    Tuna Sandwich
    Cindy L.

Ordered at the to go window because there was a wait for sit down service. Employee was friendly and happily gave us their recommendations. There is outdoor seating you're welcome to enjoy your meal at. Our food was out in less than five minutes, surprisingly fast. Bread is made in house and it was delightful. Fluffy, fresh, and balanced the fillings well. The tuna sandwich had a nice slice of iceberg lettuce which gave it a great crunch and mouthfeel. Brisket was balanced with fruit and a solid mustard. Both were ample in size. The sides were on point. The artichoke antipasti had a lot of pearl couscous but the marinated artichoke chunks were big too. Celery salad stole the show. Lovely balance of vinegar, dill, cheese, nuts, and great celery. A must get. Will come again to explore more of the menu.

Good food, excellent baked good and great service. I've been stopping by this spot every time I am near Glassell and let me say it's consistently delicious. The portions are on the smaller side but the food is well prepared, presented well and has balanced flavors. It's a bright an airy deli style place that is kind of trendy. The parking situation is terrible so bring your patience. I've had the Muffalta sandwich, the roast beef àu jus and two of the bowls now and they are all so good. If you enjoy fish the trout salad is a surprise hit!

Went for dinner on a recent Sunday evening. There was live jazz which made the place very lively. We were seated right in front of the band, which was cool but pretty loud. I've been here for breakfast and lunch and was curious to check out the dinner scene. I was initially a little underwhelmed by the dinner menu, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of what we got. Bub's Bread with Patty's Butter & Anchovies High quality sourdough bread with a generous amount of anchovies and butter. I had never had anchovies before and didn't realize how salty they were. Otherwise enjoyed the bread and butter. Roasted Butternut Squash with dates, chives, lime, duqqa This might be the most flavorful butternut squash I've ever had. The seasonings were unique and complementary. Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls with bulgur, sauerkraut, kidney beans, dill Nice flavor and balance of ingredients. Romesco Chicken - half jidori chicken with romesco sauce Initially I didn't think this sounded interesting, but it was very good. The chicken was high quality and had a lightly crispy skin. The sauce went well with it. Overall very happy to have checked out dinner here!

Someone reported my last review as using a "chatbot" or "ai." Odd as I've been writing reviews the same way since ~2006. Regardless. This place is overrated, the servers do not care if you are there and food is basic but overpriced. Flag me if you like. I didn't use a chatbot, I just write more than "omg fire fire fire so good nomnomnomz"

orange/pomegranate glaze + fennel salad + potato chip shake are delish additions

Hands down, the BREAD lives up to the hype. Seriously, the bread makes the sandwiches here. The kaiser, challah, and focaccia breads are all delish. You can taste the freshness when your teeth sink into each bite. On top of the selection of freshly baked breads, I'm a fan of their RAINBOW Sandwich when I'm on my veggie kicks. It's got sprouts, avocado, curried tofu, and pickled vegetables. I'm an even bigger fan of their HOT MEATLOAF on Challah bread. The description made me skeptical at first--with ingredients like orange pomegranate glaze, buttermilk fennel salad, sweet pickles, and a potato chip shake. It seemed to be a sandwich created by accident while puffing on too much Pineapple Express. Maybe so. But hey, it was so dang good! When I actually dug into it, I was quite pleased with this beef & pork meatloaf recipe. As for sides, their potato salad is simple yet the egg, celery, and creamy dressing do the trick. The CURRIED CHICKEN SALAD is my next go-to when I'm not feeling as gluttonous. The curried chicken breast is tender and it has a good mix of dill, almonds, lettuce, mandarins, celery, and cucumber. For drinks, you can order freshly brewed coffees and brews from Solarc or Highland Park Breweries. Personally, I like the retro/throwback, non-alcoholic drinks with this type of diner food. There's Dr. Brown's Cherry soda (my fave), Martinelli's Apple Juice (in the apple bottle), Cock & Bull Ginger Ale, and Dad's Root Beer. Fresh squeezed OJ and Lemonade from Rick's Produce is a splurge, but it's liquid Vitamin C and you're supporting a small-batch California farmer. Glassellland has gotten a bit more popular since Bub & Grandma's moved into our neighborhood. News has gotten out about the tasty breads and all the hip kids in town hang out here, so it's best to expect some kind of wait here. The vibe is always busy. Yet no matter when I've gone, I've been lucky enough to somehow bypass the long wait times, but watch the diner fill up by the time I leave. Good thing they have a take out window for when impatience gets the best of you, and you wanna sink your teeth into a freshly baked bread ASAP.

I have been meaning to write this since I tried this spot with my cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The bread was croissant and it was gooey cheese. Anyways, I stopped by for some morning treats before work and I am so happy I did. They were so soft and flavorful. I ended up getting the cinnamon roll, which has the perfect amount of frosting. It was cream cheese flavored and just the right amount. The cinnamon donut had the right amount of sugar and cinnamon and was soft. The pumpkin pie donut had the right amount of filling and not too sweet. I was telling my cousin to stop here next time for the baked items. The service is so friendly and it looks like a diner. The food is fabulous and I definitely will come by as I have. The ambiance is relaxed and clean. It does get busy at times so be patient, but it does move fast too.

