Cava Mezze Grill reminds me of a Chipotle but with a mediterranean kick and a few more options, and that's perfectly fine me. The interior even has that same modern industrial feel to it. I walked in there on a Tuesday evening to a luckily, for my sake, non existent line. Having no one in front of me to hold me up while I perused the menu ordering process, I just informed the staff that it was my first time there and they were more than happy to explain to me what everything was at each ordering station that I can add to my slowly filling up bowl treats. Orders consist of starting with a base: salad, pita, rice, greens. Then you can pick up to 3 dips/spreads: hummus, feta spread, tzatziki! Next is a protein: lamb, chicken, beef, meatballs. After this you there are plenty of topping to choose from: cucumbers, slaw, olives, lemon, mint, pita chips, banana peppers, onions. Last step is to pick a dressing: yoghurt dill, sriracha yogurt, vinaigrette. ^ I probably missed some items, that was just what I remember upon first look, but you get the point! Obviously there's tons of different combinations you can do from here which can be either good or bad thing. I guess one thing I am a little confused about is why have dressings and dips in the bowl, seems like too much of a wet to dry ratio. Fortunately it worked for my rice bowl with chicken. All the flavors were exactly what I look for in any greek mediterranean dish: the bitterness of the black olives, the semi spice of banana peppers, the chickpea flavor in hummus, the freshness in the cucumber dill, and the ever so tastiness of the tzatziki sauce. I personally loved my bowl and can't wait to come back and try out different combinations. I was not exactly quite full when I was finished but then again I was also very hungry so I will chalk it up to that. Cava Mezze oh how I am falling in love with you! I'm so excited to be introduced to some new food items at Cava Mezze these days! Everythiing I have tried is fresh, fresh, fresh. Tasty. Delicious. Healthy? Yes, I daresay, healthy. And the combinations! I'm just getting started! The folks are very helpful, too, if you are unfamiliar with the offerings. I have found that carrying their little menu with me up to the counter is helpful, since nothing is marked. The menu says, Choose Two of These, Choose All You Want of This, but the bins aren't labeled so without my cheat sheet, I'm a bit lost. I'm getting better, though! I love their falafel, which is basically ground and grilled chick peas. Who knew - a vegetarian option I actually love! The crazy feta, the tzatziki sauce, the tahini -- om nom nom. This Cava is bigger and brighter than it's Merrifield counterpart, but the food and service are about the same. I seriously love Cava and would be happy eating it once a week. It's the same drill here as at the others, you decide if you want a salad, a bowl, or a wrap, choose your dips, your protein and then your toppings. The only thing you really need to know about this particular location is there is no menu board on the back wall and the bowls aren't labeled. So I would recommend grabbing a paper menu to bring with you (located near the entrance and on the far wall) if you are a Cava newbie. read more

It's Mediterranean Chipotle. That is what it essentially is. But it's freakin delicious!! The set up is quite the same as well: pick between rice, lentils, and/or salad mix, pick some delicious dips, pick your protein and pick your toppings. My favorite proteins have been falafel, chicken, and braised lamb. And feel free to ask for half and half of two proteins. They'll gladly do that for you! Favorite dips: Craaaazy Feta is amazing! Spicy feta, I mean come on. The eggplant dip and the tzatziki are my next go to dips. So...if you haven't heard CAVA is the Mediterranean chipotle. Currently in line for the Community Event in Fairfax. From the looks of it this space is bright. Very open. With typical cava flare of the modern rustic steel and wood. It is a lot brighter then the mosaic location. There is a lot more seating also which is a bonus. The staff does seem to pretty organized in that it is an assembly line. Also Bonus they offer Maine root soda... Which is totally better selections from the tysons and the mosaic locations which have your generic coke products. After 3 hours in line I finally get my food. Food review: fresh and delicious just like the other cava franchises. Pita chips were interesting a tad bit heavy on the salt my guess is that they were in a rush to get them out so they quickly salted them. They were crispy and chewy not your typical store bought since they are made fresh in house.My go to spreads are always the same eggplant+ red pepper, Harissa and crazy feta or tzatziki.But really all the spreads are good. Juices: Carrot Ginger Lemonade and Strawberry Mint Lime both refreshing and really good. Overall service steady except being overcharged by the cashier yes I did know that one bowl was free I was told that when I placed my order. I had my card to pay for the other bowl was told $7 but somehow ended up with a 19.48 charge on my card for 1 bowl and a drink . I'm sorry what? How does that make sense oh and no receipt thanks a lot. Honestly cava in general has always gotten 4 stars from me but because I overcharged... 