First of all, this review is LONG overdue (about 6 months), but it's a testament to the quality of work Robert and his team produce as we have had essentially zero issues since they wrapped our home renovation project. It's also given me time to reflect on the overall project and now I can more easily summarize this review... Project Overview: -5,000 square feet flooring (tile/carpet demo, hardwood install, herringbone tile install, new baseboards) -5 bathrooms - complete gut renovations (including mold removal, plumbing reconfiguration, drywall install, tile install, lighting install, etc.) -Kitchen renovation (new sinks, faucets, counters, backsplash, appliance removal, cieling/lighting demo, etc.) +Many other smaller, yet important projects around the house Time to complete: ~3.5 months 1) Robert is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is so quick to respond to every single inquiry, no matter what time of day, and he will troubleshoot any issue with you with the utmost respect and patience. 2) Timelines are pretty accurate - FAR more accurate than the industry average which is awful. And this team moves fast! 3) His team is an amazing group of people! Shout out to Mario, Ramon, Jose, Jason & Eddy. Just a really solid group of guys who are professional and happy to help. 4) Mistakes are properly addressed - mistakes happen in a huge project like this, and we had two incidents with tile work. One where the wrong grouts were used, and one where the direction of tile was wrong. Both were caught at the end of the days work, and both were quickly addressed the following day with no issues. I guess the lesson here is double check everything prior to beginning work. 5) Valuable work! The quality of work is excellent for the price. Not everything is going to be 100% perfect, if you are expecting that, you should expect to pay 3x what CBR will quote you. Don't get me wrong, the end result is still a 9/10, but the value is a 20/10. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to go with Robert for another remodel project. From start to finish these guys not only did what they said they would do, they went above and beyond! We were having trouble finding a contractor that would even return our calls even after awarding the contract, but once we were introduced to Robert and his team things went fast! We were in a jam and needed 2 units remodeled quickly! This is my SECOND time writing this review. We hired Robert and his team to do our garage remodel. According to the contract we signed the payment was due at the time of the completion of the project. At first all was well. They were on time and responsive. A few things that had to come from us was the ladder for the attic and we also got to pick out the coloring for the epoxy and the specks that go on top of it. I sent the color choices to Robert, which he then bought. The ladder I found online at Home Depot and send Robert a message asking if this was a good choice. There was a picture along with the specs. He immediately replied saying it was perfect, so I went out to get it. Let me say this. There was no talk that it needed to be for a ceiling height under 8'. One thing I asked Robert to do was to PATCH UP some of the cracks in the foundation wall before they epoxy. I did not expect him to make it smooth and perfect. He patched it up on one wall, but didn't bother with the rest. The epoxy went on and I couldn't walk into the garage for 3-4 days to check things. I did tell him that the specks were not the colors I chose, and he said he didn't notice but I was right. He didn't pay attention. I did not give him grief about it. A few days later I walked into the garage and asked Robert why they didn't do a better job patching the foundation, to which he got very defensive and kept telling me that to make it smooth I would have to call out a specialist. Clearly he wasn't listening as I never asked for a smooth finish. After our argument he took off and said he finished the job. I came to find that the door wasn't painted as we agreed and the ladder wasn't adjusted (it had to be cut to the floor and the bottom attached. I asked why he didn't finish. He said the door painting was a favor to me and the ladder he just wont charge me for. (the 400$ that I owed at the finish) Let me say this. About 5 days into the job Robert asked for a deposit (3000k which was about half what we owed). I said ok even though he never mentioned it before and it wasn't on the contract. He said the rest would be due when they finished. HOWEVER, he asked for another 3000k before the job was done, leaving $400 that he said I'll give him when they finish. Sadly, I trusted him and went along with his requests. I wrote him a review a few weeks after at which point he started threatening to sue me for slander. I tried to be civil with him and said he can come and finish what he agreed to do and ill pay him the amount i would owe, and told him that he was unprofessional for taking off and not finishing. He agreed he should not have done that and that what I proposed was fair. He asked that i remove