If you've never had Cava, it's a Chipotle/Subway like restaurant, Mediterranean style (and much healthier). So you walk down a line, viewing food selections, and tell the employee what you want on your dish. Selections include greens, grains, proteins, dips, toppings and dressings. You can go bowl style or wrap style. It's even relatively safe for a picky eater. Even though it's Mediterranean, you can get very simple selections (like just a pita with meat), and it's not like everything has olives and eggplant. What I love about Cava is you can get a truly healthy AND satisfying meal. I always have the super greens in my dish, which is a blend of actual healthy greens (like shaved brussels), and not just a lettuce blend. I shouldn't have to eat a lettuce salad if I want to be healthy! Lettuce is not satisfying. My only complaint is I wish they trained and enforced consistency in the food servings. You can order the same exact thing, and one time it's a huge overflowing bowl and the next it's barely half full. Tip, you can get half and half of any of the "proteins". I usually get half chicken, half vegetables. I haven't researched the ingredients, but it seems like they try to always have some locally grown/raised items. It also seems like they try to stick with only natural ingredients. I'm excited to see this chain growing. It's kind of hard not to love a Chipotle-like concept restaurant that serves killer salads and fresh juices, along with natural sodas for those who need that sugar fix. I've come to this location twice and the one in Merrifield once. I've had the falafel, the lamb, and the chicken as proteins and they are all great. Love the harissa and babaganoush as well. The mixed greens of broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale and lettuce are my fave; talk about getting a daily serving of veggies in one feel swoop! The only "negatives" have had at this location are on my first visit, I asked for dressing on the side, she agreed and then out the dressing directly on. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't like this place because I'm a snob and anti-chain but....it was really, really good! As is so popular currently, the concept is fast casual, and it reminds me quite a bit of sweetgreen - on the healthier end of the spectrum with a focus on vegetables and cleaner eating. First, you choose salad, a grain bowl or pita sandwich. Next you top it with your choice of two dips: tzatziki, two varieties of hummus, harissa, crazy feta, or eggplant. Following that is protein: falafel, chicken, meatballs, lamb, beef, or roasted vegetables. Lastly, there's a whole slew of toppings: mint, lemon, tomato salad, cucumber, cheese, pickled onions, cauliflower, slaw, pita crisps, and more. Oh, and then you add your dressing: Srirachi Greek yogurt, spicy leek, yogurt dill, Greek vinaigrette, lemon herb tahini, and green harissa. There are a few sides: chips, a dip sampler with pita, soup, and dessert. They offer some interesting drinks such as Spindrift and seasonal juices (which all sounded delicious). I opted for a salad with chicken, roasted vegetables, tzatziki, crazy feta, mint, tomato salad, cucumber, pickled onions, and cauliflower (and pretty much any other vegetable topping options). I think I topped it with the green harissa. It was delicious, and so so filling. It was pretty spicy (either the harissa or feta), but not overly so. I also ordered a ginger carrot soup which I wasn't able to eat at the time because I was stuffed, but it made great (and tasty) leftovers. Prices are reasonable at just under $10 an entrée. Service was fine, not overly friendly, but I was there during the lunchtime rush, and they were very quick. The interior of the restaurant is just as you'd expect: very modern, white, lots of metal accents and big, bright windows. It was almost full, but the weather was gorgeous and my group ate outside next to a lovely trellis. If I lived in Ashburn I'd definitely return. I have to update this review when I come back on a regular day, but I came here for their grand opening Community Day today. It is a tradition for Cava to give out free entrees during their first day. It was packed, as expected, but 4 star shout-out to the staff and workers there. They all were great, and were pleasant. I'm glad they gave out small menus to everyone in line in attempt to expedite the ordering process. For now, the 4 stars is for keeping the cava tradition alive and the good quality staff. An older man helping around the drink station was particularly helpful, and went out of his way to get my bf and I caps for our drinks when he noticed they ran out. Shoutout even to the staff that greeted us goodbye when we left, and joked "you made it!". I hope everyone donated a little something to help the good cause out. Food was good quality, and I hope it doesn't decline as they settle in. read more

