I held my graduation party at Celia's this past June and it was incredible. Phil and the Celia's team did an amazing job making sure my entire party was well taken care of with warmth and cordiality. The facilities allowed for my party of around 45 to fit comfortably, a slideshow projection, and a photo area. The food was very flavorful and abundant. Given our large party, the delivery of drinks and food was a bit delayed but understandably so. Overall, Celia's was the perfect location to hold this celebration. We recently hosted a private event (wedding brunch) at Celia's by the Beach for 70 people and it was perfect! Phil and Sal were a huge help in making sure everything went smoothly. We had an open bar and taco bar and were able to come into the restaurant a few hours early to set up decorations and bring in flowers. Everyone raved about the food and Celia's even treated us to churros at the end of the event. I would highly recommend Celia's for a private event! Hosted a gathering here for Taco Tuesday and it was great! You really get an amazing deal on tacos that are fun and delicious. There were 6 of us and, unfortunately for Celia's, they didn't make much money from us! Out of the 6, only one person ordered a regular dish from their menu (enchilada and chile relleno-$28.50) and a margarita ($5.50). The rest of us ordered from their very budget friendly Taco Tuesday menu. The taco offered were either 3 street tacos, 2 hard shell tacos (regular sized), or 3 mango pork tacos (also street taco-sized). Those of us with the street tacos (about 3" in diameter) had the chicken and the picadillo and we all really enjoyed them. The ones who ordered the mango pork tacos and the hardshell tacos also expressed delight. A couple of people ordered more than one dish, but I only needed the 3 little tacos to fill me up since I devoured the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. What a deal!! We came here for 415 day after seeing a post on IG. It was a special night and the place was jam packed. We waited about 20 minutes and were seated. There were $1 Tacos, all kinds of drink specials and a special taco menu. The tacos were not the best I ever had, but they were good and affordable. My kid loved her kid's meal and the endless bowl of chips. We left stuffed and happy. The vibe was jumping, it was a fun and lively spot. I loved the music, lots of local music played for 415 day. This review is for food delivered by GrubHub. Ceviche was charged to my card but out of stock. The delivery driver called to notify me when he picked up the food. I ordered the fish mole plate. The rice, refried beans with melted cheese, and fish in a raw tortilla covered in mole sauce with sesame seeds was extra salty. The mole flavor was unlike any other mole sauce I have had and not in a good way. My husband's super burrito (fish) was bland. We hosted our baby shower at Celia's and had a fantastic experience! Phil made the planning process super easy for us, let us in to the restaurant early to decorate and tailor the space to our liking. Communication was super easy from the first time we connected and on our special day Phil and the team made sure we were having a great experience. Our party was 30 people hosted in the main dining room. We did a buffet style taco bar that was delicious! I had the mango pork tacos and the house tacos. They were incredibly lackluster. The pico and meat wasn't drained so the entire taco was soaked and dripping in water. The tortillas also weren't toasted which added to the sogginess. The whole taco kept ripping and fell apart before I could even eat it. I tried all 3 meats in the house and they didn't have enough seasoning to differentiate between the meats. It all felt very bland and had small portions of meat. The same goes for the mango. Also they need to update their menus. I went for taco Tuesday and the menu said $8 for the mango pork but was charged $9 on the bill. They were slammed and it took a while to even get the check so I didn't wanna bug them, but this price should be reflected on the menu. Servers/host were extremely kind though. read more

We catered our Elementary School Fundraising Gala with Celia's and they did NOT DISAPPOINT. :) I sent an inquiry through their website, and received a quick response from Phil (the owner). Phil asked some important questions about logistics of the event. We were on a tight budget, and he came up with a menu of dishes that were fair priced and could feed 200 people. Chimichangas, tacos rice beans, chips salsa and MORE! Day of the event: delivery: Everything was seamless when food was delivered. Sal helped us set up the food, while we were still running around with last minute set up. Everyone at the event couldn't get enough of the spread! Food was GONE. Everyone wiped it out (only 1/2 tray of flour tortillas leftover) We are so appreciative of how Phil and Sal (Sal delivered the food) went above and beyond for our event. Food and Maragaritas were good. Good Service Great Ambiance is Loud but that's ok with me. ***BIG ISSUE*** They just changed their POS so check your bill for accuracy. We got charged $51.70 for a fajita burrito but thankfully I caught it before we left. Transaction was reversed and bill was corrected. Good food, great drinks, friendly service and they always have molē. The only downside (not Celia's fault) is that it is almost impossible to find a parking spot nearby. Sometimes I've had to drive around for a half an hour to find something. Those times I've dropped off my wife. She'd get a table and order drinks while I walked the half mile back to the restaurant after finding an iffy parking spot. Worth it though. read more

