Really good coffee and the secret is their water. Although the beans are from a local roaster, the way this shop processes brings the aromas and flavor to perfection. The LEMON scones are to die for. Don't bother going to the bakery around the corner, their scones are dry and simply awful. I came in before the annual Polar Bear Dip and this place was hopping! Amazing service at the counter - very friendly staff. Ordered a decaf Americano -- it's seriously the best decaf espresso I've ever had; nutty and coffee, without being too burnt or acidic. I decided to try this establishment because I've never noticed it here before. Also, because of the location and how close it is the sit on the pier with a nice cup of coffee. The staff seems friendly and the shop itself is very well lit and clean. I ordered a cappuccino as an alternative to my classic mocha I usually get. It's my staple for ordering at a new place. I like this location on a slow day. We come to stay at a family members house about 3 times a year. Im a little over the stuffines of staff who are way cooler than their out of town tourist clientele. I usially come in and get a coffe and sit for a while reading the news on my iPad. This last visit was a litttle busier. I was waiting by the register area which has no signage about where the actual place to order is. I was trying to make eye contact with the barista who quickly glanced over but a local had walked in so that petson was helped first. Then they exchanged some pleasntries for a short time. (Still waiting). After my order was taken I asked for my coffee in a mug. I was then told that they are busy today so no mugs. 3 empty tables with basically a lot of in and out customers. I can't imagine a restaurant serving you on paper plates just because they are busy. read more

A written sign said double dark coffee outside the door of Cayucos coffee . I asked if it was available. The girl with the long hair said the signs wrong , in a bitchy tone.she didn't even bother to go fix it then I explained to her about the drink I was given the previous day which was delicious and made by another employee. She said to me that doesn't sound like a drink we've ever made here She was rude and inexperienced didn't even try to offer to make me a drink that might be like the one I had the previous day hopefully she's not the owners daughter but if she is she needs to be taught how to be polite and helpful. The barista on Monday was really helpful and it brought me back the next day. read more

Just what I needed to perk me up after my not so satisfactory hotel room. I ordered a triple iced latte with hazelnut and it was just about perfect. The coffee was strong but very smooth (and organic as a bonus) and the amount of syrup was just right adding just a hint of nutty sweetness (if you prefer your coffee really sweet you will need to specify, but for me it was perfect) I also ordered the pumpkin scone and really enjoyed the texture, it was crisp on the outside and soft with the right amount of density on the inside. The prices were also very reasonable for such high quality coffee, for me and my partner (2 drinks, an add shot and 1 scone) it was just over $10. The space is nice with a few indoor tables and a few shaded outdoor spots out front (good for people and puppy watching). read more

Every time I come here I have to get an iced mocha. I never really watched them make the drink until my most recent visit, and that is when I discovered why the drink is so good. They are using chocolate milk for their iced mocha! Typically, places just use chocolate syrup and regular milk, but using chocolate milk takes it to another level. The owner happened to be making my drink, and he was also very adamant that it was because the brand of chocolate milk he is using, which is Dairy Goddess. Best coffee in town. Pastries maybe, they're often sold out by late morning so it's touch and go. The place offers a relaxing good vibe atmosphere for sitting with a friend or a newspaper. If you go more than once you'll get a welcoming smile, maybe not before that so don't be turned away by apparent disinterest, they can look overworked some days. Of the three places in town this is most comfortable with best espresso if not most picturesque (for that go to garden place; for friendliest go to top dog). read more

We have been to this coffee shop twice. Unfortunately both times we have not been impressed. I'm no coffee expert, however I know the vanilla latte I ordered should not have been a half full cup of foam. I asked them to remake it, and she did with a sigh and dirty look. As I said Thank you she began to explain to me how to order a latte cause I ordered it wrong..... I'm sorry but I didn't pay for a cup of foam. I explained to her that I order lattes a lot, and have never had this problem, with that much foam. Once it was remade it was ok... However the service is less than desirable. Best coffee for miles around. I'm very particular about my espresso drink and they do it just right. Friendly staff. Nicely designed place, so you can take advantage of the breeze, or go further in to sit if you don't like drafts. (Many places expose you to the sea breeze no matter where you sit, so you better like the outdoors a LOT if you go to those places). I wish them every success; long may they continue. read more