2 stars until this issue is fixed. A sufficient light meal that is healthy, tasty, and environmentally friendly! It makes me feel good to eat this after a good workout at the gym -- clean & filling. I love that you can decide between having just leafy greens, carby rice (or no rice), or a mixture of both. I like the varied selection of meats, roasted veggies, toppings, sides, dressings, and drinks! (Like different flavored homemade iced teas) I thought it was bit overwhelming with the amount of options when I first visited the restaurant, but I had an idea of what to order the next time around. I remember I was nervous when I first tried it because the toppings weren't labeled and I didn't know how to ask for them --but that's just me! Well, this is an uncomfortable review to write after all of the 5 stars but I have to be honest and really hope I don't offend anyone, this is all just my opinion. Personally, I don't like this place. This is my second visit to CM and I didn't think I'd ever return. Why don't l like it? Well, in my opinion there's tooooo much going on in 1 bowl, in addition to that, I don't like the way their meat tastes. Now, that could have a lot to do with the fact that I'm Persian and don't particularly agree with other middle eastern seasonings. The sauce is a hit or miss. The Siracha yogurt was way too spicy for me and the zesty sauce left a bitter after taste in my mouth. HOWEVER, with alll of that said, their Pita chips are AMAZING and their Feta sauce is really good! I think if I ever go back to place again it will be primarily for some pita chips and feta sauce. Their staff was very helpful, polite, patient and sweet. I've been to the Cava locations in Tysons and Mosaic before, and this is definitely the biggest/nicest one so far! I came for the free meal on opening day during lunch time, and the line actually wasn't too bad. Even though they were obviously super busy, the service was still friendly and efficient! As for the food, Cava never disappoints. Their food always tastes fresh and is a nice alternative to Chipotle. My favorite dips to get are the crazy feta, harissa, and hummus. However, if you want to get the most variety I'd recommend getting the dips that aren't offered as dressings (e.g. hummus, eggplant red pepper, feta, etc.). I've tried the lamb, meatball, and chicken toppings, and they are all delicious. I've never tried any of their specialty drinks since I'm not really a juice person, but I like how they keep it fresh update them every month. Overall, Cava is definitely one of my favorite "fast" food places! read more

Absolutely obsessed! Definitely my new go to place. It's basically like a Chipotle - but with Mediterranean food. You get to pick from an abundance of ingredients (I personally get basically everything). I opted for brown rice (at an attempt to be healthy) and honestly you can't even tell the difference between that and white if you are trying to decide between the two. Tons of sauces, six different types of meats, lots of toppings and a dressing on top. I personally recommend the Tahini if you don't know which one to pick. Wish they gave some larger portions though - I always have to ask for a little more. Definitely have to try the drinks as well. They also have local grown food - which is awesome and they are open about where their products are from right there in the store. You can get some points by downloading their app that you directly connect with your credit card and get a free $3 the first time you use the app. Who doesn't love some free money? Totally fell in love with this place after coming for a quick dinner with my husband. I hope they open up more locations! The food quality is fantastic. The prices were the same as a local chain fast food salad place, but the quality here is much better than others!! We both chose grain and greens bowls. My husband chose spinach as his base, brown rice and meatballs which he loved and I chose romain, white rice and grilled chicken which was delicious. The other toppings are incredible, to name a few- olives, hummus varieties, cheeses, sauces, cucumber/tomato salsa, pickled onions and cabbage. The decor inside is modern and classy. I come here pretty frequently because it's close to where I live, healthy, quick, and relatively inexpensive. Additionally, the restaurant has a nice modern feel. My go-to order is the greens and grains bowl with supergreens and brown rice. From there I get two scoops of the eggplant sauce (so delicious) and one scoop of the harissa (spicy!!). For the protein I'll switch it up between chicken and falafel, or sometimes I'll get half and half. I won't go into toppings, but I will say that the green dressing is pretty good. I'm not sure if it's still free to get a mini pita on the side with the greens and grains bowl, but I've definitely been able to get it in the past and it adds a nice extra touch. The bowl is pretty substantial - I usually finish the entire thing but it is a very large portion. It might be a good idea to order it to-go just so you can pop a lid on and take it with you in case you're unable to finish it. The flavors of the bowl took me some getting used to, but after a couple of