I was impressed with the ceviche from Cebichelsea. When it comes to ceviche, there's really no hiding; the ingredients need to speak for themselves. And even with my delivery order, the ingredients were great. The catch of the day fish was definitely fresh; the "tiger milk" marinade was packed full of citrus and spice; and the sweet potato side was a great contrast, almost soothing alongside the spicy ceviche. And the spicy sauce on the side is in fact spicy. Don't underestimate the punch that it packs, add it to your bowl with care. The short and sweet: The service was nice and quick. Came in on Saturday around lunch, they gave the recommendation of the Steak Stir Fry, and was able to get it in about ten minutes. The fries were crispy and the red onions and steak tasted pretty good. For good tasting quick bites at about a $20 price point, I was pretty happy with my overall experience. Don't worry about the low rating and little reviews, it's worth the try! I got the Peruvian Paella as it caught my eye first thing on the menu though other items sounded good too. After digging in nearly an hour later and the rice still warm, it was FULL of flavor. The serving size may not seem much at glance but it was quite the HEAVY meal as I felt done eating when I was not even halfway through. I shared with two friends who had their own dish but there was still a bit of leftover. I ordered it as non-spicy but there was still a scoop of REALLY SPICY sauce to the side. One con was I found the rice a bit too soft for my preference unless this is just how paella is supposed to be. Exotic Peruvian place in a bougie food court? Sounds like NYC. Z. and his parents and I were stopping here for a quick late lunch and were delighted to find that there were so many options here. Cebichelsea is located in the bottom level of The Oculus at WTC next to pizza, sushi, sandwich places. Proof of vaccination grants you seating at the communal food court. There are plenty of tables so this place can definitely accommodate a lunch rush. I ordered the Peruvian paella and watched the nice gentleman taking my order promptly cook the meal behind him. The pans are just sitting there, hot and ready to be used. I watched him add squid, fish, shrimp along with arborio rice, heavy cream, some veggies. After ~5 minutes of cooking he then topped the dish with some fresh greens and what seems like mayonnaise. Overall the dish is a 4/5. It's filling, got some sneaky heat, and tastes kind of like mac n cheese. Adding a photo here because it looks rather different from the website (which shows clams and whole shrimp which I did not get). I recommend giving this place a shot at least! read more

I'd been craving Peruvian food for a couple of weeks back home in Houston. When I saw Cebichelsea's menu, I was hooked. My hub and I shared the fish ceviche and the Tallarin a la Huancaina. I had the Chica Morada and my hub had a Cuzqueña. Was all just like back home in Peru. The meat in the tallarín was cooked perfect. The huancaina sauce was amazing. The ceviche was fantastic. Ordered the pollo saltado. The fries tasted rancid and disgusting, as if they had been fried in old oil. The chicken was actually undercooked and some pieces were partially raw. The rice was overcooked and mushy. I love pollo saltado but this is the worst version I've ever had. I would not order from this place again and I do not recommend it. read more

Stopped by with a friend, thinking Mission Ceviche was still there but we're pleasantly surprised to see this similar-style joint. We got a large ceviche to share. The owner told us that they are now independently owned and that he used to work for Mission Ceviche, he was very nice and courteous and gave us little samples of their menu. Obviously people are going to compare it to it's predecessor but I think the food quality is the same (after all the person running it used to be a cook for Mission Ceviche). They are a bit understaffed because they just opened recently so service might be at bit slow, but I'm happy to support any fellow Peruvian. People need to be more open minded and try to give the place a fair shot but I do suggest that you stick to the ceviche and ask for more spice on the side (I love my ceviche spicy and the spice used didn't do it for me). read more
