Cava is the fast casual restaurant I didn't know I needed in my life! This is pretty much a Mediterranean Chipotle. But the concept works so well. Select your item (bowl, pita, salad), then pick a few spreads, then a protein, add-on veggies and feta, and finally a sauce. I got a wrap with meatballs, feta, feta spread, tzatziki spread, feta, roasted corn, and a few other things. My partner got the honey harissa chicken bowl with many of the same items. Both were outstanding. Everyone who works here is super friendly. Hope they're able to move the line a little faster, but even at the current speed, it's totally worth it. I've heard so much about this place from my friends and when I finally got to try it, I can confirm that it definitely does live up to the hype. It's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle where you just go down the line and tell them what you want, starting with the base, protein, toppings, sauce, etc. Be aware that the parking lot is pretty small, but you can also park on the street around and walk over. There's plenty of seating inside too. It's a great quick and casual place to dine in or grab-and-go. I built my own bowl, which I liked because I got to choose whatever I wanted into my bowl. They also have their pre-set bowls too. Everything here tasted so fresh. The proteins that I got were the falafel and grilled meatballs. They were so good and I would definitely get again. Some of the meat options they have do charge extra, so be aware of that! The sauce that I got was greek vinaigrette, which I had never tried before, but it was really delicious. My boyfriend tried the yogurt dill and recommends it. I will definitely be coming back because the flavors were all so good, and you don't feel gross or disgusting after eating here. read more

1st time trying this place and it was spectacular! Although it was pretty busy, the line went quick to make our bowls! The lady was also super helpful and patient at the beginning when we told her it was our first time. My fiancé and I both made our own bowls (Vs choosing an already set bowl)-- was glad to see they had a rightrice option (rice made of veggies) and that you can customize your green, protein, dip/spread, toppings and dressing. Each step along the way they have a sticker to show options and how many of each you can get (plus add on fees). When this place says spicy (harissa especially), it actually means spicy which I love!! The bowl is also a pretty big portion which was super filling. Their drink options aside from the sodas are also super delicious to try. The parking can get a bit rough since there are many other places around there but people are always coming and going. I really enjoyed my experience at Cava! This is a "make your bowl" type of place with Mediterranean-inspired foods, but they also have pre-designated bowls for those who don't want to pick/choose themselves. I really enjoyed the food; there are plenty of options and only $11 a bowl! I particularly loved the various toppings that they have, which are unlimited -- from pickled veggies/pickles to fresh tomato/cucumber salads and all different kinds of fresh vegetables. What really made me enjoy my experience here though was the staff. It was my first time, and the staff went out of her way to help me make just the right bowl. She gave plenty of suggestions without prompting and described the different flavors/toppings as well. She was really patient, which I was very grateful for. This is basically a Mediterranean chipotle. We both ordered bowls but built our own. I opted for a saffron basmati rice bowl and did half shredded lamb and half harissa hot chicken. I added a bunch of extra toppings, but I had a few that I loved and a couple that I didn't. I loved the red pepper hummus and the fresh tomatoes-def gave it some acidity and broke up the heaviness of the lamb. The shredded lamb wasn't my favorite. I got an extra chunks of fat in mine and they charge you extra for it so I didn't think it was worth the money. The crazy feta I enjoyed. I'd pick that over the tzatziki sauce. The hot harissa chicken was good so I would recommend that! Overall, if you're in the area and looking for a quick lunch, give them a try. It's not the best, but it does the job. read more

We are OBSESSED! Have been a handful of times since they recently opened and this will definitely be a place we frequent. The food is fresh and you can make your meal as heavy or as light as you want. Think of it like a Mediterranean Chipotle - you start with either a bowl or a pita, and if it's a bowl, you start with rice or lentils, greens, or a mix. You then get to pick 3 of their 6 spreads, add a protein, then finish it off with your selection from a plethora of toppings and sauces. They also have suggested combinations if you don't want to build your own. My wife keeps getting the crispy falafel pita and I make my own bowl - we both are hesitant to switch it up because we like what we order too much. I'm so so excited we finally got a CAVA in The Heights! The food is fresh, healthy, and most importantly- delicious. I love getting a grain bowl and topping it with spicy lamb meatballs and a million of their free toppings. My absolute favorite toppings are the pickled cabbage and tomato/onion mix, but honesty they're all great. They have a variety of sauces/dressings too- so whether you like spicy harissa or a cool garlic sauce, they'll have what you're looking for. I honestly have no idea what the hype is with this restaurant. It's just a Mediterranean chipotle. The only difference is that the staff is less accommodating here than at chipotle. The ambiance is ok with a very basic layout, but I wouldn't feel comfortable eating inside because of the 10-15 people standing around looking very upset that their food is taking so long because they ordered online. The food is alright. I got the chicken harissa avocado bowl and it was ok, but lacked any memorable flavors. I added some corn and pickles with some yogurt sauce and it was not great but I would eat it again 6/10. As for the staff, they weren't very helpful with any questions and seemed annoyed to be there. This was mainly the guy behind the register. You better not ask if they accept cash here apparently or ask any questions even though it's your first time here. The other issue is they seem entirely unable to handle the dinner rush crowd, either stop taking online orders or hire more people, but either way you need to get your house in order. Overall would have been 3 stars, but they got docked one for the customer service. I would go to salata or chipotle. read more

YUM! This place is so good. The staff was super helpful in helping me decide what to get in my bowl. I got the saffron rice bowl with falafel and greens. It tasted really good and the falafel especially was amazing! Portion size was decent. I'm deducting a star because the rice to greens ration was not the best (not enough rice). Also, they only gave 4 pieces of falafel but since you're not getting actual meat for protein, I feel like they should've at least given 5 pieces considering the falafel wasn't that big. I also got the cucumber mint drink and that was just okay, I wasn't the biggest fan. Overall the food was really good and I'll probably be back (I'll try the woodlands location next)! read more

Absolutely awful. The "crunchy" falafel wrap is a wet soggy mess without any eggplant t and does t resemble their menu representation *at all*!! It was so hard to eat, literally dripped everywhere. The falafel was terrible with whole chickpeas inside (see close up). Just awful. And they charge $3.75 for a side of "crazy" feta..it's literally - literally!!- a tablespoon!!! The blondie was so small for $2.75 and it just had no flavor - pure sugar. So disappointed that this is what's moved in across from the Houston Med center. My two kids have been eating at the nearby Cava Washington and the 20th Street locations for some time, so I gave it a try for lunch and was not disappointed. It lived up to their hype. To anyone that doesn't know the beauty and amazingness that is Cava, I tell everyone this is the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. There are always huge portions and I am in love with all their toppings that it's always so hard to decide. The red pepper hummus, harissa honey chicken, and fire-roasted corn are literally 3 of the greatest creations known to man. Definitely one of my go-to places for a quick and hearty lunch. I always compare this to Sweet Green in terms of satisfaction. It's pretty similar but I do come here more often when I come to the heights when I crave a Mediterranean hit. I ALWAYS get the baba ganoush(?). Though I was a little disappointed my beloved Zoe's is gone, im okay with Cava being its replacement. I've been twice three days.
