This review is solely based on COVID protocols, which were nonexistent yesterday at Cattle n' Clover. Not one staff member was wearing a mask properly. Most of the staff had no masks on and those that did had them dangling off their faces or did not have their noses covered. The bar was packed with people - no distance protocols in place. Outside was the same. If this is their practice FOH, I can't imagine what's happening BOH. If you're one of those people that think this virus doesn't exist, go here and have a blast. The food here on my recent visit was quite terrible. Thankfully, the mozzarella sticks were still ginormous (although quite bland), and the service is still top notch - except that they charged our friend a cover knowing that she was joining our 15+ table that arrived at 8:30pm. If it wasn't for our waitress Kaitlyn, I would have considered a 1-star review. She did everything she possibly could to help our table, even splitting the table into about 7 checks. My burger as well as a couple other burgers were on the greasy side. The steak fries (actually potato wedges) were way overcooked. Some of them were inedible. This might have to do with the fact that they were trying to bang out a 15-top, but I still think some quality control is in order. My friend ordered a cod and crab cake sandwich. Needless to say, it was mostly cod. For the price she paid, they could change the cod and crab cake sandwich into a full on crab cake. Other than that, there is still live music, sports on the TVs and an outside area to hang out if the weather is nice. This place has lots of potential and mostly good people, so I really hope they fix the issues with their kitchen. read more

Review based on first time visit, three patrons and one really bad meal. On a positive note, it's a good looking place with plentiful seating but...... ...it all went down hill quick. Sat at the bar, ordered a soda and it was less than carbonated. And because it wasn't actually a 'Coca Cola' or 'Pepsi', the lack of carbonation makes the 'fake' soda taste worse. So, I explained to the bartender that my soda was flat, so he immediately goes off to the other side of the bar shot another one into a glass. That too was flat. So I tell him, but without trying to sound like a picky sh*t, I said, "I hate to be a pain, man, but it's still flat." And he tells me, "I wouldn't know, I don't drink soda." and walks away! lol.....I'm laughing now, but I was actually angered. I immediately thought to myself, "Im not asking you, ding dong." So I tell the other bartender that their cola is flat and he says, "oh, I'll have someone check downstairs", but I swear, he did nothing! At this point I wanted to leave, but I was there a couple friends who insisted I 'let it go' and 'relax.' Well, I tried, even busting some jokes to pass the time. Next, it was time to order our meals. But it gets crazier-the bartender listens to my order, and without a work, turned and walk away, all the way to the other side of the bar to input the order. Then after a few minutes, he comes back to take the other orders, one at a time! He does this with all three of our orders. Talk about inefficiency. Lets talk about my food. I ordered the "CNC bbq salmon over basmati rice, served with a baked potato and sautéed kale with garlic" but yet I only receive two of the three items. I posted a photo so that you can see for yourselves what I mean. No baked potato and no kale. Of course, I tell the bar tender, who nicely apologizes and goes back to his register to order the baked potato. Wait till you see that photo, it's a mini potato -lol And yes, I only mentioned the potato to the man, because I actually felt like a jerk if I asked him why there's 'carrots smothered in mustard sauce on my plate, instead of kale?' $30 dollars out the door and I was still hungry, simply because it was such a crap experience with staggered service and not great food. My other buddies had better luck with their choices but agreed that their meals weren't great either. The semi-redeeming moment was when we were paying and the bartender made a joke about the 'over cooked, shrunken potato' and slipped us all a 'courtesy pint coupon' for our next visit. He also didn't charge me for the soda. We appreciated the courtesy. We'll likely never eat there again, as we all live 3+ hours away. But maybe one day we'll try happy hour.....if we ever down to the Wildwoods. read more

As you can tell by my previous reviews we used to love Cattle 'n Clover, but we don't know what happened. For one we noticed the menu changed. My previous reviews I raved about the Grilled Mahi, the Gaelic fish stew, the fried olives, and the wild mushroom app. None of them were on the menu. My wife wanted their wings which another friend of ours raved about during a previous meal. It was the whole wing, now they just serve drums only, which she hates. Needless to say we didn't order anything as nothing on the menu seemed that appealing. I also thought the help wasn't as friendly as it used to be. This was our first time here and we were not really sure what to expect but we found it to be fantastic way to close out our family vacation in Wildwood. The staff and management went way above what you would expect especially under the current circumstances. The food was perfectly prepared and the quality was second to none. You could fill up on the appetizers alone. We ordered the wings "just drums" and they were enormous. There were a lot of us so we got 2 orders. One hot and one garlic parmesan. Both had just the right amount of of sauce on them and each came on a bed of mashed potatoes. Next were the housemade mozzarella sticks. Again enormous chunks of fresh mozzarella and perfectly battered and fried. Not overly greasy and just the right amount of crunch. And the final appetizer was the pub made fried pickles. Great size and also perfectly seasoned and fried. My dinner was the 12oz strip steak. Cooked to perfection and came with 2 sides. I chose the mashed potatoes because they were so good under the wing appetizer and also had the creamed spinach. Others at out table had everything from salads, burgers and chicken fingers. Believe me when I tell you no one left disappointed or hungry. A few of them even took their leftovers back to the hotel which is unheard of for us but the food was that good. When in Wildwood you need to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

