I almost never order an entree except to split, and for brunch Saturday, the bartender allowed me to order a single waffle and some of the most amazing cream on the side (on the menu with the dessert waffle). Perfect portion and I swooned! All my beverages were fresh and tasty, but my favorite snack of the trip was their chips And guacamole. Nothing like a restaurant that makes good food and drinks. Cedar was no exception as they executed both. Ivy was the server who provided some great recommendations. The Goetta is a regional dish popular to the area comprised of sausage and potato fried like a smash burger. It was packed full of flavor and was nice and crispy. A must get was the biscuit and gravy. Unlike the southern style which is usually thick and creamy, this has amazing seasoning, plenty of the sausage crumble, and rich texture. The biscuit underneath was soft and savory and paired very well in this dish. The filet and eggs were perfectly cooked and had good flavor. There were a lot of diced potatoes on the plate to enjoy which was also well seasoned and crispy. Lastly the big easy omelette was very good. I do like the fact it was plated on top of a piece of toast. The biscuit and gravy along with the omelette gave a very strong New Orleans feeling. The cocktails also hit their mark. Local distillery Riff was the maker of the bourbon for the mule. I'm not sure of their lineup but it compared to Bulleit Bourbon. Very stable in the cocktail without being overpowering. The hard truth was a coffee with a punch and a great way to start a vacation morning. The restaurant was deceptively large from its outward appearance. There is lots of seating available and the tables moved swiftly. The large garage style doors allowed for full fresh air circulation and opens the brightness from the natural lighting. After attending a nearby activity, my wife, daughter, and I found our way to Cedar for dinner. Traditionally a brunch spot, their hours have recently been expanded to offer dinner three nights a week (Thursday - Saturday). We started with the spicy candied sprouts, a wonderful combination of roasted Brussel Sprouts, hot honey, spicy candied bacon, and served with house-made ranch ($11). These were definitely spicy, but were very tasty and a wonderful dish to share as an appetizer. The ladies shared the chicken & waffles, a large plate of fried chicken, served on a house waffle, with hot honey, spicy candied bacon, butter, and powdered sugar ($19). This featured some of the same ingredients as the sprouts, but was a much sweeter dish thanks to the sugar and waffles. They were very happy with the choice, and this is available on both the brunch and dinner menus. I ordered the Greek chicken wrap with shredded chicken, hummus, pickled red onions, cucumber, feta, and cilantro vinaigrette, all wrapped in naan bread and served with house-cut fries ($16). Came here for brunch on a random Friday and was pretty underwhelmed. I think it's the same owner as Yuca (which I absolutely love) and so I was sorta surprised. It's a cute space, kind of the same layout as Yuca too. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and we got a table for 2 right away. We got the Hangover Bowl and the Crab Benny. Neither were bad necessarily, but at the same time neither were particularly exciting or remarkable. The portions also felt somewhat small for the prices. I had never seen crab on a breakfast menu before, or orange creamsicle French toast. I went basic though and got the avocado toast, which was excellent. Seating is pretty limited- we had to wait 10 minutes before a table was open, but that is understandable given the size of the restaurant and the fact that it was a Saturday afternoon. Interesting and cute place. The food just honestly seemed to be trying too hard. It had 1-2 too many ingredients almost. Weird criticism I guess, but that was my takeaway. I can't say enough amazing things about this place! It has been on my list for quite a while, and I finally was able to check it out. I went around 11 AM on a Sunday morning, and there was quite the crowd, but not too much of a wait. I went straight to the bar, since it was just me, and the bar tenders were amazing and super knowledgeable! Since it was my first time, they allowed me some time to look over the menu and gave me some recommendations on what they thought would be best. I settled with the chicken and waffle because what is brunch with that a little sweet and savory?! I had the Cedar Mimosa but swapped with pineapple juice. It did take quite a while for me to get my order, but that was OK. I was just enjoying the nice weather people watching, and the ambience. When the food came out, I was very impressed by how tasty everything was. I quite enjoyed the spicy maple syrup blend. I got through half and was so full, I had to take the rest home. Cedar says on their website they want to give all their guests a vacation for an hour... our vacation was terrible. I ordered the Brussel sprout hash and the Brussels were barely cooked and hard. Wish that was all I had to say. My wife ordered the steak and eggs with the steak cooked medium. Steak came back very medium rare and under, sent back and the steak came out the second time with no pink at all and very well done. Third time was the try as it turned out great, but no manager check in, instead the cook came out after the second time to ask how we wanted the steak cooked. They close at 2 and by the time the 3rd steak came out, it was past 2:00. As soon as 2:00 hit, staff was stacking chairs around us and the other table that hadn't gotten their food yet. They turned off the music at 2:15 and the AC unit that was on the wall by where we were sitting. After scarfing down our food and sweating in the heat since they had all the windows open, we had to ask our server (who was in a hurry with the rest of the staff to close the place down) for our check so we could pay the $72 for a Diet Coke, a coffee, her steak and eggs that had to be remade 3 times, my hard brussel sprout hash, and the dessert waffles. Dessert waffles were great, so if you want waffles, go here. If you don't want to be rushed out the door and have a decent experience, DONT go here. read more

But the last two times, the Brussels sprouts still had the woody stem on them and I barely could cut them off with a knife. We went when weather was beautiful so they had the side windows opened, making for a really open and bright/inviting atmosphere.
