Fast food restaurants are more inviting. Except for a very sweet woman who asked if she could help me, I was surprised to see that there were no cooks at the front kitchen. A lady took my order and left the front kitchen behind a door. After a few minutes, I started thinking something wasn't right. I should have left. While i was waiting, i was looking around and the place looked so deserted and depressing. It looked like no one had been there in months. Old sports paraphernalia hanging, tables bunched up together. I should have left. To make a long story short, the food was awful. I believe the chicken was cooked days ago, frozen and served. Sorry, but that's the truth. I'm pulling for CC businesses to succeed, this one needs serious help. The Spanish rice is a doctored up, probably "Rice a Roni." The beans had more liquid than beans. The food is on par with Sardis but you only get rice and beans. No selection on vegetables, fries, or Yucca like Sardis but hey, this is positive for retail starved Calvert County. For some reason, the parking lot is always full of cars and the parking in front of the restaurant is reserved for the dry cleaners next door. I've been here 3 times, this time however, they ran out of chicken and another batch was cooking. It would take close to 20 minutes before the next batch was ready. I guess they are still working out the kinks with how much they should cook. I've seen steady business there and I have never had to wait long in line. If you are doing take out, I suggest you call ahead for pickup. They have a pickup window on the side of the building. I will update this review as time goes by. read more

The black beans were some green soup concoction with like 3 black beans. The Spanish rice was from a box of rice a roni from the grocery store. Dried up and rancid. The so called green sauce was dern tarter sauce. And the cole slaw was dried up cabbage and carrots. Not a piece of sauce to be found. Do yourself a favor and runnnnnn far far away from this fake spot. Somebody lied their tails off for the 4 stars they got. Have at it. Also, the chicken combo comes with 2 sides. 1 side is the rice & black beans. The 2nd side was the Cole slaw. All this is on the menu. So tell me why they charged us $6 extra for the cole slaw. Tonight our family picked up carry out. The food was done promptly and was delicious. We ordered the family platter, chips, guacamole, and Queso and our bill was only $45. This served 6 people and we have plenty of leftovers. Our server Craig was professional, kind, and took extra precautions (COVID-19) as he served our food to us. Had to downgrade my review as the last visit was less than impressive. The chicken was tough not as flavorful. Also, it seems they have changed their sauces. The yellow sauce was almost thick as Mayo and had little flavor. There was a guy in there eating when I sat down and he made a complaint to the owner that his chicken was still raw inside. I didn't seem to have that problem but it appears as though they may have been having a bad day or the food quality is going down. read more

My husband and I stopped in for dinner this evening. It was a wonderful experience. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The selection of food on the menu was extensive, especially if you are looking for something gluten free. I got the 1/4 chicken and plantains. It was all very delicious. I called and was told that it's "Authentic Peruvian" food because the owner's wife is from Peru. I traveled 45 minutes to purchase some lomo saltado. I actually want to post a picture of what it's supposed to look like & what this restaurant cooked for me. First of all, the seasoning on the meat was not Peruvian seasoning. Furthermore the meat wasn't the one used on traditional dishes. The rice that was used was minute rice or something close to the rice you boil from a bag. This was very disappointing. I wish I could get my $28 back. It was a total waste. Maybe for people in the area who aren't familiar with traditional or authentic dishes will have a different review. But my husband and I recommended our friends to purchase food with us & we were quite embarrassed. We don't want anyone to think this is Peruvian food because it is not! We ate here for the first time and overall it's very good. Clean, nice area to sit inside, courteous, friendly staff. You can get takeout fairly quickly, and we got the Family Platter (whole chicken, 5 large sides, 6 sauces for $27.) The chicken is definitely the star, I don't think you even need a sauce, the seasonings go all the way through the meat. The plantains, Spanish rice, and black beans are also extremely well seasoned and tasty. The green beans weren't seasoned at all, disappointing since they look like good fresh green beans that never lived a day inside a can. The chips are made fresh and they're very good, thin and salted enough, very much like you find at Chevy's and Uncle Julio's. The salsa on the other hand, what a complete disappointment! It was one note, just tomatoes, no spice, no garlic, no cilantro, no lime... nothing. I could char an onion, jalapeño, and some cloves of garlic and blend it up along with a nice handful of cilantro and fix it here at home, but why should I have to? At the cost 5.50 for a small, I shouldn't have to do a thing. It's so close to looking like the charred and flavorful salsa at Chevy's and Uncle Julio's I had my hopes up high especially at that inflated price. Large sides are a pint, small sides are half that. The sauces are ok, heavy on the mayo, would be better on a burrito/quesadilla I think, neither were spicy to me at all. I like that the chicken is serves in quarters so you aren't dealing with cutting up an entire chicken. We'll definitely be getting a chicken from them weekly going forward, and looking forward to trying the fried rice and ceviche. I'm a chips and salsa fiend, so I really hope the tasteless salsa is just a random off day. read more

