I got asada nachos and 3 tacos (carnitas, barbacoa, birria) all w the cashew crema Super friendly workers and I really liked the ordering process it was simple. Also not too expensive which was cool

I tried the Asada Fries at Daisy Chains Fields Festival and it was so delicious. I am not vegan myself but decided to try this vendor since the line was a bit shorter than the rest. The service was prompt and the workers were great despite the heat at 11:30 AM. The asada fries were the most delicious thing I had at the festival. The protein was packed with so much flavor and the texture was good. The texture is not extremely similar to meet but the flavor and spice was there and the guacamole was the star of the show it was so fresh and creamy and paired well with the fries and tomato.

And this was the side of avocado that's literally almost 5 dollars and it looks old and brown. Smh.

So disappointed, first ordering with them. Had heard great things about this place. WRONG i had ordr mile salsa and it comes with onions and cilantro wrong they never even put them on there and the side of avocado looks old and it's brown. Like what ! Never again.

    Al Pastor Big Vegan Torta

One of the worst seasoned vegan Mexican places I have been to. Got the Al pastor torta and the Birria tostada and both tasted like someone took basic veggie meat, added a tiny amount of salt, and served it. Their meat lacks seasoning and flavor. Any Mexican restaurant in LA would know how to season meat better but somehow they don't???

We were so blown away by how delicious everything was! And it's not too far from our home so we can go all the time now! Our new favorite Mexican spot!

Cena vegan makes the best vegan Mexican food out there. I've tried a few and none compare to cena vegan. I've been a loyal customer since before 2020. Back when they had their product in Lassens. Hands down the best. I've had a little of all their products and my favorite is their birria and alpastor. If you're hesitant to try Cena Vegan, this is your sign to do it.

Although this is not a sit down restaurant, I interacted with one of the staff and I really appreciated them. Nice guy. You order there or ahead (best) and you find street parking right outside and text them that you're there and they'll bring out your food. There are so many meat options I didn't know which one to choose. I got carne asada for my nachos and chicken for my burrito. I think chicken was the better option. Nachos honestly wasn't that great. Looked better than it taste. Burrito was good. I didn't get any wow factors but the burrito took care of my hunger and cravings. I'd come back if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way.

Yalll don't listen to the most recent reviews... I just got Cena Vegan today at their reg location and OMG it's the most flavorful I've ever tasted it. Every single bite hits the spot!!! The horchata is HANDS DOWN THE BEST IN CALI FOR VEGAN HORCHATA!!! I'm literally still sitting here writing this review. I'm so glad I made this drive. It'll ALWAYS BE WORTH IT!!! Thank you for being consistent and please never leave; you're so loved!!

Awful! I ordered last night after not having this spot in a year or so, and wow it's gross. 4 taco plate was dry flavorless "meats" and they didn't put the Crema on it nor provide salsas. The beans and rice bland and gummy texture--tortilla being only redeeming quality. Chips were good but healthy, and the "medium" and "mild" salsa (1 small each) tasted weird also--both were weird consistency, the red being peppery and green (bright green) reminiscent of mint chutney you'd get with an Indian samosa. What happened?!

My first time trying their food and it did not disappoint. The quality, quantity of the food, drinks and the salsa were excellent! I tried the horchata, Bug Vegan Burrito with the mushroom guisado while my husband tried the Big Vegan Burrito with the carne asada and a side of fries. The red salsa is spicy, it has a kick and sooo good! The green salsa is more on the mild but still delicious. I appreciate that they gave us extra salsa on the side. The horchata was probably one of the best I have had with the flavor being closer to regular horchata but without the dairy. The burrito is massive and super filling. They do not sell you short of ingredients because my burrito had plenty or rice, beans, guacamole, and mushrooms guidado and it was still warm. Our order took about 15 minutes to be ready so the wait wasn't long at around 3pm on a Sunday. Order and pickup: you order ahead (they have a link on here but make sure it's for the correct location). Once you order they will notify you (via text and/or email). You can park right in front of their location to pickup which is across from the park and the sign is posted on the black building with a mural painted on it. They have the phone number posted so you text the that you have arrived and they bring your order to you. The staff was super sweet who brought the order out. Location outside was clean and they have plenty of signs to know it's the location.

Cena Vegan is a great place to visit for some good vegan/vegetarian Mexican food. It was reasonably priced, about $15 per person, and had huge portions. While the fake meat and soy based products weren't our favorite, it was definitely worth a try. We personally loved the nachos and the crunchwrap! The service was also very quick as we were able to get our food within about 10-15 minutes of ordering. One thing to note is that this is not a sit down restaurant. You must take the food with you (togo) and eat somewhere else. Overall, this was a great place to visit and the workers were also very sweet and even gave us a free horchata for trying their restaurant! They also partnered with Support+Feed to help raise money for food insecurity in LA. Definitely would recommend visiting!!

