This "nonna-approved" marketplace debuted behind the minds of Italian couple Francesco Lucatorto and Francesca Pistorio. Armed with experience across multiple standout LA restaurants as well as their own pasta pop-up operation (Ceci's Oven), the couple returned to Los Angeles after the pandemic to channel family recipes into their Italian specialty grocer. Now, the focaccia sandwiches have eclipsed the lasagna as the go-to order. Towering umbrellas obscure the minimalist cursive font on the facaded storefront. Mustard-yellow metal patio furniture is readily available along the shaded sidewalk. Inside, the tiny shop toes the line between cozy and cramped. Appliances and coffee fixings are balanced on tables straight out of a country kitchen. Every foot of the wall space is decorated with framed photos, news articles, and homey tchotchkes. The top-lit suppli-and-bakery display is fully encased, while the rainbow of focaccia varieties is left open to the air. A trim merch shelf features focaccia-themed snapbacks and Italian coffee beans. Modern acoustic music plays around the room. I've visited a few times to sample Ceci's focaccia sandwiches. The bread is finger-thick, crisp-skinned, and moderately oily -- expect greasy fingers when handling the sandwiches. The toppings are modest-to-moderate in portion; don't be surprised to feel peckish afterward. I preferred the salty, lemon-forward Crudo & Ricotta combination, although the hamburger-style tomato slices felt superfluous. Meanwhile, on the Il Mortazza, the rich mortadella and burrata mostly outperformed the delicate arugula and bland eggplant. The fried Suppli croquette was memorably odd, between the fish stick-esque battering and the arroz rojo-like flavor. The service was memorably friendly, and a focaccia sando will set you back $20. Ultimately, I probably won't be a repeat player at Ceci's. Although I don't have any major criticisms about the flavor and execution of the focaccia sandwiches, they aren't even the best on the block (that honor belongs to LaSorted's, where Italian sandos are cheaper, heartier, and tastier). read more

Ceci's is one of my favorite places in Silverlake.. although there usually is very limited street parking, Ceci's is definitely worth the stop. They're a very yellow and pretty cafe located street side between a pink building that is a Taco restaurant and a really delicious cafe called 6XS Studio. I ordered the Crudo&Ricotta sandwich with their freshly made focaccia which is flavorful, soft, and light which is mid-day, lunch time approved. The prosciutto and ricotta is flavorful and absolutely delicious... I also had the opportunity to order a slice of the Tora Della Nonna which was the perfect amount of sweet, flaky, and crunchy all in one slice of dessert. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time considering it was time for the lunch rush. The surrounding area is also very nice, but can be pretty busy traffic-wise. So goood....ooey gooey cheese with grilled to perfection zucchini in a marinara sauce. The focaccia was soft & perfect for this sandwich. Oh, my goodness. First of all, the owner Francesco is eye candy with a vibrant and sultry Italian accent. He literally had me at hello. He handicrafts his beloved Grandmother's recipes into divine eats and i couldnt be happier. From hoise made vanilla syrup to savory sauces that simmer for SEVERAL hours, he is an artist and pays homage to his origins which I respect. They have everything from Imported juices and water to soups and salads and decadent desserts. I will be back to try more! They serve bread and coffee and bottled refreshments. Main item: Focaccia bread with different ingredients on top. They also sell other sweets: brioche, pie, Frittatas and pasta as well as merch. I I tried the Focaccia with no toppings and the pomodori that had cherry tomato and oregano. I must go back and try their pasta. Still good after a day. I even put cheese on top of the plain Focaccia i had left over and it was delish. Not busy in the morning on a weekday. Good for pick up and to go orders. Friendly and quick staff. Metered parking. I'm always on the search for great focaccia and Ceci's has that. I ordered the meatball sandwich with added buratta. It was good. It could have had more salt and the bottom was soggy even though I ate it as soon as it arrived. Mom ordered a veggie sandwich, which I enjoyed more. You can really taste the fresh arugula. My neighbor ordered the pesto bean salad and another salad. I really enjoyed the pesto. We also shared the onion focaccia. That was fantastic. We should have ordered more. We stopped into Ceci's Gastronomia and tried the Polpette Al Sugo and the Crudo & Ricotta sandwiches; both were delicious, with really good focaccia and fillings that felt balanced rather than heavy. On my list for next time are the Il Mortazza or the Caponata, and I would also love to come back to try their pastas. If parking in the area were easier and it didn't feel like such a production to get here, I could see myself stopping by a lot more often. read more

