I came to this place yearssss ago and I remember loving it. I've been craving to go back and I am so happy I did. This is honestly the best vegan burger places in LA. I went with my boyfriend and he said it is better than In-N-Out. I honestly agree if you are looking for a vegan option. I will say I ordered a combo meal with tater tots, a drink, and a grilled cheese. I wish I didn't get this and only the grilled cheese because the taters and drink made me feel kinda gross. The tater tots were kind of heavy and the drink just tasted like a watered down Icee. The grilled cheese though was sooo yummy. It wasn't really filling for me but it tasted good. I also got a cheeseburger and I liked it a lot. I think if you want to feel full get a cheeseburger than a grilled cheese (of course if you eat meat). Parking was a bit tough but if you place an online order you can just hop in and get the food. The staff was super sweet! Got the hotdog combo and the hotdog was mid. Tasted like low grade light life hot dogs. I was under the impression it would be an impossible hotdog and I am willing to bet the $9 I spent that it wasn't lol. The fries were good but got cold quickly cuz it was cold in the restaurant. Initially the service was okay when I walked in but because I asked to have my hotdog remade because there appeared to be a hair on one of the pickles and mustard (haaaate mustard and I asked for ketchup) there was a change in tune. i was told it wasn't hair and was cardboard from the box, but that also shouldn't be there lol??? I can appreciate the fact that vegan fast food places are on a rise, and Monty's is a prime example of one of these chains! It is a wonderful alternative, whether you are vegan and looking for a quick eat, or not vegan and are looking for something good to eat. Although pricy, the food is so good and definitely worth a try. The side sauces they have compliment the burgers so well!! A friend of mine put me onto Monty's Good Burger a few years back. Pretty much what you'd expect of a plant-based burger shop with an LA twist. It's pricy, but the food has been consistently delicious with each visit. I miss their onion aioli sauce! I remember it being really popular around the first time I tried Monty's. My go to order as of late is a burger with a single patty (double if I'm extra hungry), their tots w/honey mustard or the house sauce, and the Travis Oat Matcha Shake. By no means authentic matcha, but it's a super thick shake that compliments this franchise's flavor profile. Where I find myself awestruck is how tasty a plant-based burger could be. Just about as savory, but equally filling and satisfying! The staff in both the Culver and Echo Park locations are wonderful. In my experience, the employees are patient with new patrons and really great with asking follow up questions to get a feel of what you're looking to try. Interior of the restaurant is reminiscent of a classic burger shop. Not too big, cozy, but with a pop of color on the walls with a good amount of artwork around. Whenever I drive by, I would see a long line and have been wondering what's the hype from all the vegan and non-vegan peeps. I was pleasantly surprised. I am not vegan but I can vouch and say it did scratch the itch of my cravings for a burger which most likely would have been super thick and heavy. I can't say this is just like an actual real burger because it's not and definitely has a different flavor. But his is the best vegan burger place I've tried yet and I would order again! Their house sauce is similar to In-n-out. I appreciate they include pickles in the burger providing the crunch factor. The cheese on my burger was spectacular on the burger, super gooey and melt in your mouth-wow! The strawberry milkshake was super good! Creamy, thick, a lot of strawberry, and loved the whipped cream with the sprinkles! This actually tasted like a regular milkshake! I wouldn't have known this was vegan at all. Tator Tots were perfection. Crunchy and cooked well! Yum! Overall, I get the hype of Monty's especially for the vegans. Their overall menu is pretty well-rounded with unique choices which I respect instead of just copying the fast-food chains. I do have to say I think the price should be marked down a dollar or three to make this my go-to. They don't have gluten free options for the bread, the biggest concern as my diet has been restricted, they use vegetable oil. Just because it's "vegan doesn't mean it's "healthy" or "healthier". The vegetable oil is highly processed. For the price point my expectations were bigger. The place was clean, staff was kind. After I ate, the food hurt my stomach. I read a review where someone said it's the vegan in n out burger, unfortunately that comment is misleading and not true. I'm not angry writing this review. Few things can get improved. It is a glorious time to be a vegan. When I was a vegan in Los Angeles in the late '80s and early '90s, I had to drive