    Beef Rise (Seco Norteno)

Not a bad bite, per se, just not my thing. The beef ($20) was on the drier side and the rice was super hard and undercooked (like, crunchy). The beans saved the day--creamy and super garlicky, would've tasted superb with some better rice. Service was brisk--it's a food hall, so they give you a buzzer and you're free to dilly dally in the oculus mall until your food is ready (less than 10 min). Good to try but probs won't be back.

The short and sweet: The service was nice and quick. Came in on Saturday around lunch, they gave the recommendation of the Steak Stir Fry, and was able to get it in about ten minutes. The fries were crispy and the red onions and steak tasted pretty good. For good tasting quick bites at about a $20 price point, I was pretty happy with my overall experience. Seating is shared between all the other vendors within the Gansevoort Market and may be limited at times. Getting there: I entered through the Occulus and followed signs to the food court; wasn't able to find it my first time around based purely on the maps

Don't worry about the low rating and little reviews, it's worth the try! I got the Peruvian Paella as it caught my eye first thing on the menu though other items sounded good too. After digging in nearly an hour later and the rice still warm, it was FULL of flavor. The serving size may not seem much at glance but it was quite the HEAVY meal as I felt done eating when I was not even halfway through. I shared with two friends who had their own dish but there was still a bit of leftover. I ordered it as non-spicy but there was still a scoop of REALLY SPICY sauce to the side. One con was I found the rice a bit too soft for my preference unless this is just how paella is supposed to be. Regardless of all this, I would be down to try something else off the menu if I was to come to the Gansevoort Liberty Market again.

Pio Pio has been on my radar for a while, and I finally made it in -- and for the most part, I'm…read morereally happy I did. First, the space: it's genuinely cute. All the seating is downstairs, which gives it a cozy, tucked-away feel that works really well for the vibe of the place. It's the kind of spot that feels casual but intentional -- like someone actually thought about how it should look and feel. Now, the food -- and this is where Pio Pio truly shines. The fried chicken is an absolute standout. It's the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite and just appreciate what's happening. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked -- but the real star of the show? The cilantro dressing that comes alongside it. I cannot overstate how good this dressing is. It's fresh, bright, and herby in all the right ways, and it elevates the chicken from great to genuinely memorable. If you come here for nothing else, come for this. On the drinks front, they offer a surprisingly solid selection of non-alcoholic options -- which is always a welcome sight. The non-alcoholic wines in particular are worth noting; they have quite a variety, which is rare and appreciated. The drinks are decent overall -- nothing that blew me away, but a solid complement to the meal. The one area where Pio Pio falls short, unfortunately, is the service. We waited quite a while before our waiter came by, and the slow attentiveness continued through the meal. It's a bit of a shame, because the food and ambience really set you up for a great experience -- and sluggish service does take some of the shine off. Hopefully this is something they iron out over time, because everything else here has real potential. Bottom line: come for the fried chicken and cilantro dressing, enjoy the charming downstairs setting, and just mentally prepare yourself to be patient with the service. The food alone makes it worth the visit.

The first thing placed on the table was their famous aji verde, the vibrant green sauce. I couldn't resist dipping my fork in for a taste--spicy, fresh, and absolutely addictive. We ordered a spread that truly showcased the menu: Mama Juanita's rotisserie chicken, perfectly seasoned and juicy; corvina; and a ceviche mixto loaded with shrimp, octopus, calamari, red onions, cilantro, rocoto pepper, and lime juice. It was so refreshing and flavorful that I found myself spooning up every last drop of the citrusy marinade. The lomo saltado was another standout--a savory Peruvian stir-fry with marinated strips of beef, served alongside crispy fries. We also added a side of maduros, their sweetness balancing the meal beautifully. The ambiance was casual, comfortable, and simple, with unique walls decorated in intertwined tree branches that added a rustic touch. The service matched the food--our waiter, the busboy, and the manager were all attentive, engaging, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Dessert was Tres Leches Cake. One bite in, and it basically melts in your mouth- no chewing required. It's sweet, soggy and by the end, you're not sure if you ate cake... or drank it--but either way, no regrets. Overall, it was a memorable meal full of bold flavors, great company, and warm hospitality.

La Pulperia offers all-you-can-drink mimosas for $40 or their brunch cocktails for $60 for a 90-minute sitting. I had the all-you-can-drink cocktails and my glass was never empty. The staff was great and very attentive - they would check in before bringing a new drink, but it was never long before it was delivered. The food was also delicious. We started with guacamole and corn & manchego empanadas. The guacamole was obviously fresh, and the empanadas were hot and cheesy. I had the Pulled Pork Tostada - it came with two eggs on top of beans, tortillas, and tender pulled pork. My mom had the burger, and it was cooked to perfection and huge. My aunt had the Market Salad with Skirt Steak, and she raved about the steak. Now the show - the show was AMAZING! The queens were engaging, and their dance moves were unreal! It was one of the best drag shows I have ever seen! It would get a 20 out of 10 if that were possible. What a great experience, it was one of the highlights of our trip.

But you order at the front, pick up your own food, box it yourself when you are done, and discard your own trash. I was the server today. That should be noted upfront because the website does not exactly make that clear. That said, the food was good. I got a stir fry dish with beef, fries, tomatoes and platanos. Mama bear got a Spanish chaufa which is basically the Peruvian version of fried rice. She seemed to enjoy it. I also got a side of squash soup which was pretty good. We washed it all down with Jarritos, the Mexican soda. Solid choice. Now the restroom situation. Chirp does not have a public restroom. My mom was bothered by that and I could see her starting to make it a thing. I had to nip that in the bud. I get it, I understand, but that is not the hill I die on. No restroom, no worries. It is what it is. The cashier was nice. The food got me full quick. I brought some home for wifey since she is a fan of Spanish food too. Overall Chirp is fine for what it is. It is more of a quick meal and delivery spot than a dinner service restaurant. If you go in knowing that you will probably enjoy it. If you go in expecting a proper sit down experience like I did, you might be caught off guard. Now you know.

We had tickets for the Lion King Broadway show so I asked about my entree & they told me it was being prepared. Since we were short on time, I talked to the hostess, explained the situation & asked if they could cancel my entree since I had already shared the appetizers with my husband & didn't want to inhale my main course before running out to the show. She was very nice about it. Apologized for the delay (which wasn't really their fault) & offered me a free drink if I came back. I never got to take her up on that offer because we left New York the following day. I didn't get to sample any of the entrees but the appetizers were decent & just for the customer service I would go back.

We ordered the octopus, tuna tartare, skirt steak, and chicken, along with a margarita and the Palermo Mezcal cocktail. Every single item was exceptional. Even the complimentary bread that came out at the beginning was a 10/10. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we loved being able to watch the kitchen prepare our food from our table. It's a small kitchen, which makes it even more impressive that they're consistently turning out such thoughtful and delicious dishes. I noticed some reviews mentioning slow service, but I honestly think those people missed the entire point of the experience. Palermo isn't meant to be rushed. The atmosphere is cozy, intimate, and feels like you're sitting in someone's living room enjoying a meal they've carefully prepared just for you. We never felt pressured to order quickly or rushed through our meal, which made the experience even better. Every dish was meticulously prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor.
