Read the reviews before I got here and I would agree that customer service is not the best. The server was not very hospitable. The appetizer came out with the meal and the chips were stale. The parking lot next to the restaurant is for Patco commuters and has tow away zone everywhere. We were lucky enough to find parking on the street. The facade of the building and the very nice outside dining area lured us in as we drove by. Unfortunately, we just did not get excited about anything else about this restaurant as the food and the service were the epitome of the definition of "meh". We could see that they were understaffed as everyone was pitching in, just seemed that they could have had a better system in place so that not everyone was running around like a chicken without a head. Def a hip place. Interior is very nice, the outside seating area is also nice as well. The food was decent. I chose to sit at the bar as I ordered the Korean short rib tacos which where juicy. 3 stars because I ordered tacos with no cilantro and first order came out with cilantro. However, the main reason I went was because of the picture of the old fashioned in which they have pictured. Instead of the orange bitters I was given a whole orange slice . The service was amazing, our server (I think Katie) was very attentive throughout our meal. All of the drinks were very well made- we had both the jalapeño and strawberry pineapple margaritas. Unfortunately the food was average. We ordered the nachos, an order of fried avocado tacos and a fish and chicken bowl. The taco was everything I needed it to be, but the nachos were lacking. All of the toppings were scarce. I was appreciative that the accommodated my fish substitution, however the burrito bowl lacked texture and seasoning. Central is a Mexican spot in Haddon Township (used to be the Irish Mile). I loved the vibe inside! It's dimly lit and there's cute lights around the bar area. You wouldn't know it's a Mexican place by the interior, but that's okay because I liked the simple, modern and classy feel to it. The menu is small and simple. It's mostly different types of tacos. The tacos are mix and match so each order comes with one taco for $3. The tacos are pretty small but they all come with a second tortilla so you can make two if you want. They also have salad, burrito and soup options. Here's what I ordered: Drinks: Strawberry Pineapple margarita. Delicious but very strong! Appetizer: Chips with queso. The chips were not included. In my opinion, chips should always be included at a Mexican place so that was disappointing. The chips weren't as salty as I would've liked but the queso was pretty tasty. Entree: 3 tacos: Al Pastor, Spicy Crispy Chicken and Chicken Al Pastor. Not the best tacos I've had but they were still good. I was able to make 2 tacos per order with the extra tortilla so I was definitely stuffed after my meal. I wish there was more meat in each taco. Dessert: Churros with a chocolate dipping sauce and a cinnamon apple dipping sauce (this was their dessert special). Can't really complain about churros. Definitely order some if you're still hungry! Overall, not the best Mexican food but the vibe and the margaritas made up for that. It's very reasonable priced and cheaper than going into the city to another upscale Mexican spot. Not going to lie guys that was the most mid mexican food I've ever had in my entire life. I always have believed in I pay for what I receive, so for me to get a bill that is 212 dollars for 6 people any person with a normal working brain would understand why the mood was very much ruined . For example , we ordered 2 drinks in which case the drinks came out very fast by a waiter. Then about 4 minutes later we receive another 2 drinks from our waitress and the situation went down exactly as quoted , (Waitress) " Oh im sorry did you already get your drinks? " ( Us) " Oh yeah we did but we will just take them since we probably would have ordered another round ." Long story short she charges us for 4 drinks although it was HER fault not ours and we just didnt want to tell her to go put the drinks away. Now don't get me wrong I understand that she could totally have charged us for the 4 drinks but that was not the right thing to do. If anyone is actually considerate and not just money hungry they would understand how charging us just wasn't the right thing to do in that situation. Decent Mexican cuisine and friendly service. I had the rib tacos and side orders of refried beans. My wife had the chicken burrito. Both were very good. Portion sizes were just right. The drink selection is decent too. I had a margarita and the Guac is Extra (Woodbury NJ) craft beer which was awesome. I just hope the investment group that bought PJs group let's local owners run the business. Central Taco is the place to be on a Friday night, apparently. We got there around 5:30 and it was packed, probably because of happy hour. The place has great curb appeal with the string lights, and the inside is huge. It has a small parking lot, so unless you get there at the right time expect to park elsewhere. I ordered a blackberry margarita, which was special for the month of November. It was beautiful, but tasted super salty and also bitter like grapefruit. We started with an order of the queso which was on special for happy hour. It was barely luke warm, but if it would have been hot I would have really enjoyed it. I got a chicken asada burrito mojada style. It was good. Nothing special, nothing fancy. I added a lot of hot sauce and the side of guac was clutch. Otherwise it lacked flavor, moisture, and cheesiness. The meat in the carne asada burrito was chewy. There were two orders of street corn for our table and they came way after the rest of our food. We had to tell the waitress we never got them, and we were almost finished eating by the time they arrived. She didn't apologize for the lateness. That being said, it was hot and tasty. So I went here today and my experience was awful. I sat at the bar and the bartender didn't even acknowledge me until about 10 minutes. I was the only person at the bar. Not even a "hello". We ordered a 6 pack of al pastor tacos and 6 pack of white fish tacos to go. Once we got home, we noticed that the side of sour cream that I paid for was not in the bag, no biggie. Then we opened the al pastor taco container and noticed one taco had absolutely nothing inside the taco, but grease stains indicating that the filing was there at some point? The al pastor tacos fell apart as soon as we tried to grab it from the container. The white fish tacos were mushy like mashed potato salad and smelled very fishy. I called the restaurant to explain the situation and the manager named Brandon told me that I had to drive back to the restaurant a second time and give back the food in order to receive a refund. When I spoke to Brandon, he told