Where do I even start?! My bestie and I have been dying to try this restaurant for years. The ambiance is the real star here, but the food is spectacular as well. We made reservations and requested outside dining on the reservation and at the host stand. We were seated in a prime spot right in the front on the water! The views are absolutely stunning. Perfect for a special occasion, date night, girls night, family night, all of the above! The service was top notch. We never felt rushed and were so well taken care of. We split the calamari to start. It was so fresh and I loved the lemon aioli with it. Perfect for sharing and a very large portion! For my entree, I had the cacio e pepe truffle pasta. Just next level!!!! I would get this every time. It is definitely worth the splurge, especially if you are a truffle lover. I can't wait to come back here for the views and the food! I visited this restaurant for the first time for lunch, and unfortunately, it will be my last. While the restaurant offers a beautiful view and the service was decent, the food was terrible--especially considering how expensive the bill was for what we received. The quality of the meals was incredibly poor. I ordered a chicken salad, and it was easily the worst salad I have ever eaten. The chicken was super hard, really burnt, and completely lacked flavor. My husband and our friend both ordered pasta dishes, and the noodles were completely overcooked and mushy. The only saving graces of the entire meal were the drinks and the meatball appetizer, which were decent. Beyond that, the main courses were a massive letdown. THE WORST REST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES Avoid this place at all costs, the service was horrendous, the waiters and bartenders were beyond nasty and rude, it took us half an hour to an hour to get anyone for drinks, appetizers, and our main courses and the check at the end too! Me and my GF literally had to get up and walk across the entire restaurant to even get a waiter after 30 - 45 min. The views you get from this restaurants are outstanding. We were here on a beautiful evening for dinner and overall enjoyed our experience. The Ceasar salad they had as a special that day was delicious and our appetizer (Avocado & chickpea dip) was fantastic and plentiful! The ravioli were good. Staff was very attentive, even to the point where it got a little busy because there were so many servers everywhere. We got there right before the later dinner rush. Noise wise I would like to mention that there is a train going by every 30 to 60 seconds outside and it can get really loud. Located inside The Time Out Market plaza you will find Cecconi's. It is a finer dining moment, with a view. The architecture and decor is beautiful. I really wanted to fall in love with this restaurant. But, I just couldn't. I had high expectations for this and it just didn't meet them. You certainly are paying for the location, 100%. The food was not horrible, but I expected a little more presentation. Just like a wedding cake it needs to both look beautiful and taste good. Cecconi's is beautiful, but the food was not meeting my expectations. My friend ordered the eggplant parmesan. It came out as just a piece placed inside a dish with melted cheese on top. It did not photograph well, nor did it taste spectacular. She was not highly impressed. I opted for the lobster and spaghetti. The name itself did not bring pizazz. I thought it would be similar to lobster fra diavolo. It was, but the sauce was very light. It just touched the pasta. It was served with half a lobster. It did taste ok, it was slightly bland. Service was fantastic! They really hit the mark there. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful when we were placing our order. The hostess stand could have been a little more engaging and inviting. When Angela' Yee on Power 106 recommends a restaurant on her own - without being prompted or paid - that's one thing, but when it's for our anniversary? That's another. My wife and I were in Brooklyn on the way to fly out of town and Angela recommended Cecconi's. She knows we like seafood and waterfront scenery. This was perfect. It's right by both the Brooklyn & Washington bridges so after a delicious meal with first class service we had delicious ice cream next door (even had vegan ice cream since I can't have dairy). The wait staff paid such attention to detail they even changed the salad dressing based on my sensitivity to garlic. The branzino was excellent. The wood fired pizza was spot on and perfectly balanced. I like sweet wine and the moscato wine was perfectly matched. I have to add that we were 30 minutes late and the staff still worked us in ... and then we had an extremely loud guy talking about his family's junk that was so annoying we asked to be moved and the hostess even though she was busy accommodated. At a time when service has seemed to be going backwards Ceccini's is hands down one of the best service minded restaurants I have ever witnessed anywhere in the world. Period. If you need a fancy spot to celebrate a special occasion (or impress out of towners) with beautiful food in a picturesque location, it's hard to do better than Cecconi's. This