My long-time Manchester favorite, the Sinnamon Shop, closed a few years ago, and I've been looking for a good local eatery ever since that serves an excellent, homemade lunch. Luckily I found Center Perk on Main St. Friendly folk serve up great food. I can especially recommend the homemade soups. Chunky tomato soup and sausage/kale are the two most recent ones I've had, and they were worth writing home about. Portions are generous, and so I'd love to see a 1/2 sandwich/cup of soup option on the menu for those of us who want to watch our quantity but still get all those great tastes. I came here for a quick breakfast by myself after reading the great yelp reviews and was completely underwhelmed. It was a busy Saturday morning, but since I was alone I was able to snag a spot at the bar area. Immediately, the staff gave me the vibe that I was more of a nuisance than a paying customer. But, I saw them interact with their regulars and saw completely different interactions-- so maybe they just take some warming up. I added the home fries to my meal and they were completely bland. Home fries can be amazing-- and aren't hard-- if you just add some spices. But, for these I needed extra salt and ketchup just to give them a taste. I want to come back, and probably will, but am hoping for a more enjoyable experience. read more

Used to enjoy eating breakfast here. Five, sometimes six days a week. Turnover in the staff has not been good. I waited an eternity a few weeks ago and never got ANY acknowledgement. My husband and I arrived around 10:30 a.m. with our dog to be seated in the patio area. I go inside to the counter to put my name in and was told that there was two parties in front of me and it wouldn't be very long. One hour and a half later and after multiple parties were sat we are finally acknowledged. "Did you put your name in?" " Yes."I said 10 minutes after that I asked my husband to go check on the time because I noticed that so many parties have been seated. They never took my name down or they lost it. A group of women felt bad for my little dog and they were leaving but the staff was taking a while to pack up their food so they decided to bring in their food as well to be box so we can sit under the umbrella. I informed the staff that this was happening. We sat there for 20-30 minutes without even having our table cleared from the previous party. More parties that came after us were being taken care of. I told my husband that we should leave. So we wasted 2 hours waiting. This is really sad this place used to be great. read more

We consider ourselves breakfast experts and today's visit was a pleasant surprise! Excellent, home cooked food in large portions. We had a fluffy Belgian waffle with chocolate chips, Irish eggs benefict and Belgian waffle with sausage gravy and eggs. Extra sides of hash and bacon added too (yup one if our trio eats a lot!). The wait in the cold cramped entry wasn't an ideal start but once seated you quickly realize it's the service and culinary creativity which keeps folks coming back. This is a quaint little breakfast place. Cute decor and mismatching tables, but it fit with the place. The wait staff was nice, but it fid take a while for our food to come out. When it did come out it all looked great, and the smell was enticing. Our group got the three cheese omelette, perks open faced meatloaf, cheese grits, and a taco tot bowl. It was all devoured pretty quickly! The portions definitely looked small when they came out but by the time we all finished we were all stuffed. I've been here enough times to feel comfortable rating this place. I love the thoughtfulness of the name. It's directly across the street from Center Park in Manchester and follows the same type theme as Central Perk/Park from the show Friends. :) Anyway, this place is geared towards serving healthier breakfast/lunch options. They make most of their things from scratch and offer nonstandard options like turkey bacon and turkey sausage. I like that they serve higher quality dishes, but don't have the very high prices to match. No matter what you get, it's usually a good deal as the portions are quite large. On my last visit I got the buffalo chicken omelet with home fries, wheat toast, and an extra pancake. The omelet was very good. I was concerned that chicken might not be enough but this omelet was filling! They put much more grilled chicken in it than k was expecting and the flavor was nice. Spicy yet tasty with the blue cheese dressing in the omelet. The home fries are more like chunks of lightly fried potatoes. You definitely know that these were made in-house and not from the freezer section at the local grocer. The pancakes they make are EXACTLY as I like them. Large, thin, and crispy! Mmmmmm. As a nice touch, they have a bed & breakfast style theme going with the plates. 5 plates at our table and none of them were the same design. Definitely felt more like I was eating at home when you also factor in the photos on the wall. Their lunch offerings are pretty standard but breakfast/brunch is where they shine. Our first time and out last. Nice little restraunt. But 23 dollars for a simple breakfast and 4.50 for 2 coffees. I got the veggie delight tasted good but the eggs from the carton made it look like a pile of whit shit. I had to ask what am I eating. Went to Center Perk with a friend for breakfast. The waitstaff was very friendly and did an excellent job refilling coffee and offered very prompt service! I ordered the the avocado bacon wrap. I'll start with the positives...1) I love jus location right near my house 2) so cute inside. Very homey. Love the retro 50's style tables. 3) my favorite is the bfast quesadillas. Other food is just okay, but these are good. 4) play area is great idea for the kids so I can have nice bfast with my sister or friends while they are entertained. Now for what needs to be better in order for me to give 4 or 5 stars: 1) sweet potato hash rows were undercooked. Need to chop your potato pieces smaller so they carmelized brown up nice on the grill. Not very good. My regular hash browns were better Han my friends sweet potato ones. 2) ummmm...you call the kids pancakes caterpillar pancakes but they were just four circles of d deferent sizes stacked on one another. Would it kill you to put like a chocolate chip eye on and maybe squeeze some strawberry jelly out for antennas and legs? You need to make these way cuter and more kid appealing. Boring! Come on now! If you say caterpillar then make it a caterpillar. 3) the brioche french toast with cranberries just okay. The frenchtoast is not light and fluffy. A bit dense. read more

Terribly slow. Wait staff did not seem in sync at all. Food was mediocre, at best. We waited for a table (to be expected on a weekend morning), then waited an exorbitantly long time for our order to be taken. People who ordered after us got their food first, our server did not come to check if we liked the food. From the time we walked in the door, to the time we got our food was a little over an hour. I like this place a lot. It's one of the only spots locally that has great eggs benedict and amazing corned beef hash. They actually have "Irish Eggs Benedict" which has hash and Benedict all in one..I would say one of the few downsides to this spot is the location. I travel all over North America and have had some of the best breakfasts in Washington state, Maine, North Dakota, and Texas, but nothing comes even close to the local breakfast at Center Perk. I have taken friends and family there and we all agree that this is the best breakfast in America since Supertramp came up with the song. The Farmer Grits are wonderful.
