Tried Cattle Baron on Airway a couple weeks ago because I saw their prime rib special and thought maybe this could be a holiday dinner option for the family. I went in hungry after a massage, ready to judge honestly, and... no. Just no. Service was sweet but slow, nothing to complain about. The real issue was the food. Everyone around me kept saying the same thing I was thinking: the salad bar is the best part. And honestly, that's not something you want to overhear in a steakhouse. I ordered my prime rib medium rare. What I got was rare in the wrong way. No seasoning crust, no browning, just a floppy cut with a thick tendon and a lot of fat and gristle. One of the worst cuts I've ever been served. Even the au jus couldn't save it. Mashed potatoes and bread were fine but bland. My husband's burger was just okay. Prices were normal for a steakhouse, but the quality didn't match at all. I left feeling queasy and very disappointed, especially since I was hoping to add this place to our holiday rotation. Service was fine. Decor was fine. The food was the problem. I can't recommend this location, especially if you're going for prime rib. If anyone in El Paso has a solid prime rib recommendation for the holidays, I'm listening. Cattle Baron 1700 Airway Blvd, El Paso, TX 79925

Had the prime rib--cooked spot-on, definitely the highlight. Caesar salad was good, always served on a chilled plate but this time around the portions that day seemed skimpy. Now, the sweet potato? I've seen larger hors d'oeuvres! Pic says it all. Overall, it got busy, but service kept up. I'd go again--but maybe skip the tiny sweet potato or at least take the servers offer of replacing it.

Came on Mother's Day and we were lucky to be seated right away as a party or 3! Their portions are the perfect size. I recommend getting the salad bar because they have so many salad items to choose from to customize your own salad. I love that they have lots of pasta salad options too.

I came here with a coworker while on a work trip and the food was good. I ordered the Filet mignon with the loaded mash potatoes and lemon garlic asparagus and it tasted well. My coworker got the prime rib and said it was good as well. We shared an appetizer of the bacon wrapped shrimp and liked that as well. Our waiter Adam was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. I can't say it was the best steak I ever had but it hit the spot. I felt like the price was about what you expect at a steakhouse. Overall a good experience for what El Paso has to offer.

First off our waiter was higher than a kite, we decided to try Cattle Baron as other reviewers said that it was just as good as Cattleman's, far from it.... The fideo was delicious as well as the salad bar, the Rangoon's were also very tasty but the rest was sub par and commercialized. The creamed horseradish was sweet and not very flavorful, the au jus was cold, asparagus needed more seasoning. The restaurant itself is beautiful, prices are reasonable but it was lack luster as a full experience.

The taste was awful. Food was not even fresh nor did it taste fresh.

Where do we begin? I was skeptical coming here based on the reviews but gave it a try anyways. Big mistake. First off, my waiter was amazing. I wish I remembered his name because he exemplified great service and was a highlight of the night. The decor reflects a mid western theme and was appropriate. It's spacious on the inside and we walked right in on a Friday night. The food was below average. The prime rib was awful and I cannot believe they served me the cut of prime rib they did. Refer to my picture to see what I'm talking about. It tasted awful. Shame on them for sending it out the kitchen. I told the waiter and he was kind about it. I asked to order a ribeye instead because I no longer had a desire to eat prime rib. The ribeye came out in less than 5 minutes and I knew it was not going to be good. I ordered a medium ribeye and it was undercooked. At that point, I was over it and just wanted to leave. The experience was utterly disappointing. The salad bar had several options and was decent but not returning to.

This spot is a great choice for lunch if you are short on time. The ample salad bar has loads of items and you probably will get full before your meal arrives. I opt for the salad only most times because it definitely is enough. Service is good and the ambiance is fun.