restaurant is aesthetically pleasing in every way. The room is gorgeous with a magnificent bar and a roaring fire burning in the pizza oven, and the well-appointed tables outside on the DUMBO waterfront offer comfortable seats as you take in the view of the Manhattan Bridge and some of the best people watching anyone could ask for. The service is excellent (shout out to my man Sal who was almost TOO friendly), and they'll guide you through whatever sort of meal you want to eat. I've been to Cecconi's on a few occasions, but this last one was a late lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday, and Cecconi's was the right choice. We shared several stunning plates, and the food and drink ALMOST lives up to the atmosphere. Cocktails are well executed, and we indulged in the veal tonnata, the calamari, and the whipped ricotta to start and all were excellent. I highly recommend the burrata as well, and any pizza you get will be stellar (we rolled with the potato pie this time around, but I really love the nduja). Our salmon was extremely well cooked, and my only disappointment this time around was the agnolotti, where the sauce was missing something (probably acid) to take it to the next level. As you can imagine, the drawback at Cecconi's is that the prices are a little silly. It is what it is, as you are paying for the room and the view in addition to excellent food, but the small mistakes are less forgivable when it costs so much. I'll keep this simple: Cecconi's Dumbo is not worth your money, and it's definitely not worth one of your precious meals if you're visiting NYC for a short trip. Our party ordered the rigatoni bolognese ($36), margherita pizza ($26), ahi tuna tartare ($28), endive salad ($25), and spinach & ricotta ravioli ($32). The best way I can describe every single dish: cafeteria food with a fine dining price tag. Nothing tasted bad necessarily, but nothing tasted good either. No depth, no finesse, no sign that anyone in that kitchen was trying to do anything beyond the bare minimum. At these prices, you expect polish. You expect some level of craft or creativity. Instead, everything felt extraordinarily basic - like dishes assembled by someone who had read about Italian food but never really felt it. Visually, same story. No care in the presentation whatsoever. I came in with low expectations based on reviews and photos I'd seen beforehand, and it still managed to disappoint. Unfortunately it was a family gathering so I had no say in the matter. But if you DO have a choice, use it - because there are so many better options in Brooklyn and Manhattan at this price point that will actually make you feel good about your meal. Cecconi's has a beautiful atmosphere and great views, but unfortunately the overall experience was underwhelming. From the moment we arrived, the hostess stand made us feel uncomfortable. When I said I had a reservation, I was met with skeptical looks as if I was mistaken. After giving my first name, they said they couldn't find it and asked if it might be under another name. I then provided my last name, and one of the hostesses proceeded to list off reservations around my time before finally saying my name. I confirmed it was me, and there was an audible "oh" from the four women at the stand that made it feel like I wasn't expected to be there. It immediately left a bad taste in my mouth. On a positive note, our waiter David was excellent, friendly, attentive, and very hospitable throughout the meal. As for the food, it didn't live up to the hype. The calamari was chewy, lacked crispiness, and the breading was falling off. The prosciutto pizza was just okay, and the rigatoni bolognese had very little flavor, if any at all. Cecconi's Dumbo unfortunately did not live up to all of the hype one of my girlfriends gave it. I went here for a birthday party & I will say that I greatly appreciate them holding the table for us despite the birthday girl herself being half an hour late. They certainly didn't have to do that but graciously accommodated. With that being said, for exclusively the service & ambience of this place it is 5 stars. However, the food was extremely lackluster & very overpriced for what it was that made me give Cecconi's 2 stars. In no particular order, here's everything we had- Meatballs- I'm not sure how the meatballs could've been so dry despite being doused in tomato sauce. Couldn't finish it. Tuna Tartare- not good at all, the tuna didn't taste fresh. Also, there wasn't much tuna given to begin with not that it actually mattered since again, it wasn't fresh. Caesar Salad- this was fine, but how can you mess up a Caesar salad? Black Truffle Pizza- honestly, actually worth the money & is quite tasty. Yes $50+ for a pizza is a bit absurd but this was great. If I learned anything from everything I ate, it's stick to the wood-fired pizzas. Bucatini cacio e pepe, black truffle- while the black truffle pizza was quite tasty, the black truffle pasta wasn't good at all & definitely not worth the price. I don't know exactly what it is but it tasted off. Maybe it's because I prefer cacio e pepe to be exactly what it's supposed to be- solely pasta and pepper. Either way, I wouldn't recommend th Spaghetti, Maine lobster, chili- would've been great if there was actually a decent amount of lobster in it to begin with. There was a lovely reasonably sized lobster shell- conveniently with absolutely no lobster underneath the shell. Tiramisu- along with the black truffle pizza, the only other great thing on the menu. It was very creamy & I'd get this...just to-go at that. We also had a variety of drinks including a bottle of tasi prosecco, a tea amo, & a cherry punch. None of them stood out, especially not the prosecco which was flat! All in all, Cecconi's unfortunately all in all disappointed me & I don't see myself going back. read more

