Really wanted to like Cenote but I just wasn't a big fan of anything I ordered. I got the half sandwich + half salad but if you're thinking of getting a side of fries you should definitely just do the full sandwich + fries for pretty much the same price depending on the sandwich you choose. I thought the cubano half was very small but very heavy. It was pretty greasy and messy to eat and the pulled pork didn't feel like anything special. I appreciated the freshness of the mango salad. The dressing was very good that came with it and it tasted healthy. However, I think some kind of crunch / salty factor would really elevate the salad because although fresh, there wasn't a lot of flavor. The perfect coffee shop/breakfast place. Food: I really enjoyed it and it was cheap. I got the classic breakfast (eggs potatoes bacon and toast) and wasn't expecting much, but it was all really good! My soy cappuccino was also very tasty. Atmosphere: it was the perfect day (60 degrees and sunny) so pretty much everyone was outside. It was so pretty! Also dog friendly! Went with a few friends and it's such a casual, welcoming spot! You order food & drinks at the counter. Pick up the drinks by the coffee machine and they'll deliver your food to your table. The hot chai was pretty good however, I found it a little watered down. The mango mimosa was spot on! Served a total of 6 glasses. I ordered a veggie sandwich and it was fresh, perfect and colorful. My partner ordered a Cubano sandwich which was great, the meat was super juicy and it was a generous proportion. The food came out pretty fast and we went there around 10am. We had a dirty glass and I had to go in and get a clean one which the staff was very accommodating about and cleaned it right in front of me. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Austin and I'll personally go back again! This place is absolutely amazing! The food is so spicy and flavorful I love it not being overly spicy. The prices are very reasonable and I would recommend this to any and all my friends. That has been waiting on that are always there and they make sure everything is always up to their standards. I love the wet burrito and their fish tacos are amazing. Escondidas a place full of Mexican restaurant get this place stands out with tons of flavor plentiful portion at me friendly atmosphere and top quality a mom and Pop restaurant can offer. There's definitely deserves five stars and if there was a bonus 630 I could give I would because they totally deserve it. I have been to Cenote probably about ten times for breakfast or brunch. It has always been a great Austin experience. Counter ordering. Friendly staff. Fresh ingredients. Flavorful and delicious dishes. Their coffee and tea selections are good. They are more than willing to make things off the menu if they aren't slammed. I often get poached eggs with kale or avocado toast with a poached egg. On the last trip, I ordered the avocado toast with a poach egg and also ordered the mango salad which was terrific. But I thought that Mango salad would be a small side salad for $8 and it arrived and was a large bowl--enough for four people as a side. We often bring our Golden Retriever and sit in the yard. Servers bring your food out to your table. The gardener does an amazing job keeping the grounds looking great and keeping the front and side yard clean. Parking can be challenging but you should be able to find a spot on the street within a block's walk. I will definitely return to this spot and I do recommend it. read more

Went here midday on a Saturday, got a table outdoors, and then waited in line to order our food. The wait was about 20 minutes, but the food was ready within 5 minutes of us sitting down. Their drink selection was very expansive with 4 different mimosa flavors and in-house made chai. Lots of other caffeinated drinks as well: teas espresso and yerbamates. The cafe has a great environment for brunch with your friends and family or working from outside the office. There is plenty of picnic table outdoor seating, dogs are welcome but only outside. Service dogs are welcome inside and they do have wifi. There was a cute bakery connected to the restaurant that I will definitely have to go back to try. read more

This place is the BOMB! To start - very homey/cute vibes to this place. There is indoor seating, which has a very Spanish authentic/antique feel & you can also sit outside with the beautiful greenery and plants surrounding. Plan to get there early or order ahead for takeout. This place is clearly no secret to the neighborhood and you have to place orders at the counter. Their menu is really well rounded, and super affordable, which made it easy to pick 2 plates (at least) for a little savory/sweet combination. We tried the apple pancakes, which were amazing. Fluffy cakes, and sweet topping with the apples and syrup. Would go back just for that. Also had the breakfast burrito (twice - once with bacon, once with chorizo) **PRO TIP** ask for the chipotle mayo sauce on it..trust me! The servings were huge, the food was fantastic, and the service was friendly and inviting. Couldn't have asked for anything better. I rarely write yelp reviews. Just like I rarely ever take my food back. I've worked in the restaurant industry and it truly takes a lot for me to send my food back. I took my family to cenote as they are visiting austin and I've never had a bad experience there, until today. I got the hot honey chicken sandwich. The piece of chicken was so tough I couldn't even bite into it. I went to take my sandwich back to the manager on shift, and the manager stood there questioning the fact that I ate the sweet potato fries it came with saying "well you ate most of this". Mind you I took a bite out of the sandwich and the manager told me I ate half of the chicken because "we serve chickens double the size". She kept questioning that I took one bite out of the chicken and that particular chicken was a smaller breast than normal. Due to the lack of customer service and the TERRIBLE manager on duty, I will never be back to cenote. read more

