Five stars all around! I've been trying to dine at Cellar 335 since forever and on a Friday afternoon, I was finally able to. That alone should tell you that this place is usually packed for dinner. Upon arriving at Cellar 335, you're greeted by a hostess and then taken to a table. The space that you step into, is extremely dark and intimate. I think it's the best place for a date night or a girl's night out. Thankfully, while I dined here I had a wonderful waiter, Shawn! He was so pleasant, funny and definitely wanted to make sure my guest and I had a great first time. Since it was lunch, there were some drink specials, I decided to go with a frozen strawberry daiquiri and let me tell you, you only need ONE! Although small, the drink packed a good punch! For the appetizer, I ordered the carnitas BAO and OHEMGEE, it was delicious. I must admit, I'm a first timer with the BAOs, but it won't be my last. The carnitas BAO was so good that I think we might've ordered two or three more before the night was over. Other things ordered through the night were: cellar fries, the drunken veggie noodle, and Korean style wings. The ONLY complaint I had was the drunken veggie noodle, I wasn't really a fan, because I thought there was a lot of everything else and so little noodles. First of all, I do want to say compliments to the chef, the food was rich, delicious, and overall great. However this place will only be getting 3 stars from me because the portions are simply too small - if I pay $20 for a steak to share and that steak wouldnt have filled me if I ate it by myself... and I'm about 120 lbs... so imagine a regular guy going there - three of those tiny dishes wouldnt fill them. There are so many great places to eat in JC now that I feel like I way overpaid for what Im getting. I think they need to adjust their portion size or lower their prices. If I were to spend the same amount any other place in JC, I would be full and probably have a doggy bag, because for the price you can just order multiple entrees at any other great resturants thats at the heart of Newark Ave. Or head off the beaten path to the hamilton inn and get yourself a skirt steak cooked to perfection with sides and way more than you need for just one dinner. read more

Date night at Cellar 335 was unfortunately a letdown. We were excited to try the food based on the reviews, but the experience didn't live up to the hype. After placing our order, the appetizer (cornbread) and one entrée (spicy beef) arrived within 5 minutes. While fast service might sound great, both dishes were steaming hot, almost like they had been microwaved instead of freshly prepared. The third dish (drunken noodles) took nearly 20 minutes to come out, which made us wonder if it had been forgotten and quickly thrown together. Like the others, it was also piping hot in a way that didn't feel fresh. Taste-wise, the dishes left a lot to be desired. The flavors were reminiscent of Trader Joe's frozen meals, which is not what you expect at this price point. Cellar 335 was a amazing unique culinary and visual adventure! I was so excited to experience Cellar 335 for the first time! The restaurant itself is a fun eclectic atmosphere. With live moss art growing on the wall and graffiti art done with elegance. There is no way one can take in everything in with just one visit. The menu is exceptional and perfect for this time of year. The cold noodles were my favorite and the shrimp and garlic were cooked to perfection! The drink menu was so different and I challenged myself to steer away from my usual and try something adventurous. I enjoyed the Smoldering Bastard. I came here last night for 7pm dinner (Thursday night). I would imagine this place pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights Parking is metered street parking which I could see it being hard to find spots but luckily we didn't have any problem. Outside is not very obvious. There is a sign tho and navigation will lead you there with no problem.Use the stairs on the ground flooring going down to the entrance ( thus it named CELLAR 335 lol) . One might be even skeptical of the location BUT.... Once inside- you're suddenly in a super cool and chill ambiance. It's a Tiki bar/restaurant but it's dark and adorned with cool decor and lighted candles.Reggae music fills the air. Not too busy around 7pm but was packed by 9pm .... and thus more loud (due to people talking). read more

A fun and unique experience. It's kind of like the Rainforest Cafe but for adults. Everything has a sexy Mayan thing going on. Even the drinks are all dazzled with different kinds of garnishes. I highly recommend giving this place a try, especially if you need a place to start with dinner before going out. The staff is nice and professional. Anyone who works here is more than happy to recommend a dish if you ask. It does get busy sometimes so be sure to make a reservation or you'll have to spend time trying to steal a seat at the bar, which is also pretty popular. I just celebrated my birthday with dinner there! Amazing! Excellent food, Superior service, relaxing ambiance. I really enjoyed myself. All the staff were friendly, super attentive, and really did treat me and my niece like family. When we arrived for our newly rescheduled time, we were told that they were unable to seat us despite having a confirmed reservation. Had an amazing time at Cellar 335! It's my third time here and this place never disappoints. Came here on a Thursday night with my girlfriend for a girls dinner. The cocktails are phenomenal. I got the Jalisco Prince. It was just great! The food was also awesome. Everything is served tapas style and perfect for sharing with your group. I went here for a girls night out a few weeks ago to celebrate my sister's new job. There were about 5 of us girls and we wanted to go someplace trendy that served food and had good drinks. The food was good but the drinks were delicious. They make a ton of different drinks that I have never even heard of and we all had a great time.