the review which I was nice enough to do. He came to fix the ladder 3 WEEKS LATER and informed me that I GOT THE WRONG ONE. I told him it was his fault as I sent him the specs and he should have checked the ceiling before he said it was good and before he installed it. He attempted to remedy it by cutting the legs and attaching on a different way but that caused other issues. We agreed he would get another ladder and be at the house a few days later to reinstall it. He calls me at 11 (when he was supposed to be here) and said he cant find it. Eventually we agreed it had to be ordered, so I told him let me know when it gets here. He asked that I pay for it and then take it out of the owed amount. I said no. He then informed me that he has a job that will take 4 weeks and he wont have time to fix his mistakes for that long. I said that wont work because he had a RESPONSIBILITY to finish a job he agreed to do! He tried to get rid of me by giving me money for the ladder and saying i could find another person to install. and I quote "I don't understand why you want me so bad to be the one installing it?". Maybe because i took the time to hire you in the first place and according to your contract it was something you were supposed to do! Roberts argument continues to be that he did not "charge" me for it. I paid him on time and when asked, but my mistake. I should have done as contract stated and withheld payment till job was done. Robert isn't reliable and does not care about following through and fixing things when he makes mistakes. If he did he would have ordered that ladder and been here first thing to make it right instead of putting me on the backburner for another job. If you hire him, do yourself a favor and stick to the payment plan first set in your contact. My ladder is now cut off and messed up with no way to fix it, floating 8" off the ground. read more

Someone referred me to CBR by reading up Yelp Reviews. Cool! Anyways, communication is good, nice guy, easy going. He's got a lot on his plate and he's great in getting his sub contractors out when he's unable to check things out at that moment which is normal for all contractors. Wonderful job with few guys that worked for him Remodeling 2 bathrooms with tiles, shower fixtures, and toilets. building a vanity, and a light fixture. Beautiful and well done. I had to pick everything out and make sure, everything was there for them to work. Boom, not a problem. I made it happen. Beautiful design ideas from Floor Decor and what I wanted the subcontractor made it happen. Great job! All the electrical on my property needed a series face lift. Electrical looks great in my girls bathroom, the garage and down stairs closet. He also made a nook that looks out my beautiful kitchen window. It's more of a bench, cupboards got in the way to extending seating on each side which I didn't understand on my end. So it's a cute bench under my window. Measurements of height were wrong it's sits too high, but he again just did what I asked for. You have to know exactly what you want, if not things can get messed up or not exactly what you want. Also a miss in communication through subcontractors as well, things can spiral down if you don't know what you are asking an experience contractor. There are outlets inside and outside my home which needed replacement and to get electrical working as contractor and I had discussed. Unfortunately a few were missed. My daughters bedroom, the dining area by the stair does not work. He was able to replace what he saw and remembered. Electric boxes that was replaced works. The timer outside he tried to set so many times but it never worked right. I had to hire someone else more specialized in landscaping to have electrical all run on one timer unit. Too many timer boxes on my property also more electrical boxes were found further back in my yard that didn't work also had some cut electrical wiring . My new hired landscaper was able to catch and find the issues to make sure more electrical boxes were replaced and replace the timers that seem to fix the problem. Also I was a little surprised that CBR does not have anyone who specializes in painting. I was warned, when having one of his guys to just paint a bathroom that none of his guys were specialized in painting. When you are spending around $21000 + it's important not to skim on the details. We had a least 3-5 walk throughs in what was left to finish up. Almost done...but not. I had a walk through with one of his helper guys, but did not get the final walk through with Robert at the end I should of asked for one more walk through. Communication is a big deal, but it does get a little lost if both contractor and clients are busy. Also we are human and forget what was said. I'm single mom and work full time so it can be challenging to catch every detail. CBR is finished and paid. Thank you CBR! Knowing what I know now I would of handled it a little different with adding specialized contractors, like painters and landscapers. Also having a list for a proper walk through at the end of the job before paying it in full and make sure what exactly is on the contract agreement. To much verbal doesn't really hold water, need everything in writing so theirs no confusion on either end. read more