We came here while on vacation and we got a decent meal. Cattle 'n Clover is a historic establishment where Bruce Willis bartended and Chubby Checker played. We learned this from our waiter. He was nice and attentive enough, but there was just no connection to him personally. It felt like we got the same spiel as everybody else who came in. Then, after ordering, he had to come back to inform us that the gluten free pasta wasn't available, which was disappointing, as it was the primary reason for coming to the restaurant. The short rib ragu was actually tasty, but the experience was not nearly what it should've been for the cost. As a comparison, our bill was roughly the same at Cattle 'n Clover and Capriccio, a hallmark Atlantic City culinary establishment. I wouldn't return. read more

Fantastic! We went on st paddys day and it wasn't crazy mobbed. We got a nice seat at the bar. They had a rotating staff of 6 (SIX!) bartenders and 3 waitresses. Not a single person had to wait more than a minute for their drinks. Drinks were good and strong and well priced, especially for a holiday. The band was great. I wish the mens room had more urinals but that's my only complaint. read more

This pub is amazing! Great atmosphere and great food! ESPECIALLY THE MOZZARELLA STICKS! Those were the best mott sticks I ever had! And our server Sean was really cool! It was ok but honestly I was disappointed. It was basic pub fare and the menu was different than it was online so what we wanted to order wasn't what we ended up ordering. Ended up getting the Shepards Pie which was pretty good but hot stew is not exactly what you want on a hot summers day. I would have ordered the filet but was surprised when the $32 filet on the website was now $44 in the restaurant. I had a feeling that the filet probably wouldn't be worth it based on the restaurant (mainly bar with a restaurant in it, could smell the spilled beer that had been cleaned up from the previous good times) and I could be wrong but I'm glad I trusted my gut. My husband was looking forward to the short ribs entrees but they were no longer on the menu. If you want to grab a drink and some bar food this is the place but it's not really a "steak house" as it stated on the website. I think inflation and other issues have hit this restaurant but they really should update the website. Seems like it would be fun on a weekend night if you're looking for live music and it was family friendly with a kid menu (was told for 9 and under). read more

I loved how the breading was the perfect crunch and the inside was hot and soft. Then we both had the 12 ounce steak and it was amazing and perfectly cooked. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I got the Shepard's Pie, which I tend to sample at any Irish restaurant. It was tasty, but not the best. Better than the Angelsea Pub's, but Westy's is pretty good. Would have liked more meat and veggies. The corned beef and cabbage eggrolls were different, but need more cabbage.in them to keep the beef from drying out. Reminder, this is coming from drinking and eating there off-season (late September). Went there for a nightcap after dinner at another location. The outside bar was open, so that is where we drank. The place had a good crowed due the the Wildwood Irish festival, that held earlier in day. They had a live band and the drinks were flowing (our bartenders were on top of their game), which a bunch flowed down my throat. The next evening went there for dinning. I had dinner at Cattle n Clover over the weekend with a group of friends. The first thing that we noticed that there wasn't much of a wait to be seated which down the shore can be an issue at times. Once seated we were greeted by a very very friendly waiter who explained the menu and some of their specialty drinks very well. Because of the waiter I tried their pineapple and vodka drink that was very delicious, it was a blend of vodka infused pineapple it was very smooth and made with Stoli vodka so it was easy to drink. For dinner I had the hanger steak and potato wedges, this meal was great. The steak had a sauce that came with it that I couldn't get enough of and the potato wedges were very well done and well seasoned. Overall our meals were great we got great service. I'd highly recommend anyone spending time down in Wildwood stop by Cattle n Clover for dinner. read more

The potatoes were under cooked and the sausage inside the tort didn't have a good taste to me. We had the wings and mac and cheese and those were excellent. First time here. Place looks nice. Music was good and volume was perfect as it was loud enough to feel the rhythm. My friend and I ordered a pint of Guinness. The bartender served us pretty quickly and was polite but nothing to makes us feel at home. You should always let a Guinness rest a bit after pouring it, before serving it but he poured and served right away. Also, it was a bit too warm (should be served at 38 degrees Fahrenheit/3 degrees Celsius). And then"pint" he served us was a smaller version of a regular pint. Stopped here during the polar bear plunge weekend in January. I expected it to be much more crowded considering it was winter and not many places were open for the crowd the plunge pulls in. Regardless, I enjoyed my time here. There might have been four other patrons there while we stopped in but I prefer that over a large crowd. Bartender was nice. Drinks were decently priced. The owner or manager (not sure which or if both) sat at the bar and worked on paperwork. He was super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him. Dinner was EXCELLENT. I love the Shepherds Pie and Highly recommend. The 6oz steak that my granddaughter had was wonderful as well, she also liked the Mac & Cheese which she shared with me. The restaurant has a wonderful Irish feel to it. Not quite pub like but the feeling is definitely there. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside. I liked the pool tables and live music on Saturday night. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant if your looking to eat off of the boardwalk. It is on our list for dinner out when we make our next trip to Wildwood NJ. They had a wonderful coupon offer on Social Living we took advantage of. What a huge disappointment! The food looks really good but besides that was not very tasty. Yes the mozzarella sticks are huge but they are so bland and have no taste at all. Comes with the worst marina sauce I ever had. The so called wings where not good at all served on top of cold mashed potatoes. The so called fries where like bland potato skins. The service was not that great. The beer also was not cold enough. I so wanted this place to be good too. But I will never go back, just like the Mexican place across from it.