times I really liked it. I've also tried the mini pita + soup option and I would not recommend it. I felt that it was way overpriced for what it was. Similar to the bowl, you choose which toppings you want on your pita (but you don't get the rice or greens option). Since the pita is small, it's pretty difficult to eat because the toppings are a huge pile on top. The soup they had that day was gazpacho. I personally had no idea what that was but did not like it. It's served cold and was quite salty. It tasted more like a sauce to me than a soup. I'm going to end this review before it turns into a novel. Basically, this place is good!! I would recommend the greens and grains bowl because it's a nice balance of your different food groups. I'll definitely be back sometime soon. read more

Delicious options with a healthy twist, which quite frankly needs to be replacing all these Chipotles and McDonalds around here. I wish there was more of them! This one gets super busy, especially on the weekends. Usually there's a long line but it actually goes by pretty fast. You can choose from salads, grain bowls, mini pitas or a mix of salad and rice. I usually go for brown rice, meatballs, chicken or falafels, hummus, tzatziki, feta and a bunch of random toppings. You must get the pita chips to dip into your bowl or just eat, they are so good! As for the drinks, I think each location is different especially for the juices/teas, which is really why I come here. They have this amazing juice at Fairfax location, I think its like pineapple mint and its amazing!!! I wish I could take the whole thing home with me. But actually all their juices are so delightful and refreshing. Its something I look forward to every time I come. Cava is nothing compared to Chipotle at the end of the strip mall. Cava has fresh food and even pulls it out of the refrigerator when you ask, which I favor more, that way it won't get germs or is less likely to be sneezed and coughed on. I came here for a lunch date with my boss and it is one of thee perfect spots! The noise level is just right, not so quite and not too loud! Much clean! Wow. I tried it for the first time this week, and since then I have gone back there 3 more times! The vegetables and food were SUPER fresh! They emphasize that all their meats and veggies are from local areas! They have SO many different types of selections and toppings that you can have in your bowl or "pita". Each bowl you can have, half rice/half "green leaves", all rice (offer white/brown), or all lentil grains. This place provides many different types of veggies, sauces, and meats (falafels, chicken, braised lamb), and dressings. Many different types of combinations and permutations to try. Harissa is SPICY, but I love it. They also offer you a side of pita for free (like a tortilla wrap at Chipotle). I will continue to come here again! Service is very fast and friendly! I was excited to try Cava on my lunch hour as I am (slowly) working my way through local eateries relatively close to my office. Since Cava seems to be one of the most consistently highly rated quick eats in the area, I had high expectations going in. I am happy to say I was not disappointed! The interior is very industrial- like Chipotle- and the assembly line is also set up in a similar manner. I arrived around 1:10pm and every table in the place was taken, and there were at least 8 people in front of me. I'm not going to lie, I almost turned around and walked right back out. I began having flashbacks to my former local Chipotle in Pittsburgh where, if there happened to be a line longer than 5 people, the staff basically melted down and you could expect to get served about 45 minutes later. I am happy I didn't walk out because I was through that line within 10-15 minutes! The staff really knows how to keep the line moving and work efficiently! I'm happy I read a couple of reviews prior to visiting and I'll echo their tip-take a menu along the assembly line with you as nothing is labeled. Adhering to the current trend of customization, everything is "made your way". You pick a base-pita, grain, salad, salad and grain, or mini pita-then your dips and spreads-a couple of types of hummus, tzatziki, spicy harissa, crazy feta. You can choose up to 3- then comes the protein-chicken, grilled meatballs, lamb, beef, falafel to name a few- followed by toppings and dressings-think Mediterranean-inspired. I chose a salad base, with eggplant and red pepper (which is mixed with greek yogurt and is hummus-like in texture) and tzatziki spreads, grilled chicken, tomato and onion mix, diced cucumbers, and pickled banana peppers. For my dressings I had the yogurt dill sauce on the salad with a side of the Siracha greek yogurt since I was semi-concerned about the spice level of it. This was by far one of the best "fast food" lunches I have ever had! The flavors were on point and melded together amazingly, just blending from one to the next, with each complimenting the other flavors in my mouth at the time. The Siracha greek yogurt wasn't spicy when combined with the yogurt dill so I ended up just piling both on top of the salad. I felt really good about eating this too-very healthy! Although, since it is customized, it is as healthy-or