If you are looking for a plant based spot, without missing the flavor and texture of meat and dairy- don't sleep on this spot. First, you gotta order ahead with the QR code because this is a pick up location. Once your order is ready they notify you and you text them when you are right out front (no need to get off your car), they take it to you. Curbside delivery for the win! Location is right across from Lincoln Park. Don't blink because you'll miss the door. Building is all black and right next to the Mission. Food was delicious. Red salsa lacked flavor, but the green was on point!! Their dairy free Horchatta is so dang delicious and refreshing.

This is one of my favorite places to visit during pop ups and I even have been to their old location in Highland Park! Last weekend, I attended the Vegan Street Fair in Westwood and paid them a visit. I had their nachos with Barbacoa "meat" and it was so wonderful. The chips were very crunchy and crisp and fresh tasting. The nachos were fully loaded the savory faux meat, guacamole and the most indulgent crema sauce that really brought everything together. I opted for a medium salsa and it was so perfectly spiced. The tomatoes were also very juicy and balanced out the faux meat well. The staff were so friendly and prompt, ensuring the food came out quickly without sacrificing the quality of the food. It's such a great value, only being $16, which felt like quite a steal considering how much food was given and that they were at a pricy street food festival! Definitely recommend paying them a visit if you see them at any popup!

Does anyone know how the masa for the tamales is made? Looking for low fat vegan tamales.

Peace. if anyone can tell me what menu options are soy-free? that would be most helpful. thank you. bless

Is this Ave 25 place a restaurant? Can I just show up and order? Do you take credit cards? I haven't had this since you stopped coming to York and I'm hungry.

It's a kitchen... you can order and have it delivered through Postmates. Not a restaurant.

Do you guys have real meat or just GMO fake meat?

    It's called Cena VEGAN. It's 100% Vegan.

Are they pet friendly to dine in?

It's a pickup location so not actually any space to eat at.

First fine going here tomorrow what is the best choice of meat?

I think that the carne asada is the best!!

    This is 100% vegan?

    Yes!!! And Amazing!

Are they open on Saturday's cause it says closed today?

Hi Brandy - this is their online calendar.https://www.cenavegan.com/event-calendar

What time are they on York and are they there everyday? Can't find hours/days of operation on their page.

Tuesdays and Fridays they open at 6pm and will stay until 11pm. they're also in DTLA and Hollywood on Sundays

Is the food truck there every day?

No! They post when they'll be there on their Instagram @cenavegan

    Do they take card?

    Yes

    Are they open right now?

    Yes at smorgasbord dtla

    What are the hours?

Tuesday's and Fridays Highland Park 6-10 or till they sell out and I believe Sunday at Smorgasbord 10-4. I would advice anyone looking for hours to follow their Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/cenavegan

    What are normal operating hours?

On York they are there Tuesdays and Fridays from 6pm-midnight or while supplies last. They are very good about posting on Instagram when and where they will be places. I would follow them @cenavegan…

    How's parking? Lot? Street?

They're a food truck so you just have to park on the street somewhere. They're usually in highland park with others vegan food trucks, or well at least the last time I went, which was in march.

They only have a hose A/C in the corner that didn't do much to cool the place down. The food though was amazing! As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). The service was prompt, dishes came out quickly, and water was always filled. I am looking forward to returning to try all the other dishes!

I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I've been here 3 times and never last long enough to get a photo before digging in. There are two other vegan restaurants right next to it, same concept - order and pick up. Great for different options if one is craving Mexican from Cena or hot dogs from All franks.

I went on a whole food vegan diet for 40 days as part of a cleanse and health journey. So my fiancé and I decided to come out here before a concert one night. He's been vegan for years and years, but I've never had that diet so it was hard for us to go out. We found this place and knew we had to go. We arrived about an hour before close, got sat immediately, and had a super sweet server (I wish I remembered her name). But I didn't realize that the menu items were all affirmations. As someone who has had a super tough year physically and emotionally, I've been really getting into meditation and manifesting and overall good vibes. So I thought going there and seeing that menu was absolutely a sign. It's fully vegan and whole food. And VAST. There was so much to choose from. I asked opinions on what to get. I think I ended up getting I Am Restored for my drink. Delish. Not sweet but very good. And then my partner and I got the I Am Glorious and the I Am Next Level to share. Everything was SO good. House made. Great flavor. And great presentation. My only wish was that is was more affordable (why does healthy yummy food have to be so expensive?!). We'd be going more often and we don't live close by. But it's worth it. Excited for our next trip back there! Side note - we also ordered delivery from them as well. The I Am Caring nachos (did notttt travel well.. get them in person). And the I Am Giving Margherita pizza. That was yummy. Recommend for vegans and non vegans alike!