I was strolling around this neighborhood after lunch and randomly hearing Ska music playing. (I hear music, I go!) Realizing that there was a celebration highlighting four.20 happening, I walked around the neighborhood to kill time and see what was going on. When I saw the sign on the street about the celebratory specials, I figured, 'what the hey!'" And walked myself up in there. I wasn't hungry or even particularly thirsty, just killing time before my flight and a $3 beer is worth a few minutes I think. I'm not sure if anyone was sitting down to eat, but the bar was definitely on one! I took a seat and the experience only went up from there. I ordered a $3 Tecate (class all the way) and the bartender dropped a basket of hot chips and salsa in front of me. (The chips were so good!! Super fresh.) Despite being a bubbly person and having a great job that allows me to be my friendly self, I usually like to enjoy my peace + quiet when dining out. Well, that didn't happen on this trip and I'm glad it didn't. As soon as I sat down, the friendly conversation from the bartender and a sweet couple at the bar began and we were laughing like old friends within minutes. Over time, more folks came in and I loved seeing them all connect and chat about the bar and their lives. I felt like I was in an episode of Cheers. Not a full dining experience, hell, not even an experience featuring a top shelf cocktail. But - a great experience that was well worth the $3 charge. read more

If you're Mexican looking for Mexican food don't get it here. Some people seem to like it and come regularly but it's not for everyone. The owners seem like good people who love what they do and the servers are all great. I'll start by saying the food wasn't terrible, but nothing super amazing. The carnitas meat in the taco and enchilada were both a bit dry. Luckily, the coleslaw they serve with it is actually quite tasty. We also really loved the strawberry agua fresca. The biggest complaint I have is that we called ahead to make sure there was something on the kids menu that was gluten free and celiac friendly. We were told the tacos were made with corn tortillas and they could accommodate us if we let the server know so they could ensure no cross contamination. Unfortunately, the taco is served on a fried shell and we were told by a server that they are premade shells and should be celiac friendly. Upon asking about the chips and whether there was cross contamination from them being fried in a fryer with food that is glutinous, we were informed by another waitress that the taco shell does get cooked in the fryer with other gluten items. My child already took a bite out of that taco and it was too late. The one waitress was knowledgeable about celiac and offered to remake a taco with a normal corn tortilla which he thought was delicious (ended up ordering a second). I was feeling pretty disappointed with this interaction and we're hoping he doesn't get any stomach pains tonight, but restaurants need to do better with food allergies especially since we called ahead and were ensured he could eat there. Overall, it's a nice location and very cozy inside during this cold night. Food was okay, some staff provided misinformation about food, but servers were generally kind. read more

Celia's saved us! We were throwing a retirement party for a beloved colleague when the venue flooded a week prior. I reached out and explained our situation and Phil was able to pull everything together.They set up a DELICIOUS taco bar for 40 people. There was plenty of food, drinks and the space was perfect! All the staff day of were amazing. In the end it was way better than our original party would have been and we will definitely be back! read more

This place is great if you love overpriced mediocre Mexican food. I've eaten at the other Celias locations, and this one is by far the worst. The service is at a snails pace even when it's not busy, parking is terrible, and the inside is filthy. When was the last time they cleaned anything in here? This was the light above our table.... always nice to have years old dust falling into your food when trying to eat. Do better, Celia would be ashamed. read more

Best tortilla soup you'll ever find in your life. Nice walk on the beach straight up to this restaurant can't say enough. Go enjoy.

We've been coming here to this family run place for years, mostly for birthday celebrations, before and after their years' long renovation. Pros: They have a great side room for large parties, a fun and festive atmosphere, and the service is always good. Cute bar area with big screen for sports viewing. They are 3 blocks from the beach so a good trip afterwards. They have a parklet outside which is good for sunset viewing (photo snatched from their FB page). Cons: The food is your typical American Mexican fare and nothing really stands out. My go to is a chicken chimichanga which was bland and flavorless, with decent guac on top. Husband said his enchiladas verde were cooked in red sauce with green poured over top. A pitcher of the house margaritas was $35, add $10 to use real limes. It was pretty good but not knock your socks off strong. On a Sunday night, they stopped serving at 8pm and hustled us out the door at 8:30 with to go cups. We'll continue to come here for parties but their competition up Judah may be taking away some business. read more

We come by at least twice a month, and love the ambiance, food and most importantly, service. From the management to every single service member the team at Celia's endeavors to ensure you enjoy every visit to their restaurant. They have a welcoming vibe, with comfy seating and a large dining room. They easily accommodate children's requests and the drink specials are a true treat these days. We highly recommend this family run establishment. The picadillo is especially yummy! And, did you know, they also host amazing, easy-to-plan parties?! I stopped by Celia's with a friend after finishing a yoga class nearby because I was craving tacos after sweating more profusely than I ever have before. My stomach was rumbling and my extremities were trembling, so I was ready for a feast. We only waited about a minute or two before the host walked up and offered us a table. We were seated in a booth with cushions whose fabric was torn down the middle, exposing the foam stuffing (which admittedly was NOT noticeably uncomfortable, more of an aesthetics note than anything). The indoor fountain and seasonal decor added a nice ambiance to the room, which was warmly lit and positioned next to the kitchen. Our waitress came up a few moments later and covered the Taco Tuesday special before delivering our drinks. One of their soda syrups had run out, so she offered to find a canned soda instead after I flagged the problem. The tacos were tasty and beautifully presented, but a bit overpowered by cilantro. The rice and beans? To die for! And don't get me started on their house margaritas--they're deliciously dangerous! I'd definitely come back for more Taco Tuesdays and am curious to try some of their other specialty dishes on the main menu. read more
