I spent so much time staring in amazement at the stack of perfectly fried and battered food that I didn't take any pictures. My fiancé bought a 12$ half pound "burger" even drowning it in ketchup couldn't make it better . He can literally eat two of those and still be hungry and he couldn't choke one down . The waitress said they just cook it and how they want and don't give an option on how he wanted it cooked which we thought was weird but I made a joke and said as long as it's not burnt we're good ! Well , It was gray , with fake orange looking grill marks it was spongy and tasted awful and the texture was horrifying . If you can imagine what a precooked and frozen microwaved Turkey burger that had probably gone bad , that's about the best description I can give for it and that's being nice . I swear to you it was microwaved , it had to be ! We will never be back , we paid our $40 bill and left a ten dollar tip to the waitress since she was the only good part about the meal. The place is cute , and they seemed to be busy . I've been in the hospitality industry most of my life , so I wasn't about to tell the waitress that this was the worst meal we probably ever had . I didn't need to make her job harder than it already is , I imagine going into work and having to pretend she's serving good food is already an endeavor . My boyfriend says the gator tail is great! To me it's ok. I have had better. I have given them several chances to make me happy but it's always been just mediocre. I am in Florida! I want amazing seafood! The stuffed flounder, stuffed with crab and filler, well how about filler and a little crab! It seemed under cooked. If you're driving the speed limit you might miss it. We ate at the Leesburg location many years ago and it was great as well. Our family just recently ordered take out from here and had to come back the next week for a sit down meal. Every thing we have tried so far has been delicious. This is 2nd visit to Cedar River, decided to give it one more chance. We arrived as a large party was leaving their table (the only occupants of the restaurant at that time) and the entire staff was with them saying their goodbyes (must have all known each other) while we were left at the front desk waiting almost 10 minutes, completely ignored. As we were preparing to leave, a waitress came and said "sorry" and seated us. We ordered lunch and requested extra butter for our baked potatoes and were told "almost out of butter so we have to save enough for our other customers tonight". Our food came promptly .. the fish was bland, the lemons that were requested 3 times finally came towards the end of the meal. There was no silverware on the table, had to go retrieve our own from another table. The "Butter" was margarine that had seen better days, the lima beans from a can were mushy. The baked potato was 'steamed' not baked. I asked for napkins during the meal and they were delivered as she walked by for the third or fourth time by throwing them with a "you're welcome' tossed as she left. Service was so poor that I can't even call it service. It even took 3 requests to get the check! I see all the five star reviews this place receives and can't help but wonder who they are from. I've been a server and an assistant manager for 14 years, I have always accommodated my regulars. My motto is if you take care of your people, they will take care of you. Lets, start by saying myself, and four other co-workers at the Dermatology center have a 30 minute lunch, we don't get to get out as much . this would be our third time calling an order in, having it ready for us when we get there. Not to mention, we tip very well and take care of our servers, myself being a server , I understand why she would get frustrated when its busy, but first of all my service is just as good as any other customer walking in at noon, Plus, we give the courtesy to call and ask permission before we order, we don't order and just walk in at noon and say "oh by the way, were gonna take your table up", no we call before. Well, my co-worker called, the manager answered we placed the order asked them if they could have it ready and we come in and sit at a table, mind you she told us before she has no problem doing this, she rudely told her NO WE HAVE NO TABLES WERE BUSY, again myself as a server called her back and very nicely asked her I understand your busy, but we only get 30 mins lunch is there any way that we could get a table please. She said okay no problem, we get there, the Host says we cant give you a table, I counted 8 tables available, I asked for the manager, rudely tells me NO were not sitting you I said why?? give me a reason why you cant sit us, you have several tables available. She was rudely talking over us and had attitude and said go sit. I said where expecting shes the server and we will follow her to a table she looks at a table and says there. After arguing with her for 10 mins it left us with 15 mins to eat our boxed up food. She never came an asked us if we were okay, if we needed anything else, if our food was right, I told her, you're a manager, and this is how you treat people (customers), I said you're really rude, and unprofessional to be a manager. I told her not to ever worry about accommodating us anymore we wont call to bother you, my whole issue with this is you take care of your customers. I can say the food is always good there but as far as the manager, I would pick someone who has more of a personality, and a little more experience in dealing with customer service. Thank-you, again.