I really wanted to like this place being that Its the closest "Peruvian" chicken spot for our family. The chicken was good. Although, I'm not sure how fresh it was. The rotisserie wasn't on when we visited. The fried yucca was good, and the waffle fries were ok. Kind of strange for a Peruvian place, but I gave it 3 stars because the white rice was horrible. It was so bland. Kind of like what you get when you microwave those tiny cups of rice. Yeah! Just like that. We tried it, but wouldn't come back. Would much rather make the trip to DC or Waldorf. The customer service is great and no complaints on the food. My green beans were not sealed properly and the guy felt so bad he gave me a clean rag to wipe up my car and told me to keep it. I love customer service when they care and respect you. I was driving my new car and he made me feel better about green bean juice all over my leather seats lol The chicken is great although a tad too much salty but that could just be the rotisserie flavor. With my family having high pressure I think I will be the only one who eats here often compared to them. This was fast becoming my family's favorite place. The other day I ordered online and went to pick it up. The girl working was HORRENDOUS. She was lazy, rude, and let me stand there for 15 mins before she even addressed me at all. She just stood there fixing a computer mistake that she made. She took so long that it became actually comical how rude a person could literally be. Then when it was time for her to talk to me she didn't even speak she literally just waved her hand in a motion that you would use for an annoying child. I was so shocked and insulted. Then she literally talked to me like I was the one who was stupid. She was so bad that the cooks seemed embarrassed and annoyed. I was so upset. We absolutely love this place and it was fast becoming our favorite. Every other time that we have been there everyone was amazing. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience. The customer service was very nice and the buffalo dip was average in taste. However, it was no longer hot by the time we received it. I had to warm it up, along with the queso dip. Eating the queso dip was like eating spoon fulls of diced onions and peppers, with a little bit of Velveta cheese melted on top. 5 stars compared to other Calvert restaurants, not compared all Peruvian chicken around the rest of the DC area, esp around Hyattsville and Adelphi. But it's still pretty good, and a much needed option for Calvert. We were getting tired of driving to Waldorf. The chicken here is as good as any of the Waldorf restaurants IMO, so save yourself the trip. We got the Superbowl special, which is a really good deal for under $40 -- 2 chickens, rice, beans, 2 other large sides, and 2 2-liters of soda. The chicken was thoroughly marinated, spiced, and charcoal grilled. It was a good quality, meaty chicken. The green beans were nicely steamed and garlicky. And the fries were waffle style and tasted a lot like Chic-fil-a. Beans and rice were fine too. Definitely call ahead if you want to get your food and get going. Service was good, and they try their best, but it's all manual labor inside with the chicken cut to order, and the fries and beans were cooked fresh too. So it takes time if they're a little busy. Looks like they're still figuring things out behind the counter, so the line can get slow. Don't let that stop you. We need support diverse dining options like Pollo Delicioso in Calvert, especially when the food is this good! read more

I'm rating 4 starts instead of 5, only because of cost being a bit higher than similar food outside of Prince Frederick. The food itself is very good, ready on time, and always packed with my complete order. I'll admit that I don't stray far from the chicken (tastes great) and sides, but I have tried most of the sides and have no complaints. The waffle fries are great as are the rice and plantains. Sides are a little pricey by themselves so be sure to check out the combos! read more

5 STARS!!! Peruvian chicken joints can be very different and this place is no exception. This is, by far, my favorite patrician chicken spot now!!! The seasoning on the chicken was AMAZING and everything else was great, from well cooked and flavored rice, too fresh fried yucca.
