(Part 1) Working at Cattle Baron on Airway, this is an overall review of the restaurant, being a former employee, this is a good restaurant to work at if you want to make decent money. The reason I'm putting the review on yelp is because for whatever reason my review on indeed.com was censored. The pros about working here, you can make good money obviously, and the location is really good, next to the Airport, Fort Bliss, EPISD, a lot of business comes to this particular location. As a server you will have a 5 table section, and if you prove yourself to be a reliable strong server you'll move up to the better sections. When I worked their I was part-time and averaged about 4 to 500 a week, if you want to be full-time, you can possibly make 6 to 800 a week. The job can be stressful though, this is a smaller restaurant with some corporate bs. The training when you first start out is kind of weird. Actually in General the training sucks...just being honest...if you can get through it...I think you'll be ok. Before you get Hired you need to take the menu test. You get about 3 tries, but I recommend passing it on the first try. Next if you pass you start training, 3 follow shifts, 3 lead shifts, a bussing shift (weird), and a host shift...all part of training. If you get through all that you'll be fine. Now, onto things I didn't particularly like. As a server its mandatory you always inform your customers about the featured entrees, Always, this was probably some corporate idea back at the HQ in Rosewell, NM among the suit and tie crowd that cares more about numbers, than anything else. The problem is some people are just so dead set on either the Prime Rib...which is the best in town AND WHAT WERE KNOWN FOR if you ask me or the Salad Bar, some health nuts love the salad bar....its pretty damn good. So what happens and its actually only during lunch...particular managers will ask you "How many features you sell...AH AH... How Many features you sell?" and if you say one or none, they kind of get on your case. Why they ask? Well because there is a financial incentive involved for the managers if they sell a lot they get brownie points/money/ trips to Vegas from the Royalty. My personal opinion, if a guest wants Prime Rib over a feature who gives a damn, as long as the customer is happy that's all that matters, like I said it's a numbers game to them. Another thing I think is dumb and would save the restaurant money is, phasing out the secret shoppers, in this day and age with Yelp, you don't need it, or just print on the customers receipt to take an online survey of their experience at the restaurant, and it could be more reliable than one experience once a month from a secret shopper who for all we know just marinated in his/her own feces for three days and wasn't paying attention to how his/her dining experience was. read more

(Part 3)Other things they need to reconsider is this whole thing on servers running dish, literally every time we drop plates off at dish, the Management requires us to walk out with full hands...any other restaurant I've worked at the dish washers are responsible for replenishing plates, etc....the more time we spend in dish, is more time being taken away from being attentive to our guests, and their needs, which can sometimes translate into an unhappy customer/future negative review of the restaurant...which in turn can hurt sales...JUST SAYIN. Let's continue...Why not, The Hosts, the only issue there is during lunch specifically there is usually 2 hosts, but I think there should be 3, my reason being is because there should always be a host at the stand to greet customers PERIOD...while the other 2 hosts seat guests, why? because there have been times where I've literally seen customers wait almost 5 minutes at the stand when finally, a server sat them... This is only after Management sent the hosts home (I was off the clock eating by the way in case you're wondering). Here comes a curveball, working at Cattle Baron, is like working for the NSA, they have cameras everywhere, you're always being watched, even in the back station it's kind of weird to be honest, almost an invasion of privacy, but I understand it's for legal reasons. On the issue of cell phones, Management need to practice what they Preach. My Last complaint of all the steaks if you order the Filet Mignon don't order it higher than Medium, and the reason is because for whatever reason the cooks will put a weight on it to flatten it out, above medium your Filet turns into a hockey puck, I think the cooks need to stop doing that, because some customers are in shock when their Filet Mignon looks nothing like a Filet...Customers are paying good money 26 bucks for a Filet Mignon, and they expect a Filet not a hockey puck, and one more thing the meat cutter man I've watched him cut the filets and wrap the bacon around them, and some of those filets are too damn small and should not be sold...FYI. Overall it's a good restaurant to work at, Management is fair, they're just following orders from the Seat Sniffing Corporate Office, you can make good money here and the food is good. And there you have it...to anyone considering working at Cattle Baron, I worked their about 6 months then got fired, was my own fault, but hope this enlightens future employees. read more

Part 2) On the issue of bussers, a busser is their to help the server out and bus tables, for whatever reason Management has instilled in their brain that they only take glasses and small plates here and their, any other restaurant the busser will help clear off the entire table, and it would be very helpful when the restaurant is swamped and real busy, Note to Management, train the bussers to take more than glasses and small plates, they get a cut from our tips, just a FYI. Another random thing, again corporate probably made this rule while crunching numbers and smelling their own stool, and said "before a guest leaves, the bread board must be removed" your entire table could be bussed and if that bread board is on the table after the guest leaves, Management will get on you...dumb rule, should be changed. Sometimes when it gets real busy everyone is slammed some managers will walk by your section than say "AH AH Work on your pre bussing!"..seriously?!! It's not like were walking around with our hand up our ass. The problem is they need to understand from a servers perspective...we have a 5 table section....I'll give you a scenario why the Management can sometimes be ridiculous....We have 5 tables, its crazy busy, were responsible for all our tables every guest at every table needs something, Table 1 need refills on drinks and wants more bread, table 2 is ready to order , table 3 all want separate checks after originally saying they want everything on one check, table 4 all 5 people want coffee and desert ...all stuff we The Servers have to make ourselves, and table 5 ...server needs to put in their order, but wait Management has to swing by and say work on your pre bussing as you are completely in the weeds trying to stay on top of everything. Majority of the servers are all very strong and consistent with their guests, but instead of complaining to us about pre-bussing or bread boards on a table after guest leaves take a look around, were busting our butts off for you... making you money. read more