As we were seated our waiter took 10 min to great us and then another 12 min to bring our drinks. I didn't think anything of it yet it was a precursor to the rest of our dinner. After he took our order our kids food came out in a very timely fashion but our two orders of salmon and one steak sandwich took 40 min to arrive at the table. What a ridiculous waste of my time because my sandwich was missing the fries ordered and our waiter thought nothing of it till I brought it up then he took another 10 min to bring my fries. All this while simultaneously forgetting the sauce for the salmon which also took another 10 min to bring out. The salmon was so dry it was tacky and stuck to your teeth. If you know the feeling you know it's bad. The rice that came underneath the salmon was crunchy and way undercooked. All while the waiter was like oh I can bring you free deserts for your wait all while I could only think about how I just wanted to leave. I was internally livid and exhausted but kept it to my self after seeing the owner or manager who we the guy with the white hair over at the bar enjoying a few alcoholic beverages meanwhile his restaurants service and waitstaff to the worst possible job they can. I saw the people who got the most attention and good service were all regulars sitting at the bar laughing it up with the manager/owner older guy. Why not make sure your restaurant is running smoothly and food is being delivered and prepared properly and stop trying to impress the regulars who most likely will show up either way. Any restaurant that is this unorganized and unmotivated is due to crappy management. All this and the waiter is like I'll comp you for the steak sandwich with a discount for the bad service and salmon which was a whopping $5. I don't want a discount I don't want free day old desserts I want good service and decent food. Discounts and free desserts will never fix the problem because it will always be a crutch for trashy customer service. How about stop drinking with the guests and whoop that staff into semi decent shape buy some high chairs and make sure your expo does a once over quality check on the food and time it takes to get to the table EVEN if that means stepping in and doing it yourself. The restaurant is dark the tables are sticky the whole place is very compact . Perfect and quite attractive after 5-6 wines for sure. I'm sure the food is outstanding after a few drinks as well . They gave us a $25 dollar gift card to return which if I could I'd give to the owner so he could experience the same horrible food and service we did. I wouldn't even give the gift card to someone I hated. This was one of the first times in a long time I didn't just let it slide because I understand all restaurants and people have bad days but this was exceptionally bad. If you are thinking it can't be that bad think again it absolutely can. The whole "I'm sorry we usually have awesome service and everyone loves our food it's probably just me and my family " is laughable . This isn't my first time here while visiting El Paso. The food is getting worse.

The staff was incredibly accommodating, and our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and so helpful with recommendations. The wedge salad was the standout of the night, generously portioned, perfect for sharing, and absolutely delicious. The pesto spaghetti was equally impressive, with a beautifully balanced sauce that wasn't overpowering. I ordered the miso black cod, which was cooked perfectly and beautifully flaky. While it leaned a bit salty for my taste, the quality of the dish still stood out. The ambiance is dark and intimate, perfect for an upscale dinner, and the iPad menus were a helpful modern touch. She got our drink orders wrong and delivered them to the wrong guests. We had to play the matching game by sipping each other's drinks. And she never came by to refill. We had to ask. It took forever for us to order our food. And our food didn't get to us until almost an entire hour after ordering. Ummm that was horrible. We were sitting for almost two hours before food got to us. Two of our orders of steaks were ordered as medium-rare, and our steaks were dry AF. I told the waitress that we wanted a new steak, and she brought back the steak while flashing a flashlight over it to defend her cook, saying it is medium-rare and to look at it again. Never have I ever experienced a flashlight being used over our food to prove a non-valid point. At this point, I was so freakin hungry that I did not want to argue, and so I ate the dry steak. Do yourself a favor and take a drive to Victoria's Steakhouse. We were there a couple of days prior to visiting this restaurant and they have the perfect medium rare steak! Forget the table. The best seat in the house might just be at the bar…read more We settled in with Cruzita behind the bar--arguably the coolest name in the building. Cruzita translates to "Baby Cross," which somehow made an already great name even better. From the start, she was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. One of the best parts? You get the full menu at the bar, so you're not missing a thing. We started with the veal ravioli, which received the highly technical and thoroughly researched review of: "So f*ing good. So good though..." Honestly, no additional notes were needed. Then came the 8-ounce filet, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach. Everything was excellent. The filet was cooked perfectly, the sides were rich and flavorful, and those famous sizzling plates reminded us that patience is, in fact, a virtue. The portions won. We ended up packing up leftovers and taking dessert to go--a carrot cake and crème brûlée. I've had the carrot cake before and can confirm it's worth the hype. The fact that we were stuffed and still ordered dessert says everything you need to know. What really stood out, though, was the overall experience. The customer service was fantastic, the vibe was relaxed, and the atmosphere hit that sweet spot: lively enough to feel like you're out enjoying yourself, but not so loud that you're shouting across the bar. No awkward silence, no overwhelming noise--just comfortable. If you're headed to Ruth's Chris at The Fountains at Farah, don't overlook the bar. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and if you're lucky enough to land a seat with Cruzita--Baby Cross herself--you're already off to a great start.
