I have almost all of my clothes dry cleaned. . . My monthly dry cleaning bill is quite high. I've been having items dry cleaned my entire life... I have never been been spoken to or treated so poorly. They are more of a fluff and fold. They send dry cleaning out and take no responsibility for the quality or outcome... And the owner spoke so horrifically you me. Shocking. Such poor customer service... people are just desperate for services. read more

Really kind and friendly and SUPER GOOD AT LAUNDERING!! Had a major mouse infestation at the house and needed all my exposed laundry to be washed. They happily handled my ridiculously large load with expediency and professionalism. They were extremely honest about what was worth the cost of cleaning and that they outsource their dry cleaning so I was able to get a better rate directly for my dry cleaning at another place. They helped load & weigh and also helped bag the wrapped packages for the ride home in the back of a truck. Good people & good job done! read more

This is not a Dry Cleaners! I repeat, this is not a Dry Cleaners! I brought in my normal items I would dry clean as usual, and I should have known something was off. They kept telling me just throw it in the washer, or they can't do this, or that. I've been bringing t-shirts and certain jeans to be dry cleaned for years. Not at this establishment, but I'm familiar with the process. The items I did leave, omfg. One was a brand new pair of jeans worn a few times and never washed. I tell you when I got them back they were faded, tattered, and 2 sizes too small. They literally were thrown in the washer and dried, then hung up and claimed to be dry cleaned. The man at the front desk acted oblivious and of course refuted my claims. I was livid! The jeans were unwearable! I left them on the counter! As for what happens to be my favorite shirt at the moment, they did the same thing. Like it was thrown in the washer, I could tell because I was discolored and tinged with yellow. A brand new white shirt! Then, it was pressed horribly! It looks like it was ironed by a 6 year old. The man at the front desk was rude the entire time! He blatantly said, "it doesn't matter how much your items cost, that doesn't mean they need to be dry cleaned". Please keep your clothes safe and do not bring them here! We have used Hansens for Fluff & Fold, hand wash and dry cleaning for over six years. we began when the machine in our building broke and stayed with them for all this time due to their quality, value for money and the friendliness of the family who own and operate the business. Many times rushing for a trip I've needed ridiculous turn-around. Our baby had an accident and 1 day later her ski jacket was clean and ready for more adventure. we simply love them. read more

1) Lost my dress. 2) Would not admit that they had lost it, and were not willing to do anything to make up for having lost it - not even waive my next dry cleaning fee. 3) I went in 5 different times hoping it was found. 4) They finally found it (about two weeks after I initially went to pick it up) and gave me a call. 5) I was in disbelief when they still charged me full price for an item they lost, after I had been back 5 times. Horrible customer service. I've dry cleaned there before and had a good experience, but why would I go back when I know they might lose my item, and then refuse to take steps to remedy their mistake? These sentiments are repeated in other reviews - that Hansen's lost folks' items or damaged them, and would do nothing to remedy the situation. Don't take the risk! read more

I am very upset the fact they shrank my fav. shirt. It is cheap and shit but they never use softener and everything is so hard when I wear it. you get what you pay~ and the receptionist guy is very rude plus...if you are real professional they do not need me to tell them what needs to be watched as in hot water or cold water. you need to know if your clothes get damaged, they won't do shit but blame on you! So if you want to take it to them, you better know all of your cloth how it need to be watched and separate them before you go. read more

I have been going to Hansen's for my my wash-n-fold for years. I don't even live in the Castro anymore, but I still take my laundry there. They have never damaged a single item of clothing in the almost 20 years I've been using them (just the occasional lost sock, but that's to be expected). They also have the best rates around. By my calculations, it costs about twice as much to have Hansen's wash-n-fold as it is to do your laundry in a laundromat, but sooooo worth it! Nothing beats having your day freed up by the time you won't be spending doing laundry. :) They are the best! read more

