Food looks and tastes like dog food and one of employees actually said it looks like dog food when I returned the food. Every time we have ordered to go there is always something wrong. Cava is a fantastic place to eat and has very fresh ingredients. However, the employees are slacking and they are always short staffed whenever I go into this location. Additionally, they now make you ask for a free side pita. The whole point is that it's free; it's included in the meal price. When I first started going to Cava, they would ask you if you wanted one, and now, they have flipped the script. WHY? Give us our free side pitas!! I ordered on the app a few days ago and they didn't include the free side pita I requested. I had to ask them for it. Cava, stop trying to scam customers to make yourself a few extra bucks; earn your money like the rest of society. You've played these games far too long and we've figured out your little tricks. We're all paying $15-20 for a bowl so that you can earn a higher wage. Have some more self respect and be more respectful to your customers, and please give us our free side pitas. Also, please do not skimp on your portions like Chipotle. We're paying $15-20, it better exceed expectations and be a lot of food! read more

I love Cava but this location is the worst! The employees are always unhappy and not helpful. The employees were talking to each other and there were multiple people in line behind me waiting to order. Every time I go, no matter what time of day, they are always out of toppings, meats and sauces...how is it possible they don't have enough food to serve their customers?! I asked why they don't have the toppings and sauces that I want and the employee said "If we make too much...we have to throw it in the trash so we would be wasting food and not making money..." The assembly line was so dirt and there were flies everywhere. The owner and manager need to make some changes ASAP. It's a bummer because I truly love CAVAs food! The concept of CAVA is excellent. The product/service is disgusting. This location in Laguna Niguel has some of the more rude, condescending, unfriendly workers you will find in ANY business. They do not greet you, when you order they do not acknowledge your existence, they have scowls on their faces, and they try their best to make you feel like an idiot if you ask them ANYTHING about what you may want in your bowl. I'm assuming these same employees are the reason numerous items are "out" EVERY SINGLE VISIT. The protein choices are something that is hit/miss. One day the chicken will be somewhat edible, the next time it is filled with inedible fat/grissle. The steak is similar to eating a tire. The only thing they cannot ruin is the roasted vegetables and of course they are out of those. I'm done with this place. I really wish I could give a better rating. I love the food at other locations but here it's always so so. They're constantly out of toppings and meats even around lunch time. The couple times I've been here there are tons of flies milling around. Some of the workers are not very helpful and seem very unhappy to work. Cava is delicious and amazing as usual! The only thing that was missing was that their team was COMPLETELY UNDERSTAFFED and it seemed super unfair to the employees working there. Couper, Danielle, Mario, and Julian did a fantastic job holding the place down and still gave their absolute BEST service they could while the line was all the way out there door and more people continued to pile in. This is unbelievable to me, the pure negligence of the kitchen staff is just beyond my understanding. I've been a cook for 12 years so I don't understand how you can miss this. First of all, the bowl came looking mixed, not at all like the photo, I had just searched through it a bit to find the dressing and dips which were not there. It came completely dry. I ordered it with tzatziki, hummus, crazy feta dip, garlic dressing and zhoug. Not a single one of those things were on the bowl. How do you miss that?!?!? That's literally the whole reason why I ordered from cava because I was craving Mediterranean food dips and sauces. I'm so disappointed. I came in tonight around 9:00 pm, so an hour before they are closing. I ordered my usual bowl but they were out of one of the proteins I typically get. It wasn't a big deal to me, I just substituted it for something else. When I'm getting ready to check out the lady (who I found out was the manager) said my bowl was on the house because they were out of the protein I originally wanted. It was so nice of them to take care of my meal. They don't accept tips but I left something small for the other workers. I hope they got it. Thank you for the outstanding service! read more

I'd never been to a Cava before, even though I've seen them around. When this one opened right across from the vet's we go to, I figured it was time to investigate it. Checking online, it seemed to be like a Chipotle , but Mediterranean cuisine, which we both love. Last night, I created a Cava account and ordered food to pickup. Website told me to come at 5:45, which I did. The Pickup shelf had nothing on it, so I waited for a bit. Another customer came and also awaited their food. After about 10 minutes of standing there, I walked up and asked the person at the register about my order. He barely replied, asking for my last name, I had to spell it for him 3 times before it stuck. He just ducked his head around the corner where they set up delivery orders, and said "It's coming." After another 15 minutes, I asked again about my order. A different person told me that they were out of meat, but were making more. My order was for a Greek salad w/ chicken, a Harrissa Chicken Salad, and a Lamb Meatball pita wrap. Meanwhile, with this alleged meat shortage, the line of ppl ordering are still getting their food, even though my order had been in now for 30 minutes sooner than any of them. Another customer came in in the meantime for her pickup order. At the 45 minute mark, I called over this 2nd person and asked what exactly could possibly taking this long? She told me that the lamb meatballs were taking longer than expected. At that point I said, can you please change my sandwich order to a Falafel wrap so I can go home? She said of course, and she communicated the change to the order prepper. I asked her what about the $4 dollar difference between the lamb and falafel versions. I just asked if she could toss in an extra side or something to make it faster,versus trying to reopen my ticket for a partial refund. Finally 53 minutes after walking in there, I left with my order. We live literally 5 minutes away, so I scurried home with my empty growling stomach. I wish I could say the food was worth the wait, but it sadly wasn't. Both salads were overdressed into two sopping lumps of...salad. My wife could only take 2 bites, and same for me. They included some baked pita slices drenched in salt, which were inedible. They actually burned your mouth with the amount of salt on them. The salads also were super super salty. The crowning glory was my Falafel pita, which looked more like a wet burrito (see pic). The Falafel balls were completely raw inside, and again overdressed with sauces, I needed a lobster bib to try and wrangle it. I gave up after two bites, couldn't take any more. And all this for only $47.00. I'd give them the benefit of doubt seeing as they recently opened, but I doubt I'll ever think about going back again to find out if they've gotten better over time. Got up to the front and the place was a mess like a bus full of kindergartner's went to town. So dirty and sloppy with everything mixed into the bin next to it. The insane part was only two people were there so I don't understand why it was in such an unsanitary condition. I went next door to Mendocino Farms and the food is outstanding. Woof is it just me or has cava gotten more expensive with less portions? Came in to order a bowl & they attempted to serve me old rice? I asked them instead of trying to chip out the old stuff to serve me if I could get some new rice or something else... was met with confusion. Skimpy portions on everything and after asking for the braised lamb I was left with a bill for $17 dollars!?!? Jesus I thought chipotle was bad. To my surprise when I got home I was greeted or greeted without to say no pita bread that I asked about in the beginning and watch it make its way down the assembly line with my food.
