Being still somewhat new to Manchester, I went in on a Saturday morning for breakfast thinking this was just a coffee shop, but was pleasantly surprised to find its so much more! I sat at the counter & got the feeling the place sees a lot of regulars. It seemed me and the gentleman who grabbed a seat next to me could be the only newbies. I ordered one their special oatmeals it was coconut & chai tea - sounds weird, but it was actually delicious & I accompanied it with a "grilled" (literally their way of warming, they split the muffin in half and let it warm on the grill) pumpkin chocolate chip muffin that was equally as delicious! I would definitely go back & look forward to trying more items on their menu! read more

Cute little place. Had breakfast here on a Saturday morning, it wasn't too busy and we were able to sit right away. Great coffee! Irish eggs Benedict - very good. Lots of options to build your own omelette. The only negative was that the tomatoes were uncooked in the omelette, but I just pushed them aside. Went here for breakfast this morning. I'm local, and I like to support local businesses whenever possible. It was crowded, but we had good timing, there was one table open. The decor is kitchsy, kind of country kitchen, but not TOO country kitchen. I ordered cinnamon coffee and my daughter ordered toasted marshmallow coffee. I didn't realize the flavor was already adding sweetness, so I unfortunately added sugar, which made it way too sweet, but the server was great when I told her what I did and brought me a new cup of cinnamon coffee. Without the sugar, it was great. I had the signature breakfast - 2 eggs, with home fries, bacon or sausage and toast. I had 2 eggs over easy with rye toast and sausage. I usually get bacon, but I saw that other people had bacon that wasn't crispy enough for me. My daughter had french toast and corned beef hash. The food did take a long time to come out, but when it did, it was hot and quite good. The home fries had a lot of seasoning (no salt, but other seasoning), not quite as browned as I like them but cooked well and tasty. The eggs were great, which they should be in every breakfast place. Toast was buttered with actual butter. The sausage was okay, not the greatest I've ever had. I couldn't finish the last one. I did try a bite of the corned beef hash and that was a winner, really delicious, and definitely not out of a can. I will definitely be back, because there were a lot of things on the menu I want to try. read more

Ok but over priced. The service has gotten much better since last year. I just wish they didn't run out of things so often.

I live directly across the park from Center Perk, and love Main Street. Here's the deal with Center Perk: from the newspaper article months before opening through today, they've been a little small minded ... Kinda tipping their toe in the water of this deal. So in efforts to keep overhead low they've hired family. Some with experience, some without. And the result is not always getting what you ordered, slow service, but really charming people. I've gone in a handful of times with a load of patience and come out happy, but if I wanted exactly what I ordered in 10 min I'd be rating 2 stars. The French toast brioche was terrific, the eggs Benedict was pretty good (would have liked the spinach I ordered) and the home fries and omelets are pretty good. Coconut lattes are yum. What these nice folk should do is lure a line cook and a waitress from Landmark, Brass Key, Sunny Side Up, Fani's, or somewhere else that gets it right all the time and let them show them how it's done. read more

I had heard from a friend that had gotten takeout from Center Perk (a year ago) that the food was good, so I decided to check it out. I love trying new places, especially locally owned businesses in Manchester. Upon arrival, we walk in and were not greeted but walked past, ok, maybe we have to go up to the front and ask for a table? Once sat, we didnt know who of the 4 waitresses walking by without acknowledgment would be serving us. After about ten minutes, we were greeted. While waiting an hour for our food, we had to ask for coffee refills twice, once the server had forgotten, probably because socializing was more important. Then the food comes out, I was not surprised it was inaccurate. I had to go up to the "social stand" to inquire on that. I had overheard that one table outside left, another came in and inquired on their food, as well as a takeout customer came back and their order was wrong. It was easy to hear all of this because we were sitting close to the register area. It would be one thing if the restaurant was overwhelmed because of it being busy (it wasnt overly busy), I understand that, however, check in with your tables, give refills, and let them know the food will be out. Very poor customer service, and the food was not great. I had worked in the service industry for over ten years, and know that a servers performance impacts the customers experience. The atmosphere is cute, and I liked that the kitchen staff was all women, from what I could see. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

At Center Perk, meats and vegetables are purchased from local vendors and farmers whenever possible, and any baked goods not made in-house are also purchased locally, including breads from Strano Bakery. What are made in-house are gorgeously giant muffins in a wide variety of flavors, like "triple berry" and "banana walnut." We hear they will be sampling those muffins during the Taste of Manchester, too! But there's more to breakfast than baked goods. Rather than plain French toast, Center Perk has the "Overnight" version - Texas-toast-sized slices topped with apples, brown sugar and pure maple syrup. Only had breakfast there, but each time was consistently good. The omelet was simple, but filling, and the home fries are well seasoned and tasty! Their coffee is great! I even witnessed several patrons coming JUST for coffee to go! My husband and I love to sit outside and have breakfast, but they need more than 2 tables out there. read more