me that he packed the tacos himself and the taco meat was there when it left the restaurant, so he's essentially calling me a liar. It was weird being in the re-vamped Irish Mile. What once was your typical bar scene is now a modern taco restaurant decked with string lights and PACKED to the brim with patrons. They do not take reservations and the wait on a Friday night was a solid hour. Luckily I was able to catch the bartender's attention even though the crowds at the bar were insane and I was a good 3 people deep away from it. Struck out twice with the jalapeño margarita and the blood orange margarita before landing on the strawberry pineapple margarita which was by far superior. We debated getting a pitcher of the blood orange but fortunately did not as it was basically liquid salt with more salt packed on the rim. For some reason only the blood orange and plain margs are available in a pitcher. Food wise, the highlights of my meal were the crispy avocado taco and the shortbread cookie skillet. I would come back just for the cookie honestly it was that good. The tacos were v small with the idea of mix and matching for $3 each. The salsa trio was a total flop and the elote was mediocre. Both the refried beans and the chicken al pastor taco completely lacked flavor. I got to sample the chicken burrito which had much more flavor, seasoning, and sauce than my chicken taco. I also sampled the seasonal churro with caramel apple sauce. Though it didn't taste like apple, the churro was perfectly warm and soft on the inside with a nice crunch as you bite in. My friends loved their coconut shrimp tacos. The blueberry lemonade margarita was superior to the strawberry pineapple. Either way, they don't skimp on the tequila. Good thing I walked there! Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. We got the queso as an app which was the best thing we had... We ordered the spicy chicken tacos (entirely too spicy), the steak tacos (BARELY any steak), the shrimp and chorizo tacos (not a good combo) and Korean short rib tacos (drenched in too much sauce/toppings and didn't even finish them that's how awful they were). Really wish I took pictures to share. My advice would be for this place to visit some good taco places in perhaps Philly (Hefe, Loco Pez, etc.) to get an idea of what it takes to create a GOOD taco. These were poorly put together, lacking flavor and low quality. Also, I suggest adding a quesadilla on the menu. The atmosphere and vibes were great. I've been wanting to go to central taco for a few weeks now and just went on Friday. We were a party of four and they told us the wait would be an hour, so we went to the bar and grabbed a few margs and sat down outside while we waited. It was organized and they had plenty of room for all of the people waiting, so it didn't feel over crowded. We ended up getting in around 40 minutes so that was nice. The margaritas are what drew me to central taco, I got the coconut one (which was by far my favorite, it was excellent) the watermelon mint (also super good, a little sweet but again well put together) and the pineapple( monthly special. Good but not my favorite) I will definitely be back for the coconut and would like to go for their monthly margarita The food- the tacos are a la carte which I personally love so you're able to try different types. I got the coconut shrimp (amazing; so much flavor) and carnitas. I really liked their salsa on both. The tacos were excellent. We got a chip and salsa trio for the table so we could try all the different ones, and the green salsa was my favorite. I also got the Mexican street corn which came in a bowl and threw me off but was still very good. I ended up sharing that because it was too much food. The service is quick and friendly both at the bar and the tables. They bring the food out when it's ready so it is fresh and hot every time, and also it came out very quick. This is your typical style over substance kind of place. I really like the decor and vibe although nothing really screams Mexican on the inside. More of a hipster doofus kind of vibe. The tacos are tiny and $3-$4 each; I think three is good if you also get an appetizer otherwise four is the way to go. The guacamole is very very ordinary and nothing that you couldn't find in a supermarket. The food menu in general is very basic and the quality of food is very average. It's not that it's bad, but I don't imagine La Esperanza being worried about this place. I will say that the tequila and drink menus is quite good, and although I'm not a big drinker I feel confident in saying that this is a better place to drink than to eat. Oh and be careful when you try to go into their parking lot - there's a really steep incline and it'll scrape your car if you go over too fast. The parking lot is tiny also so if you see a spot on the street just park there. Allegedly you can get towed if you try to park in the PATCO lot. read more

On first impressions, Central Taco & Tequila is ok, but it could be so much better. I went into it with high hopes. I'm a Mexican cuisine fanatic and am always looking for a new place to satisfy my cravings. I dragged a friend along and we were immediately seated. We quickly ordered margaritas as well as queso and chips to start. Drinks were pretty good, but the queso left a lot to be desired. The dip had a very muted flavor to it. Similar dare I say to the cheese dip you get from Tostitos. I tend to steer clear of "street tacos" as I often find them over priced and lacking in substance so we both ordered the chicken burrito. Again, this was just ok. It had all the fillings required to make a burrito out of this world, but it was just bland and the tortilla was dry. I doused it in the hot sauce in an effort to kick it up a notch which helped marginally. The atmosphere is great though. A big bar right in the center with a back deck where we were seated. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. With tip and 3 margaritas, our tab was around $60-$70. Given the lackluster food, I find that to be overpriced. The drinks, service, and atmosphere were the only positives. I intend on returning but not for some time. 'll be sure to try the tacos, but do not have high expectations as I was eyeing our neighbors' meals and they seemed to hold true to street taco form. read more

I typically come here about once a week mostly Sundays but this time I came in on a Tuesday. I had the queso and went ahead and tried the burrito since ive had all the taco varieties. I had the Carnitas which was really good. The toppings were very complimentary. I ordered the central margarita for 8 bucks, was very good although little light on the tequila but overall fine ( it was also served in a glass which is nice especially during the pandemic where everyone serves everything in plastic) my friend got the Mexican street corn which he really liked.