I visited Cafe Gratitude for lunch during Dine LA Week and thought the $25 deal was a great value…read more You get to choose two dishes, both in full-size portions, plus a drink. I ended up getting so full that I took my second dish home! I absolutely loved the coconut drink, "I Am Chill." They were also happy to customize it with less ice, which I really appreciated. The "I Am Next Level" bowl was delicious, healthy, and very satisfying. My second dish, the "I Am Beaming" Pesto Alfredo Pasta, was a little too creamy for my taste, but it was still enjoyable. It was fairly noisy during lunch on Friday, and the service was decent but could have been a little more attentive. There were a few moments when I found myself wondering when the waiter would come back to my table. Overall, a great Dine LA value with delicious, healthy food and some creative drink options. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

They were both tasty. I think we preferred the Californian a little more. The Reuben just had a little too much sauerkraut for my preference. We also tried their potato salad and their guava Fresca. They were both good but the guava Fresca could have had a little more sweetness. They do have a few tables and stools along one side of the wall. Covered tables are also available outside. They do have one bathroom available for customers. Parking is free either in their small parking lot or along the streets.

The cashier was super patient and helpful which I appreciate a ton! The location is on the corner of a lil strip of businesses so a few parking spots which makes a difference. Inside was a small setup but again super cute Here's what we got: 1. The Smokey (10/10) - it's banging! I really wanted to try it specifically because the onion-jalapeño jam got me stuck... and it did not disappoint! 2. The brisket breakfast burrito (9/10) - I asked them to cut both in half since I was gonna share with someone in the streets haha I love burritos, I love vegan breakfast burritos so nom nom nom! 3. Speculoos brownie (10/10) - it's super El Niño so the brownie was hot and ready by the time I landed so it was gooey and delish af I will definitely be back when I can push out to HP to grab refrigerated meets and cheezes! Please come support a vegan business!!

Dinner was $70 per person and consisted entirely of shared plates. It turned out to be plenty of food. We started with the roasted shishito peppers and the crispy pork belly. That pork belly was the best dish of the night - absolutely delicious. Next came the chickpea fritters, which were also really good. The roasted beet salad was up next. I hate beets. But I still liked this. I wouldn't order it again because, yeah, I really don't like beets. But if you like them even a little, you should get this. I actually ate several bites of this, and it was nice. The Sichuan Chili Bass presented a similar situation as I don't really like fish - but again, I ate this and it was quite tasty. Dessert was a "s'mores" situation - a messy, glorious bowl of chocolate, meringue, graham cracker crunch and strawberries. Service was awesome - perfectly pacing the meal. My friend had a couple of cocktails which were gorgeous. And the room is lovely and light. I don't love the neighborhood and parking can be tough. I definitely would come early unless you're taking a taxi. Genuinely surprised how much I liked this meal. Everything was very well done and clearly made with care without seeming fussy or too precious. Highly recommend and would definitely come back. This is a place to take your out-of-town friends to.

We made a reservation through OpenTable and arrived about 5 minutes early. They were able to seat us pretty quickly, so the whole check-in process was easy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with tall ceilings and plenty of plants. At night, the lighting is moodier and gives the whole space a warm, buzzy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself was also literally warm lol. It wasn't unbearably hot, but definitely warmer than comfortable, especially while eating something like curry. Granted, it was 95°F+ outside that day, so maybe the AC was just fighting for its life. We ordered: * Goat liver mousse * Wood-fired broccoli * Pickled pepper blueberry cornbread * Lamb curry Surprisingly, I think the wood-fired broccoli was my favorite dish of the night. It had a really nice char with a slight tanginess that kept me going back for more. The cornbread and goat liver mousse were both just okay for me. I wanted the cornbread to be richer and more buttery, and the blueberry didn't come through nearly as much as I expected. The goat liver mousse was fine, but weirdly I almost wanted it to taste more like goat? For something centered around goat liver, the flavor felt pretty tame. The lamb curry had a nice curry flavor, but it was missing the depth and complexity I've had in really good curries. There also wasn't much actual lamb in the dish, which made it even harder for it to stand out. Overall, nothing we had was particularly bad, but aside from the broccoli, nothing made me think, "I need to eat this again." The space and interior honestly left a stronger impression on me than the food. Maybe we just didn't order the right dishes, because this place is clearly popular; but with so many other restaurants in the Arts District, I don't see myself choosing Girl & the Goat over them for a return visit.