unhealthy- as you make it. Even though the staff ushered customers through the line quickly, each person I encountered was super friendly and had a smile. I took my food to go since I didn't want to take up a full table myself and I also really only had 30 minutes left on my lunch and I didn't feel like eating hurriedly. My salad bowl cost about $9.50 (including tax) and I feel I got an appropriate amount of food for that price. I noticed they had some seasonal items-including apple cider and Greek Minestrone soup- which is nice for variety's sake. I am a fan of CAVA restaurants, and this is one of my favorite locations. I usually get a greens and grains bowl and load it up with as many add-ins and toppings as available. There's only a few toppings that I avoid. I particularly like their harissa, red pepper hummus, and eggplant & red pepper dips. I usually select nearly all of the toppings and like to top off the bowl with green harissa dressing. They serve a pita bread with the bowls, if you ask. They change soup and vegetables seasonally. I have really liked the spicy soups. The current selection is minestrone; it is OK but not as good as some of the past offerings. I usually don't bother with their beverages - they are too funky for me. I have had mixed experiences ordering ahead using the CAVA app - some very good and some disastrous. Consequently, I avoid trying to order ahead during busy lunch or dinner times. The main entry door to the restaurant is a single door that lets in cold air that makes the dining area especially cold during cold weather. I was stand up there waiting someone could help me.. after five minutes the server says what would you like? Hungry people, low carb people, keto people, etc. If you're one of the hungry people listed above and don't have any dietary restrictions the way to get the most food is get rice, some lettuce, and lentils and then add your protein dips and toppings. My first time trying CAVA today. Loved it! The falafels, chicken and the eggplant hummus were delicious. The vegetables and the food overall were very fresh. You can tell that they source food from local farms, there is a certain level of freshness you can feel with every bite. I loved their selection of summer juices and teas: specifically the Peach Green Tea and Strawberry Citrus. One thing I would mention is that there is a lack of organization at the ordering line. There were a lot of employees attempting to assist customers, which is great....The problem is that they were not talking to each other resulting in a longer line than necessary. We came in here and I really liked the lay out. I had been to another CAVA and it wasn't that good, but this one looked really clean and spacious. We needed a quick dinner and this was situated perfectly! We got to the line and there wasn't a wait. The menu is a little difficult to read because it was scattered and there was just a lot of information but the staff was SOOO HELPFUL!! The young gentlemen Ben was so helpful!! He noticed us struggling and he helped guide us through the menu! He told us how you started off with a base, then pick a protein and add ons. He was so nice because we had so many questions and he had to be patient with us. Go Ben for excellent customer service!!! I was so glad because he was super patient and I also noticed all the other staff being extremely nice and patient. So we end up getting our bowls and they are delicious!! I loved how they put a lot of Every ingredient in. You get WAY more chicken than at any Chipotle!! I also loved the harissa Hot sauce. I will Definitely be coming back. I love CAVA and have had great experiences at different locations but my first time at the Fairfax CAVA was pretty disappointing, I'm not going to lie. The proportions were smaller than other locations I have been to but each location and each person who serves is different, I get it, but what I was super unhappy about is the customer service. I asked for a side of pita (an upcharge of $1.50) and I was given a complete stale piece of pita! Like this pita is stiff, not warm, and is falling apart like a dry cracker in my hands. I know sometimes it's busy and things slip through the cracks but I was one of only two customers at the store at the time! I can't believe the time wasn't taken to make sure that the pita that was being served was in good condition- honestly this pita should have just been thrown out, it tastes days old. I also took the order to go so I am stuck with this awful pita :( Still love CAVA and I am open to giving this location another chance since it's so close to my home, but maybe not for a while. read more

Cava is always a safe option as a college student who tries to eat healthy! I ALWAYS get every side veggie they offer because I love vegetables and their salads aren't just skimpy little romaine lettuces or something, it's like actual greens! I always snapchat myself at Cava and it's become the norm for me to go get Cava for lunch/dinner. Cava has become a staple for me and my friends because the portions are huge (if you get everything they have to offer, and you CAN for one simple price) and I eat a lot and it's hard for me to get full, but Cava can get me full ~ Catch me at Cava like almost every day!