Been wanting to visit this restaurant forever. Finally got a chance on a rainy, stormy Monday night. You'd think everyone would be home in such weather, but during summer in NYC, even Monday night is packed and you need a reservation. Very upscale, chic atmosphere, perfect for any kind of special occasion. Or a treat for yourself! Would pass the whole day in the atmosphere and not notice time. This is a place to relish. Heads up, the AC gets really coooold, so bring jackets. I couldn't feel my toes or fingers. Due to all the conversations and good acoustics of the place, it's gets really loud, so prepare to strain your voice. That was not very relaxing. The prices reflect the location and ambiance. Prepare to pay a pretty penny. $44 salmon (perfectly crispy skin, but not enough sauce) was tasty but nothing to write home about. Same goes for $40 lamb pasta (big, filling portion). $16 Flourless chocolate torte was stunning and the highlight of our meal. Very decadent and perfect for sharing after a filling meal. Service was impeccable. Loved our waitress, with her tact, grace, and recommendations. My boyfriend made a reservation for this place one day for a celebratory dinner and it did not disappoint! Not only was service very diligent but the food was also amazing! Starting off, the ambiance of the restaurant is very elegant and intimate due to its dim lighting which already was a good first impression. After we ordered, we quickly received the Gnocchi Romana, Gorgonzola fondula as our appetizer. I was not a huge fan of this one because it tasted a little like truffle to me and I am not a fan of truffle but my boyfriend really enjoyed it with its light and creamy texture. Secondly, we got the Rigatoni Bolognese and the Salmon. The Rigatoni Bolognese was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce had a nice tang from the tomato base. The Salmon however did arrive a little underdone which we pointed out to our server who fixed it right away and it came back perfect! We finished the night sharing a tiramisu which was not too sweet because of the bitterness of the coffee. We both enjoyed it and devoured it even though we were already stuffed from our main courses. I didn't have a reservation on a busy Saturday afternoon, and I was accompanied by two little girls in strollers. We arrived to find a line out the door and no available tables online to make a reservation, so I thought there was no way we would be able to get a table. However, the ladies at the host stand were incredibly accommodating. They assured me that not only would they find us a table, but they also seated us outside right by the water. Our server, Alan, was fantastic with the girls, and the entire bussing staff was attentive and efficient. We ordered pizza, meatballs, side of avocado, burrata, octopus, and ahi tuna tartare. Everything was delicious! It's not breaded and fried like your typical calamari and it's just kind of flavorless and expensive for a small serving. The Bolognese, cavatelli and Bucatini are all good. Eggplant parm had good flavor. Chicken paillard was tasty, large serving and fresh. Tiramisu is out of this world. The bartender Patrick makes the best cocktails I would suggest sitting at the bar if you can't get a table. Cocktails are pretty expensive. The restaurant itself is large and gorgeous and of course the outdoor views are beautiful. It's a solid spot, but the food isn't necessarily as good as it should be for the price point. read more

Not only did take longer than expected to be seated (half the restaurant seating was open...), once seated and we ordered, the waiters barely came by. We had empty glasses for 90% of the meal. My friend, who is now a Brooklynite, lives in Dumbo and wanted me to have a quintessential Dumbo experience. Cecconi's is a spacious restaurant with a lot of seating indoors and a bit less inside, so there can be quite a wait for the outdoor tables given how lovely the outdoor seating and views are. We had a surprise 60th birthday dinner for my mom here. I totally forgot to take pictures of the food. I would say the water front view and the ambiance is what really made this a 4 star experience . The food didn't set it apart from any other restaurant ...it was just okay. The dishes I enjoyed: Calamari . Bruschetta . Vegetables . Salads Dishes that were okay (not terrible) : Salmon (we found it salty) . Chicken (was cut wayy too thin and therefore dry) another fish. I forget I think it was cod it wasn't scaled properly so you couldn't have a bite of it without tasting the crunch of the scales.