Requested a quote in early October. He came to the house, took measurements, etc and all seemed well. He said he'd get back to me with the quote and other details the next day. 10 days pass and nothing. So I follow up, and he tells me he's was out of town and he'd get me a quote the next day. Next day comes and goes and I never receive it. I give him some time and I follow up again in a few weeks. He asks me to send him my email address again and he will resend. I do that and I also ask him to text me once it's sent so I know he sent it and it didn't go to junk mail. I never heard back from him again. So it was a total waste of time. The good thing is I'm glad I didn't get the quote and end up choosing this company with it's false promises. read more

I generally don't like to write negative reviews. Like most reviewers here have said, Robert is very good at communicating and extremely personable and easy going, when he's currently on your job. Once he's left the job, it's hard getting him back to finish the job. I found Robert through yelp and hired him to remodel my guest bath. His guys did extra work (which I appreciated and why this isn't a 1 star review) without charging us extra. However, I had some trim and lights on order so they couldn't complete the job. Robert told me they'll be back to finish once I get everything in. I have paid for everything already, in full mind you, prob the first mistake. I've reached out to Robert twice to come back in the last 2-3 months to see if he can come back and finish, first I was told he was in Temecula doing a job, and once he's done, he'll come back. Fine. He never reached back out. I texted again a month later just so I could get a date for them to come back, doesn't have to be this month, next month, just wanted to get on the calendar. I was told he was currently in FL and will contact me when he gets back June 8th. It's June 24th and nothing. I'm not going to hound someone and chase them down, not my jam. But it's a lesson learned and if you're reading, you've been warned. A shame because I was going to hire him to do other stuff. I've since hired other contractors to do that work, who HAVE come back to finish the job. So moral of the story here is: 1. Don't pay in full when the job isn't done. 2. Robert will prob not come back if you've paid in full, even if the job isn't done. read more

I have worked with Robert and his team on several home improvements and upgrades since buying our retirement home in Mission Viejo and moving back to Orange County from Arizona. CBR Contracting installed new vinyl plank flooring after properly removing both wood and carpet from the existing floor. They also removed a huge wall mirror and wall wood shelving that was outdated. All of this work was coordinated and completed before we moved in with Robert from Arizona. At first everything was spot on, the team were professional and fast as time goes by to finish and they agreed upon some slight changes and they pretty much left it "done", I even payed extra for extra materials and kept saying they will fix it for months. I was trying to be patient and hopeful that they will fix it but after so many back to back texts, they were just ghosting me. The wood is bowing and not straight, left the edges unfinished, they even cut the edge end piece wrong instead of slanted to hide the seem, even used a thin wood to support the trex..I payed a lot for this and it's a bummer I was left with some horrible finishes, and even used glue to think it will hold nicely. I found CBR through Yelp and after reading the reviews I decided to request a quote for a bathroom remodel for the home we are moving into. Everything you've read about Robert is true! He is very easy to communicate with and spent a good amount of time with us in explaining the process for renovating and understanding what we wanted done. What I liked best about Robert was that he had a genuine interest to help us and didn't try to push anything extra. Some contractors we met with would try to get us to buy from whatever partner they had for laminate floors or tiles, etc, but I didn't feel that kind of pressure from Robert. He was super nice and understanding of our budget and that's something we definitely appreciate! He even took the extra time to come out on a weekend and let us know what measurements we needed for the vanity and shower tile! Our Fabulous Contractor Robert, CBR Contracting, and his crew were responsive and results oriented and able to overcome every issue with no conflict and complete gutting of our kitchen and installing new cabinets, fabricating quartz counters with waterfall edges, constructing a moveable island table, tiling our fireplace, and installing new flooring in 3 weeks. Robert has a can do attitude, is committed and oversees his crew effectively. He provided us a competitive reasonable price after considering six other proposals.
