This restaurant recently opened. At the moment, they don't accept reservations or call-ahead. They have a small parking lot + street parking. They serve tapas style here..in the sense that you order little-by-little, no rush. So, portions are small but pricing is reasonable (~$4.00- $11.00). The dress attire is casual. Fun spot for apps and booze! :: Tacos - As mentioned above, this is tapas style, taco portions are similar to Distrito, El Vez, etc.. You can mix-n-match different tacos. If all you eat is just three tacos, you may remain hungry. However, my wife and I had a bunch of apps as well, we were plenty satisfied. The bottle of Central's hot sauce that is on the table is pretty good, give it a try. Crispy Fish: It was just okay Spiced Fish: very good, much better than the fried version. I have been looking forward to the opening of Central Taco and Tequila- an exciting addition to Haddon Ave. The restaurant itself has an open format with indoor and outdoor seating. Despite Central's large size, the restaurant was very crowded when I went at around 2 PM on a Friday-- so definitely expect a wait. The drink menu is a lot of fun with unique margarita options and various types of tequila. I ordered a blood orange margarita which was pretty incredible. The only downside was there was way too much salt on the rim (I had to wipe it all off). I'm looking forward to trying the other margs on the menu. The food itself was good, but nothing too groundbreaking. I had the veggie taco and the spicy fish taco. Both were very small (priced at $3-$4 for one taco). Neither were especially flavorful but were good, nonetheless. I also had the nachos ($8). The nachos were corn chips with two types of cheese which were really good. They didn't include guac or any meat so they were kind of pricy considering that the nachos were basically just chips and cheese. One other thing to note is that the entire menu can be made Gluten Sensitive (they can't guarantee cross contamination but can use GF products). They got tacos CHECK! They got lots of Tequila CHECK! Great place... like the vibe in here! Spacious with cool decor inside. I opted to sit at the bar to enjoy some grub and some drinks. Always like getting the bartenders opinions on what to order and stuff. I loved the display of all the liquors at the bar. The bartender even gave us some great recommendations on the different tequilas and entertained us discussing some of the differences in prices with some of the bottles. Started with the Coconut Margarita, which was good.. but I can only drink one. Better to sip this on the beach or something, but at least brought me back to living in Hawaii. Next I went with their classic margarita which is definitely better to drink with tacos. Drinks were great and strong! I love Mexican food and can now add Central to my list of go-to spots! They have a lot of outdoor seating which is great when the weather is cooperating. All of their margaritas sounded delicious and opted for the watermelon mint margarita. I loved it! My table shared the salsa trip and guac. Both were great. 3 tacos per person is probably standard. I had the crispy chicken, mushroom man before (a special that week) and a shrimp taco. Each taco was packed with a ton of flavor and a bit of heat! After hearing many good things about this place I decided to try it out. Everything from the rice, to the beans, to the Al Pastor was completely flavorless. Speaking of the Al Pastor, not even the pineapple bits had flavor and the pork was super fatty. So much so that a couple of bites were inedible. I dunno if they were just having a bad night or something, but yikes. Not even their chips were salted. Also, to be honest, it was relatively overpriced given the portion sizes, but that wouldn't have even mattered should the meat have been properly trimmed of fat and it have had some form of flavor. One of the best taquerias I've been to. The tacos were authentic. The tequila menu was unbelievable. The margs were fantastic (I recommend the house marg with reposado). The environment and interior was a lot of fun. I'm baffled by the negative reviews. The tacos were on the small side, but high quality. I've been wanting to try this place out since I first learned what they were building. My interest increased when I learned that it was going to be run by PJW Restaurants, a company that has already been very successful in the area, with PJ Whelihans, Treno's and others. So, I decided to put together a sampler menu for myself. I ordered the Chicken Tortilla Soup, a bowl of Mexican Street Rice, and three different kinds of tacos. Everything was cooked from scratch and delicious. The soup was tasty and loaded with shredded chicken. No skimping here. The Mexican Street Corn was seasoned nicely and topped with some grated cheese. I could eat this all night long. And the tacos... I ordered the Al Pastor (spit roasted pork), Crispy Fish, and the Shrimp & Chorizo. All three were tasty and satisfying, but the Shrimp & Chorizo was definitely my favorite. I liked everything so much, I wanted to sample more tacos, so I ordered the Carne Asada (marinated steak) and the Korean Short Rib. They were also delicious. I'm pretty sure I overrate and I spent more money than I planned, but it was my birthday, and I don't feel guilty about it one bit. The prices were reasonable, Tacos were $3 and $4 each, and the soup and corn bowl were $5 each. Since everything is a la carte and small plates, you can control how much you spend. I didn't try the drinks, because I'm not really into alcoholic beverages much. A co-worker did tell me that she had the best margarita ever, so they seem to be on point there as well. The place is very popular right now, especially with millenials. Be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. I waited about 25-30 minutes on a Thursday. I came back on a Friday evening for an office happy hour and decided to try some of the margaritas this time. I had the blood orange and the strawberry pineapple. The blood orange was just okay, just not for me. I liked the strawberry pineapple and if I were to come back I would probably just stick with that one. The queso is really the only thing I liked from the first time I came here so I ordered that it was still good. This time I ordered the spicy crispy chicken tacos and the chicken itself was decent. So I walk in to this restaurant with my husband and friends on a weekday, Tuesday to be exact and the place is pumping!!!! As If it were a Friday or Saturday night. The atmosphere was filled with chatter and laughter and people having good conversation. Noone was on their phones but enjoying the people around them. Which for me was a joy to see!. I must say this is now my favourite place for tacos, it tasted really good. They came in cute bite sizes, the margaritas are on point as well. This place is super cute! It definitely fits right into the scene for the area. When i arrived it was pretty packed so plan on waiting for a table if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. It was also EXTREMELY loud so plan on stretching those vocal cords to have a conversation with your party. Starting with the chips and salsa they served pico, medium, and spicy which was exciting! Unfortunately the "spicy" salsa was not nearly as spicy as I'd hoped but all of the salsas were fairly decent. The tacos are super small so plan on ordering a few. I had two of the vegetable tacos and I was comfortably full. I really enjoyed how unique and different these tacos were. Lots of flavor which is always a plus for a vegetarian who's used to being disappointed by bland entrees. This is not your typical taco joint. Me and a couple friends dined in yesterday. The food and drinks were good. However the service from our 18 year old server was terrible (she told us that she was 18 and couldn't recommend a drink from the menu when my friend asked). She wasn't very attentive. Towards the end of the meal she asked if we could settle early because she "had to leave for a doctor's appointment." We were very clear on how we wanted the bill settled and she seemed confused and returned to the table. After paying we remained to chat and planned to leave the tip on the table for her. Our server was Dena. She was so nice. Very helpful with picking drinks and entrees. The food was very good, better than any Mexican food I've had in a long time. We started with the trio of dips and chips, queso with chorizo and nachos. The chips were very fresh and so were the salsas. You could taste the freshness especially in the salsa verde. Ordered to go from here because a family member gushed about how delicious they are. Well my experience was completely the opposite and I was so disappointed. We ordered elotes (Mexican corn) well it's not on the cob, it's in a bowl with the seasoning but the corn taste like canned. Then the avocado tacos...corn disc which were extremely dry and so thin that they fell apart immediately. The breading on the avocado had no flavor at all, taste like pico and raw avocado. Next we had fish tacos and again corn disc that was tasteless and thin...the fish...taste like frozen fish. Fish had no taste whatsoever and that was so upsetting.
