If I could pick up this coffee shop and move it home with me, I would. From the little sign out from, to the never ending outdoor patio, to the mismatched seating inside this coffee shop is everything. The barista was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We only got to try some iced coffees but wow were they good. She told us something special they do while making their cold brew but unfortunately I forgot what it was...but I firmly believe it made it more delicious. We snagged table on their lovely patio and played some cards and enjoyed the outdoors. Some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had! I love shoe string fries and this is my first time having sweet potato ones like that. Definitely recommend! I really liked the sandwich. My mom and I got the gobeet sandwich which is goat cheese, arugula, beet, onion, sun dried tomato pesto.. you would expect such a sandwich to be roasted, savory, delicious.. but everything in it is raw (beets are boiled?) and extremely bland, boring, and wayyyyy too many raw onions. We were both disappointed. Just putting roasted beets and onion on there would be a game changer for this sandwich. And then I did the combo with the kale salad which was basically the same thing.. mediocre dressing, topped with raw onions, beet, goat cheese and tomatoes and random pico. I looove salad and i had to force myself to finish this one just because it was so boring. I guess the positive side to this meal was that it was very clean and fresh, definitely not greasy. Very nice place. The banh mi tacos were delicious. Loved the outdoor dining. Truly a delightful experience. Except I use a knee roller to get around. One knee on a scooter, one foot on the ground, with a handlebar for steering. Better than a wheelchair, but I get some sense of what a wheelchair would be like, wherever I go. Navigating that place took a lot of skill. I didn't fall. But I don't appreciate restaurants that seem to be designed as a test. Getting from the curb to the side door and back is a nightmare, and getting around the outdoor space there is ridiculous. No railings on any stairs. Worse, there was a wheelchair ramp, in a place that you could never get to in a wheelchair. I could have gotten to it, but I found another way. It looks like they had closed an entrance that would have been a lot better? I suppose there was some reason they closed that entrance. Maybe it was some city thing? I managed, but damn, if you're in a wheelchair and you're not up for a cruel joke, I'd avoid this place. read more

Very cool, hipster place to get coffee and a light snack in East Austin. I loved the vibe here. It is obviously a favorite neighborhood hangout at all times of day. Both times I visited I had the iced vanilla latte. It was delish! My favorite experience was the day they had empanadas as a special. I tried to bacon and potato empanada. It was not the empanada of my childhood in Panama, but it was yummy. There was a spicy guac type of dipping sauce that definitely gave it a kick. My favorite aspect of this shop was the people watching. There is a very diverse crowd that visits here and they were all extremely friendly. Excellent flavors and a nice small salad of greens to accompany the dish. Mango fields salad was simple and light, but nothing special. Perfect for if you want a refreshing light meal or snack though. My only drawbacks of cenote would be the lack of parking, lack of availability of some menu items, long line that we encountered, and the long wait- all signs of a popular venue, but we were expecting an in and out, order at the counter and get your food right away type place. I dream of this place. On a Sunday morning in NYC, filled with delicious brunch spots, Cenote is what I think of. 100%. If you are in Austin, I'm marking this as an absolutely must try. This is a locals spot. You see grad students working on their laptops, people writing screenplays, friends catching up after work, carb loading after yoga. Cenote has this absolutely Austin feel. What you need to try: 1. Chai latte - dirty. Get that espresso shot. It doesn't matter if it's iced or hot. This is one of the best chai lattes I have ever had. 2. ALL THE BREAKFAST TACOS. I love the migas taco for the texture of the tortilla strips. The chorizo has so much flavor. One taco can fill you but two will put you in a happy food coma. 3. $4 mimosa? Done. 4. Potatoes. 5. All brunch items are fantastic. $13 for tacos and a latte. That's the best price point for amazing food. This is definitely not a large group place. Parties of four or less are the best way to go. Also, if you're ordering a drink, remember to grab it from the counter before you sit down. Either way, Cenote is one of my favorite places in Austin and best breakfasts/brunches that I've had. That comes with foam right? Well it had a pretty leaf, but the foam was a mere skimming to draw on really. Not sure what they consider foam, but for your info - that's not it. Our food came out and can't say I was overwhelmingly impressed with the presentation, but really is food to look at so much as to tantalize your taste buds?? My kale Benedict was decent, but I don't know I'd write home to mom about it and my boyfriends Cenote omelet ... well let's just say liquid eggs on the flip side is very unappealing. came here for brunch with a group on a saturday. there was a line out the door, which was fine, but a bit slow moving. you order at the counter and get a number for the table, which is also fine, but definitely not the brunch vibe we were looking for. there were orders of eggs benedict, smash burger, hot honey chicken sandwich, and bahn mi tacos. everything looked so good. unfortunately, despite us trying different items, everyone felt like their dishes were just missing something and nobody was wowed. because it's counter service and no true wait staff, a lot of the tables were left dirty and you had to flag someone down to get stuff. we didn't get more drinks bc it would have been a pain to stand in line all over again. overall, the space is super cute and probably more ideal to grab a pastry and coffee and sit outside and read versus going to have drinks with a group. read more
