Good food except they are always low on lentil beans especially after 1PM. I don't know why they don't replenish. I can't eat rice so l sub it out with lentils. The food is way overpriced. This place was also filled with smoke, making everyone (including the employees) cough. This is a health hazard, and also disgusting to see employees coughing over your food. It's also evident that they are burning the meat on the grill (you can see the smoke coming off of it from the counter). There was also a long black hair in my bowl, and nobody in my party has long black hair. However at least 2 of the employees did. Gross. Lastly, all the trash cans were overflowing so there was nowhere to put trash. This is unsanitary and a clear indication of understaffing, incompetence, negligence, or some combination of all 3. We used to love coming to this location but the quality of service and good prep has become progressively worse in the past three years. We were close by, so we decided to pick up food to go. We showed up when they told us to, only to find that our bowls haven't been started. In their haste, they assembled the bowls incorrectly - forgetting to add the proteins (meats) in the bowls. We discovered this when we got home and it wasn't worth calling. The thing that concerns me the most is their lack of attention to cleanliness. While waiting for the order, I watched a team member clean around the prep counter with a dirty rag with items falling into the sides that they fill the bowls with. It was pretty gross. This is not a review for Cava, because I love the concept and the food is quite good when prepared correctly. But this location (Mission Viejo) is particularly in need of help. read more

God AWFUL, terrible Cava location. I've ordered here a few times. Just received my order and they have NEVER gotten my order right unless I'm standing there in person. Forgot half my order in my bowl. Didn't even include veggies for a half and half. And all the add ons I paid for were not put in. Don't bother coming to this one. Waste of time and money. The fact that the only order that's been correctly made is when I went in person says a lot. Called them multiple times, no answer and they always have a full voicemail box. What poor handling by their manager and even poorer customer service. What is the point of having a phone number if you never pick up the phone and clear your voicemail inbox. Today, I made my first trip to the restaurant and it was AMAZING. I will start with my experience with the servers first. Ally, Bre, Seriah, and Katya were all AMAZING. They were helpful, courteous, and patient from beginning to end. There attitudes were a clear example of professionalism and customer service that makes you want to return back. It is so delightful to be met with genuine smiles. Now onto the food. So many choices but everything I chose was AWESOME. This has now made the "go to" list. See you guys soon. read more

DISCLAIMER this review is not about the food. We went on a Saturday at 630pm. Upon arriving it was busy, but only a few people in front of us. There were plenty of employees behind in the kitchen but only 1 person that I could see taking orders and filling the bowls etc. We waited at least 10-15 minutes and the line had not moved at all. Someone finally came to take the 1 person in front of us order and she told us they were out of tzatziki sauce. Hmmm.... well here is an update! Unfortunately, very disappointed with the CAVA management. The poor workers are soooo understaffed! It's ridiculous! You can see how much they don't want to be there written all over their faces and I don't blame them! I too, would hate to be the only one working a production line of food. There was only 1 person available taking orders and a whole line out the door! Two people were working on mobile orders, because Lord knows how crazy those orders can get too. Also, about the mobile app and mobile orders- Not the same options you can choose from, compared to being in person. The Mobile App definitely needs a lot of work. You don't get the same amount of food portion as if you were waiting in line. When I got home, I was very disappointed on how empty my bowl looked. Additionally, the options on the Mobile order are not the same as in person. Example, I wanted to order Vegetables, but the app said they were "Out of Stock", HOWEVER when I went to pick my order up, I did a quick check and they had a full bowl of vegetables available. I recommend taking a look at Chipotle's layout. Much easier to understand, follow, and available customization options. Again, I recommend management regroup and work on the overall happiness in the workplace, as well as strategies for efficiency. read more

I have not been here since the beginning of Covid in 2020. When I visited this place then, I was extremely concerned at the condition of the place. It was such a mess. The ordering area was such a mess. The meat, the salads, the sauces, everything was super messy! Even the trash cans and the area for drinks was dirty. I emailed corporate about this. I could not believe that practically the entire world had taken such drastic cleaning measures, but Cava had not done so. I got a response within a few days, and they promised to look into it. 3 years later, I'm back! Bad news. It looked even worse than before. A new restaurant opened up next door, and it's made the parking real tricky around lunch time. After waiting 15 minutes to get a parking, then coming inside to a mess, I was very disappointed. I had to say something. I told the young man behind the glass that it looked like a disaster as I pointed to the veggies spilled out all over the place. I felt so bad, I couldn't even bring myself to take pictures. I love the food here. It's delicious! The service was good, so for those 2 reasons I will give 2 stars, but they dropped the ball completely by not maintaining a clean place. I saw plenty of people working there, so it didn't look to me like they were understaffed. I cannot stress how important it is to have a clean area when serving food! Unfortunately, I will not be back, nor do I recommend coming here to eat. I recommend taking a look at their health violations. read more

Want Mediterranean? Want something that's healthy and made to order? This is the place to go!! The wait really depends on when you go. If you go at high traffic times (*ahem lunch), just be prepared to drive around to find a parking spot. Otherwise you may have to park at kaleidoscope. When you come in here, the way they set it up it looks REALLY similar to a similar store near there *cough CHIPOTLE cough*. Super convenient, easy in and out, and VERY easy to customize if you've got dietary requirements. My go to is the custom combination bowl of arugula and super greens with the braised lamb. Additions of two crazy feta and all the veggies and garlic and the yogurt dill. If you're trying to be as least inflammatory in terms of food, this is the way. This is my favorite go to when I decide to go out for a meal. If you're trying to get in and out, I would really recommend getting the app and ordering from there so you can just pop in and out quickly. Come on in, you won't regret it. Let's go!! read more
