After our doctor's transition to Diamond Braces, direct oversight of my daughter's treatment noticeably decreased. Most appointments were handled almost entirely by dental assistants, with little to no involvement from the orthodontist whose expertise I had originally been referred to and signed up for. While assistants play an important role, orthodontic treatment is highly specialized, and the lack of consistent doctor supervision, especially when having been directly referred to him, was both obvious and concerning. Not only was it confusing, it also led to a decrease in the quality of the dental work, because of this decline, the treatment time was extended and we were charged for it. After treatment was "over", my daughter was given a permanent retainer which detached in less than 3 months. This was concerning in itself, but even more so given that her teeth had not been fully corrected and were still not in the proper position at the end of years long treatment. For a result that took longer than projected and extended months beyond the original estimated completion date, the outcome simply did not reflect the time, extra cost, or expectations set at the beginning. Overall, the process felt rushed at the end, loosely managed, and far less attentive than promised. I would strongly discourage patients seeking dental work to choose Dr.Schwalb and his new practice at Diamond Braces as it is more than often faulty, dismissive and careless.

Yelp has the honest, negative reviews, in which most had a similar bad experience as me. are I first saw Dr. Roth two years ago based on positive reviews -- a decision I've regretted ever since. On my very first visit, he told me I needed four crowns -- not one or two, but four -- at $4,200 each. This was alarming given that my previous dentist, who I'd been seeing regularly for cleanings and exams, had never mentioned a single crown was needed. Against my better judgment, I agreed to one crown. Once in the chair, I was convinced to do two (because the teeth were next to each other) and was reminded of a "cash discount" -- $4,000 each -- if I paid in cash rather than credit card. This felt questionable, but I trusted them as professionals. I paid $8,000 in cash. During that visit, I was also told I needed to see his partner for additional work -- another $2,000. One of the crowns he placed caused ongoing pain whenever I chewed for over a year and a half. I returned to his office repeatedly for bite adjustments, which eventually caused issues on the other side of my mouth. Finally, he referred me to an Endodontist (another $600) who confirmed the problem wasn't the root -- it was likely the crown. Dr. Roth refused to acknowledge that possibility. Eventually, I saw another dentist who not only confirmed the crown was the likely culprit, but also stated the two other crowns Dr. Roth recommended were completely unnecessary. That dentist charged $3,800 for a NEW crown (on a credit card, no "cash discount" gimmick) and came highly recommended by trusted friends. However, I decided to wait -- but six months later, the ever-present problematic crown Dr. Roth placed fell out. My new dentist confirmed the reason it fell out, and likely the cause of the 1.5 years of pain when I chewed was that it had been improperly placed from the start. For context: Dr. Roth also quoted me $10,000 for 6 months of Invisalign. I later went to Dr. Goodman (a #1 Invisalign provider) for the exact treatment-- and paid $5,200. Once Dr. Roth learned I went elsewhere, his demeanor noticeably shifted. Bottom line: in my experience, Dr. Roth over-treats, overcharges, improperly places crowns, and pushes unnecessary work. His refusal to take accountability for faulty dental work left me in pain for over a year, thousands of dollars lighter, and still needing to fix his mistakes. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HIM.

I returned to this practice in August 2025 specifically because of my past positive experience with Dr. Martin, who had always been sensitive to my severe dental anxiety. For my August appointment, booked for a cleaning, exam, and X-rays, I confirmed in advance that I required nitrous for the entire visit along with Valium. Instead, I was met with repeated pressure from a hygienist I had never met before about "concerns" with my teeth and gums, even though Dr. Martin had already examined me and said everything "looked good." The hygienist left mid-appointment to discuss insurance coverage with the office manager, leaving me waiting. When I asked to proceed with the cleaning I originally booked, she turned the nitrous off, switched to oxygen and I ultimately left without the full service. Because I care deeply about my dental health, I later scheduled Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing for today, the deep cleaning their hygienist recommended. I was told it would take two hours to complete all four quadrants and cost roughly $350 per quadrant. I prepaid nearly $2,000 and confirmed, in writing, that I required nitrous for the entire appointment and did not want any upsells mid appointment. Despite receiving multiple confirmations (two emails, three calls, and a text), the experience again fell far short. I flew into NYC specifically for this appointment and timed my anxiety medication with the appointment time to ensure treatment would go smoothly. When I arrived early at their request, the hygienist attempted to rush me into treatment before the nitrous had taken effect, contradicting their claim of understanding dental anxiety care. Then I was told I would receive injections to numb my entire mouth, something never mentioned during the booking process, not listed online in the procedure description, and not disclosed in any of our prior conversations. I declined and requested standard numbing gel. The "two-hour" Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing began at 4:02 pm and ended at 4:32 pm, 30 minutes total. Literally. I was then told the reason was simply, "Your teeth are in such good shape." This is especially concerning given that four months earlier, I was told (during a basic cleaning) that my gums were in such poor condition they needed to stop mid-appointment to verify insurance approval for a deep cleaning. Yet now, after paying cash upfront, all four quadrants were completed in just half an hour. It feels inconsistent at best, and at worst, like a bait-and-switch situation. I also paid $215 for nitrous oxide. Based on the photo I took, the machine displayed 60% nitrous / 30% oxygen. At no point did I feel the typical physical effects one would expect--especially when combined with a prescribed sedative. It raises the question of whether the nitrous tank was empty or improperly administered. I've had nitrous EVERY dental appointment for 20 years - i know how I'm supposed to feel, I repeatedly said nothing was coming and I was fully alert, yet another scam. To summarize, I paid nearly $2,000 for: * A two-hour Periodontal Scaling and Root Planing that lasted only 30 minutes * Four quadrants of scaling, when realistically only one or two may have been addressed * Nitrous oxide that did not appear to be delivered as represented * An exam I was told was required, yet I never saw the dentist at all. Oh and on my statement, it stated I received an Ibero scan - never happened and the receptionist said, well you weren't charged for it. LOL. I am requesting reimbursement for the nitrous charge, two of the four quadrants, and the exam fee. Patients have choices in dental care. If a practice advertises expertise in treating dental anxiety, the staff should be trained to actually deliver on that promise. Unfortunately, my experience demonstrated the opposite.

It was worth waiting a year before Dr. Salzer was able to put braces in my mouth and give me the smile and pefect bite I always wanted! I chose braces versus invisalign because my teeth were able to be corrected in less than one year and I love drinking coffee and would not be able to keep the invisalign in my mouth when drinking anything but water. In addition, if it wasn't for her, I would not have known that I had a lump on the upper left side of my mouth. Being an ex-cancer patient, that was extremely upsetting to me. She sent me to a neurologist to make sure that it wasn't cancer. I have had several checkups with that doctor to confirm. The technology in her office is "first class." I do believe without the best technology, she would not have known about it. Dr. Salzer invests in technology for her patients and has the cutting edge before it even hits the market! That should also be a factor when chosing the right orthodontist. Even though she sent me for physical therapy and to the TMJ specialist, it was all worth the wait! Dr. Salzer was able to give me the perfect bite and smile I always wanted!! She is a perfectionist and an amazing person and without hesitation, look no further!!!