So, I went to this laundry for a wash & fold because my original person was sick. Therefore, I took my laundry here as an alternative. I thought it was a great deal for my clothes which it was, until I received my down comforter back which finished much later than my clothes had. Yes, $32 to wash and dry one down comforter?! WHAT?! My original wash & fold laundromat (per pound) only cost me $5. I recommend to not wash & fold blankets or comforters here due to the outrageous price!! I am a very VERY patient person... but after a year- I finally ran out of patience. Here is why: (1) Their prices vary depeding on the day!! Seriously. If the son is there- the prices are consistent, but the father has a tendency to charge a dollar or two more per item... (2) I took several suits to be altered: THEY RUINED IT. The father who does alteration, doesn't want to bother w/pinning the pants (for take in's). He relies on "1 inch" /etc. As you can imagine, this can be problematic if all the pants are not the same size/ brand (ie: One design may have the waist higher up vs. another have it a bit lower/ etc.) When I took couple of the pants back and showed that the waist was clearly not taken in enough, he charged me an additional $11 each to finish the job. (2)(b) If you will have your pants taken in, he will only do the waist and up to the thigh area... so then you will end up w/a big flare on the hip area (like hammer pants in the '90's!). I had to take it back for him to fix it. (then he stopped at the knee, so the flare was there, and I gave up!) (3) Once they lost a suit. They agreed to pay for it, but asked if I would wait 90 days before they pay me! read more

I hate laundry. My boyfriend hates it even more. So on laundry days (usually weekends), we usually (a) fight over whose turn it is (b) bribe the other or (c) just don't do it until there's nothing to wear to work anymore. Yeah, so, we're that bad. So this weekend when he came up with the idea of outsourcing our laundry, I couldn't be happier. YES! Our lazy selves loved the feeling of just dropping off all our dirty clothes to Hansen's and coming back a few hours later with all our clothes washed, dried, neatly folded, stacked and wrapped in a brown bag. Perfectly folded shirts, matching socks folded together, towels rolled, all without slaving away for hours...Ahh, this is the life..... I honestly don't care about the prices much since I'm just glad to be able to get rid of laundry chores. However, it's a welcome bonus that the prices are very very reasonable at Hansen's (less than $1 per lb). The family who runs it is also very nice and professional. They were able to finish our big load in just a few hours. After discovering this little gem of wash-and-fold greatness, we would definitely be using their laundry services from now on. A true testament to the awesomeness of Yelp -- as an SF n00b I never had to bother with rip-off wash 'n' folds, and have yet to lose as much as a sock. Every time I pick up my laundry at Hansen's I say, "You guys are one the best thing to ever happen to me." And I mean it. The prices are so reasonable, and the family that runs it is so friendly, it's hard to imagine ever doing my own laundry again. I was nervous of the cost while picking up my laundry there today, because I did three sets of sheets, all of my towels and two weeks worth of laundry. $44!!! That's the most it has ever cost. What I like about Hansen's... - Fair prices - Nice people - Their presses don't beat the shit out of my clothes (at other places, my new shirts look weathered pretty fast. - They don't destroy my buttons - The collars on my shirts (where the top button closes) is nice and straight. I love these guys. Even though there are laundry places closer to my house, it is always worth it to drive over to Hansen's. Their Wash-and-Fold is the best I've tried. Laundry comes back perfectly folded, ironed, wrapped in brown paper like little gifts. And at 70 cents a pound, I'll never go to a laundromat again. read more

All I can say is that this is the FIRST dry-cleaner I've ever used where my clothes don't come out smelling like old man, but actual chemicals. Sound weird? Ever put on a dry-cleaned coat and wonder if it was actually cleaned? A lot of places don't frequently change out their chemicals/filters and so it leads to smelly dry cleaning. Hansen's made everything smell like it should and came out perfectly pressed. Oh, did i mention I took a floor length, teal blue silk gown and had it come out just fine? Look, for any of you who are silly enough to take alterations not to Sutter Tailor or Nordstrom - that's your fault. I don't trust anyone but those two places with my clothes and neither should you. As for losing things....I've yet to find a dry cleaner that does things in-house in the city - everyone sends out and yeah it's bound to happen that shit gets lost. This isn't in their defense, it's just how things go in life. Whether or not they are cool enough to reimburse - well that I will give you. Slightly more pricey than others in the area, but as far as I'm concerned, it's my new place in the hood. read more