far and wide to find vegan food. Luckily, there was way less traffic then, but even in L.A., veganism was hardly popular. There was absolutely nothing like Monty's Good Burger. I ordered the cheeseburger, which comes with an Impossible patty, and the chicken tenders with a creamy sriracha sauce. They tricked me My knowledge of this place was that I saw their food truck at the No Values punk fest out in Pomona in 2024. Was at the Wiltern for a show and seemed like a good place to eat. And it absolutely was. It was a "dirty" burger stand with uncomfortable stool seating, a great view of the grill and employees way cooler than my mid 40's self because let's face it I don't know who 2hollis is. Added bonus by the way - they give out free stickers which made my kids who are not old enough to know who 2hollis is very happy. Anyways the food was super tasty. Smacking! 10 out of 10 for both, tbh the nashville was one of the best vegan chicken sandwiches I ever had. I also really enjoyed the sodas - The Dr. Monty's and Cherry Bomb flavors were good mixed and also by thereselves to, a big plus you get free refills! I like the old school burger joint set up with the stools and counter being so close to the grill you could watch em cook. I went with the single cheeseburger, and wow--this was hands down one of the best plant-based burgers I've had. The pickles were perfectly tangy and added just the right touch to each bite. My son had the chicken fingers, and he devoured them--super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just like they should be. Both of us loved the tots, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. Now, the sparkling lemonade deserves a special mention. It wasn't too sweet, just the right amount of fizz, and it's been on my mind ever since. It's honestly a drink I could keep going back for. The biggest surprise of all? Everything was vegan! Really quick service with nice attention to details and customizations. A smaller location with only a single 4-top inside and a dozen stools, with a pet friendly 2-top cafe set outside in front. Shakes made with oat milk were great too - the coffee one has both espresso powder and coffee extract added to give it punch. Parking is typical K-town tough but you might get lucky to find a street space. They do UberEats and Grubhub so that's an option. But really, fresh and hot is best. read more

The buns on the burger were quite sweet, which over powered the patty, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. The patty was good and cooked nicely. My friend kept telling me Monty's is the In n Out of the plant based world, and while I do eat meat I never mind trying new food including plant based so I had to check it out! The burger was better than I expected! Not dry, cooked well. I got the Monty's Single Cheeseburger. Complete with an Impossible Patty, Cheddar Cheese, House Spread, Lettuce, Tomato, House Pickles and Grilled Onions inside a Soft Brioche Bun. (Bun Contains Gluten). I also got fries and onion & habanero aioli. The habanero aioli wasn't super spicy in my opinion. While I like their setup because it's nostalgic, there was no seating at the location I went to so there's no ambiance to describe. The service was good, they were nice. All in all I paid $21 for a burger and fries. While it was good, since I'm not exclusively plant based, I'd spend my money elsewhere. The burger was so flavorful and rich, it was even good enough to convince a non-vegan who joined me for the meal. I love Monty's so much. I used to go to a Monty's all the time in college and this was such a good reminder of how much I missed this place. This location was a bit small, with minimal seating. But I loved the old-timey diner feel and seeing the kitchen up in the front. The service was extremely friendly and the food came out quick. The food was incredible, we got a burger, tots, and the Travis barker matcha shake. I've had the others before--both incredible--but the matcha shake blew me away. There are plenty of vegan places I've been to, but Monty's is really the best when it comes down to vegan burgers. It really tastes like the real deal! And their shakes...OMG their shakes, you gotta have em! It's packed during lunch and dinner rush so I usually come in on the off hours to get a quick meal. The staff is always upbeat and filled with energy which I love! Makes the place that much more fun to be at. If you are looking for a plant-based hamburger spot, there is no shortage of them in Los Angeles. That being said, this is one of the options at the top of my list. I frequent this space often when I'm looking for a hamburger/cheeseburger from a fully plant based restaurant. Their french fries are my favorite, and everything I have tried on the menu (which is almost every single item) has been delicious. Also, I have not had a negative experience regarding Customer Service, and the food is always prepared quickly and is piping hot.
