Not your typical warehouse brewery - big parking lot and outdoor space. It's located in downtown Austin, no parking lot, no outdoor seating but a must visit for beer lovers. My sister and I were visiting Austin, TX awhile ago and wanted to do an Escape Room -- There is one right next to this little brewery, so after we finished the Escape Room (we escaped, by the way!), we decided to enjoy some beer and celebrate. This spot is in a less busy part of the city and there were not a lot of people inside, but I was in love with the interior decor and the ambience. Very calm, chill and relaxing. We had a couple of beers during a rainstorm in Austin and enjoyed the visit. I really enjoy barrel aged barley wines and strong dark imperial stouts. However,the Moonlight Levitation Imperial Stout was way too sweet for my taste. The Fete De La Bouche Imperial Pastry Stout was better but still sweeter than I like. The Taproom is pleasant and in the usual Industrial Modern decor with board games available and big picnic type tables for big parties. It was a shame I just did not find a beer I liked. read more

A great place in Downtown Austin to hang out and get a handful of drinks. They have plenty of yummy dark beers as well as treats to eat while you drink. I ordered a Kolache with cheese that was super yummy! I had never tried it before and I'm glad I did. Perfect snack to accompany the beers. They also have plenty of board games that are perfect to play with large groups. The ambience is very cute and welcoming for friends to hangout. We came across this little brewery/bar accidentally after a sad performance at the escape room. So as you can imagine we need a little brew to heal the soul. Central District turned out to be pretty great when it came to its aesthetic and it's collection of beers. They had sours, their version of Belgian beer, and some great stouts. I highly recommend the Coco Rico for those venturing into stouts. If you are looking for something light and refreshing, then try the Wit. Central had the options of 4 to a flight or a full pint. Giving you to option to try before you buy. Going to have to bookmark this place for future visits. Pro Tip: order the pretzel. It comes with a paprika aioli, which rocked my world! read more

The 30+ times I've been to breweries I've discovered that they truly are the happiest places on Earth. Customer service and courtesy are typically top-notch because...well...it's a brewery. First let me point out this rating is based more heavily on service than the wonderful beer they served( I'd give a solid "B" on that spectrum). Walk in, bartender says "hi" and starts cleaning mugs. We look around trying to figure out when he'll actually approach us. Ok...oh look menus, guess I'll grab one. Standing there waiting for the "what can I get ya?" Or "first time? Here's our menu, let me know if you have any questions." Bartender jargon. Nothing. My wife says "yeah it's our first time here." "Oh, ok" responds bartender. Finally we decide on our own we'll do a flight and order a pretzel. I'm assuming they specialize in IPAs since they have 4! He takes the order. I return a beer because a random fly fell in one. I tell the bartender I hate to waste good beer but can I get a new one, a fly fell in mine." No reaction, he just asks which beer and refills it. Good craft beer, subpar service. read more

I held my daughter's engagement party at Central District Brewing, and it was the absolute perfect venue for the party. The first indication I had that CDB knew how to host a private event was the brochure, which showed the setups possible, caterers they worked with, options available, etc. I just knew they would work hard to make my event a success. I didn't want to have the party at a place where private events are secondary, or perceived as a nuisance by the staff. Haley, the event manager, was so responsive, and she always emphasized the flexibility of the venue when I would ask her "Can we do, this, or this, or this?" When we arrived, they were ready for us, the caterer was setting up, and the event was a complete success. The location is perfect--downtown, where people like to be. I would recommend CDB for any event you are planning. read more

This is a pretty good brewery. I mostly drink IPAs so I got both of them they both tasted very good and smooth not so hoppy/ dry but very tasty and enjoyable. The ambiance is nice and quite very retro with a "we work here" feel which is a good feeling. The bartender was very helpful and attentive. Overall loved the experience and worth the stop if your in the area. read more

This place can be enjoyed by beer-geeks and beer-novices alike! Small batch craft beer. This is the closest brewery to downtown. Relatively new (8 months old) and they've already won gold at the 2019 GABF for their Wit. They do hazy-IPAs very well, but the tap list isn't limited to such, and also included 2 stouts, a well balanced French saison, a kettled sour, and more. Super friendly and helpful bar tenders who are knowledgeable, and not judgmental of your craft beer knowledge or tastes. They will point you in the right direction. All the beers I tried were clean no matter the style, and everything was easy drinking with enough ABV to keep me satisfied. The brewers even invited me into the brewing room while they were cooling a batch, to chat and show me around. You can choose any of their beers in 5 oz or 12 oz pours, and Crowlers to go. read more

Our hotel was on 7th street so we wanted to check out a brewery close by and we found Central District online! It doesn't look like a brewery from the outside but the inside is quaint and has really cute decor. It wasn't crowded at all. The flight were inexpensive and there was a medium amount of options on the menu. We tried 3 of CD beers and 1 off the "Our Friends" beer list. They were all very similar in my opinion. The best part was the brewery offered cards, games, trivia that we could use while sitting there. read more

Spent time at Central District Brewing on a rainy Monday afternoon. A stylish space in Downtown Austin, but an unimpressive mix of beers on tap. Quality: Central District Brewing is the new kid on the block in Austin. They only had six of their own beers on tap when we arrived. Fan Fare, Bonne Chance, Son of a Peach, Rhythm is a Dancer, Cloaked in a Violet Crown, and Brilliant Disguise made up the forgettable collection of brews. The best of the bunch was Fan Fare, a French Saison, but it was just average. Meanwhile, Son of a Peach lacked the haziness expected of NE IPAs and Brilliant Disguise was even more egregious in its Milkshake IPA label. Quantity: Standard Flight of small taster pours. Value: $10 for a Flight of four. Ambiance: Central District Brewing late entrance into the brewery boom has allowed it to secure prime retail space in Downtown Austin. While the space lacks an outdoor space, the taproom is gorgeous and modern. Simple with wood and copper elements providing life to the area. I also loved the large windows providing views of the street, and on this day the downpour outside. Freshly opened board games sit on a shelf and 90s alternative rock filled the room. Crowd: We arrived during a torrential downpour on a Monday afternoon, so it wasn't too surprising that it was a very small crowd. Service: No energy. With a new brewery, you really need passionate people behind the bar who have knowledge of the beer. That was not the case during our visit. Came here on a Saturday night, and it was pretty empty actually. The guy who served our small group said they're more of a weeknight spot where people go after work. However, I liked that it was fairly empty. We could talk and hear each other, no line for more beer, the guy working was very nice, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. I'd go back here in a minute, either earlier in the night before the rest of the evening plans or for a break inbetween places. Awesome little brewery at the corner of Red River & 5th in the heart of downtown ATX! Was in town for a work conference and found this gem across the Austin Convention Center, and ended up going here every day for a quick brewski. Trent, the GM, was awesome! Don't miss out on their two delicious Hazy IPAs: Sunscreen & Malibu (honestly tried this one out because of the name...and was not disappointed!) and the Son of a Peach. They also got some friend breweries included. I tried out the Space Laser (Brut Doible IPA) by Brewtorium and then most recently tried the 40 Days and 40 Nights (American IPA) by local Lazarus Brewing Co. Definitely on my radar now, was told it's one of the best breweries in ATX. Basically stop by here and try me out! read more