My first impression of Center Perk was that of a grandma's house comfort bite place. The restaurant was decorated in such a way that made you feel welcomed while also separating itself from other comfort food restaurants. The pulled pork grilled cheese along with the slightly over cooked home fries left a pleasant feeling in my belly. The customer service was great, the waiter was very outgoing as far as taking the effort to re enter the restaurant and come out to inform my friend and I of the soup of the day. I have visited this restaurant in the past, but was immensely disappointed when I recommended the restaurant to my parents from out-of-town. They waited so long for their food as three other tables received service before my parents did. Then the pancakes were under-cooked, and so a three-cent tip was given. I called the manager and she was immediately on the defensive. She warily explained that there were only two cooks even though it's Christmas Eve morning. She then proceeded to call my parents' version "untrue" since, according to her, there were 4 ticket orders before theirs, and complained that they did not even give the waitress a tip. I am extremely disappointed, not because there were only two cooks on one of the busiest days of the year. I'm extremely disappointed because of the way the manager responded to customer complaints. It seems obvious that she is unaware of how to behave with customers because calling them liars and stingy is not the way to deal with customer complaints. She did not even explain the reason pancakes were under-cooked. I will NEVER return to this restaurant or recommend it again. I hope you never have to complain about this restaurant because you will not be treated well. read more

I came here for breakfast with a friend a couple of months back. I don't walk into restaurants with extremely high expectations, because I hate to be disappointed. Unfortunately, even with low expectations, Center Perk still managed to disappoint me. After walking in and thinking what a cute place this is, we waited quite a few minutes to get someone to come over to ask if we wanted coffee. Five minutes later luke warm coffee was presented to me. The waitress was so busy greeting her friends who came in to sit at the counter I think she forgot to bring me coffee. I ordered an omelette and potatoes. When my breakfast was brought out, the food was somewhat warm (like my coffee), but oh well, I was here with a friend and making the most of it until........one long hair presented itself coiled around my potatoes. Unless you have a LOT of time, try someplace else. We arrived on A Sunday morning at 9:30 and understandably had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The waitress came over and we placed our order promptly. 20 minutes later we finally got our breakfasts. Meanwhile there were 5 waitresses to serve the 12 or 13 tables! Not a huge workload in my view. So..:The egg sandwich one of us had was OK, but the eggs over weren't so good and the home fries were tasteless except the grease flavor that was terrible. When we were done and wanted to pay and give our table to those waiting, we again had a long wait...I finally got up and tracked down the waitress! I understand you're busy but at least acknowledge our presence. After standing there for about 10mins turned around and walked out. Cute little place..seat yourself..went on a Wed. at about 9:45 am for bf. After ordering it took 40 minutes to get our food. I was not pleased with the regular homefries..tasted like reheated roasted potatoes no spices or flavor. My Speedy Gonzalez omelette left a lot to my imagination. I had to remind server I had ordered toast which luckily was good as that is all I ate of that meal. My friend enjoyed her eggs benedict. Servers were very friendly but quite inexperienced. Many patrons were anxious about waiting so long for their meals. I don't think I will be going back. They need a much bigger kitchen staff as when it gets crowded there will be many unhappy folks. What a pleasant surprise. We were essentially stuck all day while waiting for for our car to be serviced in Manchester. On a recommendation we wandered into this bkft/lunch venue. Mismatched tables,chairs,dishes & cups-- wall-to-wall artwork from area collectible shops ; locals noshing casually on their meals. It was a throwback to any college town hangout from the 60's, except for our average age being approximately 65 or so. Just wanted to sit there all day. And then the meals arrived! This really was notches above what we expected. My French Connection croissant was done with lightly shirred eggs, spinach & spiced to perfection could easily rate a 9 of 10. Coffee was perfecto! Rye toast was to my liking. I'm fussy about my bread. Price was surprisingly low. Go to Manchester, stroll up Main St. Chances are, you might walk right past it . DON'T. ! INSTEAD, KEEP LOOKING. . . Really fantastic breakfast food spot in the now restaurant Mecca of downtown Main Street Manchester. I had Irish eggs Benedict you can tell everything on the plate was made from scratch with love (hollandaise I dont know i never tell when it's "real" but it's always good anyways). Potatoes were fantastic. Service was pretty good, a little slow but what can you expect when it's crazy busy and the food is worth the wait. I have visited this restaurant several times and have thoroughly enjoyed experience each time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with amazing old photographs of Main Street. The staff is very hospitable and attentive to your every need. Everyone we encountered at Center Perk was happy, enthusiastic and passionate about providing the best service possible. The food has also been just as great; I have ordered something different each time. Delicious fried pickles and Reuben sandwich. While relaxing and waiting for our meal we had excellent conversations with the waitstaff and were even given complimentary muffins while we waited. The wait time for our food was nothing to complain about because we felt better knowing our food was fresh, homemade (they even make their own veggie burger), and it's clear they put substantial time into making sure it tastes delicious. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I have had a couple of breakfasts and lunch there, and it has been consistently good and fresh food every time. The staff is SO friendly, they are super nice to my almost 2 year old son, and go out of their way to make sure we are all happy. My husband and I go here almost every Saturday morning. I try all kinds of different things, but their Benedict breakfasts are my favorite ! @nd favorite would be any of the french toast options and you cannot go wrong with any one of the grilled muffins on the menu.