I ordered what I would call a gyro, sorry to everyone I just offended, with the spicy lamb meat. It had great flavor and I enjoyed being able to customize the toppings. The garlic sauce was awesome. Then there was my pregnant wife's order. She got pretty much the same thing, but as a salad. One of her meatballs was raw, see photo. Not a pleasant experience, because it made us doubt all the food. Instead of honoring their word they literally opened my bowl took the lamb out and put chicken in instead. The guy helping me was cool and one of the ladies was nice but the shift manager (I assume) was rude and just an unpleasant woman. Customer service retraining for management is definitely needed at this location. Also their portions are poor. read more

Chose to eat here for lunch while shopping at the mall. I will always go for Mediterranean if it's an option. I was not disappointed. This chain was slightly similar to Sajj Mediterranean in Palo alto,CA. Which has the same concept of ordering, with slightly different choices in toppings. I love how you get to choose what you want and the price stays the same. unless you get the premium toppings which I usually don't. The serving size was generous. I got the grain and greens bowl with meatballs since I was sharing with my daughter. I topped it off with kalamata olives, tomato and cucumbers, pickled onions, feta, and banana peppers. also got the hummus, tzaziki and eggplant dip with Greek dresssing over everything . yummy! oh and a pita on the side. the pita left a lot to be desired. after having been in Israel where you can get pita fresh out of the oven. it's so soft and fresh, the pita here seems old and stale? I'm for sure not getting a pita sandwich here. also I love falafel, but the falafel here looked dark and I'm not sure what it was seasoned with but I am hesitant to try it. it was nothing I am used to seeing. The drink options looked amazing and delicious, but I'll have to save that for another visit. seems as though they are seasonal and made fresh daily. so when I go back, the choices may be different. what caught my eye was the carrot ginger lemonade. The food here is great. Basically think of a chipotle style place except with Mediterranean food. I loved the bowl I created! The fresh waters are also great. The only reason this place gets 5 stars versus 4 is because they lack in customer service. I had a few questions about toppings and they didn't seem to happy to help. I love this place!!! First time in a ling time I was bale to able to walk in and place my order! There was one person in front of me, which is a complete contrast to the line wrapped around the outer perimeter of the restaurant! Everything on the bar was hot, clean and fresh! All the additional toppings were filled to the rim! I like that the staff personable and engaging. All in all, I have no complaints. This location consistently has issues. It had a very shaky opening, started to get better and more delicious like the other Cavas, and then BAM! on my most recent visit a couple weeks ago it took a major nosedive. RAW MEAT. Not just rare, not just undercooked, but fully gooey and pink and RAW inside the lamb meatballs. I thought I was going to puke after I noticed it, having already swallowed half a meatball before looking down more closely when I thought it had a funny taste. I took it back up and showed one of the workers. She didn't speak any English and waved over another man who worked there. This process took a few minutes, during which they continued serving out of the same tin of meat. I know some people in line in front of me had ordered the meatballs. I'm not sure how many people ate raw meat without ever noticing perhaps because of all the sauces and toppings that get piled on at Cava. When finally the worker who spoke English came to talk to me, he had a look of panic in his eyes. He immediately pulled the meat off the line and offered to make me a new bowl. I declined and just asked for a contained of chicken, which was thoroughly cooked, and I put that in my bowl and removed the raw meat. I never saw the staff go around to anyone else in the restaurant to check on or warn them to see if they also had gotten the meatballs. But it was clear after the employee cut open some meatballs in the serving tin that the entire batch was raw, not just my meatballs. One would think it'd be worth having a process in place to cut into the meat once in awhile to check such things, or perhaps just use a standard cooking time for each type of meat so this doesn't happen. I'm kind of afraid to go back to this location. read more

