such a fan on Elise Wiggins when she was at Panzano's but WOW at her restaurant Cattivella. I can see the chef has finally been cut loose to do her dishes without restriction. If you love grilled and wood fired food as much as well so, you'll love this place. And the amazing fresh ingredients. Everything paired and seasoned to enhance, making each morsel a delight for the tastebuds. I'll admit that we're ordered way too much because we wanted to try everything. The fresh burrata is flown in from Italy several times a week and served on wood fried flat bread with fresh basil. I was in heaven right there. And that was just the start. Pizza with rabbit, grilled oysters, crab legs and the trotter balls just melted in our mouths. I'm having a food orgasm just thinking about it all. And the atmosphere bright, energetic and loaded with fun. We were seated at the chef's table down by the pizza oven and enjoyed chatting with the sous chef all evening. Got takeout instead of dine in given the COVID related shutdown. Process was smooth. Food was still so delicious. We ordered two one-person set menus. We got: Tomato soup Roasted romaine The meaty pizza (carne something) The vegetarian pasta White wine Old fashioned And we added one a couple more charbroiled oysters Everything was so delicious! My favorite was the oyster. It wasn't as greasy as many others that I've had which I appreciated. The pasta looked pretty plain in the box but it was actually really tasty with many different layers of flavoring and texture. The pizza was super thin and again looked kind of sad in a box, but also super tasty. Each set menu was $21. Alcohol was $5 extra. And the oysters - they gave us happy hour prices so they were $3! Would definitely recommend and return. Should have gotten the dessert last time. Will do next time! read more

I'm gonna start by saying that I'm Italian. I was born and raised in Italy so I have high standards when it comes to Italian food and service. We've made dinner reservations for 2 at 6:30. Arrived right on time and we were told that they were hosting an event so our table wasn't ready but we could sit at the kitchen bar and get a free appetizer. Not ideal since we were on a date and we could barely talk due to how loud the kitchen personnel was, not to mention we were by the pizza oven so sweating b...s. Anyways, we ordered the fattoria piatto which arrived immediately, 10 minutes into it and they asked us to order our entrees. Placed our order and arrived within another 10 min while we're still eating our appetizer. Not sure about the rush but we felt like they didn't want us there. When I asked the waiter for recommendations he shrugged and said "can't recommend, everything is good sooo" well damn, ok! Sorry to bother. The Rabbit gnocchi were dry and bland, same as the chicken Valdostana. We've had to ask for Parmigiano to add some flavor. Normally bread is served at every Italian restaurant as soon as you seat but we've had to ask mid dinner and they charged us $2 extra. Weird. They didn't have any of the 2 Italian beers on their menu. Extremely overpriced for what you get. I guess I'll just keep cooking at home or going to Parisi when I want to eat out. We started off with grilled ceaser romaine, the homemade dressing is the best ceaser dressing I tasted.
