We came here for the first time today for an early dinner (4:20pm) before a salon appointment. It's a cute airy restaurant with plenty of tables/seats. S ordered a bowl with white rice, chicken, fire roasted corn, tomato & cucumber, crumbled feta, pickled onions & tahini caesar dressing. I ordered the bowl with white rice,harissa honey chicken, tomato & cucumber, cabbage slaw, pickled onions, kalamata olives, lemon herb tahini & tahini caesar dressing. Here's where the issues came into play. The young lady put 2 spoonfuls (regular serving spoon size not the spoon size in 2 competitor restaurants) of the white rice in each bowl, 1 spoon of meat , 1 spoon of each topping, half a scoop of each dip/spread and a small drizzle of each dressing. Our bowls were barely half full but we thought this was a normal serving size for this restaurant UNTIL I watched the young lady fill at least 6 other orders. Those bowls were full to the top rim. We also asked for 2 orders of the pita chips but the young lady said there weren't anymore.... We asked if they could make some more, another employee said it would be about 3 minutes , which was fine. We also ordered 2 small drinks....S got the pineapple apple mint and I got the blueberry lavender. These were really good & refreshing The food was good but not worth almost 42.00 for half full bowls. According to the receipt the bowls were 12.22 each & I was charged an additional 3.20 for the harissa honey chicken. The pita bread was okay but a tad greasy I'm posting pics of the bowls, S eats really fast & scarfed down most of her half filled bowl but I even started eating. I took a pic of mine also after stirring it a bit I can't recommend this place because of the amount of food we received for 41.96 plus the young lady wasn't very friendly. It seemed like it was an issue with her because we asked if more pita chips could be made. Thankfully another employee said she would make some. We won't be coming back here. I originally gave 3 stars but after I read the other reviews & looked at the pics, I dropped it down to 2 stars. When I walked on, there was a person who was not managing pick ups. And as I looked for my order, I was yelled at and then told if I can't show the online order with my name (which the online order doesn't show names), then I can't get my order. This place is the fast food of all the mediterranean restaurants out there, like Chipotles is called authentic mexican restaurant (which is not) But let me tell you something is frigging amaizing! I LOVE IT! The pita chips are the bomb! You pick what you want on your plate, I add everything in my bowl cause everything is good even the dressings. The options here is best for me than all other places that is similar for salads. This location the guy did not give me that much good portions compared to when I saw the girl serve someone I was like ong thats a lot, wish she served me. I was truly ecstatic when I saw Cava had made its way over to NYC (I initially discovered it in DC a few years ago). Lots of space in the restaurant and who doesn't love free refills on a fun Blueberry Lavender beverage which rocked btw! The sweet and spicy chicken was good but the place was dirty. The tables and benches had dried food on them. Nobody wipes the tables after each sitting. I couldn't find a single clean table to sit down and enjoy my wrap so I sat at a dirty table. It kind of stink sitting there. Like there was a sick smell as if the person who sat there before me was a homeless person. The staffs shirts also looked dirty. Fine place, food is healthy-esque however surprisingly fatty due to addition of hefty portions of dressing and dips to salad itself. The service was efficient but the restaurant is not the cleanest. Cava is one of my favorite salad places out there. For one, the service is top-notch; they'll go out of their way to please you, and I appreciate that. Two, the portions are huge, for the same prices you pay at other salad places in the same ballpark. Three, along with your base, three spreads, protein (oh my goodness, that lamb!), and sauces, you get unlimited toppings! Whoo-hoo! How did they know that was the way to my heart? Four, you can go back and ask for more dressing, and they will pour it up. Five, there's plenty of seating at this location, and it's clean and quiet. And last, they have great drinks! I love the jasmine tea and the lemonade. They're so fresh. Plus, there's mint water por gratis. Cava is from Maryland and has roots in Greek cuisine, so the flavors are bold, Mediterranean, healthy, and hearty. It lasted me two meals, which is great. I believe you can find their products at supermarkets, too, but I like it fresh. I am a CAVA regular, primarily at their 42nd street location. First time I had Cava and I must say I was very impressed, and after my nth meal I must say this is still my favorite fast, healthy, casual spot! Fresh ingredients, healthy, big portions, and great prices is what comes into mind. You can choose between ~4 types of veggies or grains, choose 3 out of ~6 dips, pick 1 out of ~4 proteins, have unlimited toppings, and top it off with a sauce of your choice. Eggplant dip, chicken are my favorites here! The tzatiki sauce was also great, and the lemon herb tahini taste fantastic and healthy. Unlike the 42nd street location, there are seating options here. I love Cava in general, but this particular location needs some help. The place is always a mess in terms of organization/service. Multiple ingredients are usually of stock, pick up orders aren't ready when they're supposed to be, the rewards code scanner has been broken for a year, and there's just general chaos behind the counter when selecting your options. The food here is flat out delicious. They serve huge portions (about $10/bowl) which ended up being 2 meals for me. The best way to describe Cava is the Chipotle of Mediterranean food. Start off with grains. I chose rice and black lentils because you can choose half and half for the same category. Add up to 3 sauces (eggplant, spicy red pepper, and a type of hummus). For protein, I had half chicken and half beef ball and then loaded up on all kinds of toppings in addition to some lettuce and crispy topping. Pita bread also came on the side. Like I said, the portion is simply huge. Cava reminds me of a very similar place called Clove Mediterranean in Downtown Miami. Both are very good. read more

OK, I understand it is a chain, blah blah, blah, but it is also the greatest fast-casual restaurant I have seen in a long time, and Cava will do for Mediterranean food what Chipotle did for Mexican food. And that is a good thing. I cannot wait until they come to Oregon. I always order the same thing--bowl with double the super greens because I don't add rice/grains, 2 scoops of feta and hummus, harissa chicken (the best) and a mix of their toppings with Tahini Caeser. I have been to their DC location on more than one occasion. So this is not my first experience with the chain restaurant. Tonight I was invited to the advance screening. Of the executive directed film by John Legend LOUD MOUTH. And afterwards my best friend and I. Stopped by this location for a post-screening meal. As I mentioned I have been to other locations. But this location had some of the most incredible team members. I am all about customer service. Because without the customer there is no business. The entire crew was friendly and had great customer service skills. Often times you walk into many of these places and. The workers are holding their personal conversations while customers are waiting to be served. The team here was professional in tune to the customer's needs. They made sure that all orders were right. And you saw that they worked as a team. One crew member got up from his break time to assist. His coworkers when a group of customers had arrived. I also witnessed crew member Miguel provide excellent care and compassion for a special needs customer who was there dining. Not sure if Miguel was a manager or not. But he presented great managerial and leadership skills. There are a few locations in NYC. And I have been to them all to date none. Has had a crew like this location. This has now become my favorite location in NYC. I would recommend this location to everyone. read more