Wanted to find a quick place to stop for lunch while in LA, we heard this spot had an amazing meatball sandwich and opted to try this place given its authentic vibes. Parking is a little difficult, but just going down one of the sides streets is plenty to find some easy spaces. We purchased the sandwich along with their lasagna al ragu as well as their tiramisu for dessert. Both dishes were very fresh and delicious. I particularly liked the lasagna! Our only gripe was the size of the dishes as we were both left pretty hungry afterwards, with both of our entrees totaling around 35$ for the two. We purchased the cannelloni with ricotta and spinach entree and the zucchini alla parmigiana. Easy to make hot at home and very delicious. The only disappointment we had was we thought the dishes were a bit on the small side. But I guess that's the price you pay for high quality food. Two entrees cost about $35. Ceci's is a great spot when I'm looking for some tasty Italian food. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I am a big fan of their desserts: their tiramisu is excellent, and I could write a massive ode to their bomboloni (which combines a tender fried dough with your choice of cream). Their torta della nonna combines flavorful pine nuts with a custardy cream, and their sbrisolona is an almond-filled cornmeal cookie that is a crunchy delight. There are still several savory items that I want to try, but I love their pissalandrea (a slice of focaccia covered with a light amount of tomato sauce, anchovies, and olives). Their suppli is a great version of this cheesy snack, and you can get wonderful espresso-based drinks too. Service is consistently friendly, and there is a moderate amount of outdoor seating if you choose to eat on site. Came here for a weekend lunch. Ordered the zucchini focaccina and the rigatoni. The focaccia bread is out of this world. Flavorful, crisp yet somehow chewy and light. Delicious. The vegetable flavors were overshadowed by the tomatoe sauce. The rigatoni was solid in our opinion. Not something that requires a return visit. A good day starts with positive attitude and great cup of Italian coffee. Without further delay let's begin this breakfast adventure. Ceci's Gastronomia (est 2020) (pronounced ché-cheeze) is a charming sun-kissed little Italian coffee/breakfast shop located on Sunset blvd in Silverlake neighborhood of LA. The store is owned by Francesco and Francesca, a hardworking Italian couple. Both have flair for food especially the husband where he has food expertise after working extensively in different high end restaurant in the US and Italy. Their indoor atmosphere and decor were relaxing and well conceived as well as their bright ebullient outdoor yellow beach umbrellas. I have driven pass by Ceci's copious times but never ventured to check it out. Since there is a dearth of Italian food shop on this side of LA, my curiosity got the best of me. Today, I arrived minutes after they opened and was warmly greeted by Sarah D., a young blonde-blue eyed lovely female staff. She guided me on their food menu given my constrained knowledge of Italian breakfast food. I ordered a Latte Macchiato and Focaccia Pomodorini. Both were a good light breakfast combo. The flat bread tomato is a joy to eat and light and best when warmed up. And it was love at first sight. Lol. ;D Service was on point and prices were fair. Staff was assiduous, brilliant and professional. Plenty of street metered parking. Overall, I enjoyed my order experience and latte/pomodorini. I highly recommend Ceci's. read more

Experience: it's a chill vibe on the sidewalk. Fast service and not too crowded. But the metal tables they have are a little janky and could use an upgrade. Mood Before/After: I was feeling fine before, a little lazy to start off my Sunday. But after, I felt pretty motivated to go do something productive! Fullness: This was a good sized sandwich. I would go again just for this alone. The latte was strong yet perfect for a windy day. I was able to get both to go and sit outside the little tables outside their small yet cute venue. I first stumbled across Francesco and Francesca's Instagram account mid-pandemic while they were cooking out of their kitchen for the community. Firstly, this couple is incredible. Their love for each other, the food, and the community are palpable. You can taste the heart and soul in their food. I'm so happy they opened a bricks-and-mortar restaurant when they returned from a few months in Italy. You cannot go wrong with any of their dishes! My absolute favorite is the Zucchine alla Parmigiana. It's full of flavor--bright, refreshing, and somehow manages to be both light but also cheesy and filling. I don't want parmigiana any other way now! Their focaccia is heavenly... a nice crisp on the outside, soft and light on the inside, and just amazing flavor of the dough and the olive oil in all the little dimples. I had also never had Gnocco alla Romana before. Semolina gnocco is thick and toothy in the best ways and add some Cacio e Pepe sauce... yes please! I could go on and on about all the dishes! Again, you can't go wrong here. So much love for Ceci's + Francesco and Francesca! Look forward to future visits and trying even more of their menu. What a difference less than a week can make. Today's sandwich was nothing like Saturday's. Immediately when I picked it up I noticed that it was less than half the size it was on Saturday. It barely had any toppings. There was a good amount of arugula on dry bread. What a bummer. The good news is, I don't have to brave traffic to come here anymore. I love this little place! I just had the eggplant and burrata on focaccia sandwich and it was soooo delicious! The eggplant was soft, tender and flavorful, the burrata was light and creamy, the arugula so fresh and the focaccia was light with a delicately crispy shell, not the usual shoe leather type of focaccia from other places. I've tried other things there and it's all excellent. This food is authentic, the Italian owners and chef are sweet and helpful. Everything is done with care and love for their customers. Incredible. You could pass by this little shop without even knowing it, but you'd have no idea what you're passing up. There's not a ton of parking besides street and a few plaza's nearby that may or may not be ok to park at. But the shop is small so expect a quick in and out anyways once u find a spot to park up at.
