I'm very disappointed from them , I put my PC to repair , the power supply had a problem as they said after inspection and I let them to replace it. After the repair when I turned my computer on, some settings been changed , and the HDMI port for one of the monitors stop working. I came back to the store and the guy refused to help me or explain me the problem he was rude and inpatient. He just said they only done work on my hardware, when obviously they been changing settings with my software. And he refused to check the problem with my HDMI connection by telling me that I should connect my monitor to another input by purchasing a connector with them. read more

Wow, I was so impressed with my visit to this place recently. I was honestly expecting a little hole-in-the-wall dirty and dusty business but it turned out to be the complete opposite. The friendly staff that is proactive and will approach you if you have questions oh, the place was extremely clean and organized. It reminded me of the old Fry's stores. Shady store: Please make sure you check your items before you leave their premise. I went to purchase an ASUS motherboard there. The clerk seemed overly eager to sell me the board. I kind of had a sense that some was wrong, but I didn't open the box and check the board. The board turned out to be a used board with badly bend CPU pins. When I took it back to the store, they claim that the board has to be new and there is no way that it was like that. The clerk that sold me the board was kind of avoiding me when I first stepped in to return the board. I am sure he knew that was a bad board. Anyway, they pointed me to their T&Cs and said no return and no refund and I have to stick with a $200 board which is completely unusable! There is no way that management doesn't know that the board is bad. They were trying to find a victim and capitalize on the situation. I would suggest never to purchase anything from there! I've only ordered online and never really been to the actual Santa Clara location although I've known its presence there for a while now. However, online ordering is sooo easy and they ship out so fast that one time I actually received my ordered item the very next day after placing an AM order the day before. Their parts are cheap and carry a ton of parts for computers that are sometimes hard to find elsewhere. It's pretty sad that a computer supply stores system goes down but it's really sad that their employees rely on computers so much that when this does happen they can't calculate a sale and include the tax like come on guys are you tooo smart to do basic math or are you just that lazy with the "there's an app for that" attitude. I've driven past this building hundreds of times and never thought to go in - but with Frys basically a ghost town, this was my best option for a little help and ideally taking the tech home. I went in with a weird corner case involving multiple computers, monitors and OS's. Chester Yeung met me at the counter, listened and actually heard my problem. He then made it his own - he asked informed questions, considered options and finally took my email and told me he'd see if they could find a solution. I left without buying anything and if that was the entire interaction I'd be going back without hesitation. However, that night I got a 5 paragraph email that included references to calls he made, sites he looked at and people he talked to in the store. Still, no cost-effective solution for my problem (might be a good start-up idea), but not for lack of trying. I will be going back again and whenever feasible start there rather than online. I've been there many times in the past and spent some significant money. Service was never their strong point since they are basically a bunch of computer nerds. Today they hit a new low. I went in looking for a specific item, which after wandering the store for 10 minutes, I found locked up in a glass case. There was no one available to help me! All employees were either stocking shelves or on the phone. I hung around hoping somebody would offer to help, then just went home and ordered what I needed on-line. Tip for management: If no one recognizes the customer needs help and offers assistance, it's because no one cares. In that case, they might as well shop on-line. Been here twice now. Will probably come back a few more times. Cool to see a mom-and-pop-esque computer store that carries reputable branded computer components and equipment - things that you would have normally in the past thought to go to Fry's for: Computer cases, Corsair PSUs and water coolers, Cooler Master and Noctua Air coolers, Gpus and MoBos on display. It's surprising to see Fry's (which is just down the street) fail so miserably at this when it should've been their bread and butter. Prices are not as good as online, but they're competitive. And for certain components, it's good to see these things and buy them in person, so I wouldn't mind paying a little more of a premium for that. Deducting a few stars stars because the staff seems to be the stereotypical intimidating, smug, unhelpful, awkward staff that you'd expect at a computer store. But add a star for being a retail store where the online marketplace is king. read more

I always come here when I need little things like earphones or chargers and I always find what I need. Today I needed a charger and I was waiting in line behind one person who was taking awhile checking out. Another cashier came over and said "I can help you over here man" I thought he would've been talking to me since I was CLEARLY next in line, but he looked right past me and was talking to the man behind me who had a load of things. I wish I would've spoke up but I just felt extremely discriminated against. He acted like I wasn't even there. Meanwhile, I guess I didn't notice another cashier had started helping out some other guy who came after me. Luckily, a kind gentleman noticed and spoke up for me saying that 2 people have already cut in front of me. God bless his soul, because I would've lost my sh*t if I saw. They also do their best to ensure you chose the product right for you, not the one to make the most money which I was very happy about. Recently I went here to purchase an external drive backup system for my desktop computer (and I'm *not* techie!). Ian was extremely courteous,knowledgeable and helpful in regard to several things. I purchased the backup system I wanted and then was very surprised and grateful as we conversed further. I asked him if he could recommend the software I should use with my backup system and I also mentioned I needed more DDR2 RAM (old!) He stepped away and brought me a package of this RAM! I was shocked. And, after following his recommendation of the software to use, it turned out that not only was it very easy and amazing for backing up my system but the company also had software I was able to use instead of iTunes.