I live close to this place and they are always consistent, always delicious, and always have a changing menu which I love! The coffee here is on point. I recently tried their pumpkin spice latte and it lived up to my expectations which is rare. The food comes out really fast here. I'm pretty sure the chef has been working here since the place existed. I usually order the Eggs Benedict or something new off their menu. Everything is great! The space is a cute old little house that's turned into a coffee shop/cafe. They also serve beer and wine which is a plus! Cons - I find it really annoying that people who work/study here just get coffee and park their computer at a chair and table for hours. I know it's a coffee shop but technically it isn't and why would someone wanna study here for hours when the tables aren't even that comfortable? Also, this place isn't very good for large groups unless the weather is nice enough to sit outside. Most of the tables inside are tiny and wobbly. Really incredible little cafe! We came here for brunch on a Sunday at 11:30ish and waited in line for about 20 min to order. We got some breakfast tacos (chorizo), eggs Benedict, apple butter pancakes and the traditional breakfast. Everything was so incredible! The tacos were flavorful and huuuge! The salsa accompanied was delicious. Eggs benny were delicious, the eggs were overcooked though. That chipotle hollandaise was awesome. The pancakes really stole the show though! Cenote is a cute place just east of i35 in Austin. The ambiance is really nice for lunch and the staff there is laid back, friendly, and cool. I love the teal painted walls everywhere. You have a choice of sitting inside or outside and a the outside seats above an umbrella to shade you from the sun. The menu items are plentiful and tasty! The other thing that really stands out to me about this place is that a there is such diversity in the people coming here to eat. That essentially means that no matter what walk of life you are from, you will feel welcome here. I love that because that isn't very common everywhere. I definitely recommend the banh mi tacos (pictured) and the grande grilled burrito (also pictured) are tremendously good (said my two buddies with me). I ate that side salad that came with the banh mi tacos and it was crisp and delightful. I had a latte which I forgot to take a picture of that was good. So I came here today with a friend, and I'll say my overall experience with this place was just okay. Service was nice but the food was too expensive for what it was. My hot honey fried chicken was pretty bad ($17), which surprised me because I love a spicy chicken sandwich. My friend's hatch burger (also $17) was delicious but too much hatch chili. I ordered the house chai and breakfast burrito. Chai is made with whole milk and has good flavor but she didn't bother doing a nice design on the top. I had also asked for it to go and she served it to me in a mug. After I set it down, I leaned my arm in on the table, the whole table tilted and spilled a good portion of my drink. Sticky liquid everywhere. Chai was also lukewarm. Location is sketchy. There's a church nearby and tons of homeless people on the corner which is uncomfortable to walk through. I recommend driving here. Grilled burrito saved the day. The flavor was good and the skin crispy. There was plenty of egg and potatoes but needed a couple more pieces of bacon. It was served with a fork and a small side of salsa. Here's what I don't understand. Why are you giving me a fork for a burrito? If I needed a fork, I would also need a knife because a burrito is unwieldy to eat with just a fork. I'm debating between 3 or 4 stars today. If I minus the chai issue it would be 4 stars. read more

This is my second time coming here. There are a slew of options especially for breakfast. I had the croissant with egg cheese and bacon. It was cooked perfectly and arrived really hot. The oatmeal for me was a little bland so I requested an extra side of brown sugar. The breakfast tacos are pretty big so make sure if you order one, AND THEN are still hungry, then go back and get another but I don't recommend ordering two unless you are REALLY hungry! This place is all hidden and cute. Outdoor seating is definitely the way to go. As far as the breakfast sandwich, it is huge. Get the croissant and you wont be disappointed. The portions overall are really great here. The only pain is they make it difficult for any substitutions (egg whites/hold the onion kinda stuff) and they make it a little awkward to get refills. I'm a tea drinker and always have to wait at the counter to ask for more, I believe my boyfriend said you don't get free refills for coffee. I LOVE trying Chilaquiles every time they are available anywhere I go. I would rate these at the very bottom of my list. They are smothered in overpowering sauce. Loved this place!! Atmosphere was very chill and the people working were very nice :) I got the BBQ chicken burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was really good but pretty messy. Was more of a sort of spicy barbecue than a sweet barbecue. The fries were just your average sweet potato fries.
