Nothing like a restaurant that makes good food and drinks. Cedar was no exception as they executed both. Ivy was the server who provided some great recommendations. The Goetta is a regional dish popular to the area comprised of sausage and potato fried like a smash burger. It was packed full of flavor and was nice and crispy. A must get was the biscuit and gravy. Unlike the southern style which is usually thick and creamy, this has amazing seasoning, plenty of the sausage crumble, and rich texture. The biscuit underneath was soft and savory and paired very well in this dish. The filet and eggs were perfectly cooked and had good flavor. There were a lot of diced potatoes on the plate to enjoy which was also well seasoned and crispy. Lastly the big easy omelette was very good. I do like the fact it was plated on top of a piece of toast. The biscuit and gravy along with the omelette gave a very strong New Orleans feeling. The cocktails also hit their mark. Local distillery Riff was the maker of the bourbon for the mule. I'm not sure of their lineup but it compared to Bulleit Bourbon. Very stable in the cocktail without being overpowering. The hard truth was a coffee with a punch and a great way to start a vacation morning. The restaurant was deceptively large from its outward appearance. There is lots of seating available and the tables moved swiftly. The large garage style doors allowed for full fresh air circulation and opens the brightness from the natural lighting. After attending a nearby activity, my wife, daughter, and I found our way to Cedar for dinner. Traditionally a brunch spot, their hours have recently been expanded to offer dinner three nights a week (Thursday - Saturday). We started with the spicy candied sprouts, a wonderful combination of roasted Brussel Sprouts, hot honey, spicy candied bacon, and served with house-made ranch ($11). These were definitely spicy, but were very tasty and a wonderful dish to share as an appetizer. The ladies shared the chicken & waffles, a large plate of fried chicken, served on a house waffle, with hot honey, spicy candied bacon, butter, and powdered sugar ($19). This featured some of the same ingredients as the sprouts, but was a much sweeter dish thanks to the sugar and waffles. They were very happy with the choice, and this is available on both the brunch and dinner menus. I ordered the Greek chicken wrap with shredded chicken, hummus, pickled red onions, cucumber, feta, and cilantro vinaigrette, all wrapped in naan bread and served with house-cut fries ($16). Came here for brunch on a random Friday and was pretty underwhelmed. I think it's the same owner as Yuca (which I absolutely love) and so I was sorta surprised. It's a cute space, kind of the same layout as Yuca too. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and we got a table for 2 right away. We got the Hangover Bowl and the Crab Benny. Neither were bad necessarily, but at the same time neither were particularly exciting or remarkable. The portions also felt somewhat small for the prices. This isn't your typical brunch spot. It's a small menu with some pretty unique flavor pairings, but it was absolutely delicious! I had never seen crab on a breakfast menu before, or orange creamsicle French toast. I went basic though and got the avocado toast, which was excellent. Seating is pretty limited- we had to wait 10 minutes before a table was open, but that is understandable given the size of the restaurant and the fact that it was a Saturday afternoon. There was about a 30 min wait, but we could leave our number and got a text when our table was ready, which we really appreciated. I ordered the Brussels sprouts hash and my daughter ordered the Cedar burger. My daughter said her burger was delicious. I've ordered the hash before and it was good. But the last two times, the Brussels sprouts still had the woody stem on them and I barely could cut them off with a knife. I can't say enough amazing things about this place! It has been on my list for quite a while, and I finally was able to check it out. I went around 11 AM on a Sunday morning, and there was quite the crowd, but not too much of a wait. I went straight to the bar, since it was just me, and the bar tenders were amazing and super knowledgeable! Since it was my first time, they allowed me some time to look over the menu and gave me some recommendations on what they thought would be best. I settled with the chicken and waffle because what is brunch with that a little sweet and savory?! I had the Cedar Mimosa but swapped with pineapple juice. It did take quite a while for me to get my order, but that was OK. I was just enjoying the nice weather people watching, and the ambience. We were greeted by the host, bartender, another worker, and had great service with Ivy. We started with house Bloody Mary's which were tasty. I had the biscuit bowl (amazing! Wish I could take some of that gravy home!) and my husband had the breakfast hash. Both were perfect portions for brunch after a night out. This place is pretty nice (there are a few worn out laminate floor planks...no biggie. There are many hard surfaces, so it is a little on the noisier side. The service is friendly and attentive, so that's good. I was torn between 3 menu items. But since I was a bit dressier for Mother's Day, I opted for a safer bet...so I don't wear it. I ordered the NOLA, a Cajun based omelet and this was a good choice. It's a large omelet on a large piece of sourdough (homemade) bread. The sauce is all New Orleans. If you are looking for a cute brunch shop in Mainstrasse, this is the place to go! They have a variety of cocktails and food items to choose from. I got the Kentucky cold brew ($10) and it was pretty watered down and not very strong. I definitely don't recommend, but my friend got the strawberry mimosa and loved it. For food we decided to share a cinnamon flat bread ($11) and the hangover bowl ($12). The flatbread was super delicious and not overly sweet! And the hangover bowl was equally good. I loved the potatoes and chorizo! The wait for here on the weekend is pretty long so we definitely recommend making a reservation if you can or getting there early.
