Do not come here if you have nice clothes that need to be dry cleaned. They washed some of my jeans that will never go back to their original fit after explicitly telling them to dry clean them. Sad. Also quite expensive for the area and the city in general. Took minimum 5 minutes to realize I had been waiting patiently in their business ... / counter. Took a week to finish a couple shirts and pants and now I have two pairs of $300+ jeans that don't fit as they should. This was a year ago. Very nice folks. Brought pants in for an alteration. As another review mentioned, they can be slightly conservative on the hem, and unfortunately it came back a hair too long for me. I mentioned I wanted it to not touch the floor upon initial pinning. I brought the pants back and they took it back to re-hem with no issues. Needed to get my wife's wedding dress and my tux a post-wedding cleaning. Timely - Brought my garments in on a Monday and they were done by Saturday. Convenient - Love that they're open early at 7am and close late at 6pm on weekdays making it really convenient for my work schedule. Friendly - James, the owner, offered to stay until 6:30pm to wait for me for pickup! Considering it's the Mission and parking is scarce, any extra time was much appreciated. He even provided me with some married life advice free of charge. Lol. Well-priced & good service - Pricing seemed appropriate and actually cheaper than I expected: I paid $142 total for 2 dress shirts, 1 suit jacket, 1 suit pant, and 1 wedding dress. Makeup stains on my white suit jacket and dirt from the wedding dress train were completely removed! Overall, I would gladly bring my business back to Central Cleaners. read more

I brought two shirts in to Central Cleaners to be dry cleaned. When I picked them up, both shirts were worse than when I brought them in. The stains on my white shirt came out but now there are new mysterious stains that look like splattered blood. My blue shirt had no stains just a dirty collar. Now the collar is clean but there are all these new stains that look like oil stains. When I explained the situation to the proprietor and showed him what I was concerned about, he refused to acknowledge the problem, telling me that that's what the shirts looked like when I brought them in. That is absolutely not the case. He didn't offer to clean them again or give me a refund. That is unacceptable and I will never use Central Cleaners again. read more

They lost my clothes .. twice!! I went there for the first time a month and when I went to pickup my clothes, someone else's clothes were in my laundry bag. I had to walk back to the store and when I told them it wasn't my clothes, they had no idea where my clothes were. They took my number and said they would call me whenever whoever took my clothes returned them. When I finally got my clothes back, it was missing one of my socks from my favorite pair. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I dropped off my clothes this month. When I went to pick my clothes up, once again someone else's clothes were in my bag. They opened every laundry bag, for me to tell them that those weren't my clothes. Once again they had no idea where my clothes were located and took my number. Thankfully both times whoever accidentally got my clothes returned them. I'm never going back as there was no customer recovery, my clothes were missing 100% of the time I used their services and overall it is not worth the stress. Due to my freakish 34" waist, 35" inseam pants requirements, I can't buy khakis off the shelf. The only economical solution I've found is buying 34-36 pants from Gap.com and then getting Doris to hem them up an inch. She does an expert job for less than the cost of Gap shipping. You must understand the depths of my love for this woman. I am too tall to shop at regular department stores, too skinny to shop at big and tall retailers, and too financially sane to have clothes custom made. When Doris perfects my pants, I feel whole. It is a beautiful thing. Also, she is perhaps the friendliest and sunniest dry-cleaner lady I've ever encountered. I've absolutely had it with this place. Dry cleaning ordered to be picked up at a particular day and time is invariably late or I'm forced to stand around while they press my stuff despite the fact that it was supposed to be ready several days before. Another problem is the fact that they do not accept credit cards. Hell, I even unearthed my checkbook from under my bed, after being told that they do accept checks, only to discover that they do not, in fact, accept checks. I'm waiting for them to tell me that cash is out and that I have to pay them with golden ingots or rubies. Its a shame that customer service is so lacking here since they do a really good job when everything does come out right. read more

I could handle that the owner was rude. I could handle that she annoyingly only took cash. What I CAN'T handle is her ruining my (nice) clothing and saying it wasn't her fault. 'Call the manufacturer, it's their fault.' Yes, I am sure my 7 For all Mankind skinny pants were defective and that is why they came back 5 shades lighter and with parts of them weirdly stretched out. This is the last straw. A few silk items were a bit faded and a less expensive shirt of my boyfriends went from navy blue to grey in the past, but her response to me trying to talk to her about the pants is totally unacceptable. Never going back to her and will be wishing bad things on her. Nothing terrible, just enough to make her sad like me. Goodbye favorite skinny pants. Lately I've been trying to eliminate lifestyle tasks that have a high effort-to-payoff ratio. I don't know why I didn't think of laundry service earlier, as it's wonderful if you find the right company. I guess I always subconsciously associated wash and fold with hotels, and thus, hotel prices. At $1 per pound, the price of wash and fold here is pretty fantastic. The only cheaper I've seen is down the block at 24 Guerrero Cleaners (69 cents), which I plan to check out for comparison soon. The woman behind the counter was sweet and friendly. I even inadvertently left a dry clean-only shirt in the laundry bag, which she cleaned for no additional charge. (Probably not normal policy, just good business) The closet/drawer footprint of your clothes is even lowered, as they know how to fold your shirts tightly (paper-thin) here. And at 16 bucks for 16 pounds, I can think of a few lifestyle automation techniques that have better value. read more

I adore Doris at Central Cleaners. She does an amazing job at altering your clothes and getting your clothes back in a timely manner. She really is very talented at what she does. From altering a dress over night for me for an important event to washing my dog's stinky blanket she can get out any stain or mend any garment for you. I trust her completely with all of my clothes and she is very accommodating at working with your schedule. I recommend bringing your clothes to her in the morning if you need a quick turn around. I used to live down the street from her and now I live in a different neighborhood and I still choose Doris at Central Cleaners over my local dry cleaners. I live around the corner from Central Cleaners and go there exclusively, but have often contemplated what I would do for dry cleaning if I moved out of the neighborhood and time after time the fruits of my deep thinking have yielded many passionate proclamations of loyalty to Central Cleaners. I would come back even if I had to swim across Mission Bay from Oakland through the gross chemical dischargey water by the factories in Hunter's Point. The people here are wonderful and they do a great job and after a couple visits they remember which shirts are yours when you walk in the door. It's not always next day service, but I'm OK with that because the trade off is that you know who's cleaning your shirt and you know they care. read more

It always seems hard to find a good, reliable dry cleaners and this place is pretty decent. The woman who is always there (owner?) is very nice and the majority of things I've sent there have come back as I hoped (she even got the soy sauce sain out of my white silk blouse!). On a low note, I just picked up a silk dress that is supposed to be wrinkled and they pressed the wrinkles out of it...even after we talked about it when I dropped it off. She had asked and so I assumed it would be fine, but she must have forgotten. Annoying, but fixable. I think. We love Doris. She's super sweet and is wonderfully professional. We get all our wash and fold done here as well as dry cleaning. Not only does Doris do a great job, she goes above and beyond by: - She pulls out collared shirts from our wash and fold and hangs them so the collars lie right. - My fiance sweats a lot, so sometimes she'll have the item cleaned twice for the same price. - She'll call us if she finds a tear in an item and will ask us if we want to fix it, or she'll call if she finds a dry cleaning item in our wash and fold and she'll save it. We've also never lost any items by bringing them to Doris, never had our clothes not ready on the day we request, and we've also rediscovered wardrobe space because she folds so tightly.