Expressing my disappointment regarding my visit to the Airway location in El Paso, Texas, on 2/8/2025 around 8 PM. As a former resident of El Paso, I have always enjoyed dining at this establishment, but my recent experience left me highly dissatisfied. Upon arrival, my party and I were greeted by a hostess whose attitude was less than welcoming. She seated us at a table without giving us an option, and when we requested a booth, she gave us an unpleasant look, making us feel as though we were an inconvenience. Additionally, later in the evening, she passed by my friend and almost knocked her over without an apology. Another concern was the salad bar. I was disappointed to learn that it is no longer included with the meal and now requires an additional charge of $4.95. While I understand price adjustments, the salad bar was poorly maintained, with dressing spilled across the area, cross-contamination of items, and a lack of proper upkeep. In the past, staff would regularly clean the station, but this was not the case during my visit. Furthermore, the selection seemed to have been reduced compared to what I remember, with missing fruit options and the large cheese blocks that used to be a highlight. Additionally, the quality of the meal itself was lacking. The bread served to us was not warm, and considering past experiences, this was unexpected. The overall reduction in portions, such as only receiving one side with a meal instead of two, despite the prices remaining the same or increasing, also felt like a downgrade in value. I believe in the importance of excellent customer service and maintaining the high standards the establishment was once known for. I hope these issues are address particularly the behavior of the hostess and the cleanliness of the salad bar, as these aspects significantly impact the dining experience. read more

I come here every time I'm in town. I don't know why. Force of habit, I guess. It might be the salad bar. It comes included with the purchase of a mediocre steak. That's not fair. The meat isn't too bad. Not great, so the price is appropriate. I had the rib eye. It was rare. I asked for medium rare. It was a bit bland. But better than over salty as is usual for steak. I came to town in business so I was alone this time. I sat at the bar where Mr Nacho served me a cold beer and hot bread. The bread was yummy. I would have gotten two but I was stuffed like a pig. I should have stopped at the salad bar but, no. I had to go all the way. I was flanked by old guys on both sides talking about what lonely old guys talk about...how they're so accomplished and complaining about their third wife, then leaving a cheap tip. I just st kept to myself, watching the game in TV. It was a nice change of pace from dinners with the kids. I missed them though. But I digress. The salad bar is the best part of this restaurant. The service is good. The this place out. You may find yourself returning for no reason other than you've come here before. read more

The Cattle Baron is honestly one of those hidden gems you almost don't want to tell people about because it's just that good. The atmosphere is pure country charm -- it feels like stepping into an old ranch house with all the rustic decorations and cozy touches everywhere you look. The salad bar is always fresh and loaded with good options, and the steaks are consistently amazing. Perfectly cooked every single time. That's something we really notice because a lot of steakhouses wow you once, then the second visit something feels off or the food just isn't the same. We've probably been here five times now, and it has been spot-on every single visit. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the whole place just has that comfortable, laid-back feeling that keeps you coming back. Definitely one of our favorite places to eat. read more

A very nice place to eat. My frnd and i go for our anniversaries. The salad bar is very good, but they could keep it a little more clean. My steak is always great. I wanted to try the lobster tail, but it was crazy expensive. Both times i went, the service was great. The first time i went the chef even came out to make sure our food was perfect. THATS GOOD SERVICE! BUT, if you plan to eat here, make sure you tip well! They deserve it! If you dont have money to tip, dont go out to eat...anywhere. Im definitely going back! read more

All the reviews are almost spot on. Good salad bar, actual food under par. Ordered the Prime Rib, supposedly their specialty. The bartender talked it up great and he gets an A+, however the food itself was subpar. Went a second time with a group of people, one ordered rotisserie chicken (undercooked), and the rest of the table was satisfied however no one is itching to visit again. Nacho was our server and he's great! The fresh bread was AMAZING! All the waiters are friendly and relaxed - not stiff and forced at all. I had the mozzarella sticks as appetizers and I was impressed! Very delicious. For my main course, I had the stuffed chicken rotisserie. Was there for my 3 year anniversary it was clean friendly and fast had salad bar that was amazing.my server was angel and if we go back well ask for her. I had barron club steak it was perfectly cooked my husband had Cajun chicken Alfredo was just the right size and the artichoke hearts were very complementary to the dish. Close by the airport and convenient. Food is good. Entrée was jalapeno rotisserie chicken with sauteed onions and mashed potatoes. Unseasoned, yet with great taste. Nice salad bar with some spicy ranch dressing that was GREAT... read more

Cattle Barron is my favorite restaurant. We go every Sunday afternoon. The philly cheese steak sandwich is amazing and the salad bar is pretty great as well. Excellent customer service and good prices! I recommend. read more

Average food, very nice place and affordable price too. . I would eat their again if I'm to stay at the radisson in el paso again.

Everything was great food and service wise but I would not recommend sitting at the bar and not because the service but the flies.