My new favorite. As a vegetarian going on 2 years, I have a very limited selection of eat out options. I can eat the fries and smart salad at Chik. After doing whole 30, I've decided to remove most carbs also. Cava has a greens and grains option that I can order with fake rice and tons of great nutritious options. I'm glad my first experience was online b/c it took me a while to figure out my options. I tried Harissa which was just the right amount of spice. All the ingredients were fresh and portion size was huge. I ate it all but next time I'm going to divide an order in half. Lots of flavor. BUT! today made me almost cry but food was good though. tips: -don't close peoples lids without gloves!! -wear a name tag -don't assume people don't speak your language my dad was made fun of because this guy without a name tag, thought we didn't speak Spanish, but we do. Amazing food, ordered online with the app and I'm part of the rewards program, definitely a new favorite in the Ashburn area and if you're visiting you have to stop by!!! The restaurant was very clean and the house sodas are definitely unique. Took my boyfriend for his first time, he was very satisfied and wanted to try the same thing next time with different ingredients. He had the grilled meatballs and they were a little rare in the middle which was delicious. The chef definitely knows what he's doing. We sat at the bar at the window, but we wanted a booth. I am so happy they finally open location in Loudoun, this is #1 choice for lunch. And they add lentils to the menu !!! :) I am loving everything about the concept, food, flexibility and atmosphere. Keep counting my calories and getting meals around 400 calories full of nutritions. Usual choses are super greens, spinach, 2 scoops of hummus and scoop of eggplant dip, chicken or braised lamb, sour cabbage, cucumber salad. No dressing. They mastered Mediterranean flavors, so no matter what you mixed their it's all come together in your plate. read more

This was all around fantastic. Lots of options and all of the people there were helpful by telling me how many of each thing I could have. I highly recommend bringing up the little menus they have hat list whatever they have, in order which is helpful because many of the toppings aren't labeled. I got brown rice as my base, you can pick between that, a salad or pitas. I chose roasted red pepper hummus, tzatziki sauce and crazy feta as my 3 dips. All were great. The feta was actually a little bit spicy though as it is infused with jalapeños. I got grilled chicken as my meat. My girlfriend got lamb meatballs and I tried one of those, which were very tasty. As far as the toppings go, I got just about everything. I asked for extra feta for no charge. For the sauce I got sriracha Greek yogurt, which was good. The pita and hummus were yummy as well. Clearly it is a bit of different food, but I'm not sure how anyone could ever think about going to chipotle a few doors down after experiencing cava. I would definitely go back. So I have been patiently waiting for Cava to open ever since I heard that it was going to open in the Whole Foods shopping center. This location has an outdoor seating area and a fire pit as well which is a bonus. Cava is a locally owned restaurant that has locations in the DC Metro area currently. Cava has the same type of concept as Chipolte, but with a Mediterranean flair. You build your own meal. You can choose from a salad, rice bowl or pita. Then you get to add your spread/sauces- with choices such as hummus, roasted red pepper hummus tzatziki sauce, and harrissa. Next come your protein- meats, meatballs, falafel. I personally recommend the meatballs. They are amazing! Lastly there are a ton of toppings to add! The beverages are not your typical Coca-cola or Pepsi products. Instead they are root beverages and juices! All are very good. I think we got to there at a pretty busy time as the line was long and took a few minutes to get through it. However, I also think that with Cava being in a new area and some folks who have never ordered their food before may not know what all the choices are and that may have added a little extra time. I predict Cava to be very popular and packed all the time since it seems their other locations are packed all the time. So expect to wait in line....unless you are lucky. I love Cava and noticed they will be opening Chipolte in the same shopping center. It will be a hard pick between two of my favorites! Now if only Ashburn would get a Shophouse (Chipotle w/ Asian flavors) I would be one very happy girl! read more

Just experienced the worst customer services from this Belmont Chase CAVA location and from a manager. Very unbelievable and unhealthy during this COVID-19 time. Moreover, he refused to give me his name and was very rude. You can't treat customers like this and leave food and utensils exposed for infection by leaving order out in pick up stand or bring to car for a curbside pick up not in a bag and exposed entirely Covid-19 infection. The rude manager was telling me that I should have asked for bag when making the order. Are you serious? He never even offered to at least replace fork he had on top of bowl and place order in bag.