Tasty locals sandwich spot. Would have given a 5 star but it can be inconsistent at times. Sometimes it's the food. Sometimes it's the service. Can get busy, so expect a wait for dine in. A must try once, for sure

I posted a good review of B&G's breakfast fare. But today I went for lunch with friends and it was so very good. We started with the pickle plate. Two kinds of cucumber pickles and pickled tomatoes. Yum. I got a BLT with avocado which was great on toasted B&G bread of course. My friends got a curry chicken sandwich and a meatloaf sandwich. Both were reportedly also great and they looked good too (see pics). We ended by ordering a slice of carrot cake that was just perfection and a raspberry donut which I didn't try but I'm pretty sure it was also fantastic. A couple tasty Cold brew iced coffees to go and we were out of there. This place just can't miss. I miss the matzo ball soup but you can't have everything I guess. Friendly prompt service and an old school deli vibe. Go here and thank me later. Lunch starts at 11am.

I heard they supply bread to a lot of popular restaurants around LA and was craving some pastries so I stopped by. i got the Morning Heart and Crimson Hearts Plum Donut and wow they were so good! the morning bun is like a cinnamon roll's chic older sister. It's crunchy like a croissant with cinnamon in between the folds and sugar dusted on top. The Plum donut was a light fluffy donut with a plum glaze on top. The Plum Glaze was so refreshing and well balanced against the donut! It's not too sweet - which is exactly what I like. Would come back to try their sandwiches and other foods!

4++ A bakery and diner where you can order at the window or have a sit down meal for breakfast or lunch - located in Glassell Park. Even if you haven't been to this location, there's a good chance you've had their bread or other baked goods at one of your favorite restaurants around the city. I personally haven't been able to have a sit down meal here, but I've had plenty of their stuff around town and one of my good buddies often brings bread from this place to group get-togethers. My recent visit/experience here was really just to pick up some bread at the window. That was a line, but it moved fairly quickly. I wanted to just grab a sesame baguette. You are able to look inside the restaurant while waiting in line and the vibe reminds me of an East Coast deli. The person at the window was very friendly. I ordered my bread and I was on my way. I really wanna come back and truly experience this place for a full meal while getting to sit in the main room, etc. The place looks great and I've heard good things about their breakfast sandwiches and sandwiches in general. Depending on the time of day, parking could be tough around here. Since I was here on a Sunday morning, the parking wasn't too bad.

Super cute neighborhood spot! Breakfast sandwiches and coffee were both great. Can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu.

Bub and Grandma's is very popular right now, and the wait shows it. We waited about 30 to 40 minutes on a Friday afternoon, then got seated in a booth. The inside has strong vintage diner vibes, which was nice. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and that was the best part of the meal. The chips inside added great texture, and it was recommended by the staff for a reason. I also tried the brisket sandwich, which was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning, though it was still fine. We tried their pie since it is what they are known for. They only make one type per day, and that day was key lime. It was okay. The filling was very thick, the whipped cream was also thick and paired well with it, but the crust was forgettable. Overall, I do not think I would come back. The food was fine, but not worth the wait or the hype for me.

I read…read moresome of the reviews which seemed very exaggerated which created doubt...I was completely corrected. First bite to the last, the meal was delicious. We got a couple of hot sandwiches. A Pastrami and a Philly Cheesesteak which they recommended. It was unbelievable how good the sandwiches were. The rolls were warm and crispy, and the flavors were well balanced. The Pastrami had a brilliant balance between the mustard and pickle. The Philly Cheesesteak had the same brilliant balance with the meat and cheese that was in every bite. I was torn between the two great sandwiches. I'd have to say that this place has become, so far, my favorite spot for a Philly Cheesesteak and Pastrami. This place is a must return kind of place for me to stop by for a bite (even when I'm not hungry), and I can't wait to recommend or bring people here. Chefs made the sandwiches perfectly and were quick to get us our food. No private parking lot. No chairs but only tables to stand and eat your food, but it was worth it. Bring enough $ to tip handsomely, because I'm sure you'll want to.

Just found this place through Instagram ads and decided to give it a try. Just for information,…read moretheir working hours are 9 AM-9 PM, 7 days a week. I mentioned this because we missed it on one of our attempts. Finally, on Sunday evening, my husband and I had a chance to visit Butcher and Booze. Very interesting store, with a delicious smell. There is a huge section of drinks where you can find very unique wines and alcoholic beverages. They also have a section of Japanese drinks, and in another corner, different kinds of unique seasonings, BBQ charcoal, and other BBQ supplies. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Next to the drinks section, there are several tables available indoors and two tables on the sidewalk for outdoor dining to enjoy your meals. Their food menu is very interesting, and we tried the Philly cheesesteak and pastrami sandwiches (which they prepare completely in-house from A to Z). The sandwiches were super delicious, juicy, and full of flavor. One thing that surprised me was the amount of salt they used -- it was exactly the right amount, and we didn't get thirsty after eating them. These sandwiches are some of the best we've tried so far, and I highly recommend giving them a try. I noticed a huge samovar (large kettle) and another kettle in the corner of the open kitchen, and I asked about them. Argisht, who noticed my interest and who I believe is behind the kitchen and the delicious food success there, started a very warm and helpful conversation with us and surprised us by serving cups of tea. The tea tasted super soft and delicious. If you have ever tried Middle Eastern tea, you will love this tea. Luckily, they are selling it in the store, if I am not wrong it was Sri Lanka tea, which I have never seen in any store around Glendale or Burbank. Thank you for the great food, awesome store, and very positive and friendly service. With just one visit, Butcher and Booze will become one of your usual spots, so don't miss it!
