Great BBQ hidden within North Shore Pizza Icon! We stopped by CB's Bistro last month and were surprised to see several BBQ items on the menu. We tried the ribs and a brisket sandwich. Both were perfectly cooked and flavorfully sauced. The housemade sides were a great complement. And the prices in the $20 range were exceptional values. A good selection of craft beers on tap balanced the food well. My choice was the Moon Time Hazy IPA from Morgan Territory. The meal was so good that we went back last week. This time, we tried the brisket tacos, which combined the beef with extra-thick housemade tortillas and two housemade sauces, one pepper-based and the other avocado-based. Delicious! And the price of $20 was a bargain. Sandwiched between the Carnelian Bay Post Office and 7-11, across from Sierra Boat Works, it's the perfect place for a casual Tahoe night out. read more

Zach serves the BEST burgers in the north shore of Tahoe. A double patty, and the thing is, the meat is so flavorful. Lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, cheese, AND jalapeños too. And the buns are super fresh. Can't say enough good things about CB's! read more

CB's was a fantastic experience, it's a restaurant where you get so much more than just food. The ambience and laid back demeanor of the place itself, the music, the artwork, so deliberate in its attitude. If you're a dead-head this will be your favorite spot to visit due to the music and the indie artwork that covers the walls. The pizza hit the spot, crispy and delicious, we went with a thin crust and that's not easy to get right! This restaurant is touted as a local favorite and you could see that when you walked in. This place earned my respect and my appreciation up front. The drinks were cold and the attitude was warm, we felt 100% welcome and invited. Our kids are great judges on vibes and demeanor and they loved it there. Zach is a South Carolina native that brings a much needed hospitality and relaxation to a town that stresses presentation to the affluent, he's the most down to earth business owner I've met in over 20 years of taking trips to Tahoe. My BF's dad lives near CBs, so we come here a lot when we are visiting. Not only is the location nice, but we like that their prices aren't too steep and the food is pretty decent. TL;DR: They have pretty consistent food. Very interesting crust texture that makes them very unique. It's similar to a dry breadstick. It's got that dry and airy texture. Very unlike any crust I've had. Overall not bad and fairly reliable. LOCATION/PARKING: They are located in Carnelian Bay Center, which is a small little shopping center off of N Lake Blvd in Carnelian Bay. They are across from the 7-Eleven and to the left of the post office. Parking can get pretty packed on a busy season, because they mostly have a row of spots in front and a few in front of the 7-Eleven and on the other side of the restaurant. ATMOSPHERE: Their decor is pretty classic. They have a bunch of cool retro collectible vintage lunch boxes from old TV Shows and stuff displayed around the dining area. It's a decent sized place with a good number of tables but for pandemic, they narrowed it down to about 3-4 tables inside, and a few in their little outdoor area. SERVICE: The servers were pretty friendly but service was really slow on a not very busy evening. There were maybe 2-3 other parties in the restaurant total. It took almost an hour for us to get our food. We were also given the wrong pizza so they had to do make the right one which took a little while again. They have their menu online on their website, where you can also place an order ahead of time. They list their daily specials and special events there as well. They have some variety in the daily specials which I appreciate. FOOD: They have really a interesting crust texture. It's very dry and airy like a crispy dry breadstick. Very unique and I can imagine it to be very polarizing especially for people who prefer the classic doughy crusts. We got the large Garlic Chips, a build your own Pizza, a bowl of Clam Chowder, the California Classic pizza, and the Caesar Salad. The pizzas were pretty good. I liked that the BYO pizza came with two crust options. I prefer the thicker one personally but other people in my group opted for the thin. I chose the white sauce, thick crust, and Artichoke, Prosciutto and Arugula for my toppings. The clam chowder was as expected. Nothing special but filling. I liked the Garlic Chips, good cheese flavor and went really went with marinara dipping sauce. I really want to try the Dough Knots next time. PRICE: The large Garlic Chips are $16.75, which are just $.50 more than a large cheese pizza, so you're not really saving much there but the flavors were at least good. Overall, the menu items are priced as I would expect. The individual entrees are around $10-$15 and the special pizzas are around $8-$25 depending on the size. The BYO pizza is priced as: slice $4, mini $6.75, small $10.25, GF small $14.25, medium $14.50, and large $17.25, with toppings being about $1-$1.75 extra. read more

I will need to confess that I did lot find this fabulous restaurant. My wife made new friends that referred her. We selected a range of Pizza pies that definitely was a crowd pleaser. As I walked in for pickup I wished I was staying to eat. The restaurant had a great locals feel and you could tell that the owners selected everything that meant something to them, from the tables to the special wooden chairs that all looked hand crafted. We have been customers for about 26 years and have seen the ups and downs. Congratulations to the new owners and we hope for the best. We had lunch recently and overall it was very good. Most problems we saw are now common at Tahoe stemming from the lack of employees that can afford to live here. Wish we took photos... this place was a nice surprise and hidden gem. We almost didn't go because of reviews but went to give it a try. We enjoyed a delicious smoked chicken salad, crispy tater tots, custom smoked pulled pork and mozzarella calzone and a pulled pork sandwich too. Give this gem a try. Great food and atmosphere. As locals we eat here a lot! From the burgers to pizza to potato's skins it's all great.