I hate doing laundry. I'd rather clean out the cat boxes, do the scariest dishes, mop floors, clean that bathroom from Trainspotting (ok, maybe not that one) or floss someone else's teeth. You get the idea. Hate the laundry. Took hombre's and my umpteen tons of laundry to Hansen's last Saturday, picked everything up on Monday afternoon. The guy at the counter was nice enough to carry the majority of the laundry out to my car cause I look like a dumbass when I try to be macho. And he complimented my excellent parking spot out front. Incredibly kind, helpful people, our clothes are spankin' clean, cat-hair free (thank gawd, those little furry fucks are driving me bananas!) and the price was well worth the exceptional, fast service. Yay Hansen's! FYI - 1. Parking's particularly brutal in this neighborhood, you've got to be a lucky bitchola like me. Or ride up on your horse or spaceship. 2. Hansen's is closed on Sunday's. 3. Don't let white shirt guy put you off, this place is amazing. I walked in slightly nervous because I had never gotten my laundry done by someone else before, and the outside of it looks shady as heck. Their store sign is made out of cardboard, and looks like either a really really fancy homeless person's sign, or the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign your 8 year old made for you. My mood was brightened by the orchids in the window, though. I had 4 huge loads of laundry to be done, dropped them off at noon and they were ready by 6 ($22!! omg ch33p!!). It was like xmas all over again, coming home and unwrapping my goodies. Perfectly folded, with a very faint scent of soap. Mostly they smelled like nothing. THEY EVEN FOLDED ME PANTIES. There were a couple of vintage shirts in there from my mom. One shirt, which is like older than me but I still love it, had these weird yellowy deodorant stains on it that I couldn't bleach out because the shirt itself was purple. Miraculously, like Jesus, these stains faded considerably while the shirt was in their care. Hell yeah! But anyways, white shirt guy was way too harsh. I'm thinking he's some high-power business dude who never worked a day of retail in his life, and expects everyone below him in status to work PERFECTLY, every day at every moment, like some sort of mystical robot from the future. You either get 5 stars or no stars from that guy, there's no in between. I loathe to deal with these people at my work, so let's all be glad he doesn't bother these nice people anymore. These guys are the best! They have a quick turn around time, and are always so friendly when your there. I will NOT do laundry again, as long as they are here! If you are anything like me, I don't want to spend my weekend doing laundry. And with not having a washer and dryer where I live, it was costing me MORE to do it myself. read more

I was at 18th St. Cleaners before and took it here for a couple months. They never use sheets in the dryer. All my clothes always have static cling. In addition, the pillow sheets that they cleaned were all dirty as if they put it in the wash without detergent. They don't even match your socks together they just throw them all together . read more

I like them. I really do. They're nice. They're quick. But... my one pet peeve about my shirts is don't write on them and they did.. They wrote on the labels of every shirt I took in to be laundered/pressed instead of using those paper tags that some other cleaners put through a button hole. I should have asked before I dropped off my clothes but with all these possible reviews on Yelp, I figured I didn't have to. I can't possibly be the only one who doesn't like their shirt labels defaced. Lesson learned. read more

Gone to this place a number of times for dry cleaning and for hemming and other sewing work. I have consistently been disappointed with their work. Dry cleaned clothes have come back with small stains on them (that wash right out, but still), and the sewing work has always been crappily done, sometimes to the point of ruining the clothes. Sadly, they are open the longest hours, so I keep fooling myself into going back and hoping this time will be different. And each time I am disappointed. read more

Hansen's does a good job on wash and fold at a great price. I hate doing laundry period. There is only one washer & dryer in my building, it costs $4 / load plus detergent to do it myself, and it takes me hours to do a week's worth of laundry. For only a bit $$ more, I can drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. Talk about a deal and a time saver. Only caveat: they dry things on super high, so don't give them any delicate garments or stuff at risk of shrinking. I learned the hard way. read more