It was just ok, food was decent - I and my kids liked it but my wife was not too impressed - she is more of a foody. The main complaints are about service, I did a takeout order and my food was ready 30 minutes later than it was supposed to be, they didn't include ranch for the pizza (which we paid extra for), and they actually gave us the wrong pizza. The pizza, even though it wasn't what we ordered, was actually pretty good, it just wasn't what we ordered. We also had a burger which was pretty good, kids cheese burger that my son loved, and cheese kids pizza which my daughter enjoyed. If they get the service tightened up I would have been pretty happy as the food was good enough to warrant another visit. read more

This place is A-ok! We came here for lunch and were able to find a shaded table. Each table has a laminated card on it which indicates whether or not the table has been sanitized after the last guest. Good to know we were sitting at a clean table. I had one of the Friday specials which was a caesar salad with salmon. The salad was good but the salmon was kind of tough. My hubby had a meatball sub which he enjoyed, but it needed more sauce. The teen had the stand out dish of the meal - a mini pizza. They brought our carafes of soda which was a great touch. read more

Very basic. I wouldn't necessarily call this a bistro. More of a bar sells food. Had pizza, clam chow, big veggie salad, and side salad. The big veggie was mix greens with pizza toppings. The dressing options were very basic. If anyone has recommendations for a good restaurant in Tahoe please let me know. read more

Do not waste any money here. We've lived here for years and we try it once a year and today set a new low. All pizzas were burned, burgers cold, service a disaster, super slow, pepperoni thrown on after it came out of the oven, roasted garlic was raw. I could go on but trust me when I tell you it's disgusting and a waste of time and money. I'd eat at 7-11 before I'd go back. Gross. Deserves 0 stars. read more

Went last night. This is a place I've been going to since the 1980's. I may never have ordered a burger before, always pizza or another entree. I ordered a burger with Gorgonzola and bacon. It was monster size and everything I hoped it would be. The onion bun was super fresh tasting, soft and flavorful. Very tasty cheese, bacon and pickle. Next time I will order it for two. Got sweet potato fries. Not my thing very often, but the mood seized me, and they were terrific. The restaurant was doing a huge business in takeout on the Fourth of July, but my server was very pleasant if distracted. I had coffee which they made fresh for me, and it was fine. There were a couple of very young girls behind the counter. At first I sat at the bar and was ignored, then I saw the sign that said "please wait to be seated" so I got up and stood. It still took what seemed like a long time for anyone to acknowledge me, and I was asked, "have you been helped?" The girls were doing things like folding pizza boxes, not waiting on other customers. Maybe next time I'll wear a funny hat. Food, five stars without question!! Service, more like three...so I end up at four stars. To quote Schwarzenegger: "I'll be back." read more

We were at Lake Tahoe on a multi-family vacation. We phoned in an order for several pizzas for a total price based on the menu of $175.75 plus taxes. What we discovered when we picked up the pizza is that there are additional fees which are buried in the fine print on the menu which we didn't see and they didn't tell us about when we phoned in the order. They add a 18% "Service Charge" on take out orders over $100. They add an additional 3% if you use a credit card which we did. These fees added an additional $40.04 which brought our total cost to $215.79 plus taxes. In the end we payed a premium price for pizzas which were average at best. The moral of the story with CB's Bistro is look for the fine print and ask for a total price when ordering take out so there are no surprises. read more

cute little bistro right next to 7/11! my grandpa, dad, and i were out on lake tahoe all day and wanted to grab a bite to eat. we docked at Gar Wood's pier and were gonna go to gar wood's restaurant but they didn't allow dogs. not even on the deck. we walked about 0.15 miles to CB's bistro and they allowed our service dog inside with us. staff was super accommodating and friendly. I ordered a small 10' thin crust pizza with mushroom, garlic, tomato, and white sauce. it had lots of cheese but was super good! loved the crust. my dad and grandpa split the chicken club sandwich i believe, and they also each had a piece of my pizza. we all enjoyed our food and would come back if given the chance :) way less expensive than gar woods and the food was pretty quick to come out. read more

We went to this place with my family and since the beginning we noticed that the waiter was a little moody. We asked him for the drink menu and he rolled his eyes at us and just left. With every order and change we made he would make a face, sighed annoyed and then just leave. Have of the things in the menu they didn't have. Whenever we're about to leave, he went outside chasing my dad, demanding a tip and then my aunt (who was here for a visit) explained to him what we felt during the visit and how uncomfortable we felt. He answered ok, well you should go back to the border. We felt so offended, so we asked him to apologize and a blond girl at the restaurant and him started laughing so we asked to speak with a manager and he claimed to be the owner. He was calling us liars to our face, and then asked his costumers if they had heard something. It was so humiliating. Don't asume because of race how much we are going to tip, and then base that assumption and apply it to your crappy service read more

I will give this restaurant one start since I cannot give zero. There was nobody else working at the restaurant but the owner and his behavior was the worst customer service. He was rude, was making faces, rolling his eyes at us, and even going as far to throw our food at our table. We didn't tip him but he went the extra mile to chase us into the parking lot and ask why we didn't leave a him a tip. You tip the restaurant when you have a good service which we obviously didn't. He is the owner, which makes it more embarrassing. read more
